Now we shall state the etiquette of Ziyaarat: Mohaddis Qummi reports that there are many etiquette of Ziyaarat but here only few will be elaborated:
1. It is recommended to bathe oneself before beginning the journey of ziyaarat.
2. It is advisable to avoid vain language, disputes, and heated discussions during journeys of ziyaarat.
3. It is recommended to do the bathing before visiting of the Holy Imams’ shrines and to say the associated supplicatory prayers.
4. It is required to be pure from ceremonial impurities.
5. It is recommended to put on pure, clean, and new clothes, preferably white.
6. While going to a holy shrine, it is recommended to walk in short steps with tranquility and dignity, to be submissive, lowering the head, and to avoid looking upwards or to the sides.
7. It is recommended to perfume oneself except when the holy shrine of Imam al-Husain (a.s.) is visited. 8. While directing towards the holy shrine, it is advisable to utter statements of glorifying Almighty Allah, such as اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ (Allah is Great) اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ (all praise be to Allah), سُبْحَانَ اللهِ (All glory be to Allah), لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہُ (There is no god but Allah) and to perfume one’s mouth with the endless scent of اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ (O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad).
9. It is recommended to stop at the outer gate of the holy shrine and seek entrance permission (from the holy person buried in that shrine). It is also recommended to do one’s best to be at the utmost degree of deference and submission, to ponder over the greatness and eminence of the holy person buried in the visited shrine, to believe that this holy person can see, hear, and respond to the greetings of the visitor, as is confirmed by the forms of asking entrance permission (اِذْنِ دُخُوْل), to think deeply about his compassion and love for his followers in general and his visitors in particular, and to call in mind one’s corruption and disobedience to the Holy Infallibles (a.s.) through breaking their orders and acting unjustly to them as well as to their adherents and followers. In fact, such acts of disobedience cause harm to the Holy Infallibles (a.s.) themselves. If a visitor thinks for a few minutes of these matters and ponders over his behavior in general, his feet will no more be able to go on walking, his heart will be fearful and his eyes will shed tears. This is, in fact, the true spirit of the ziyaarat etiquette in general. 10. It is recommended to kiss the high threshold of the holy shrine.[3]
Shaykh al-Shaheed says, “It is even more preferable to prostrate oneself at the threshold in the intention of thanking Almighty Allah for reaching such a sacred place.”
11. As is done when entering and leaving mosques, it is recommended to enter the holy shrine with the right foot and to leave it with the left.
12. It is recommended to stop as near as possible to the tomb that one can stick to it. In fact, it is illusive to believe that to stop far away from the tomb is a sort of politeness. Narrations have confirmed that one should lean to and kiss the tomb.
13. It is advisable, when saying the ziyaarat, to turn the face towards the tomb and turn the back towards the qiblah direction. Seemingly, this etiquette is dedicated to the ziyaarats of the Holy Infallibles (a.s.).
After saying the ziyaarat, it is recommended to put the right cheek on the tomb and pray Almighty Allah beseechingly, and, then, to put the left cheek on the tomb and pray Almighty Allah, in the name of the holy person buried in the tomb, to include him/her with the persons for whom the holy person buried in the tomb will intercede. It is also recommended to pray Almighty Allah as insistently as possible and then move to the side of the head (of the holy entombed person), stand erect towards head side, face the qiblah direction, and pray Almighty Allah again.
14. It is highly advisable to stand erect while uttering the ziyaarat except when one is too weak to stand up for a long time due to an ailment, such as backache, foot ache and the like.
15. Before beginning with the ziyaarat, it is recommended to raise the voice saying اَللهُ اَكْبَرُ when the shrine is seen. In this respect, It is narrated that one who utters the following statement لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہُ وَحْدَہٗ لَا شَرِیْكَ لَہٗ at the first sight of a holy shrine will be included with the Grand Pleasure of Almighty Allah:
16. It is advisable to follow the instructions that are reported from the Holy Imams (a.s.) concerning the etiquette and forms of ritual ziyaarats. Thus, it is necessary to neglect the fabricated forms of ziyaarat that have been invented by some unwise ordinary people in order to attract the attentions of the ignorant people. Shaykh al-Kulayni reports Abd al-Rahim al-Qasir to have narrated that he, once, visited Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) and said, ‘May Allah accept me as ransom for you! I have composed a prayer (dua) for myself.’ The Imam (a.s.) answered, “Save me from your composition. Whenever you encounter a problem, you may resort to the tomb of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.), offer a two units prayer there, and provide it as gift to him… etc.”
17. It is recommended to offer the Ziyaarat Prayer (salaat al-Ziyaarat) the least of which is two unit. In this respect, Shaykh al-Shaheed says, ‘As for those who visit the tomb of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), they may offer salaat al-Ziyaarat in the shrine. And those who visit the tombs of the Holy Imams (a.s.) may offer it near the head of the tomb. It is however legal to offer it at the courtyard of the shrine.’ Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) says, ‘In my conception, as for salaat al-Ziyaarat, as well as the other prayers performed in the holy shrines, it is preferable to offer them behind the tomb or to the side of the head.’
18. If there is no particular form of salaat al-Ziyaarat, it is recommended to recite Surah Hamd and Surah Yasin in the first unit and Surah Hamd and Surah Rahmaan in the second unit. It is also recommended to beseech Almighty Allah after these prayers for the worldly welfare as well as success on the Resurrection Day. It is also recommended to pray for all people generally and especially for your parents in order that his prayers will be more acceptable.
19. Shaykh al-Shaheed says, ‘If one enters a shrine and finds that a congregational prayer is held, the prayer must be offered before doing the ziyaarat rites. The same thing must be done if one enters a shrine at the time of an obligatory prayer. Because the ziyaarat is the purpose, one may do the ziyaarat rites on other conditions. When a congregational prayer is held while one is doing the ziyaarat rites, it is recommended to cut off the rites and join the congregational prayer. It is thus discouraged to ignore the congregational prayers. Moreover, the supervisors in the shrine must order the zaaer (i.e. performer of ziyaarat) to join the congregational prayer.
20. In the word of Shaykh al-Shaheed, to recite a portion of the Holy Qur’an in the shrines and to dedicate the recitation to the soul of the holy person buried in that shrine is one of the etiquette of ziyaarat. Of course, this act brings about rewards to the zaaer and shows honoring of the holy person buried in the shrine.
21. It is advisable to refrain from nonsensical and meaningless speech in the holy shrines and to avoid discussing the worldly affairs. Of course, nonsense and offensive speech are discommended everywhere and at all times. Such language stops sustenance and results in hardheartedness, especially in such pure places and under such superior domes about whose superiority and highness, Almighty Allah has said,
In houses which Allah has permitted to be exalted and that His name may be remembered in them; there glorify Him therein in the mornings and the evenings.[4]
22. As I have confirmed in my book of Hadiyyah al-Zaaer, it is recommended not to raise one’s voice with the recitals of the ziyaarat formulas. 23. At leaving, it is recommended to bid farewell to the Imam (a.s.) through reciting the formulas dedicated to so (وَدَعْ) or any similar formulas.
24. It is advisable to declare repentance, implore Almighty Allah for forgiveness, and pray Him to make the deeds and words after the Ziyaarat better than one’s deeds and words before it.
25. It is recommended to give some money to the custodians of the holy shrines. As a matter of fact, the custodians of the holy shrines must be virtuous, righteous, religious, and honorable. They are required to respect the visitor (zuwwar) (pl. zaaer) and to stand their behaviors. They must not wreak their wrath upon those zuwwar or shout at them. Instead, they must settle all the needs of the zuwwar and guide the strangers if they are lost. In general, the custodians are required to act as servants, to arrange and guard the holy shrine, to watch over the zuwwar and to do whatever necessary.
26. It is also recommended to give some money to the neighbors of the holy shrines – the poor, the needy, and the modest, especially the Sayyids (i.e. descendants of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.)) and the students of religious sciences who accepted to live in poverty, alienation, and neediness for the sake of glorifying the rites of Almighty Allah. Hence, those are the worthiest of receiving charity and custody.
27. Shaykh al-Shaheed says, ‘Among the etiquette of ziyaarat is to hurry in leaving the holy shrine when the ziyaarat is accomplished, so that the sanctity of the shrine will be preserved and eagerness to repeat ziyaarat will be aroused.’
He further says, ‘When they perform ziyaarat, women must isolate themselves from men. Preferably, women may perform ziyaarat at night. They may also disguise themselves by putting ordinary clothes rather than precious clothes, so that they are not recognized. They may also try to hide and veil themselves. However, it is legal, yet discouraged, for women to perform ziyaarat amongst men.’
In point of fact, the previous recommendation of Shaykh al-Shaheed manifests the horrible amount of hideousness and repulsiveness that some women, these days, commit. As they come to the holy shrines, they adorn themselves, put on their best clothes, and stand side by side with men inside the holy shrines. They, moreover, push men with their bodies so as to find themselves places near the holy tombs, or sit in the direction of the qiblah where men offer prayers for reciting the ziyaarat formulas. They thus attract attentions and divert men from acts of worship, beseeching to Almighty Allah, and weeping for themselves at these sacred areas. By doing so, they bring to themselves sins and offenses. The ziyaarats of such women must be decided as undesirable.
In this respect, Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s.) has reported Imam Ali Ameer al-Momineen (a.s.) as saying to the people of Iraq, يَا اَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ نُبِّئْتُ اَنَّ نِسَاءَكُمْ يُوَافِيْنَ الرِّجَالَ فِيْ الطَّرِيْقِ اَ مَا تَسْتَحْيُوْنَ؟ “I have been informed that your women are meeting men on the public ways. Are you not ashamed?”
Then he (a.s.) said:لَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ لَا يَغَارُ.“Curse of Allah be upon him who is not pious.”
In ‘Man Laa Yahzorohu al-Faqeeh’, it is mentioned that al-Asbagh ibn Nubatah reported Imam Ali Ameer al-Momineen (a.s.) as saying, ' “In the later age, which is actually the worst of ages, when the Hour (of Resurrection) comes near, there will appear women – unveiling themselves, exposing themselves, adorning themselves, being out of the religion, entering in seditious matters, inclining to lusts, hurrying to their pleasures, and violating the inviolable things; therefore, they will abide in Hellfire forever.”
28. When the area around the holy tombs is overcrowded, those who are nearest to the holy tombs are required to hurry up and end their ziyaarat so as to give others the opportunity to come near the holy tomb and win the honor of approaching these holy tombs.[5]
29. When the pilgrims have entered the precints of the holy shrine then it is the best place and opportunity for them to invoke the Almighty Allah for the early reappearance of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.). So the pilgrims should be mindful of their responsibilities in this regard.
