Sahife Sajjadiya

In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

دُعَاؤُهُ فِي الْمَعُونَةِ عَلَى قَضَاءِ الدَّيْنِHis Supplication for Help in Repaying Debts

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

and release me from a debt which makes me lose face,

وَهَبْ لِيَ الْعَافِيَةَ مِنْ دَيْن تُخْلِقُ بِهِ وَجْهِي،

confuses my mind, disrupts my thinking,

وَيَحَارُ فِيهِ ذِهْنِي، وَيَتَشَعَّبُ لَهُ فِكْرِي،

and prolongs my occupation with attending to it!

وَيَطُولُ بِمُمَارَسَتِهِ شُغْلِي،

I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord, from worry and thought about debt,

وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ يَا رَبِّ مِنْ هَمِّ الدَّيْنِ وَفِكْرِهِ،

from the distraction and sleeplessness of debt;

وَشُغْلِ الدَّيْنِ وَسَهَرِهِ.

so bless Muhammad and his Household and give me refuge from it!

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ وَأَعِذْنِي مِنْهُ.

I seek sanctuary in Thee, my Lord, from debt's abasement in life

وَأَسْتَجيرُ بِكَ يَا رَبِّ مِنْ ذِلَّتِهِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ

and its ill effects after death,

وَمِنْ تَبِعَتِهِ بَعْدَ الْوَفَاةِ.

so bless Muhammad and his Household and give me sanctuary from it

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ وَأَجِرْنِي مِنْهُ

through a bountiful plenty or a continually arriving sufficiency!

بِوُسْع فاضِل أَوْ كَفَاف وَاصِل.

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household

أَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِـهِ

prevent me from extravagance and excess,

وَاحْجُبْنِي عَنِ السَّرَفِ وَالازْدِيَادِ،

put me on the course of generous spending and moderation,

وَقَوِّمْنِي بِالْبَذْلِ وَالاقْتِصَـادِ،

teach me excellent distribution,

وَعَلِّمْنِي حُسْنَ التَّقْدِيرِ،

hold me back through Thy gentleness from squandering,

وَاقْبِضْنِي بِلُطْفِكَ عَنِ التَّبْذِيرِ

allow me to attain my provisions through lawful means,

وَأَجْرِ مِنْ أَسْبَابِ الْحَلاَلِ أَرْزَاقِي،

direct my spending toward the gateways of devotion,

وَوَجِّهْ فِي أَبْوَابِ الْبِرِّ إنْفَاقِي،

and take away from me any possession which will bring forth pride in me,

وَازْوِ عَنِّي مِنَ الْمَالِ مَا يُحْدِثُ لِي مَخِيلََةً

lead to insolence, or drag me in its heels to rebellion!

أَوْ تَأَدِّياً إلَى بَغْي، أَوْ مَا أَتَعَقَّبُ مِنْهُ طُغْيَـاناً.

O God, make me love the companionship of the poor

أللَّهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إلَيَّ صُحْبَـةَ الْفُقَرَاءِ،

and help me be their companion with excellent patience!

وَأَعِنِّي عَلَى صُحْبَتِهِمْ بِحُسْنِ الْصَّبْرِ،

Whenever Thou takest away from me the goods of this perishing world,

وَمَـا زَوَيْتَ عَنِّي مِنْ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَاالفَانِيَةِ

store them for me in Thy abiding treasuries!

فَاذْخَرْهُ لِيْ فِي خَزَائِنِكَ البَاقِيَةِ،

Make this world's broken pieces which Thou hast conferred upon me

وَاجْعَلْ مَا خَوَّلْتَنِي مِنْ حُطَامِهَا،

and its goods which Thou hast quickly granted to me a way to reach Thy neighbourhood,

وَعَجَّلْتَ لِي مِنْ مَتَاعِهَا بُلْغَةً إلَى جِوَارِكَ،

a link to Thy nearness, and a means to Thy Garden!

وَوُصْلَةً إلَى قُرْبِكَ، وَذَرِيعَةً إلَى جَنَّتِكَ

Verily Thou art Possessor of bounty abounding,

إنَّكَ ذو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ،

and Thou art the Munificent, the Generous.

وَأَنْتَ الْجَوَادُ الْكَرِيْمُ.

O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household
and release me from a debt
which makes me lose face,
confuses my mind,
disrupts my thinking,
and prolongs my occupation with attending to it!

I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord,
from worry and thought about debt,
from the distraction and sleeplessness of debt;
so bless Muhammad and his Household
and give me refuge from it!
I seek sanctuary in Thee, my Lord, from
debt's abasement in life
and its ill effects after death,
so bless Muhammad and his Household
and give me sanctuary from it through
a bountiful plenty
or a continually arriving sufficiency!

O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household
prevent me from extravagance and excess,
put me on the course of generous spending and moderation,
teach me excellent distribution,
hold me back through Thy gentleness from squandering,
allow me to attain my provisions through lawful means,
direct my spending toward the gateways of devotion,
and take away from me any possession
which will bring forth pride in me,
lead to insolence,
or drag me in its heels to rebellion!

O God,
make me love the companionship of the poor
and help me be their companion with excellent patience!

