PRAYERS OF THE FINAL PROPHET (SAAWW)
49. HIS DUA WHEN HE SAW THE NEW MOON
90. In al-~Uy£n: From D¡rim ibn Qab¢sah from ~Al¢ XE "~Al¢" ibn M£s¡ XE "M£sā" al-Ri¤¡, from his fathers, from ~Al¢ G who said: When the Prophet of All¡h XE "All¡h" 9 saw the new moon he would say:
أَيُّهَا الْخَلْقُ الْمُطِيعُ الدَّائِبُ السَّرِيعُ الْمُتَصَرِّفُ فِي مَلَكُوتِ الْجَبَرُوتِ بِالتَّقْدِيرِ! رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللّٰهُ. أَللّٰهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالأَمْنِ وَالإِيـمَانِ وَالسَّلاَمَةِ وَالإِحْسَانِ، وَكَمَا بَلَغْتَنَا أَوَّلَهُ فَبَلِّغْنَا آخِرَهُ، وَاجْعَلْهُ شَهْراً مُبَارَكاً تَمْحُو فِيهِ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَتَرْفَعُ لَنَا فِيهِ الدَّرَجَاتِ، يَا عَظِيمَ الْخَيْرَاتِ.
O Obedient creature - the untiring, fast-moving heavenly body that rotates by the Will of All¡h XE "All¡h" ! My Lord and your Lord is All¡h. O All¡h! Make the new moon come upon us with tranquility and faith, and peace and goodness. As You have made us pass the beginning of it, make us pass the end of it. And make it a blessed month wherein You wipe off the evil deeds and elevate our status, O Great Bestower of goodly things.[i]