30. As one can perform the ziyaarat of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) at any place so if he has got a chance to be in the holy shrine of any infallible Imams (a.s.) he should avail of the opportunity to illuminate his heart to enact his basic responsibility by reciting the ziyaarat of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) Beginning of Etiquette of Ziyaarat
As soon as journey for holy Mashhad starts, the etiquette of the ziyaarat also begin. Hence one should make himself ready mentally and spiritually from the very beginning of the journey so as to get the favours and attention of Imam Reza (a.s.) completely.
This fact becomes quite clear from the traditions of the Family of Revelation (a.s.) about the guidance for the time starting the journey that the zaaer should have internal ceremonial purification and actually prepared.
That is why in some ziyaarat (first ziyaarat of Imam Reza (a.s.) some etiquette have been stated for the time of starting the journey towards Mashhad-e-Muqaddas.
It is recommended (Mustahab) to be attentive towards the etiquette as soon as the journey takes place. And while inside the holy shrine of Imam Reza (a.s.) be careful to follow the decorum of the ziyaarat.
More Traditions , Status and benefits of visting the Shrine
Perform Ghusl before you leave your house (at your hometown) and say the following words:

When you arrive there safely, Allah willing, and you intend to visit the Imam (peace be upon him), you may perform Ghusl and say the following

You may put on the purest and cleanest of your clothes, walk barefooted with tranquility and submission, and mention Almighty Allah in your heart, repeating the following statements:
While entering the sacred shrine, you may say the following words:
You may then walk towards the tomb to stop there, face it, and say Audio with dua
You may then sit to the side of the Imam’s head and say the following words:
You may then throw yourself on the tomb and say the following prayer:
You may then raise your right hand towards the sky, stretch out your left hand on the tomb, and say the following prayer:
You may turn to the side of the Imam’s feet and say the following words:
Then supplicate fervently pronouncing la'nah (anathema) on the killers of Ameerul Momineen, Imam Hasan, Imam Hussain (peace be upon them) and those who shed the blood of the family of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him and his family). Invocation of Almighty Allah’s curse on the enemies of the Holy Imams can be said in any language or form. However, the most appropriate form may be the following, which is quoted from some validly reported supplications:
Salat after Ziyarat
You may then return to the side of the Imam’s head and offer a two-unit prayer in which you may recite Surah Yasin (No. 36) after Surah al-Fatihah in one unit and Surah al-Rahman (No. 55) after Surah al-Fatihah in the other. ‘Zakheerah al-Aakherah’book says if anyone is unable to recite Surah Yasin and Surah Rahmaan in Salaat of Ziyaarat, then any Surah can be recited.Pray for yourself, your parents, and your brothers and sisters-in-faith as much as you can.
You may stay at the side of the Imam’s head as long as you wish, offering all your prayers there.

In the book of Tuhfat al-Za'ir, Shaykh al-Mufid states that it is recommended to say the following prayer after accomplishing the prayer of visiting Imam al-Rida’s (peace be upon him) tomb:
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ
allahumma inni as'aluka ya allahu
O Allah, I beseech You, O Allah
ٱلدَّائِمُ فِي مُلْكِهِ
aldda'imu fi mulkihi
Who is permanent in His kingdom,
ٱلْقَائِمُ فِي عِزِّهِ
alqa'imu fi `izzihi
self-subsisting in His almightiness,
ٱلْمُطَاعُ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ
almuta`u fi sultanihi
obeyed in His authority,
ٱلْمُتَفَرِّدُ فِي كِبْرِيَائِهِ
almutafarridu fi kibriya'ihi
unique in His pride,
ٱلْمُتَوَحِّدُ فِي دَيْمُومَةِ بَقَائِهِ
almutawahhidu fi daymumiyyati baqa'ihi
one and only in the perpetuity of His intransience,
ٱلْعَادِلُ فِي بَرِيَّتِهِ
al`adilu fi bariyyatihi
fair with His creatures,
ٱلْعَالِمُ فِي قَضِيَّتِهِ
al`alimu fi qadiyyatihi
knowing of His issue,
ٱلْكَرِيمُ فِي تَأْخِيرِ عُقُوبَتِهِ
alkarimu fi ta'khiri `uqubatihi
and noble in delaying His punishment.
إِلٰهِي حَاجَاتِي مَصْرُوفَةٌ إِلَيْكَ
ilahi hajati masrufatun ilayka
O my God, my requests are aimed at You
وَآمَالِي مَوْقُوفَةٌ لَدَيْكَ
wa amali mawqufatun ladayka
and my hopes are addressed to You exclusively.
وَكُلَّ مَا وَفَّقْتَنِي مِنْ خَيْرٍ
wa kulla ma waffaqtani min khayrin
As to all items of goodness that You have granted me the success to attain,
فَأَنْتَ دَلِيلِي عَلَيْهِ وَطَرِيقِي إِلَيْهِ
fa'nta dalili `alayhi wa tariqi ilayhi
it is You Who is my guide to them and my path towards them.
يَا قَدِيراً لاََ تَؤُودُهُ ٱلْمَطَالِبُ
ya qadiran la ta'uduhu almatalibu
O Omnipotent Who cannot be thwarted by requests!
يَا مَلِيّاً يَلْجَأُ إِلَيْهِ كُلُّ رَاغِبٍ
ya maliyyan yalja'u ilayhi kullu raghibin
O All-encompassing to Whom desirous ones resort!
مَا زِلْتُ مَصْحُوباً مِنْكَ بِٱلنِّعَمِ
ma ziltu mashuban minka bilnni`ami
I have been always endued with bounties from You
جَارِياً عَلَىٰ عَادَاتِ ٱلإِحْسَانِ وَٱلْكَرَمِ
jariyan `ala `adati al-ihsani walkarami
and accustomed to receive conferrals and generosity from You.
أَسْأَلُكَ بِٱلْقُدْرَةِ ٱلنَّافِذَةِ فِي جَمِيعِ ٱلأَشْيَاءِ
as'aluka bilqudrati alnnafidhati fi jami`i al-ashya'i
I beseech You in the name of the omnipotence to which all things are applicable,
وَقَضَائِكَ ٱلْمُبْرَمِ ٱلَّذِي تَحْجُبُهُ بِأَيْسَرِ ٱلدُّعَاءِ
wa qada'ika almubrami alladhi tahjubuhu bi-aysari alddu`a'i
in the name of Your unstoppable decree that You may stop by the simplest entreaty,
وَبِٱلنَّظْرَةِ ٱلَّتِي نَظَرْتَ بِهَا إِلَىٰ ٱلْجِبَالِ فَتَشَامَخَتْ
wa bilnnazrati allati nazarta biha ila aljibali fatashamakhat
and in the name of the look with which You looked at the mountains and they thus towered,
وَإِلَىٰ ٱلأَرَضِينَ فَتَسَطَّحَتْ
wa ila al-aradina fatasattahat
at the layers of the earth and they thus flattened,
وَإِلَىٰ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ فَٱرْتَفَعْت
wa ila alssamawati fartafa`at
at the heavens and they thus rose,
وَإِلَىٰ ٱلْبِحَارِ فَتَفَجَّرَتْ
wa ila albihari fatafajjarat
and at the seas and they thus gushed;
يَا مَنْ جَلَّ عَنْ أَدَوَاتِ لَحَظَاتِ ٱلْبَشَرِ
ya man jalla `an adawati lahazati albashari
O He Who is too Majestic to have the human beings’ organs of sight
وَلَطُفَ عَنْ دَقَائِقِ خَطَرَاتِ ٱلْفِكَرِ
wa latufa `an daqa'iqi khatarati alfikari
and Who is too Subtle to be comprehended by the finest line of thinking.
لاََ تُحْمَدُ يَا سَيِّدِي إِلاَّ بِتَوْفيقٍ مِنْكَ يَقْتَضِي حَمْداً
la tuhmadu ya sayyidi illa bitawfiqin minka yaqtadi hamdan
Whenever You, O my master, are praised, this is due to a bestowal of success that You grant and that requires (us) to praise You for it.
وَلاَ تُشْكَرُ عَلَىٰ أَصْغَرِ مِنَّةٍ إِلاَّ ٱسْتَوْجَبْتَ بِهَا شُكْراً
wa la tushkaru `ala asghari minnatin illa istawjabta biha shukran
Whenever You are thanked for the least of Your favors, this requires (us) to thank You for this thanking of ours for You.
فَمَتَىٰ تُحْصَىٰ نَعْمَاؤُكَ يَا إِلٰهِي
famata tuhsa na`ma'uka ya ilahi
Then, at what time can Your bounties be calculated, O my God,
وَتُجَازَىٰ آلاَؤُكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ
wa tujaza ala'uka ya mawlaya
or can Your errands be recompensed, O my Lord,
وَتُكَافَأُ صَنَائِعُكَ يَا سَيِّدِي
wa tukafa'u sana'i`uka ya sayyidi
or can Your favors be paid off, O my Master?
وَمِنْ نِعَمِكَ يَحْمَدُ ٱلْحَامِدُونَ
wa min ni`amika yahmadu alhamiduna
It is one of Your bounties that praisers praise You
وَمِنْ شُكْرِكَ يَشْكُرُ ٱلشَّاكِرُونَ
wa min shukrika yashkuru alshshakiruna
and it is one of Your thankworthy acts that thanksgivers thank You.
وَأَنْتَ ٱلْمُعْتَمَدُ لِلذُّنُوبِ فِي عَفْوِكَ
wa anta almu`tamadu lildhdhunubi fi `afwika
You are also the trusted for pardoning sins,
وَٱلنَّاشِرُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْخَاطِئِينَ جَنَاحَ سِتْرِكَ
walnnashiru `ala alkhati'ina janaha sitrika
the One Who stretches the wing of Your covering on the wrongdoers,
وَأَنْتَ ٱلْكَاشِفُ لِلضُّرِّ بِيَدِكَ
wa anta alkashifu lilddurri biyadika
and the One Who relieves from harm with Your Hand.
فَكَمْ مِنْ سَيِّئَةٍ أَخْفَاهَا حِلْمُكَ حَتَّىٰ دَخِلَتْ
fakam min sayyi'atin akhfaha hilmuka hatta dakhilat
Too many have been the sins that Your forbearance concealed until they became hidden
وَحَسَنَةٍ ضَاعَفَهَا فَضْلُكَ حَتَّىٰ عَظُمَتْ عَلَيْهَا مُجَازَاتُكَ
wa hasanatin da`afaha fadluka hatta `azumat `alayha mujazatuka
and too many are the good deeds that Your favoring multiplied until Your reward for them became massive.
