Tahajjud optional duas  Dua Hazeen /Grief |  Pdf  , Pdf AcademyMp3

TIME : The time for praying Salatul-Layl is from midnight (midnight is reckoned as the time which is exactly half the time between sunset and the actual dawn) to the time of Adhan for Fajr prayers. However, it can be prayed at anytime after Isha prayers but it is better to pray during the last part of the night near to the time of Fajr prayers. If it is not possible to pray after midnight or before Fajr, then it can be recited in the morning or any part of the day with the niyyah (intention) of Qadha. It is better to recite with the niyyah of Qadha during the day time than to pray in the early part of the night.  More on Qaza of Tahajjud

Note: in the Arabic version of Tawdhihul Masael of Ayatullah Al-Sistani Dama-Dhilluhu the time of Salaat al-Layl starts after Isha prayers (and not from midnight as stated in the English version of Islamic Laws ). However, it is better to pray near the time of Fajr prayers.

METHOD Video
Salatul-Layl is made up of Eleven Rak’ats.:-

The first 8(eight) Rak’ats are prayed as normal in pairs of two Rak’ats each with the niyyah of Nawafilatul-Layl.

The next 2 (two) Rak’ats are prayed with the Niyyah of 'Salatul Shaf’a'.
The remaining 1(one) Rak’at is prayed (as below) with the Niyyah of 'Salatul Witr.'

In the last one Rak’at, Qunoot is recited before Rukuu and the Salat is completed as usual with Tashahud and Salaam.

The last one Rak’at of Witr is prayed as follows:
          i) Make Niyyah and say Takbiratul Ihram.
ii) Recite foll surahs:-Surah Al-Hamd; Surah Qul Huwallahu Ahad - three times; Surah Qul-Audhubi Rabbil Falaq - once; Surah Qul-Audhubi Rabbin Naas - once.

Note: If one does not know the last two Surahs mentioned above, then it is sufficient to recite Surah Qul Huwallahu Ahad, three times.

iii)Say Takbir and raise hands for Qunoot.:-
You may recite any Dua. However, it is recommended to recite the following Dua

The blessed month of Ramadhan offers a good opportunity and convenient time to pray Salatul Layl, especially when the time of commencing the fast is favorable.
Allah [swt] gives abundant reward for all our acts of worship during this blessed month, therefore, we need to make special efforts to pray the Salaat and keep it up
for the rest of the year to raise our level of spirituality.

Please do not forget all of the believers throughout the world in your Salat al-Layl especially those downtrodden and oppressed Muslims all over the globe.

Dua Of Imam Zainul Abideen Before Salat ul layl   Mp3-Part 2

In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful

O Allah bless Muhammad and his family

My God, the stars of Your sky have sunk and the eyes of Your people

are sleeping and the voices of Your servants and Your animals have

become silent

and the kings have locked their doors and its guards are moving

around it

and they are covered from he who wishes to ask them for a need

or to get a benefit from them but You my God, are Ever Living,

Subsistent, slumber or sleep does not overtake you (2:255)

and one thing does not occupy You from another; the doors of Your

sky are open for he who asks You and Your treasures are never locked

and the doors of Your mercy are never covered and Your benefits are

never forbidden for he who asks You rather they are given generously

You are my God, the Generous who does not turn away a beseecher

who asks from You and You do not conceal Yourself from anyone of

the believers who intends You

No, by Your Honor and Your Majesty no one removes their needs other

than You and no one fulfills their needs apart from You

O Allah You see me, and my standing (before You) and my humble

position in front of You and You know my secrets and are aware of

what is in my heart and of what will improve my affairs of the

Hereafter and the world

O Allah, the remembrance of death and the frightening conditions of

the observer and standing before You makes me stay away from my

food and drink and makes me choke, keeps me away from my pillow and

prevents me from sleeping

How can one sleep who fears the angel of death? in the calamities of

the night and the calamities of the day rather how can an intelligent

person sleep while the angel of death does not sleep neither at night

nor in the day and seeks his soul in the state of sleep and in the

middle of the hours

I beseech You to give me ease and comfort at the time of death and

forgiveness when I meet You

O Allah! I ask You by the honour of that person who has sought refuge in You and the refuge of Your Honour rested in the shade of Your Majesty and was familiar with Your ways and had no hopes from anyone else. O the giver of great rewards.O the one to free the indigents,

