O God, inspire us to obey You,

al-lahum-ma al-him-naa t'aaa'taka

اَللَّهُمَّ أَلْهِمْنا طاعَتَكَ،

turn us aside from disobeying You,

wa jan-nib-naa maa'-s'eeatak

وَجَنّـِبْنا مَعْصِيَتَكَ،

make it easy for us to reach the seeking of Your good pleasure which we wish,

wa yas-sir lana buloogha maa nataman-naa mini ab-tighaaa-i riz''-waanik

وَيَسّـِرْ لَنا بُلُوغَ ما نَتَمَنَّىٰ مِنِ ابْتِغاءِ رِضْوانِكَ،

set us down in the midst of Your Gardens,

wa ah'-lil-naa buh'-booh'ata jinaanik

وَأَحْلِلْنا بُحْبُوحَةَ جِنانِكَ،

dispel from our insights the clouds of misgiving,

wa aq-shaa' a'm-bas'aaa-irinaa sah'aabalir-teeaab

وَاقْشَعْ عَنْ بَصائِرِنا سَحابَ الإِرْتِيابِ،

uncover from our hearts the wrappings of doubt and the veil,

wa ak-shif a'n quloobinaaa agh-sheeatal-mir-yati wal-h'ijaab

وَاكْشِفْ عَنْ قُلُوبِنا أَغْشِيَةَ الْمِرْيَةِ وَالْحِجابِ،

make falsehood vanish from our innermost minds,

wa az-hiqil-baat'ila a'n z''amaaa-irinaa

وَأَزْهِقِ الْباطِلَ عَنْ ضَمائِرِنا،

and fix the truth in our secret thoughts,

wa ath-bitil-h'aq-qa fee saraaa-irinaa

وَأَثْبِتِ الْحَقَّ فِي سَرائِرِنا،

for doubts and opinions fertilise temptations

fa in-nash-shukooka waz'-z'unoona lawaaqih'ul-fitani

فَإنَّ الشُّكُوكَ وَالظُّنُونَ لَواقِحُ الْفِتَنِ،

and pollute the purity of gifts and kindnesses!

wa mukad-diratul-lis'af-wil-manaaa-ihee wal-minan

وَمُكَدّ ِرَةٌ لِصَفْوِ الْمَنائِحِ وَالْمِنَنِ

O God, carry us in the ships of Your deliverance,

al-lahum-ma ah'-mil-naa fee sufuni najaatik

اَللَّهُمَّ احْمِلْنا فِي سُفُنِ نَجاتِكَ،

give us to enjoy the pleasure of whispered prayer to You,

wa mat-tia'-naa bilad'eed'i munajaatik

وَمَتّـِعْنا بِلَذِيْذِ مُناجاتِكَ،

make us drink at the pools of Your love,

wa aw-rid-naa h'eeaaz''a h'ub-bik

وَأَوْرِدْنا حِياضَ حُبّـِكَ،

let us taste the sweetness of Your affection and nearness,

wa ad'iq-naa h'alaawata wud-dika wa qur-bik

وَأَذِقْنا حَلاوَةَ وُدّ ِكَ وَقُرْبِكَ،

allow us to struggle in You,

waj-a'l jihaadana feek

وَاجْعَلْ جِهادَنا فِيكَ،

preoccupy us with obeying You,

wa ham-manaa fee t'aaa'tik

وَهَمَّنا فِي طاعَتِكَ،

and purify our intentions in devoting works to You,

wa akh-lis' nee-yaatinaa fee mua'amalatik

وَأَخْلِصْ نِيَّاتِنا فِي مُعامَلَتِكَ،

for we exist through You and belong to You,

fa in-naa bika wa lak

فَإِنَّا بِكَ وَلَكَ،

and we have no one to mediate with You but You!

wa laa wasylata lanaaa ilay-ka il-laaa ant

وَلا وَسِيلَةَ لَنا إلَيْكَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ

My God, place me among the chosen, the good,

ilaahee aj-a'l-nee minal-mus'-t'afay-nal-akh-yaar

إِلـٰهِي اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الأَخْيارِ،

Join me to the righteous, the pious,

wa al-h'iq-nee bis'-s'aalih'eenal-ab-raar

وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ الأَبْرارِ،

the first to reach generous gifts,

as-saabiqeena ilaa almak-rumaati

السَّابِقِينَ إلَىٰ الْمَكْرُماتِ،

the swift to come upon good things,

almusaarie'ena ilaal-khay-rati

الْمُسارِعِينَ إلَىٰ الْخَيْراتِ،

the workers of the abiding acts of righteousness,

al-a'amileena lil-baaqeeaatis'-s'aalih'aati

الْعامِلِينَ لِلْباقِياتِ الصَّالِحاتِ،

the strivers after elevated degrees!

as-saae'ena ila rafeei'd-darajaati

السَّاعِينَ إلىٰ رَفِيعِ الدَّرَجاتِ،

You are powerful over everything

in-naka a'laa kul-li shay-in qadeer

إنَّكَ عَلىٰ كُلّ ِ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ،

and disposed to respond!

wa bil-ijaabati jadeer

وَبِالإجابَةِ جَدِيرٌ

By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful!

birah'-matika yaaa ar-h'amar-raah'imeen

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