جَلَلْتَ أَنْ يُخَافَ مِنْكَ إِلاَّ ٱلْعَدْلُ
jalalta an yukhafa minka illa al`adlu
You are too Majestic for us to anticipate anything from You save justice
وَأَنْ يُرْجَىٰ مِنْكَ إِلاَّ ٱلإِحْسَانُ وَٱلْفَضْلُ
wa an yurja minka illa al-ihsanu walfadlu
and to desire for anything from You save good turn and favoring.
فَٱمْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا أَوْجَبَهُ فَضْلُكَ
famnun `alayya bima awjabahu fadluka
So, (please) endue me with the favors that are incumbent upon You on the basis of Your graciousness
وَلاَ تَخْذُلْنِي بِمَا يَحْكُمُ بِهِ عَدْلُكَ
wa la takhdhulni bima yahkumu bihi `adluka
and do not disappoint me of that which is required by Your justice.
سَيِّدِي لَوْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلأَرْضُ بِذُنُوبِي لَسَاخَتْ بِي
sayyidi law `alimat al-ardu bidhunubi lasakhat bi
My Master, if the earth knew about my sins, it would swallow me;
أَوِ ٱلْجِبَالُ لَهَدَّتْنِي
aw aljibalu lahaddatni
if mountains knew about them, they would collapse on me;
أَوِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتُ َلٱخْتَطَفَتْنِي
aw alssamawatu lakhtatafatni
if heavens knew about them, they would snatch me;
أَوِ ٱلْبِحَارُ َلأَغْرَقَتْنِي
aw albiharu la'aghraqatni
and if oceans knew about them, they would down me!
سَيِّدِي سَيِّدِي سَيِّدِي
sayyidi sayyidi sayyidi
My Master! My Master! My Master!
مَوْلاَيَ مَوْلاَيَ مَوْلاَيَ
mawlaya mawlaya mawlaya
My Lord! My Lord! My Lord!
قَدْ تَكَرَّرَ وُقُوفِي لِضِيَافَتِكَ
qad takarrara wuqufi lidiyafatika
Frequent has been my standing up in Your hospitability;
فَلاَ تَحْرِمْنِي مَا وَعَدْتَ ٱلْمُتَعَرِّضِينَ لِمَسْأَلَتِكَ
fala tahrimni ma wa`adta almuta`arridina limas'alatika
so, (please) do not deprive me of that which You have promised those who present themselves for praying You.
يَا مَعْرُوفَ ٱلْعَارِفيِنَ
ya ma`rufa al`arifina
O Well-known by the cognitive ones!
يَا مَعْبُودَ ٱلْعَابِدينَ
ya ma`buda al`abidina
O Served by the worshippers!
يَا مَشْكُورَ ٱلشَّاكِرينَ
ya mashkura alshshakirina
O Thanked by the thanksgivers!
يَا جَلِيسَ ٱلذَّاكِرِينَ
ya jalisa aldhdhakirina
O Present in the sessions of the mindful ones!
يَا مَحْمُودَ مَنْ حَمِدَهُ
ya mahmuda man hamidahu
O Praised by the praisers of Him!
يَا مَوْجُودَ مَنْ طَلَبَهُ
ya mawjuda man talabahu
O Nearby to those who seek for Him!
يَا مَوْصُوفَ مَنْ وَحَّدَهُ
ya mawsufa man wahhadahu
O Described by those who profess His Oneness!
يَا مَحْبُوبَ مَنْ أَحَبَّهُ
ya mahbuba man ahabbahu
O Dearest of those who love Him!
يَا غَوْثَ مَنْ أَرَادَهُ
ya ghawtha man aradahu
O Aide of those who require Him!
يَا مَقْصُودَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَيْهِ
ya maqsuda man anaba ilayhi
O Purpose of those who turn to Him frequently!
يَا مَنْ لاََ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْغَيْبَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
ya man la ya`lamu alghayba illa huwa
O He save Whom none knows the hidden!
يَا مَنْ لاََ يَصْرِفُ ٱلسُّوءَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
ya man la yasrifu alssu'a illa huwa
O He save Whom none fends off evil!
يَا مَنْ لاََ يُدَبِّرُ ٱلأَمْرَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
ya man la yudabbiru al-amra illa huwa
O He save Whom none manages the affairs!
يَا مَنْ لاََ يَغْفِرُ ٱلذَّنْبَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
ya man la yaghfiru aldhdhanba illa huwa
O He save Whom none forgives sins!
يَا مَنْ لاََ يَخْلُقُ ٱلْخَلْقَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
ya man la yakhluqu alkhalqa illa huwa
O He save Whom none creates the created beings!
يَا مَنْ لاََ يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْغَيْثَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
ya man la yunazzilu alghaytha illa huwa
O He save Whom none brings down rain!
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
Pour down blessings upon Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household
وَٱغْفِرْ لِي يَا خَيْرَ ٱلْغَافِرِينَ
waghfir li ya khayra alghafirina
and forgive me, O best of all forgivers.
رَبِّ إِنِّي أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ حَيَاءٍ
rabbi inni astaghfiruka istighfara haya'in
O my Lord, I do implore for Your forgiveness timidly.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ رَجَاءٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara raja'in
I implore for Your forgiveness hopefully.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ إِنَابَةٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara inabatin
I implore for Your forgiveness turning to You frequently.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ رَغْبَةٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara raghbatin
I implore for Your forgiveness desiring for You.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ رَهْبَةٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara rahbatin
I implore for Your forgiveness, fearing You.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ طَاعَةٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara ta`atin
I implore for Your forgiveness obediently.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ إِيـمَانٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara imanin
I implore for Your forgiveness having faith in You.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ إِقْرَارٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara iqrarin
I implore for Your forgiveness professing of You.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ إِخْلاَصٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara ikhlasin
I implore for Your forgiveness sincerely.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ تَقْوىٰ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara taqwa
I implore for Your forgiveness piously.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ تَوَكُّلٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara tawakkulin
I implore for Your forgiveness, having full trust in You.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ ذِلَّةٍ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara dhillatin
I implore for Your forgiveness, showing submission to You.
وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱسْتِغْفَارَ عَامِلٍ لَكَ
wa astaghfiruka istighfara `amilin laka
I implore for Your forgiveness, dedicating all my acts to You
هَارِبٍ مِنْكَ إِلَيْكَ
haribin minka ilayka
and fleeing from You towards You.
فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
So, (please) pour down blessings upon Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household
وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ
wa tub `alayya wa `ala walidayya
and accept my and my parents’ repentance
بِمَا تُبْتَ وَتَتُوبُ عَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِكَ
bima tubta wa tatubu `ala jami`i khalqika
through the means by which You did and will accept the repentance of all Your creatures.
يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
ya arhama alrrahimina
O most merciful of all those who show mercy!
يَا مَنْ يُسَمَّىٰ بِٱلْغَفُورِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ya man yusamma bilghafuri alrrahimi
O He Who is called the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.
يَا مَنْ يُسَمَّىٰ بِٱلْغَفُورِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ya man yusamma bilghafuri alrrahimi
O He Who is called the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.
يَا مَنْ يُسَمَّىٰ بِٱلْغَفُورِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ya man yusamma bilghafuri alrrahimi
O He Who is called the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
Pour down blessings upon Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household,
وَٱقْبَلْ تَوْبَتِي
waqbal tawbati
accept my repentance,
وَزَكِّ عَمَلِي
wa zakki `amali
purify my deed,
وَٱشُكرْ سَعْيِي
washkur sa`yi
appreciate my efforts,
وَٱرْحَمْ ضَرَاعَتِي
warham dara`ati
have mercy upon my imploration,
وَلاَ تَحْجُبْ صَوْتِي
wa la tahjub sawti
do not interdict my voice,
وَلاَ تُخَيِّبْ مَسْأَلَتِي
wa la tukhayyib mas'alati
and do not frustrate my prayers.
يَا غَوْثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ
ya ghawtha almustaghithina
O Aide of those who seek aid!
وَأَبْلِغْ أَئِمَّتِي سَلاَمِي وَدُعَائِي
wa abligh a'immati salami wa du`a'i
And (please) convey my salutations and my prayers to my Leaders,
وَشَفِّعْهُمْ فِي جَمِيعِ مَا سَأَلْتُكَ
wa shaffi`hum fi jami`i ma sa'altuka
accept their intercession for me with You in all of that which I have asked You for,
وَأَوْصِلْ هَدِيَّتِي إِلَيْهِمِ كَمَا يَنْبَغي لَهُمْ
wa awsil hadiyyati ilayhim kama yanbaghi lahum
deliver my present to them in a way befitting their status,
وَزِدْهُمْ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ مَا يَنْبَغِي لَكَ
wa zid-hum min dhalika ma yanbaghi laka
and multiply that for them in a way befitting You
بِأَضْعَافٍ لاََ يُحْصِيهَا غَيْرُكَ
bi'ad`afin la yuhsiha ghayruka
with such folds that cannot be counted by anyone other than You.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَلِيِّ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`azimi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah the All-High and All-great.
وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ أَطْيَبِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
wa salla allahu `ala atyabi almursalina
May Allah bless the purest of the Messengers
مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ
muhammadin wa alihi alttahirina
Muhammad and his Immaculate Household.
Second form ziarat dt
(2) SECOND ZIYARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.)
Say as you leave home for ziyarat :
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِلَيْكَ اَخْرُجُ وَ اِلَيْكَ اَتَوَجَّهُ
allaahumma elayka akhrojo wa elayka atawajjaho
O Allah! I leave towards You, and to You I turn my face,
وَ بِكَ آمَنْتُ وَ عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَ بِكَ اسْتَعَنْتُ
wa beka aamanto wa a’layka tawakkalto wa bekas ta-a’nto
and I believe in You, and upon You I put my trust,and from You I pray for aid,
وَ اِلٰى مَشَاهِدِ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ وَ اَصْفِيَآئِكَ قَصَدْتُ
wa elaa mashaa-hede awleyaaa-eka wa as-feyaaa-eka qasad-to
and towards the shrines of Your vicegerents and Your choosen ones I have moved,
وَ اِلَيْكَ رَغِبْتُ
wa elayka raghibto
and towards You I desire earnestly,
فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدِۨ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ
fa-salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadenit taahereena
then send blessings upon Muhammad and the pure progeny of Muhammad,
وَ بَلِّغْنِيْ اَمَلِيْ وَ رَجَآئِيْ فِيْ زِيَارَتِيْ اِيَّاهُمْ
wa balligh-nee amalee wa rajaaa-ee feezeyaaratee iyyaahum
and help me attain my hope, and make me attain my desire in my visitation to them,
وَ قَصْدِيْ اِلَيْهِمْ فِيْ خَيْرٍ وَ عَافِيَةٍ وَ سِتْرٍ
wa qasdee elayhim fee khayrin wa a’afeyatin wa sitrin
and my intention to them in goodness and welfare, and protection,
وَ سَلَامَةٍ وَ اَمْنٍ وَ كِفَايَةٍ وَ رُدَّنِيْ مَقْبُوْلًا
wa salaamatin wa amnin wa kefaayatin wa ruddanee maqboolan
and safety, and security, and adequacy, and return me with accepted (ziyaarat),
مَبْرُوْرًا مَاْجُوْرًا مَوْفُوْرًا سَعِيْدًا غَانِمًا
mabrooran maajooran mawfooran sa-e’edan ghaaneman
approved, renumerated, abundant, happy, gaining,
وَ ارْزُقْنِي الْعَوْدَ
war zuqnil a’wda
and bestow upon me the favor of returning to visit.