Whenever Thou takest away from me

وَ كَانَ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فِي الْمَعُونَةِ عَلٰى قَضَاءِ الدَّيْنِ

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهٖ، وَ هَبْ لِيَ الْعَافِيَةَ مِنْ دَيْنٍ تُخْلِقُ بِهٖ وَجْهِي، وَ يَحَارُ فِيهِ ذِهْنِي، وَ يَتَشَعَّبُ لَهٗ فِكْرِيْ، وَ يَطُوْلُ بِمُمَارَسَتِهٖ شُغْلِيْ.‏ وَ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ، يَا رَبِّ، مِنْ هَمِّ الدَّيْنِ وَ فِكْرِهٖ، وَ شُغْلِ الدَّيْنِ وَ سَهَرِهٖ، فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهٖ، وَ أَعِذْنِيْ مِنْهُ، وَ أَسْتَجِيْرُ بِكَ، يَا رَبِّ، مِنْ ذِلَّتِهٖ فِي الْحَيَاةِ، وَ مِنْ تَبِعَتِهٖ بَعْدَ الْوَفَاةِ، فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهٖ، وَ أَجِرْني مِنْهُ بِوُسْعٍ فَاضِلٍ أَوْ كَفَافٍ وَاصِلٍ. اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهٖ، وَ احْجُبْنِيْ عَنِ السَّرَفِ وَ الِازْدِيَادِ، وَ قَوِّمْنِيْ بِالْبَذْلِ وَ الِاقْتِصَادِ، وَ عَلِّمْنِيْ حُسْنَ التَّقْدِيْرِ، وَ اقْبِضْنِيْ بِلُطْفِكَ عَنِ التَّبْذِيْرِ، وَ أَجْرِ مِنْ أَسْبَابِ الْحَلَالِ أَرْزَاقِي، وَ وَجِّهْ فِي أَبْوَابِ الْبِرِّ إِنْفَاقِي، وَ ازْوِ عَنِّي مِنَ الْمَالِ مَا يُحْدِثُ لِي مَخِيْلَةً أَوْ تَأَدِّياً إِلٰى بَغْيٍ أَوْ مَا أَتَعَقَّبُ مِنْهُ طُغْيَاناً. اَللّٰهُمَّ حَبِّبْ إِلَيَّ صُحْبَةَ الْفُقَرَاءِ، وَ أَعِنِّيْ عَلٰى صُحْبَتِهِمْ بِحُسْنِ الصَّبْرِ. وَ مَا زَوَيْتَ عَنِّيْ مِنْ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَا الْفَانِيَةِ فَاذْخَرْهُ لِي فِي خَزَائِنِكَ الْبَاقِيَةِ. وَ اجْعَلْ مَا خَوَّلْتَنِيْ مِنْ حُطَامِهَا، وَ عَجَّلْتَ لِي مِنْ مَتَاعِهَا بُلْغَةً إِلٰى جِوَارِكَ وَ وُصْلَةً إِلٰى قُرْبِكَ وَ ذَرِيْعَةً إِلٰى جَنَّتِكَ، إِنَّكَ ذُوْ الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيْمِ، وَ أَنْتَ الْجَوَادُ الْكَرِيْمُ.

WA KAANA MIN DUA'AA-IHEE A'LAY-HIS-SALAAMU FIL-MAU'WNATI A'LAA QAZ''AAA-ID-DAY-N
AL-LAAHUM-MA S'AL-LI A'LAA MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AAALIH
WA HAB LEEAL-A'AFEEATA MIN DAY-NIN
TUKH-LIQU BIHEE WAJ-HEE
WA YAH'AARU FEEHEE D'IH-NEE
WA YATASHAA'-A'BU LAHOO FIK-REE
WA YAT'OOLU BIMUMAARASATIHEE SHUGH-LEE
WA AU'WD'U BIKA YAA RAB-BI MIN
HAM-MID-DAY-NI WAFIK-RIH
WA SHUGH-LID-DAY-NI WASAHARIH
FAS'AL-LI A'LAA MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AAALIH
WA AI'D'-NEE MIN-H
WA AS-TAJEERU BIKA YAA RAB-BI
MIN D'IL-LATIHEE FIL-H'AYAAH
WA MIN TABIA'TIHEE BAA'-DAL-WAFAAH
FAS'AL-LI A'LAA MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AAALIH
WA AJIR-NEE MIN-HOO BIWUS-I'N FAAZ''ILIN AW KAFAAFIW-WAAS'IL
AL-LAAHUM-MA S'AL-LI A'LAA MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AAALIH
WAH'-JUB-NEE A'NIS-SARAFI WALIZ-DEEAAD
WA QAW-WIM-NEE BIL-BAD'-LI WALIQ-TIS'AAD
WA A'L-LIM-NEE H'US-NAT-TAQ-DEER
WAQ-BIZ''-NEE BILUT'-FIKA A'NIT-TAB-D'EER
WA AJ-RI MIN AS-BAABIL-H'ALAALI AR-ZAAQEE
WA WAJ-JIH FEEE AB-WAABIL-BIR-RI INFAAQEE
WAZ-WI A'N-NEE MINAL-MAALI MAA YUH'-DITHU LEE MAKH-YALATAN AW TAAD-DEEAN ILAA BAGH-YIN AW MAAA ATAA'Q-QABU MIN-HOO T'UGH-YAANAA
AL-LAAHUM-MA H'AB-BIB ILAY-YA S'UH'-BATAL-FUQARAAA-I WA AI'N-NEE A'LAA S'UH'-BATIHIM BIH'US-NIS'-S'AB-R
WA MAA ZAWAY-TA A'N-NEE MIM-MATAAI'D-DUNYAAL-FAANEEATI FAD'-KHAR-HOO LEE FEE KHAZAAA-INIKAL-BAAQEEAH
WAJ-A'L MAA KHAW-WAL-TANEE MIN H'UT'AAMIHAA WA A'J-JAL-TA LEE MIM-MATAAI'HAA
BUL-GHATAN ILAA JIWAARIK
WA WUS'-LATAN ILAA QUR-BIK
WA D'AREEA'TAN ILAA JAN-NATIK
IN-NAKA D'OOL-FAZ''-LI ALA'Z'EEM
WA ANTAL-JAWAADU ALKAREEM
