or the thunderous murk. |
y man alulmatu `indah iy'un |
O He with Whom the entire murk is light, |
as'aluka binri wajhika alkarmi |
I beseech You in the name of the brightness of Your Noble Face |
alladh tajallayta bih liljabali faja`altah dakkan |
through which You manifested Your glory to the mountain; so, You made it crumble |
wa kharra ms a`iqan |
and (Prophet) Moses fell down in a swoon, |
wa bismika alladh rafa`ta bih alssamwti bil `amadin |
in the name of Your Name by which You raised the heavens without any pillars |
wa saata bih al-ara `al wajhi m'in jamadin |
and by which You flattened the earth on the surface of solid water, |

wa idh su'ilta bih a`ayta |
and grant any one who asks You his request, |

alladh huwa nrun `al kulli nrin |
which is light over the entire light, |
wa nrun min nrin |
which is light made of light, |
yu'u minhu kullu nrin |
and from which all lights take their brightness; |
idh balagha al-ara inshaqqat |
if it reaches the earth, it will be rent asunder, |
wa idh balagha alssamwti futiat |
if it reaches the heavens, they will be opened, |
wa idh balagha al`arsha ihtazza |
and if it reaches the throne, it will quiver; |

I beseech You in the name of [Archangels] Gabriel, Michael, and Seraph, |
wa biaqqi muammadin almuaf |

wa `al jam`i al-anbiy'i wa jam`i almal'ikati |
and all prophets and angels; |
wa bilismi alladh mash bih alkhiru `al qulali alm'i |

kam mash bih `al jadadi al-ari |
just as he used to walk on lands; |
wa bismika alladh falaqta bih albara lims |
in the name of You Name through which You caused the sea to cleave asunder for Moses, |
wa aghraqta fir`awna wa qawmah |
You drowned Pharaoh and his people, |
wa anjayta bih ms bna `imrna wa man ma`ah |
and saved Moses, the son of `Imrn, and those who accompanied him; |
wa bismika alladh da`ka bih ms bnu `imrna |
in the name of Your Name by which Moses, the son of `Imrn, besought You |
min jnibi alri al-aymani |
from the right slope of the Mount; |
fastajabta lah wa alqayta `alayhi maabbatan minka |
so, You responded to him and cast down upon him love from You; |
wa bismika alladh bih ay `s bnu maryama almawt |
in the name of Your Name by which Jesus, the son of Mary, brought life to the dead, |
wa takallama f almahdi abiyyan |
could speak while he was a child in the cradle, |
wa abra'a al-akmaha wal-abraa bi'idhnika |
and healed the blind and the leprous by Your permission; |
wa bismika alladh da`ka bih amalatu `arshika |