اَللّٰهُمَّ مَا اَبْقَيْتَنِيْ فَلَا تَجْعَلْهُ اٰخِرَ الْعَهْدِ
allaahumma maa abqaytanee falaa taj-a’lho aakheral a’hde
O Allah! As long as You keep me alive then do not make this to be my last visit
لِزِيَارَةِ مَشَاهِدِهِمْ وَ مَعَارِجِهِمْ
le-zeyaarate mashaaa-hedehim wa ma-a’arejehim
to their tombs and their aspirations,
اِنَّكَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
innaka arhamur raahemeen.
surely You are Most Merciful.
It is recommended to take the ceremonial bath on reaching the city then in the way one should invoke Almighty Allah as much as possible saying :
سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ وَ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَ اللهُ اَكْبَرُ
subhaanal laahe wal hamdo lillaahe wa laa elaaha illal laaho wal laaho akbaro
All glory be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no god save Allah, Allah is the Greatest,
لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ الْعَلِیِّ الْعَظِیْمِ
laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaahil a’liyyil a’zeeme
there is neither might nor power save with Allah, the All-High the All-Great,
وَ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلٰي مُحَمَّدِۨ النَّبِيِّ وَ عَلٰی اٰلِہِ
wa sallal laaho a’laa mohammadenin nabiyye wa a’laa aalehit
and blessing of Allah be upon Muhammad, the Prophet,
الطَّیِّبِیْنَ الطَّاہِرِیْنَ وَ سَلَّمَ تَسْلِیْمًا
tayyebeenat taahereena wa sallama tasleemaa.
and his pure and immaculate progeny and send upon them benedictions.
On reaching near the holy shrine of Imam Reza (a.s.) recite the following ziyarat :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْعَلَمُ الْهَادِيْ
Peace be on you, O guiding epitome.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْوَصِيُّ الزَّكِيُّ
Peace be on you, O pure successor (of the Prophet).
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْاِمَامُ الْبَرُّ التَّقِيُّ
Peace be on you, O dutiful and pious leader.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْعَلَمُ الْمُطَهَّرُ مِنَ الذُّنُوْبِ
Peace be on you, O purified from sins.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وِعَآءَ حُكْمِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O containers of judgement of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَيْبَةَ سِرِّ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the store of secret of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْحَافِظُ لِوَحْيِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the protector of the revealation of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْمُسْتَوْفِيْ فِيْ طَاعَةِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the complete in the obedience of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْمُتَرْجِمُ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the interpretor of the Book of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الدَّاعِيْ اِلٰى تَوْحِيْدِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the caller to the Oneness of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْمُعَبِّرُ لِمُرَادِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the conveyer of the intention of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْمُحَلِّلُ لِحَلَالِ اللهِ
Peace be on you, O the analyser of the lawful of Allah
وَ الْمُحَرِّمُ لِحَرَامِ اللهِ وَ الدَّاعِيْ اِلٰى دِيْنِ اللهِ
and the prohibitor of the unlawful of Allah,and the caller towards the religion of Allah,
وَ الْمُعْلِنُ لِاَحْكَامِ اللهِ وَ الْفَاحِصُ عَنْ مَعْرِفَةِ اللهِ
leno le-ahkaamil laah wal faaheso a’n ma’refatil l
and the proclaimer of the laws of Allah, and the examiner of the recognition of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ اَشْهَدُ يَا مَوْلَايَ
mo a’layka yaa abal hasan ash-hado yaa mawl
Peace be on you O Abal Hasan! I testify, O my master!
اَنَّكَ حُجَّةُ اللهِ وَ اَمِيْنُهٗ وَ صَفْوَةُ اللهِ وَ حَبِيْبُهٗ
hujjatul laahe wa ameenohu wa safwatul laahe wa h
That surely You are the vicegerent of Allah and His trustee, and choicest of Allah,
وَ خِيَرَةُ اللهِ مِنْ خَلْقِهٖ وَ حُجَّتُهٗ عَلٰى عِبَادِهٖ
heyaratul laahe min khalqehi wa hujjatohu a’laa e’baa
and His beloved, and elite of Allah from His creation,and His argument upon His servants.
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّهٗ مَنْ وَالَاكَ فَقَدْ وَالَى اللهَ
o annahu man waalaaka faqad waalal
I testify that surely whoever declares loyalty to you has in fact declared loyalty to Allah,
وَ مَنْ عَادَاكَ فَقَدْ عَادَى اللهَ
a’adaaka faqad a’adal
and whoever shows enmity towards you has in fact shown enmity towards Allah,
وَ مَنِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِكَ وَ بِالْاَئِمَّةِ مِنْ آبَائِكَ وَ وُلْدِكَ
anis tamsaka beka wa bil-aimmate min aaabaa-eka wa wul
and whoever adhered to you and to the imams from your forefathers, and your son
فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقٰى
dis tamsaka bil-u’rwatil wu
then surely he has grasped to the firmest hand,
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكُمْ كَلِمَةُ التَّقْوٰى وَ اَعْلَامُ الْهُدٰى
sh-hado annakum kalematut taqwaa wa a-a’laamul h
and epitomes of guidance,
وَ نُوْرٌ لِسَائِرِ الْوَرٰی
oorun le-saa-eril wa
and light for all the creatures.
Then after kissing the holy grave recite :
بِاَبِيْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّيْ اَيُّهَا الصِّدِّيْقُ الشَّهِيْدُ
be-abee anta wa ummee ayyohas siddeeqush shaheedo
I swear by my father and mother O truthful martyr,
بِاَبِيْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّيْ يَا ابْنَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
be-abee anta wa ummee yabna ameeril moameneena
I swear by my father and mother O son of the Commander of the Faithful,
وَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ وَ اِمَامِ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ
wa sayyedul wasiyyeena wa emaamil muslemeena
the chief of the successors, the leader of the Muslims,
وَ حُجَّةِ اللهِ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ
wa hujjatil laahe a’lal khalqe ajmae’ena.
and the proof of Allah upon all the creatures.
Then perform two unit of salaat near the grave and while bidding farewell recite the following :
يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ يَا مَوْلَايَ اَيُّهَا الرِّضَا
yaa mawlaaya yaa abal hasane yaa mawlaaya ayyohar rezaa
O my master! O Abul Hasan! O my master! O devoted one,
اَتَيْتُكَ زَآئِرًا وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ خَيْرُ مَزُوْرٍ بَعْدَ آبَآئِكَ
ataytoka zaaa-eran wa ash-hado annaka khayro mazoorin ba’da aabaaa-eka
I have come to visit you, and I testify that surely visiting you is good after your forefathers,
وَ اَفْضَلُ مَقْصُوْدٍ
wa afzalo maqsoodin
and the most excellent besought one,
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مَنْ زَارَكَ فَقَدْ وَصَلَ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ
wa ash-hado anna man zaaraka faqad wasala rasoolal laahe
and I testify that one who visits you has indeed respected the Messenger of Allah,
وَ اَبْهَجَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةَ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
wa abhaja faatemata sayyedata nesaaa-il a’alameena
and rejoiced Faatemah, the leader of the women of the worlds,
وَ نَالَ مِنَ اللهِ الْفَوْزَ الْعَظِيْمَ
wa naala menal laahil fawzal a’zeema
and achieved the great victory from Allah,
فَلَا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ اٰخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكَ
falaa ja-a’lahul laaho aakheral a’hde min zeyaarateka
then may Allah not make this my last visit to you,
وَ اِتْيَانِ مَشْهَدِكَ وَ رَزَقَنِيَ الْعَوْدَ ثُمَّ الْعَوْدَ اِلَيْكَ
wa ityaane mash-hadeka wa razaqaneyal a’wda summal a’wda elayka
and coming to your shrine, and grant me more and more chances to re-visit you,
آمِيْنَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
aameena rabbal a’alameena.
respond, O Lord of the worlds!
(2) SECOND ZIYARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.)
Say as you leave home for ziyarat :
It is recommended to take the ceremonial bath on reaching the city then in the way one should invoke Almighty Allah as much as possible saying :

assalaamo a’layka ayyohal a’lamul haadee.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal wasiyyuz zakiyy.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal emaamul barrut taqiyy.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal a’lamul motahharo menaz zonoob.
assalaamo a’alayka yaa we-a’aa-a hukmil laah.
assalaamo a’layka yaa a’ybata sirril laah.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal haafezo le-wahyil laah.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal mustawfee fee taa-a’til laah.
assalaamo a’layka ayyoahal motarjemo le-ketaabil laah.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohad daa-e’e elaa tawheedil laah.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal mo-a’bbero le-moraadil laah.
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal mohallelo le-halaalil laah
wal moharremo le-haraamil laah wad daa-e’e elaa deenil laah
Then after kissing the holy grave recite :
Then perform two unit of salaat near the grave and while bidding farewell recite the following :
Third Form of Ziyarat
In his book of al-Muqni`ah, Shaykh al-Mufid, reporting this form of ziyarah, has said: After performing the ritual bathing of ziyarah and putting on the purest of your clothes, you may stop at the tomb of Imam al-Rida (`a) and say the following words: Jpg Third Ziyarah In his book of al-Muqni`ah, Shaykh al-Mufid, reporting this form of ziyarah, has said: After performing the ritual bathing of ziyarah and putting on the purest of your clothes, you may stop at the tomb of Imam al-Rida (`a) and say the following words: Jpg After taking ceremnial bath for ziyaarat, recite the following ziyaarat near the holy grave while standing :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ وَلِيِّهٖ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waliyyal laahe wabna waliyyehi,
Peace be on you, O Allah’s authority and son of His authority.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُـجَّةَ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ حُـجَّتِهٖ وَ اَبَا حُـجَجِهٖ
assalaamo a’layka yaa hujjatal laahe wabna hujjatehi wa abaa hojajehi,
Peace be on you, O Allah’s argument and father of His argument.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اِمَامَ الْهُدٰى وَ الْعُرْوَةَ الْوُثْقٰى
assalaamo a’layka yaa emaamal hodaa wal u’rwatal wusqaa
Peace be on you, O leader of guidance and firmest handle.
وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
Allah’s mercy and blessings be on you.
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ مَضَيْتَ عَلٰى مَا مَضٰى عَلَيْهِ آبَاؤُكَ الطَّاهِرُوْنَ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ
ash-hado annaka mazayta a’laa maa mazaa a’layhe aaabaa-okat taaheroona a’layhemus salaamo,
I bear witness that you passed away carrying the same principles on which your immaculate fathers had passed away.Allah’s blessings be on them.
لَمْ تُؤْثِرْ عَمًى عَلٰى هُدًى وَ لَمْ تَمِلْ مِنْ حَقٍّ اِلٰى بَاطِلٍ
lam toa-sir a’man a’lal hodaa, wa lam tamil min haqqin elaa baatelin,
You never preferred blindness to guidance, and never slanted from right to wrong.
وَ اَنَّكَ قَدْ نَصَحْتَ لِلهِ وَ لِرَسُولِهٖ وَ اَدَّيْتَ الْاَمَانَةَ
wa annaka qad nasah-ta lillaahe wa le-rasoolehi, wa addaytal amaanata,
And you acted for the sake of Allah and His Messenger sincerely and fulfilled the trust.
فَـجَزَاكَ اللهُ عَنِ الْاِسْلَامِ وَ اَهْلِهٖ خَيْرَ الْـجَزَآءِ
fa-jazaakal laaho a’nil islaame wa ahlehi khayral jazaaa.
May Allah reward you on behalf of Islam and its embracers with the most favorable reward.
اَتَيْتُكَ بِاَبِيْ وَ اُمِّيْ زَآئِرًا عَارِفًا بِـحَقِّكَ
ataytoka be-abee wa ummee zaaa-eran a’arefan be-haqqeka
I have come to you – I swear by my father and mother – visiting you, recognizing your right,
مُوَالِيًا لِاَوْلِيَآئِكَ، مُعَادِيًا لِاَعْدَآئِكَ
, mowaaleyan le-awleyaaa-eka, mo-a’adeyan le-a’adaaa-eka,
declaring loyalty to your loyalists, and showing enmity towards your enemies.
فَاشْفَعْ لِيْ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ جَلَّ وَ عَزَّ
fash-fa’ lee i’nda rabbeka jalla wa a’zza.
So, intercede for me with your Lord, Majestic and Mighty.
Then kiss the grave while touching it, put your cheek on it. Then say at the head :اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
assalaamo a’layka yaa mawlaaya yabna rasoolil laahe wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh,
Peace be on you, O my master, O son of Allah’s Messenger. Allah’s mercy and blessings be on you.
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ الْاِمَامُ الْهَادِيْ وَ الْمُوَالِي الرَّاشِدُ وَ الْوَلِيُّ الْمُجَاهِدُ
ash-hado annakal emaamul haadee, wal mowaalir raashedo,wal waliyyul mojaahedo
I bear witness that verily you are the guiding leader and the directing saint.
وَ اَبْرَاُ اِلَى اللهِ تَعَالٰى مِنْ اَعْدَآئِكَ
wa abra-o elal laae ta-a’alaa min a-a’daaa-eka,
I repudiate your enemies in the presence of Allah
وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَى اللهِ بِمُوَالَاتِكَ
wa ataqarrabo elal laahe be-mowaalaateka
and seek nearness to Allah through declaring loyalty to you.
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْكَ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
sallal laaho a’layka wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
May Allah bless you. Allah’s mercy and blessings be on you.
Then perform two unit of salaat and after that perform as many salaat and then revert to the position of holy feet and invoke whatever is your need. When you want to bid farewell, return and stand near the holy grave and recite the following :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa mawlaaya yaa abal hasan,
Peace be on you O Abal Hasan,
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yabna rasoolil laahe
Peace be on you O the son of Prophet of Allah,
وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh,
Allah’s mercy and blessings be on you.
اَسْتَوْدِعُكَ اللهَ وَ اَقْرَاُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ
astawde-o’kal laaha wa aqra-o a’laykas salaam,
I entrust you to Allah and I salute you,
اٰمَنَّا بِاللهِ وَ بِمَا جِئْتَ بِهٖ وَ دَلَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ
aamannaa bil-laahe wa bemaa jea-ta behi wa dalalta a’layhe,
I believe in Allah and in that which they (the prophets) brought from Him, in that unto which they guided.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِيْنَ
allaahummak tubnaa ma-a’sh shaahedeen.
O Allah! Include me among the testifiers.
In his book of al-Muqni`ah, Shaykh al-Mufid, reporting this form of ziyarah, has said: After performing the ritual bathing of ziyarah and putting on the purest of your clothes, you may stop at the tomb of Imam al-Rida (`a) and say the following words: Jpg Third Ziyarah In his book of al-Muqni`ah, Shaykh al-Mufid, reporting this form of ziyarah, has said: After performing the ritual bathing of ziyarah and putting on the purest of your clothes, you may stop at the tomb of Imam al-Rida (`a) and say the following words: Jpg After taking ceremnial bath for ziyaarat, recite the following ziyaarat near the holy grave while standing :
Then kiss the grave while touching it, put your cheek on it. Then say at the head :
Then perform two unit of salaat and after that perform as many salaat and then revert to the position of holy feet and invoke whatever is your need. When you want to bid farewell, return and stand near the holy grave and recite the following :
Fourth Ziarat - Jawadiah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِىِّ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ اَوْلِيَآئِهِ
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَفِيْرَ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ سُفَرَآئِهِ assalaamo a’layka yaa waliyyal laahe wabna awleyaaa-eh assalaamo a’layka yaa safeeral laahe wabna sofaraaa-eh
Peace be on the friend of Allah and the son of His friends Peace be on you, O ambassador of Allah and the son of His ambassadors
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُـجَّةَ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ حُـجَجِهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُوْرَ اللهِ فِىْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْاَرْضِ وَ ابْنَ اَنْوَارِهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waliyyal laahe wabna awleyaaa-eh assalaamo a’layka yaa safeeral laahe wabna sofaraaa-eh
Peace be on you O proof of Allah and son of His proofs Peace be on you, O light of Allah in the dark earth and the son of His lights
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَمُوْدَ الدِّيْنِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ الْاَنْبِیَآءِ وَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa a’moodad deen assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresal anbeyaaa-e wal mursaleen
Peace be on you, O pillar of religion Peace be on you, O heir of the Prophets and the Messengers
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ آدَمَ صَفْوَةِ اللهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ نُوحٍ نَجِيِّ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa aadama safwatil laah assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa noohin najiyyil laah
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Adam, the one chosen by Allah Peace be on you, O inheritor of Nuh, the confidant of Allah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اِبْرَاهِيْمَ خَلِيْلِ اللهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اِسْمَاعِيْلَ ذَبِيْحِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ibraaheema khaleelil laah
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ibrahim, the friend of Allah Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ismaaeel, the one to be sacrificed for Allah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوْسٰى كَلِيْمِ اللهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عِيْسٰى رُوْحِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa moosaa kaleemil laah assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa e’esaa roohil laah
Peace be on you O inheritor of Moosa, the one who conversed with Allah Peace be on you, O inheritor of Eesaa, the spirit of Allah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدٍ (حَبِيْبِ اللهِ وَ) رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
ssalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa mohammadin (habeebil laahe wa) rasoolil laah
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Muhammad, (the beloved of Allah and) the Prophet of Allah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ اَبِيْ طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَلِيِّ اللهِ وَ وَصِيِّ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ameeril moameneena a’liyibne abee taalebin a’layhis salaamo waliyyil laahe wa wasiyye rasoolil laah
Peace be on you, O inheritor of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali Ibn Abi Taalib, peace of Allah be on him, the friend of Allah, and the successor to the Prophet of Allah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَآءِ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ بِنْتِ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa faatemataz zahraaa-e sayyedate nesaaa-il a’alameena binte rasoolil laah
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Fatima al-Zahra, leader of the women of the Universe, daughter of the Prophet of Allah
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ سَيِّدَيْ شَبَابِ اَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ (وَ سِبْطَيْ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ)
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresal hasane wal husaine sayyeday shabaabe ahlil jannate (wa sibtay rasoolil laah)
Peace be on you, O inheritor of al-Hasan and al-Husain, the two leaders of all the youths in Paradise (and two grandsons of the Prophet of Allah)
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ سَيِّدِ السَّاجِدِيْنَ وَ زَيْنِ الْعَابِدِيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa a’liyy ibnil husaine sayyedas saajedeena wa zaynil a’abedeen
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ali ibn al-Husain, the leader of the prostrating ones and the adornment of the worshippers
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ بَاقِرِ عِلْمِ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْآخِرِيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa mohammad ibne a’liyyin baaqere i’lmil awwaleena wal aakhereen
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Muhammad ibn Ali, the one who splits knowledge of the first and last ones
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّادِقِ الْبَارِّ التَّقِيِّ الْاَمِيْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ja’far ibne mohammadenis saadeqil baarrit taqiyyil ameen