O the one who has praised Himself with generosity and has named himself "Wahab" (the bestower) and that I call on You, in fear and anxiety in greed and success, in helplessness and freedom, in gains and loses, standing and sitting, in bowing and prostrating, in walking and mounting, coming and going, so much so that in all conditions I ask Yu to send Your mercy and blessings on Mohammed and his progeny (ask for Your needs over here).

Dua after Salat al-Shaf’a    mp3 Part 7

In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful

O Allah bless Muhammad and his family

O Allah, on this night the seekers have sought You

and the aspirers have aspired for You

and the searchers have hoped

for Your blessings and grace

For You have in this night, hidden bounties

and rewards and presents and gifts which You bestow upon whom you please from Your servants

and You deny them to one who has not reached Your regard

Here I am,Your abject servant in need of You

hopeful of Your blessings and grace

So, O my Master

if You have bestowed blessings

on this night

on anyone of Your creatures

and turned to him with affection

then bless Muhammad and his family

the pure, the purified,

the virtuous ones

the excellent ones

and favor me with Your grace and bounty

O Lord of the worlds

And send blessings on Muhammad

the seal of the Prophets and his family, the Purified

and salute them with

a perfect salutation

Surely Allah is praiseworthy, Glorious

O Allah I have supplicated to You

as You have commanded

then answer me as You have promised

Surely You do not break Your promises.

Dua 2

O Allah! I am a sinner, I have done oppression on my self, and whatever I have done is wrong, now both these hands are presented for punishment, and the neck is bowed down due to my sins and now I have presented myself in Your presence.

So for my sake snatch away the happiness from me, so that You love my actions and then I never repeat such deeds again.

(Then recite 300 times) 'Al-Afw' (forgive me) then say - O Allah pardon me, have Mercy on me, accept my repentance, as You are the only one to accept repentance and bestow Mercy.

Dua 3 The  "Holy Prophet"   used to say in the qunut of the Witr Prayer:

O Allah  ! Guide me as those whom You have guided, and grant me well-being as those whom You have granted well-being, and take care of my affair as those whose affairs You have taken care of, and bless me in what You grant me, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed, verily You decree and nothing is decreed upon You. Glory be to You O Lord of the House! I seek forgiveness from You and turn to You, and I seek refuge with You and rely on You, and there is no power or might but by Your will, O Most Merciful! al-Faqih 1:487, Bihar al-Anwar 87:205

O Allah bless Muhammad and his family
I whisper unto You O One Who is present in every place so that You may hear my call for surely my sin is excessive and my shame is less My Master,

O my Master which of the terrifying states shall I remember and which of them shall I forget for if there was nothing except death it would be enough then what about after death greater and much worse?

My master O my Master up to when and till when will I say, I am to blame, again and again, but then You do not find any truth or loyalty in me? I call for help and I call for help, O Allah from desires which have overpowered me and from the enemy which has pounced on me and from the world which attracts me and from the soul that leads towards evil except that on which my Lord has mercy (12:53)
My master O my master if You have had mercy on the likes of me then have mercy on me and if You have accepted from the likes of me then accept from me O One Who accepts the early morning prayer accept me,

O One who, I still know only good from Him O One who nourishes me with blessings morning and evening have mercy on me when I come to You alone, my glance fixed on You my actions carried on my neck

When all of creation will withdraw away from me yes, even my father and mother and those for whom I worked and struggled then if You will not have mercy on me who will have mercy on me who will give me solace from the loneliness of the grave and who will make me speak when I am alone with my deeds and when You will ask me about what You know better than me? Then if I say yes (to my sins) where will be the escape from Your Justice? And if I say I did not commit it You will say was I not a witness over you? So (I beseech)

