دُعَاؤُهُ فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِHis
Supplication in Asking for Water during a Drought
1
O God, water us with rain,
أللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَـا الْغَيْثَ،
1
2
unfold upon us Thy mercy through Thy copious rain
وَانْشُرْ عَلَيْنَا رَحْمَتَـكَ بِغَيْثِكَ
الْمُغْدِقِ

from the driven clouds, so that Thy goodly earth may
grow on all horizons!
مِنَ الْسَّحَابِ الْمُنْسَـاقِ لِنَبَاتِ أَرْضِكَ
الْمُونِقِ فِي جَمِيـعِ الآفَاقِ،

4
Show kindness to Thy servants through the ripening
of the fruit,
وَامْنُنْ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ بِإينَاعِ الثَّمَرَةِ،
4
5
revive Thy land through the blossoming of the
flowers,
وأَحْيِ بِلاَدَكَ بِبُلُوغِ الزَّهَرَةِ.

6
and let Thy angels - the noble scribes - be witness
وَأَشْهِدْ مَلائِكَتَكَ الْكِرَامَ السَّفَرَةَ
6
7
to a beneficial watering from Thee, lasting in its
abundance,
بِسَقْي مِنْكَ نَافِع دَائِم غُزْرُهُ
7
8
plenty in its flow, heavy, quick, soon,
َواسِعٌ دِرَرُهُ وَابِل سَرِيع عَاجِل
8
9
through which Thou revivest what has died, returnest
what has vanished,
تُحْيِي بِهِ مَا قَدْ مَات، وَتَرُدُّ بهِ مَا قَدْ
فَاتَ،

10
bringest forth what is coming,
وَتُخْرِجُ بِهِ مَا هُوَ آت،

11
and providest plentiful foods,
وَتُوَسِّعُ بِهِ فِي الأَقْوَاتِ،
11
12
through heaped up, wholesome, productive clouds, in
reverberating layers,
سَحَاباً مُتَرَاكِماً هَنِيئاً مَرِيئاً طَبَقاً

13
the rain's downpour not without cease,
مُجَلْجَلاً غَيْرَ مُلِثٍّ وَدْقُهُ،
13
14
the lightning's flashes not without fruit!
وَلاَ خُلَّب بَرْقُهُ.
14
15
O God, give us water through rain, helping,
productive, fertilizing, widespread,
أللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا غَيْثاً مَغيثَاً مَرِيعاً
مُمْرِعاً عَرِيْضَاً،
15
16
plentiful, abundant, bringing back the risen,
restoring the broken!
وَاسِعاً غَزِيراً تَرُدُّ بِهِ النَّهِيضَ وَتَجْبُرُ
بِهِ الْمَهِيضَ.

O God, give us water with a watering through which
Thou wilt make the stone hills pour,
أللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا سَقْياً تُسِيلُ مِنْهُ
الظِّرابَ،
17
18
fill the cisterns,
وَتَمْلاءُ مِنْهُ الْجِبَابَ،
18
19
flood the rivers,
وَتُفَجِّرُ بِهِ الأنْهَارَ،
19
20
make the trees grow,
وَتُنْبِتُ بِهِ الأشْجَارَ
20
21
bring down prices in all the lands,
وَتُرْخِصُ بِهِ الأسْعَارَ فِي جَمِيع الأمْصَارِ،
21
22
invigorate the beasts and the creatures,
وَتَنْعَشُ بِهِ البَهَائِمَ وَالْخَلْقَ،
22
23
perfect for us the agreeable things of provision,
وَتُكْمِلُ لَنَا بِهِ طَيِّبَاتِ الرِّزْقِ،
23
24
make grow for us the fields,
وَتُنْبِتُ لَنَا بِهِ الزَّرْعَ،
24
25
let flow for us the teats,
وَتُدِرُّ بِهِ الضَّرْعَ،
25
26
and add for us strength to our strength!
وَتَزِيدُنَا بِهِ قُوَّةً إلَى قُوَّتِنَا.

27
O God, make not the cloud's shadow over us a burning
wind,
أللَّهُمَّ لا تَجْعَلْ ظِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا سَمُوماً
27
28
allow not its coldness to be cutting,
وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ بَرْدَهُ عَلَيْنَا حُسُوماً،
28
29
let not its pouring down upon us be a stoning,
وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ صَوْبَهُ عَلَيْنَا رُجُوماً،
29
30
and make not its waters for us bitter!
وَلا تَجْعَلْ مَاءَهُ عَلَيْنَا أُجَاجـاً.

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد،
31
32
and provide us with the blessings of the heavens and
the earth!
وَارْزُقْنَا مِنْ بَرَكَاتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضِ،
32
33
"Thou art powerful over everything"! (3:26)
إنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء قَدِيرٌ .

flood the rivers,
make the trees grow,
bring down prices in all the lands,
invigorate the beasts and the creatures,
perfect for us the agreeable things of provision,
make grow for us the fields,
let flow for us the teats,
and add for us strength to our strength!
O God,
make not the cloud's shadow over us a burning wind,
allow not its coldness to be cutting,
let not its pouring down upon us be a stoning,
and make not its waters for us bitter!
O God,
bless Muhammad and his Household
and provide us with the blessings of the heavens and the earth!
Thou art powerful over everything