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ja’far ibn Muhammad, the truthful, the virtuous one and trustworthy one
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوْسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْعَالِمِ الْكَاظِمِ الْحَفِيِّ الْحَلِيْمِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa moosabne ja’farenil a’alemil kaazemil hafiyyil haleem
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Moosa ibn Ja’far the knowledgeable, the suppressor of rage, the kind, the one of forbearance
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الصِّدِّيْقُ الشَّهِيْدُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohas siddeeqush shaheed
Peace be on you, O truthful martyr
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْوَصِيُّ الرَّضِيُّ الْبَرُّ التَّقِيُّ الْوَفِيُّ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal wasiyyur raziyyul barrut taqiyyul wafiyyo
Peace be on you, O successor who Allah is pleased with, pious, virtuous one
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ اَقَمْتَ الصَّلَاةَ وَ آتَيْتَ الزَّكَاةَ وَ اَمَرْتَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَ عَبَدْتَ اللهَ مُخْلِصًا حَتّٰى اَتَاكَ الْيَقِيْنُ
ash-hado annaka qad aqamtas salaata wa aataytaz zakaata wa amarta bil-ma’roofe wa nahayta a’nil munkare wa a’badtal laaha mukhlesan hattaa ataakal yaqeen
I bear witness that you undertook the prayer and gave the zakat, enjoined the good and prohibited evil and worshipped Allah in all sincerity until death came to you
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اِمَامَ قَصِيْبٍ وَ اِمَامَ نَجِيْبٍ وَ اِمَامَ بَعِيْدٍ قَرِيْبٍ وَ اِمَامَ مَسْمُوْمٍ غَرِيْبٍ
assalamo a’layka yaa emaama qaseebin wa emaama najeebin wa emaama ba-e’edeen qareebin wa emaama masmoomin ghareeb
Peace be on you, O the great Imam, and the eminent Imam, one who is near, distant, one who was poisoned and stranger
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْعَالِمُ النَّبِيْهُ وَ الْقَدْرُ الْوَجِيْهُ النَّازِحُ عَنْ تُرْبَةِ جَدِّهِ وَ اَبِيْهِ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal a’alemun nabeeho wal qadrul wajeehun naazeho a’n turbate jaddehi wa abeeh
Peace be on you, O the exalted scholar having notable powers, one who is distant from the land of his grandfather and father
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ اَمَرَ اَوْلَادَهُ وَ عِيَالَهُ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ قَبْلَ وُصُوْلِ الْقَتْلِ اِلَيْهِ
assalaamo a’laa man amara awlaadahu wa e’yaalahu bin-neyaahate a’layhe qabla wosoolil qatle elayhe
Peace be on the one who commanded his children and family to cry for him before he was killed
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى دِيَارِكُمُ الْمُوْحِشَاتِ كَمَا اسْتَوْحَشَتْ مِنْكُمْ مِنٰى وَ عَرَفَاتٌ
assalaamo a’laa deyaarekomul mooheshaate kamas tawha-shat minkum menaa wa a’rafaat
Peace be on your lonely homes, just as Mina and ‘Arafat have been separated from you
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى سَادَاتِ الْعَبِيْدِ وَ عُدَّةِ الْوَعِيْدِ وَ الْبِئْرِ الْمُعَطَّلَةِ وَ الْقَصْرِ الْمَشِيْدِ
assalaamo a’laa saadaadil a’beede wa u’ddatil wa-e’ede wal bearil mo-a’ttalate wal qasril masheed
Peace be on the leader of slaves and the helper for the promised, on wells that are not used and on fortified palaces
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى غَوْثِ اللَّهْفَانِ وَ مَنْ صَارَتْ بِهِ اَرْضُ خُرَاسَانَ
assalaamo a’laa ghawsil lahfaane wa man saarat behi arzo khoraasaan
Peace be on the sorrowful helper and the ones who travelled with him to Khorasan
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى قَلِيْلِ الزَّآئِرِيْنَ وَ قُرَّةِ عَيْنِ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
assalaamo a’laa qaleeliz zaaa-ereena wa qurrate a’yne faatemata sayyedate nesaaa-il a’alameen
Peace be on the one who has few visitors, and the delight of the eyes of Fatima, leader of the women of the Universe
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الْبَهْجَةِ الرَّضَوِيَّةِ وَ الْاَخْلَاقِ الرَّضِيَّةِ وَ الْغُصُوْنِ الْمُتَفَرِّعَةِ مِنَ الشَّجَرَةِ الْاَحْمَدِيَّةِ
assalaamo a’lal bahjatir razawiyyate wal akhlaaqir raziyyate wal ghosoonil motafarre-a’te menash shajaratil ahmadiyyah
Peace be on the peaceful, splendid branches from the tree of Ahmad
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنِ انْتَهٰى اِلَيْهِ رِئَاسَةُ الْمُلْكِ الْاَعْظَمِ وَ عِلْمُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لِتَمَامِ الْاَمْرِ الْمُحْكَمِ
assalaamo a’laa manin tahaa elayhe re-aasatul mulkil a-a’zame wa i’lmo kulle shay-in le-tamaamil amril mohkam
Peace be on the one to whom the leadership of the mighty kingdom reached, with the knowledge of everything to its ultimate, predestined end
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ اَسْمَآؤُهُمْ وَسِيْلَةُ السَّائِلِيْنَ وَ هَيَاكِلُهُمْ اَمَانُ الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ وَ حُـجَجُهُمْ اِبْطَالُ شُبَهِ الْمُلْحِدِيْنَ
assalaamo a’laa man asmaaa-ohum waseelatus saa-eleena wa hayaakelohum amaanul makhlooqeena wa hojajohum ibtaalo sho-bahil mulhedeen
Peace be on those whose names are a medium for those who seek, their houses are a security for the creatures, their proofs nullify the uncertainty of those who deviate
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ كُسِرَتْ لَهُ وِسَادَةُ وَالِدِهِ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ حَتّٰى خَصَمَ اَهْلَ الْكُتُبِ وَ ثَبَّتَ قَوَاعِدَ الدِّيْنِ
assalaamo a’laa man koserat lahu wesaadato waaledehi ameeril moameneena hattaa khasama ahlal kotobe wa sabbata qawaa-e’dad deen
Peace be on the one for whom the cushion of his father, the Commander of the Faithful, was laid out so that he could dispute with the people of the book and strengthen the pillars of religion
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى عَلَمِ الْاَعْلَامِ وَ مَنْ كُسِرَتْ قُلُوْبُ شِيْعَتِهِ بِغُرْبَتِهِ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
assalaamo a’laa a’lamil a-a’laame wa man koserat qoloobo shee-a’tehi be-ghurbatehi elaa yawmil qeyaamah
Peace be on the distinguished one amongst the eminent ones, for whom the hearts of his Shi’as are broken due to his loneliness until the day of Judgment
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى السِّرَاجِ الْوَهَّاجِ وَ الْبَحْرِ الْعَجَّاجِ الَّذِيْ صَارَتْ تُرْبَتُهُ مَهْبَطَ الْاَمْلَاكِ وَ الْمِعْرَاجِ
assalaamo a’las seraajil wahhaaje wal bahril a’jjaajil lazee saarat turbatohu mahbatal amlaake wal me’raaj
Peace be on the light of lights and the deep sea His dust has descended on different kingdoms and heavens
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى اُمَرَآءِ الْاِسْلَامِ وَ مُلُوْكِ الْاِيْمَانِ
assalaamo a’laa omaraaa-il islaame wa molookil eemaan
Peace be on the leaders of Islam and the rulers of faith
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى بَاهِرِيْ النُّوْرِ وَ طَاهِرِي الْوِلَادَةِ وَ مَنْ اَطْلَعَهُمُ اللهُ عَلٰى عُلُوْمِ الْغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ وَ جَعَلَهُمْ بِاِفْضَالِهِ مَنْبَعِ الْهُدٰی وَ مَعْدِنَ السَّعَادَةِ
assalaamo a’laa baaherin noore wa taaheril welaadate wa man atla-a’homul laaho a’laa o’loomil ghaybe wash shahaadate wa ja-a’lahum be-ifzaalehi manba-i’l hodaa wa ma’denis sa-a’adah
Peace be on brilliant light, and the ones born in purity, and for whom Allah has made knowledge of the unseen available, and made them source of guidance and treasure of prosperity by His bestowal
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنِ ابْتَهَجَتْ بِهِ مَعَالِمُ طُوْسٍ حَيْثُ حَلَّ بِرَبْعِهَا
assalaamo a’laa manib tahajat behi ma-a’alemo toosin hayso halla be-rab-e’haa
Peace be on the one through whom the knowledge of Tus became adorned from the time you became its resting place
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مُفْتَخَرِ الْاَبْرَارِ وَ نَائِيْ الْمَزَارِ وَ شَرْطِ دُخُوْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَ النَّارِ
assalaamo a’laaa muftakharil abraare wa naa-il mazaare wa sharte dokhoolil jannate wan naar
Peace be on the pride of the pious one, and the place where people visit, and the condition for entering heaven and hell
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ لَمْ يَقْطَعِ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ صَلٰواتِهِ فِيْ آنَاءِ السَّاعَاتِ وَ بِهِمْ سَكَنَتِ السَّوَاكِنُ وَ تَحَرَّكَتِ الْمُتَحَرِّكَاتِ
assalaamo a’laa man lam yaqta-i’l laaho a’nhum salaatehi fee aaa-naa-is saa-a’ate wa behim sakanatis sawaakeno wa taharrakatil motaharrekaat
Peace be on the one for whom Allah has not cut off His blessings day and night, and through whom the people live and move
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ جَعَلَ اِمَامَتَهُمْ مُـمَيِّزَةً بَيْنَ الْفَرِيْقَيْنِ كَمَا تَعَبَّدَ بِوَلَايَتِهِمْ اَهْلُ الْـخَافِقَيْنِ
assalaamo a’laa man ja-a’la emaamatahum momayyezatan baynal fareeqayne kamaa ta-a’bbada be-welaayatehim ahlul khaafe-qeen
Peace be on those whose Imamate Allah has made a distinguishing mark between two groups, the people of the east and the west become more devout by following them
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ اَحْيَ اللهُ بِهِمْ دَارِسَ حِكَمِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَ ابْتَعَثَهُمْ بِوَلَايَتِهِمْ لِتَمَامِ كَلِمَةِ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
ssalaamo a’laa man ahyal laaho behim daaresa hekamin nabiyyeena wab ta-a’sahum be-walaayatehim le-tamaame kalematil laahe rabbil a’alameen
Peace be on the one through whom Allah has enlivened the wisdom of the Prophets and, by sending him, people become more devout so as to perfect the word of Allah, Lord of the Worlds
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى شُهُوْرِ الْحَوْلِ وَ عَدَدِ السَّاعَاتِ وَ عَدَدِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ فِيْ رُقُوْمِ (الرُّقُوْمِ) الْمُسَطَّرَاتِ
assalaamo a’laa shohooril hawle wa a’dadis saa-a’ate wa a’dade laa elaaha illal laaho fee roqoome (ar-roqoome) al-mosattaraat
Peace be on the months of the year and number of hours and the number of Laa elaaha illal laah in the written document
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى اِقْبَالِ الدُّنْيَا وَ سُعُوْدِهَا وَ مَنْ سُئِلُوْا عَنْ كَلِمَةِ التَّوْحِيْدِ فَقَالُوْا نَحْنُ وَ اللهِ مِنْ شُرُوْطِهَا
assalaamo a’laa iqbaalid dunyaa wa so-o’odehaa wa man so-eloo a’n kalematit tawheede faqaaloo nahno wal laahe min shorootehaa