wa jabr'lu wa mk'lu wa isrflu |
and so did Gabriel, Michael, Seraph, |
wa abbuka muammadun all allhu `alayhi wa lih |
Muammad Your most beloved one (peace be upon him and upon his Household) |
wa mal'ikatuka almuqarrbna |
Your favorite angels, |
wa anbiy'uka almursalna |
Your messaged Prophets, |
wa `ibduka allina min ahli alssamwti wal-arana |
and Your righteous servants from among the inhabitants of the heavens and the layers of the earth; |
wa bismika alladh da`ka bih dh alnnni |
in the name of Your Name by which Dhul-Nn (Prophet Jonah) besought You |
idh dhahaba mughiban faanna an lan taqdira `alayhi |
when he departed in wrath: he imagined that You had no power over him, |
fand f alulumti an l ilha ill anta subnaka |
but he cried through the depths of darkness, There is no god but You. Glory be to You. |
inn kuntu min allimna |
I was indeed one of those who are wrong! |
fastajabta lah wa najjaytah min alghammi |
So, You responded to him and delivered him from the grief |
wa kadhlika tunj almu'minna |
and thus do You deliver the believers; |
in the name of Your Great Name by which David besought You |
wa kharra laka sjidan faghafarta lah dhanbah |
and as he fell down prostrating himself to You, You rectified it for him; |
wa bismika alladh da`atka bih siyatu imra'atu fir`awna |
in the name of Your Name by which siyah, the wife of Pharaoh, besought You, |
idh qlat rabbi ibni l `indaka baytan f aljannati |
saying, My Lord! Build for me a house with You in Paradise, |
wa najjin min fir`awna wa `amalih |
deliver me from Pharaoh and his doing, |
wa najjin min alqawmi allimna |
and deliver me from the unjust people. |
fastajabta lah du`'ah |
So, You responded to her prayer; |
in the name of Your Name by which (Prophet) Job besought You after misfortune had befallen him; |
fa`faytah wa taytah ahlah wa mithlahum ma`ahum |
so, You healed him and gave him his family and the like of them with them: |
ramatan min `indika wa dhikr lil`bidna |
a mercy from You and a reminder to the worshippers; |
in the name of Your Name by which (Prophet) Jacob besought You; |
faradadta `alayhi baarah wa qurrata `aynih ysufa wa jama`ta shamlah |
so, You returned to him his sight and the delight of his heart, Joseph, and You reunified him. |
wa bismika alladh da`ka bih sulaymnu |
in the name of Your Name by which (Prophet) Solomon besought You; |
fawahabta lah mulkan l yanbagh li'aadin min ba`dih |
So, You gifted him kingdom that none else should never gain, |
innaka anta alwahhbu |
for You are verily the Granter of bounties; |
wa bismika alladh sakhkharta bih alburqa limuammadin |
in the name of Your Name by which You subdued the Burq to Muammad, |
all allhu `alayhi wa lih wa sallama |
peace and blessings be upon him and his Household, |
idh qla ta`l subna alladh asr bi`abdih laylan |
as Almighty Allah says, Glory be to Him Who made His servant to go on a night |
min almasjidi alarmi il almasjidi al-aq |
from the Sacred Mosque to the remote mosque. |
wa qawluh subna alladh sakhkhara lan hdh wa m kunn lah muqrinna |
He also says, Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it. |
wa inn il rabbin lamunqalibna |
Surely, to our Lord we must return; |
wa bismika alladh tanazzala bih jabr'lu `al muammadin |
in the name of Your Name by which (Archangel) Gabriel used to ascend to Muammad, |
all allhu `alayhi wa lih |
peace be upon him and his Household; |
wa bismika alladh da`ka bih damu |
and in the name of Your Name by which Adam besought You; |
faghafarta lah dhanbah wa askantah jannataka |
so, You rectified him and allowed him to dwell in Your Paradise. |
wa as'aluka biaqqi alqur'ni al`ami |

O Allah, (please) shower upon me the best share of every good thing |
f hdh alyawmi min khayrin taqsimuh |
that You decide for Your servants on this day, |
aw urrin takshifuh |
such as harm that You decide to hold off, |
aw s'in tarifuh |
evil that You decide to ward off, |
aw bal'in tadfa`uh |
ordeal that You decide to deter, |
aw khayrin tasquh |
grace that You decide to grant, |
aw ramatin tanshuruh |
item of mercy that You decide to distribute, |
aw `fiyatin tulbisuh |
and item of wellbeing that You decide to cover up (on one of Your servants), |
fa'innaka `al kulli shay'in qadrun |
for You verily have power over all things, |
wa biyadika khaz'inu alssamwti wal-ari |
in Your hands lie the hoards of the heavens and the earth, |
wa anta alwidu alkarmu almu` |
You are verily the One, the All-generous, and the Best Bestower, |
alladh l yuraddu s'iluh |
You are the One Whose beseechers are not rejected, |
wa l yukhayyabu miluh |
and You are the One Who never disappoint those who put hope in Him, |
wa l yanquu n'iluh |
the One Who is never influenced by the rewards that He bestows upon anyone, |
wa l yanfadu m `indah |
and the One Whose possessions never run out; |
bal yazddu kathratan wa ban |
rather, You always increase in quantity, excellent gift, |
wa `a'an wa jdan |
conferrals, and magnanimity. |
warzuqn min khaz'inika allat l tafn |
(Please) bestow upon me from Your hoards that never come to an end |
wa min ramatika alwsi`ati |
and from Your expansive mercy. |
inna `a'aka lam yakun maran |
Your conferral shall never be confined |
wa anta `al kulli shay'in qadrun |
and You have power over all things; |
biramatika y arama alrrimna |
in the name of Your mercy; O most Merciful of all those who show mercy. |
Second: It is recommended to repeat one thousand times the Ten Statements of Glorification (Tasbt), which will be cited within the devotional rites of the `Araft Day.
Third: It is recommended to say the supplication, dedicated to the `Araft Day and the Friday nights and days, which begins with the following statement:
allhumma man ta`abba'a wa tahayya'a |
O Allah, One may call up, prepare |
This supplication has been mentioned within the devotional acts on the Friday nights.
([1]) It is said that this statement was revealed to Prophet Moses, and it means I am I. The next statement of the supplication supports this.
