“But as I have been hindered by the course of time, and (Allah’s) decree has prevented me from helping you, and as I could not fight those who fought you, and was not able to show hostility to those who showed hostility to you, I will, therefore, lament you morning and evening, and will weep blood in place of tears, out of my anguish for you and my sorrow for all that befell you…” —Imam al-Mahdi (ajtfs)
Of the several prescribed Ziyarat of Imam al-Husain (as), one was recited by Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH) and reached us through one of his four special deputies. For that reason, it is known as al-Muqaddasa. One of the most important features of this Ziyarat is that in different phrases, Imam al-Mahdi (as) graphically describes the events of Ashura and the agony that Imam al-Husain (as) and his family faced on that horrific and ominous day.
The Ziarat continue in the form of a prayer ---->
The dua continues
Go to next tab for the Dua after Ziyarat ---->
Then stand beside the upper side of the grave, face towards the Qibla and perform a two-unit Ziyarat prayer. Recite Chapter 21 (al-Anbiya) in the first unit and Chapter 59 (al-Hashr) in the second unit of the prayer, and recite the following
lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhul ħalīmul karīm,
There is no deity but Allah, the forbearing, the generous.
lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhul aliyyul ađīm,
There is no deity but Allah, the supreme, the great.
lā 'ilāha 'llal-lāhu rabbus-samāwātis-sabi wal 'arađhīnas-sab,
There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens and the seven earths,
wa mā fīhinna wa mā baynahunn,
and whatever is in them and whatever is between them.
khilāfan li 'adā'ih,
(By this, I am) opposing (the belief of) His enemies,
wa takdhīban liman adala bih,
disavowing whomever has turned away from Him,
wa 'iqrāran lirubūbiyyatih,
confessing His Lordship,
wa khuđhū'an li izzatih,
and surrendering to His majesty.
al'awwalu bighayri 'awwal
He is the first other than being the first (in number).
wal ākhiru 'ilā ghayri ākhir,
He is the last without having an end.
ađđāhiru alā kulli shay'in biqudratih,
He is dominant (Zahir) over everything by His power.
al-bāţinu dūna kulli shay'in biilmihi wa luţfih,
He is hidden (Batin) as He knows underneath of every thing by His knowledge and His subtlety.
lā taqiful uqūlu alā kunhi ađamatih,
Intellects cannot comprehend the depth of His grandeur.
wa lā tudrikul 'awhāmu ħaqīqata māhiyyatih,
Thoughts cannot grasp the reality of His Essence.
wa lā tatašawwarul 'anfusu maāni kayfiyyatih,
Souls cannot imagine the meanings of His (created) qualities.
muţţalian alađh-đhamā'ir,
He knows well the innermost thoughts (of His servants),

yalamu khā'inatal 'ayuni wa mā tukhfiš-šudūr,
and knows the treachery of the eyes, and all that the hearts (of men) conceal.[1]

My Allah! I bear You as witness of my acknowledgement of Your Messenger (PBUH&HF) and my faith in him,
wa ilmī bimanzilatih,
and my recognition of his status.
wa 'innī 'ash-hadu 'annahun-nabiyyul-ladhi naţaqatil ħikmatu bifađhlih,
I bear witness that he was the Prophet by whose favor wisdom was given voice,