Peace be on the one [through whom] the world and it’s prosperity are to be approached and the one who, when asked about the words of unity, said: “By Allah, we are its conditions”
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ يُعَلَّلُ وُجُوْدُ كُلِّ مَخْلُوْقٍ بِوِلَائِهِمْ وَ مَنْ خَطَبَتْ لَهُمُ الْخُطَبَآءُ
assalaamo a’laa man yo-a’llalo wojoodo kulle makhlooqin be-welaa-ehim wa man khatabat lahomul khota-baaa
Peace be on the one whose friendship is the reason for the existence of every creature, the preachers address
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنْ عَلَا مَجْدُهُمْ وَ ثَنَآؤُهُمْ وَ فَاقَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْآخِرِيْنَ اٰبَآؤُهُمْ وَ اَبْنَآئُهُمْ
assalaamo a’laa man a’laa majdohum wa sanaaa-ohum wa faaqal awwaleena wal aakhereena aabaaa-ohum wa abnaaa-ohum
Peace be on the pride and glory of the pious one, and their fathers and sons are superior to the first and the last
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى مَنِ افْتَخَرَ الْفَخْرُ بِفَخْرِهِمْ وَ عَلَا بِهِمْ بِوُجُوْبِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ طَهَارَةِ ثِيَابِهِمْ
assalaamo a’laa manif takharal fakhro be-fakhrehim wa a’laa behim be-wojoobis salaate a’layhim wa tahaarate theyaabehim
Peace be on those whose praises and adulations have been elevated, whose pride and elevated status have been known by the fact that sending blessings on them is obligatory (in the prayer), and by their purity and nobility
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى قَمَرِ الْاَقْمَارِ وَ فَخْرِ الْاَبْرَارِ الْمُتَكَلِّمِ مَعَ كُلِّ لُغَةٍ بِلِسَانِهِمُ الْقَائِلِ لِشِيْعَتِهِ مَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيُوَلِّيَ اِمَامًا عَلٰى اُمَّةٍ حَتّٰى يُعَرِّفُهُ بِلُغَاتِهِمْ وَ اَدْيَانِهِمْ
assalaamo a’laa qamaril aqmaare wa fakhril abraaril motakalleme ma-a’ kulle loghatin be-lesaanehemul qaa-ele le-shee-a’tehi maa kaanal laaho le-yowaalleya emaaman a’laa ummatin hattaa yo-a’rrefohu be-loghaatehim wa adyaanehim
Peace be on the moon of all moons, the pride of the righteous, the one who speaks to different people in their own languages, the one who said to his followers: “Allah would not impose an Imam on a community until He teaches him their language and ways”
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى فُرْحَةِ الْقُلُوْبِ وَ فَرَجِ الْمَكْرُوْبِ وَ شَرِيْفِ الْاَشْرَافِ وَ مَفْخَرِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ
assalaamo a’laa furhatil qoloobe wa farajil koroobe wa shareefil ashraafe wa mafkhare a’bde manaafin
Peace be on the happiness of the heart, one who removes sorrow and the noble of all noble ones and the pride of ‘Abd al-Manaf
يَا لَيْتَنِيْ كُنْتُ مِنَ الطَّآئِفِيْنَ بِعَرْصَةِ حَضْرَتِهِ مُسْتَشْهِدًا لِبَهْجَةِ مُؤَانَسَتِهِ
yaa laytanee kunto menat taaa-efeena be-a’rsate hazratehi mustashedan le-bahjate mo-aanasateh
If only I was around his court and in his presence, I would give my life due to the joy of his friendship
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الْاِمَامِ الرَّؤُوْفِ الَّذِيْ هَيَّجَ اَحْزَانَ يَوْمِ الطُّفُوْفِ بِاللهِ
assalaamo a’lal emaamir ra-ooofil lazee hayyaja ahzaana yawmit tofoofe billaahe
Peace be on the kind Imam who inspires sadness on the day of Aashooraa
اُقْسِمُ وَ بِآبَائِكَ الْاَطْهَارِ وَ بِاَبْنَآئِكَ الْمُنْتَجَبِيْنَ الْاَبْرَارِ لَوْ لَا بُعْدُ الشُّقَّةِ حَيْثُ شَطَّتْ بِكُمُ الدَّارُ لَقَضَيْتُ بَعْضَ وَاجِبِ حَقِّكُمْ بِتَكْرَارِ الْمَزَارِ
uqsemo we be-aaa-baa-ekal athaare wa be-abnaaa-ekal muntajabeenal abraare law laa bo’dush shuqqate hayso shattat bekomud daaro laqazayto ba’za waajebe haqqekum be-takraaril mazaar
I swear by Allah and by your pure fathers and the chosen ones amongst your pious children, had it not been for the excessive distance from home, I would have fulfilled some obligations by continuously visiting you
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا حُمَاةَ الدِّيْنِ وَ اَوْلَادَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَ سَادَةَ الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ
assalaamo a’laykum yaa homaatad deene wa awlaadan nabiyyeena wa saadatal makhlooqeena wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh
Peace be on you, O the protectors of religion, the children of the Prophets and the leaders of creation, may the mercy and blessings of Allah be on you
Allama Majlisi (r.a.) reports that he found a ziyarah in some old treatises (which is from the earliest Ulema and written in 746 A.H.) which is reproduced as it is; This ziyarah has been narrated by Imam Jawad (peace be upon him), son of Imam Ridha (peace be upon him):
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَفِيْرَ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ سُفَرَآئِهِ
Fifth Ziarat
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَىٰ
allahumma salli `ala `aliyyi bni musa
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon `Ali the son of Musa,
ٱلرِّضَا ٱلْمُرْتَضَىٰ
alrrida almurtada
the cordial, the well-pleased,
ٱلإِمَامِ ٱلتَّقِيِّ ٱلنَّقِيِّ
al-imami alttaqiyyi alnnaqiyyi
the Imam, the pious, the bright,
وَحُجَّتِكَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ فَوْقَ ٱلأَرْضِ وَمَنْ تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ
wa hujjatika `ala man fawqa al-ardi wa man tahta alththara
Your argument against whoever is above the earth and whoever is beneath the dust,
ٱلصِّدِّيقِ ٱلشَّهِيدِ
alssidiqi alshshahidi
and the ever-truthful and martyr
صَلاَةً كَثِيرَةً تَامَّةً زَاكِيَةً
salatan kathiratan tammatan zakiyatan
with such blessings that are very much, perfect, purified,
مُتَوَاصِلَةً مُتَوَاتِرَةً مُتَرَادِفَةً
mutawasilatan mutawatiratan mutaradifatan
continuous, uninterrupted, and consecutive,
كَأَفْضَلِ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ أَحَدٍ مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكَ
ka'afdali ma sallayta `ala ahadin min awliya'ika
and with the best form of blessings that You have ever bestowed upon any of Your intimate servants.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَىٰ
allahumma salli `ala `aliyyi bni musa
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon `Ali the son of Musa
ٱلَّذِي ٱرْتَضَيْتَهُ وَرَضَّيْتَ بِهِ مَنْ شِئْتَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
alladhi irtadaytahu wa raddayta bihi man shi'ta min khalqika
whom You have accepted and through whom You have satisfied whomever of Your creatures that You wish.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَكَمَا جَعَلْتَهُ حُجَّةً عَلَىٰ خَلْقِكَ
allahumma wa kama ja`altahu hujjatan `ala khalqika
O Allah, as You have made him act as argument against Your creatures,
وَقَائِماً بِأَمْرِكَ
wa qa'iman bi'amrika
undertake the mission by Your command,
وَنَاصِراً لِدِينِكَ
wa nasiran lidinika
support Your religion,
وَشَاهِداً عَلَىٰ عِبَادِكَ
wa shahidan `ala `ibadika
witness against Your servants,
وَكَمَا نَصَحَ لَهُمْ فِي ٱلسِّرِ وَٱلْعَلاَنِيَةِ
wa kama nasaha lahum fi alssirri wal`alaniyati
and as he acted sincerely towards them in secret and in open
وَدَعَا إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِكَ
wa da`a ila sabilika
and called to Your way
بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ
bilhikmati walmaw`izati alhasanati
with wisdom and excellent exhortation,
فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ
fasalli `alayhi
so also (please) bless him
أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ أَحَدٍ
afdala ma sallayta `ala ahadin
with the most favorite blessings that You have ever bestowed
مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكَ وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
min awliya'ika wa khiyaratika min khalqika
upon any of Your intimate servants and Your choice ones over Your creatures.
إِنَّكَ جَوَادٌ كَرِيمٌ
innaka jawadun karimun
Verily, You are All-magnanimous, All-generous.
Ibn Qawlawayh reported one of the Holy Imams (peace be upon him) to have said: When you reach the tomb of Imam al-Rida (peace be upon him), you may say the following supplicatory words there:
Within the recommended rites on Fridays, Shaykh al-Tusi, in his book of Misbah al-Mutahajjid, has mentioned the following from Imam Hasan Askari (peace be upon him):

(6) SIXTH ZIYARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.)
The author of the book ‘Rauzah al-Azkaar’[22] reports: There is such a ziyaarat from the ziyaarats of Imam Reza (a.s.) which can be recited in the holy shrine at any day and at any time:
Sixth Ziyarah The author of the book ‘Rauzah al-Azkaar’ reports : There is such a ziyaarat from the ziyaarats of Imam Reza (a.s.) which can be recited in the holy shrine at any day and at any time : Take ceremonial bath when you intend to perform ziyaarat and take care of all the dicorums as mentioned earlier. When the dome is sighted say :ا
َلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا اَهْلَ بَيْتِ النُّبُوَّةِ
assalaamo a’laykum yaa ahla baytin nobuwwate
Peace be on you, O Household of Prophethood,
وَ مَعْدِنَ الرِّسَالَةِ وَ خُزَّانَ الْعِلْمِ وَ مُنْتَهَي الْحِلْمِ
wa ma’denar resaalate wa khuzzaanal i’lme wa muntahal hilme
the treasures of the Divine mission, treasurers of knowledge, ultimate degree of forbearance,
وَ اُصُوْلَ الْكَرَمِ وَ قَآئِدَ الْاُمَمِ وَ سُلْطَانَ الْعِبَادِ
wa osoolal karame wa qaaa-edal omame wa sultaanal e’baade
origins of generosity, leaders of nations, rulers of the servants,
وَ دَعَآئِمَ الْاَخْيَارِ وَ عَنَاصِرَ الْاَبْرَارِ
wa da-a’aa-emal akhyaare wa a’naaseral abraare
pillars of the upright, foundations of the dutiful,
وَ مَنَاصَّةَ الْعِبَادِ وَ اَرْكَانَ الْبِلَادِ وَ اَبْوَابَ الْاِيْمَانِ
wa manaassatal e’baade wa arkaanal belaade wa abwaabal eemaane
scaffold for the servants, props of the lands, doors of true faith,
وَ اُمَنَآءَ الرَّحْمٰنِ وَ سُلَالَۃَ النَّبِیِّیْنَ
wa omanaaa-ar rahmaane wa solaalatan nabiyyeena
trustees of the All-Beneficent, descendants of the Prophets,
وَ صَفْوَۃَ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَ وَ عِتْرَۃَ خِیَرَۃِ رَسُوْلِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ
wa safwatal mursaleena wa i’trata kheyarate rasoole rabbil a’alameena
choice of the Messengers, and offspring of the select Messenger of the Lord of the Worlds.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
assalaamo a’laykum wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
Peace be on you and may the blessings and mercy of Allah be on you.