Your Forgiveness Your Pardon O my master before the wearing of the clothes of Hell Your Forgiveness Your Pardon O my Master before the Hell and the Fire Your Forgiveness Your Forgiveness O my Master before the hands are tied to the necks O the most Merciful and the best of Forgivers

Imam Ali ibn Husain (Zainul Aabideen) (as) Supplication for himself in Confessing Sins after Finishing the Tahajud Prayer

MERITS

By praying Salatul-Layl one’s livelihood is increased, one passes easily through “Sakaraat” (great and grueling pain a dying person suffers at the time of death) and finds happiness in “Barzakh” (the Spiritual world where the departed souls stay either in happiness or misery, until the Day of Resurrection).

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.) quotes Imam Ali (as) as saying that the Prophet (saws) said that a person who prays Salatul-Layl gets the following twenty four kinds of benefits:

  1. Secures Allah’s pleasure.
  2. Makes friendship with Angels.
  3. Is the Sunnat of the Prophets (a.s.)
  4. Provides the means to pursue knowledge.
  5. Constitutes the root of our faith.
  6. Keeps one physically fit.
  7. Drives Shaytan away.
  8. Protects one from enemies.
  9. Serves as a means of acceptance of one’s Duas and good deeds.
  10. Increases one’s livelihood.
  11. Intercedes with the Angel of Death.
  12. Lights up the grave.
  13. Provides comfortable bedding in the grave.
  14. Helps answering with ease the questioning of Munkar and Nakir in the grave.
  15. Gives companionship in the grave.
  16. Provides shelter on the Day of Judgment.
  17. Crowns one on the Day of Reckoning.
  18. Clothes one on the Day of Resurrection.
  19. Provides one with light on the Day of Judgment.
  20. Forms a barrier against the fire of Hell.
  21. Gets Allah’s pardon on the Day of Judgment.
  22. Increases the weight of good deeds on the scale.
  23. Helps one crossing the Bridge of “Siraat” without any difficulty.
  24. Forms the key to the Paradise.

Fazilat (Merit) of reciting the Qaza of Namaz-e-Shab

If one misses the Namaz-e-Shab one can perform its Qaza during the day. If one has missed Namaz-e-Shab there is great merit in performing its Qaza. Thus there is a tradition from Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) in Tafseer Ali Ibne Ibrahim Qummi that a person said to Imam (a.s.): May I be sacrificed on you, sometimes I miss Namaz-e-Shab for one, two or three months and I perform it during the day, is such a thing allowed?

Imam (a.s.) said: By Allah! This action is the cause of the vision of your eyes. And he repeated this sentence thrice.

Ishaq bin Ammar has related from Imam Sadiq (a.s.) that he quoted his father who quoted the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) that when a person performs the Qaza of Namaz-e-Shab the Almighty Allah expresses pride before the Angels and says; O Angels! See he is performing the Qaza of that which I have not made obligatory on him. Be witness that I have given him salvation. (Beharul Anwaar Vol. 87 Pg. 202)

If while one is offering the Namaz-e-Shab and the dawn appears, for example the dawn has appeared after performing four rakats one should perform the rest of the prayer without recommended rituals. However if one has not prayed four rakats, one should complete the two rakats, then offer two rakats of the Nafila of the Morning Prayer, then two rakats obligatory Morning Prayer, and after this he should recite the Qaza of the rest of the Namaz-e-Shab. Or if he has not even begun reciting the Namaz-e-Shab and the dawn has arrived one should recite two rakats of Nafila of the Morning Prayer and then two rakats of Obligatory Morning Prayer. And after the Morning Prayer he should recite the Qaza of Namaz-e-Shab.

If one offers the Namaz-e-Shab after the Morning Azan and before Sunrise one must neither recite it with the intention of Qaza nor the intention of Adaa (in time), rather one should recite it with the intention of 'whatever is applicable'.

It means that one should make an intention that one is praying the Namaz-e-Shab for gaining the proximity to Allah. (Qurbatan Elallah).