of whom (previous) prophets gave glad tidings,

biraħmatika yā 'arħamar-rāħimīn,
By Your mercy, O the most merciful of the merciful!
allāhumma šalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammad,
My Allah! Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
wa 'awħishnī minad-dunyā wa ānisnī bil ākhirah,
and estrange me from (the attractions of) the world, and make me familiar with (the affairs of) the hereafter.
fa 'innahu lā yūħishu minad-dunyā 'illā khawfuk,
Certainly, nothing causes alienation from this world except fear of You,
wa lā yu'nisu bil ākhirati 'illā rajā'uk,
and nothing causes to be accustomed to the hereafter except hope for Your (mercy).
allāhumma lakal ħujjatu lā alayk,
O Allah! For You is the argument, not against You,
wa 'ilaykal mushtakā lā mink,
and to You is complained, not from You.
fašalli alā muħammadin wa ālih,
Thus, bless Muhammad and his family,
wa 'ainnī alā nafsiyađ-đālimatil āšiyah,
and assist me against my unjust and disobedient soul,
wa shahwatiyal ghālibah,
and my dominant desire.
wakhtim lī bil āfiyah,
And conclude me with a safe and healthy end.
allāhumma 'innastighfārī 'iyyāka wa 'ana muširrun alā mā nahayta qillatu ħayā',
O Allah! It is due to my shamelessness that I ask forgiveness while I insist on what You have forbidden.
wa tarkiyal 'istighfāra maa ilmī bisiati ħilmika tađhyī'un liħaqqir-rajā'
On the other hand, if I do not ask for forgiveness with my knowledge of Your abundant forbearance, it will be wasting the right of hope (to You).
allāhumma 'inna dhunūbi tu'yisunī 'an 'arjūk,
My Allah! (due to my weak faith) my sins discourage me from requesting You,
wa inna ilmi bisiati rahmatika yamnaunī 'an 'akhshāk,
and my knowledge about Your vast mercy prevents me from fearing You.
fašalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammad,
Thus, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
wa šaddiq rajā'ī lak,
and confirm my hope in You,
wa kadh-dhib khawfi mink,
negate my fear of You,
wa kun lī inda 'aħsani đanni bika yā 'akramal 'akramīn
and be for me according to the best of what I expect and believe about You, O the most generous of the generous!
allāhumma šalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammadin, wa 'ayyidnī bil išmah,
O Allah! Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and support me by protection (from sins),
wa 'anţiq lisānī bil ħikmah,
Make my tongue speak wisdom,
wajalnī mimman yandamu alā mā đhayyaahu fī 'amsih,
Place me among those who regret what they wasted yesterday,
wa lā yaghbanu ħađđahu fī yawmih,
do not aggrieve their portion today,
wa lā yahummu lirizqi ghadih,
and do not worry about the sustenance of tomorrow.
allāhumma 'innal ghaniyya manistaghnā bika waftaqara 'ilayk,
O Allah! Certainly, rich is he who suffices himself with You and considers himself in need of You,
wal faqīra manistaghnā bikhalqika anka,
and poor is he who feels that he can suffice himself through Your creation without You.
fašalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammad,
Thus, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
wa 'aghninī an khalqika bik,
and suffice me from Your creation by Yourself,
wajalnī mimman lā yabsuţu kaffan 'illā 'ilayk,
and put me amongst those who do not extend their hand except towards You.
allāhumma 'innash-shaqiyya man qanaţa wa 'amāmahut-tawbatu wa warā'ahur-rahmah,
My Allah! Certainly, wretched is he who despairs while repentance is placed before him and mercy is after him,
wa 'in kuntu đhaīfal amali fa 'innī fī raħmatika qawiyyal 'amal,
Even though I have been weak in action, I have strong hope in Your mercy,
fahab lī đhafa amalī liquwwati 'amalī,
Thus, forgive the weakness of my action in light of the strength of my hope.
allāhumma 'in kunta talamu 'an mā fī 'ibādika man huwa 'aqsā qalban minnī wa 'ađamu minnī dhanbā,
O Allah! Even if You know there is no one amongst Your servants with harder heart and greater sins than mine,
fa 'innī 'alamu 'annahu lā mawlā 'ađamu minka ţawlā,
I certainly know that there is no master more generous than You,
wa 'awsau raħmatan wa afwā,
with greater mercy and forgiveness.
fayā man huwa 'awħadu fī raħmatih,
Then, O He Who is unique in His mercy!
'ighfir liman laysa bi 'awħada fī khaţī'atih,
Forgive him, who is not unique in his mistakes.
allāhumma 'innaka 'amartanā faašaynā,
O Allah! Certainly, You commanded us, but we have disobeyed,
wa nahayta famantahaynā,
forbade us, but we did not desist,
wa dhakkarta fatanāsaynā,
reminded us, but we remained unmindful,
wa baššarta fataāmaynā,
enlightened us, but we behaved blindly,
wa ħadh-dharta fataaddaynā,
and warned us, but we transgressed.
wa mā kāna dhālika jazā'a 'ihsānika 'ilaynā,
This was not the repayment of Your kindness to us,
wa 'anta 'alamu bimā 'alannā wa 'akhfaynā,
and You know what we have disclosed and have concealed,
and You are aware of what we will do and have done.
fašalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammad,
Thus, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
wa lā tu'ākhidhnā bimā 'akhta'nā wa nasīnā,
and pardon us for our mistakes and our forgetfulness,
wa hab lanā ħuqūqaka ladaynā,
forgive us the negligence of Your rights by us,
wa 'atimma 'iħsānaka 'ilaynā,
complete Your beneficence towards us,
wa 'asbil raħmataka alaynā,
and cause Your mercy to descend upon us.
allāhumma 'innā natawassalu 'ilayka bihādhaš-šiddīqil 'imām,
My Allah! We seek nearness to You by means of this truthful Imam,
wa nas'aluka bil ħaqqil-ladhi jaaltahu lah wa lijaddihi rasūlika wa li 'abawayhi aliyyin wa fāţimata 'ahli baytir-raħmah,
and request You by the rights that You have placed for him, his grandfather, his parents, Ali and Fatima, the household of mercy,
'idrārar-rizqil-lladhi bihī qiwāmu ħayātinā, wa šalāħu 'aħwāli iyālinā,
an abundant flow of livelihood that maintains our life and the welfare of our dependents.
fa 'antal karīmul-ladhi tuţī min siah,
Certainly You are the generous one who grants abundantly,
wa tamnau min qudrah
and holds back having power (to fulfill).
wa naħnu nas'aluka minar-rizqi mā yakūnu šalāhan liddunyā wa balāghan lil ākhirah,
We request from You a livelihood that brings the goodness of this world and the pleasure of the hereafter,
allāhumma šalli alā muħammadin wa āli muħammad,
O Allah! Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,

wa ātinā fid-dunyā ħasanatan wa fil ākhirati ħasanatan wa qinā adhāban-nār.
Give us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and shield us from the torment of the fire.[1]
Then, complete your prayer, and recite Tasbihat (of Lady Fatima(PBUH)), and then place the side of you face on the ground and say the following forty times:
subħānal-lāhi wal ħamdulil-lāhi wa lā 'ilāha 'illal-lāhu wal-lāhu akbar,
Glory be to Allah! Praise be to Allah! There is no deity but Allah! Allah is greater (than being described).
Following that, ask Allah for protection, salvation, forgiveness, success in performing good deeds, and the acceptance of the actions that you do to seek His nearness and perform for His sake.
zādal-lāhu fī sharafikum, was-salāmu alaykum wa raħmatul-lāhi wa barakātuh.
May Allah increase your honor. Peace be upon you, the mercy of Allah, and His blessings.

Ziyarat of Martyrs ( al-Shuhada)on Ashura Day - Iqbal Aamal Pdf
The following is reported with a chain of narrations by my grandfather Al-Sheikh Abi Ja‟far Muhammad ibn al-Hassan al-Tusi – may God have mercy on him – on the authority of Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ay'yash. Al-Sheikh Al-Salih Abu Mansoor ibn Abdul Na'eem ibn Al-Nu‟man al-Baghdadi – may God have mercy on him – narrated the following.
In the year 252 A.H. when I was a small child and my father – may God have mercy on him – perished, I received the following pilgrimage supplications for my master Al-Hussein (as) and the martyrs from Al-Sheikh Muhammad ibn Qalib al-Isfahany.
"In the Name of God, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. When you decide to recite the pilgrimage supplications of Al-Hussein– may God be pleased with him - stop at the position of his head that is the shrine of Ali ibn al-Hussein (as). Then turn your face towards the Qibla where the martyrs are buried and first point to Ali ibn al-Hussein (as) and say the following:

Back ground and Notes Ziyārah al-Shuhadāʾ (Arabic:زيارة الشهداء) or Ziyārah al-Nāḥiya Ghayr al-Mashhūra (زيارة الناحية غير المشهورة) is among ziyaratnamas which al-Sayyid b. Tawus has mentioned in Iqbal al-a'mal among recommended practices for the Day of 'Ashura'. This ziyarah contains the names of the martyrs of Karbala and begins with, "Peace be upon the first one martyred from the best of descendants".[1] Before al-Sayyid b. Tawus, this ziyarah was mentioned in al-Shaykh al-Mufid's al-Mazar[2] and Ibn al-Mashhadi's al-Mazar al-kabir.[3] Content In this ziyarah, after a brief greeting to Imam al-Husayn (a), the names of all martyrs of Karbala are mentioned and greetings are sent, then their killers are mentioned and curses are sent to them.
This ziyarah, including some additions such as the ziyarah of Imam al-Husayn (a), Ali Akbar (a) and some other martyrs, is mentioned among recommended practices for the first day of Rajab and the eve of Sha'ban 15th as al-Ziyarah al-Rajabiyya of Imam al-Husayn (a). Al-Ziyarah al-Rajabiyya may be an independent ziyarah.
Chain of Transmission
This ziyarah is mentioned in al-Sayyid b. Tawus's Iqbal al-a'mal, al-Mazar al-kabir and Misbah al-za'ir, but it is not mentioned in old references such as Kamil al-ziyarat and Misbah al-mutahajjid.[4]
Al-Sayyid b. Tawus quoted from his grandfather, al-Shaykh al-Tusi from Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad b. Ahmad b. al-'Ayyash from Abu Mansur b. 'Abd al-Mun'im b. Nu'man al-Baghdadi that this ziyarah was given by Imam (a) to al-Shaykh Muhammad b. Ghalib al-Isfahani in 252/866. Since only two transmitters are mentioned between the time of al-Shaykh al-Tusi (d. 460/1067) and the time of the Minor Occultation (260/874-329/940-1), it is possible that some transmitters of this hadith have been missed. The names of 72 martyrs of Karbala and 8 other martyred companions of Imam (a) such as Muslim b. 'Aqil and the names of their killers are mentioned in this ziyarah. Al-'Allama al-Majlisi has mentioned this ziyarah in Bihar al-anwar.[5] In Ansar al-Husayn (a), Muhammad Mahdi Shams al-Din has not considered the chain of transmission of this ziyarah in al-Sayyid b. Tawus's Iqbal valid due to transmission of two unknown persons and a weak person. The chain of transmission of this ziyarah in Bihar al-anwar quoted from Ibn al-Mashhadi's al-Mazar al-kabir has the same problem.[6]
With regards to the date of issuance of this ziyarah in 252/866,[7] it must have been issued either by Imam al-Hadi (a) (martyred in 254/868) or Imam al-Hasan al-'Askari (a), not Imam al-Mahdi (a), because that time, he (a) was not born yet.[8]