When you enter the holy shrine recite the permission for entry :
يَا مَوْلَايَ وَ ابْنَ مَوْلَايَ اَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَ ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ
yaa mawlaaya wabna mawlaaya anaa a’bdoka wabno a’bdekaz
O my master and son of my master! I am a slave and a son of your slaves,
الذَّلِيْلُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ الْمُعْتَرِفُ بِحَقِّكَ
zaleelo bayna yadaykal mo’tarefo be-haqqeka
debased in front of you, acknowledging your rights.
جَآئَكَ مُسْتَجِيْرًا بِذِمَّتِكَ
jaaa-aka mustajeeran be-zimmateka
I have come to you seeking protection through your custody.
قَاصِدًا لِحَرَمِكَ مُتَوَجِّهًا لِمَقَامِكَ
qaasedan le-harameka motawajjehan le-maqaameka
I have come to your sanctuary due to your status,
مُتَوَسِّلًا اِلَي اللهِ بِكَ
motawasselan elal laahe beka
asking you to intercede with Allah.
ءَاَدْخُلُ يَا اللهُ ءَاَدْخُلُ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ
a-adkholo yaa allaaho a-adkholo yaa rasoolal laah
May I enter, O Allah ? May I enter, O Prophet of Allah ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
a-adkholo yaa ameeral moameneena
May I enter, O Commander of the Faithful?
ءَاَدْخُلُ يَا فَاطِمَةُ الزَّهْرَآءُ
a-adkholo yaa faatematuz zahraaa
May I enter, O Faatemah al-Zahra ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ يَا حَسَنُ الْمُجْتَبٰی
a-adkholo yaa hasanul mujtabaa
May I enter, O Hasan, the chosen one ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ یَا حُسَیْنُ الشَّہِیْدُ
a-adkholo yaa husainush shaheedo
May I enter, O Husain, the martyr ?
ءَ اَدْخُلُ یَا زَیْنَ الْعَابِدِیْنَ
a-adkholo yaa zainal a’abedeen
May I enter, O Zain al-Aabedeen ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ یَا مُحَمَّدُ ۨ الْبَاقِرُ
a-adkholo yaa mohammadonil baaqer
May I enter, O Muhammad, the splitter of knowledge ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ یَا جَعْفَرُ ۨ الصَّادِقُ
a-adkholo yaa ja’faronis saadeq
May I enter, O Ja’far, the truthful ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ یَا مُوْسَی الْكَاظِمُ
a-adkholo yaa moosal kaazemo
May I enter, O Moosa, the suppressor of rage ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ یَا حُجَّۃَ اللہِ
a-adkholo yaa hujjatal laah
May I enter, O proof of Allah ?
ءَاَدْخُلُ اَیَّتُہَا الْمَلَآئِكَۃُ الْمُحْدِقُوْنَ فِیْ ہٰذَا الْمَشْہَدِ
a-adkholo ayyatohal malaaa-ekatul mohdeqoona fee haazal mash-had
May I enter, O angels surrounding this place in this holy sanctuary ?
عَلَیْكَ سَلَامُ اللہِ یَا مَوْلَایَ وَ ابْنَ مَوْلَایَ
a’layka salaamul laahe yaa mawlaaya wabna mawlaaya
Upon you is the salutation of Allah, O my master and son of my master
وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
and blessings and mercy of Allah be on you.
While entering in put your right foot first and recite :
بِسْمِ اللهِ وَ بِاللهِ عَلٰى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ
bismil laahe wa billaahe a’laa millate rasoolil laahe
In the name of Allah, and by Allah, on the path of Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهٖ
sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehi
peace of Allah be upon him and his progeny,
اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ
ash-hado an laa elaaha illal laaho wahdahu laa shareeka lahu
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. He is alone, there is no partner to Him.
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهٗ وَ رَسُولُهٗ
wa ash-hado anna mohammadan a’bdohu wa rasoolohu
And I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Prophet,
وَ اَنَّ عَلِیًّا وَلِیُّ اللہِ
wa anna a’liyyan waliyyul laah.
and that Ali is the friend of Allah.
Then make intention for reciting the ziyaarat while standing in front of the holy grave of Imam (a.s.) and say : I perform the ziyaarat of Imam Reza (a.s.) on my behalf, on behalf of my parents, forefathers, relatives and all the faithful believing men and women :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ وَلِيِّهٖ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waliyyal laahe wabna waliyyehi
Peace be on you, O friend of Allah and the son of friend of Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُـجَّةَ اللهِ وَ ابْنَ حُـجَّتِهٖ
assalaamo a’layka yaa hujjatal laahe wabna hujjatehi
Peace be on you, O the proof of Allah and the son of the proof of Allah !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُوْرَ اللهِ فِيْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْاَرْضِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa nooral laahe fee zolomaatil arze
Peace be on you, O light of Allah in the darkness of the earth!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عِمَادَ الدِّيْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa e’maadad deene
Peace be on you, O pillar of religion!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اٰدَمَ صَفِیِّ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa aadama safiyyil laahe
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Adam, the one chosen by Allah !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ نُوْحٍ نَجِیِّ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa noohin najiyyil laah.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Nuh, the confidant of Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اِبْرَاہِیْمَ خَلِیْلِ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ibraaheema khaleelil laah.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ibrahim, the friend of Allah !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اِسْمَاعِیْلَ ذَبِیْحِ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ismaae’ela zabeehil laah
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ismaeel, the one to be sacrificed for Allah !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوْسٰی كَلِیْمِ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa moosaa kaleemil laah.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Moosa, the one who spoke to Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عِیْسٰی رُوْحِ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa e’esaa roohil laah.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Eesaa, the spirit of Allah !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدٍ حَبِیْبِ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa mohammadin habeebil laahe.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Muhammad, the beloved of Allah !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَلِیِّ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ameeril moameneena waliyyil laahe.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of the Commander of the Faithful !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ سَیِّدَۃِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِیْنَ >فَاطِمَۃَ الزَّہْرَآءِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa sayyedate nesaaa-il a’alameena faatemataz zahraaa-e.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of the mistress of the women of the worldsFaatemah al-Zahra !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَیْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresal hasane wal husaine.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of al-Hasan and al-Husain !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ زَیْنِ الْعَابِدِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa a’liyy ibnil husaine zaynil a’abedeen.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ali Ibn al-Husain, the ornament of the worshipers !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ بَاقِرِ عِلْمِ الْاَ وَّلِيْنَ وَ الاٰخِرِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa mohammad ibne a’liyyin baaqere i’lmil awwaleena wal aakhereen.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Muhammad Ibn Ali, the splitter of knowledge of the first and last ones !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ ۨ الصَّادِقِ الْبَآرِّ الْاَمِیْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa ja’far ibne mohammadenis saadeqil baarriL ameen.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ja’far Ibn Muhammad, the truthful one, the virtuous one and the trustworthy one !
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوْسَی بْنِ جَعْفَرِ ۨ الْكَاظِمِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresa moosabne ja’farenil kaazeme.
Peace be on you, O inheritor of Moosa Ibn Ja’far the suppressor of rage!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَیُّہَا الصِّدِّیْقُ الشَّہِیْدُ الْغَرِیْبُ الْمَسْمُوْمُ الْمَقْتُوْلُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohas siddeeqush shaheedul ghareebul masmoomul maqtoolo.
Peace be on you, O truthful martyr, the stranger, the one who has been given poison, the martyr !
اُشْہِدُ بِاللہِ اَنَّكَ اَقَمْتَ الصَّلَاۃَ وَ اٰتَیْتَ الزَّكَاۃَ
ash-hado annaka qad aqamtas salaata wa aataytaz zakaata
I bear witness that you undertook the prayers, gave the zakat,
وَ اَمَرْتَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَ نَہَیْتَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ
wa amarta bil-ma’roofe wa nahayta a’nil munkare
enjoined what is good, prohibited evil
وَ عَبَدْتَ اللہَ مُخْلِصًاحَتّٰی اَتَاكَ الْیَقِیْنُ
wa a’badtal laaha mukhlesan hattaa ataakal yaqeeno.
and worshipped Allah in all sincerity until death overtook you.
قَتَلَ اللہُ مَنْ قَتَلَكَ بِالْاَیْدِیْ وَ الْاَلْسُنِ
qatalal laaho man qatalaka bil-aydee wal alson.
May Allah kill who killed you with deeds and words.
عَلَيْكَ سَلَامُ اللهِ يَا مَوْلَايَ
a’layka salaamul laahe yaa mawlaaya
Peace of Allah be upon you O my master
وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
and the blessings of Allah and His mercy be on you.
Then kiss the holy grave, keep the right cheek on the grave and say :
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِلَیْکَ صَمَدْتُ مِنْ اَرْضِیْ وَ قَطَعْتُ الْبِلَادَ رَجَآءَ رَحْمَتِکَ
allaahumma elayka samadto min arzee wa qataa’-tul belaada rajaaa-a rahmateka
O Allah! I have turned to You, I have traveled from far hoping for Your mercy.
فَلَا تُخَیِّبْنِیْ وَ لَا تَرُدَّنِیْ بِغَیْرِ قَضَآءِ حَوَآئِجِيْ
falaa tokhayyibnee wa laa taruddanee beghayre qazaaa-e hawaaa-ejee
So do not disappoint me and do not let me return without fulfilling my needs.
وَارْحَمْ تَقَلُّبِیْ عَلٰی قَبْرِ بْنِ اَخِیْ رَسُوْلِکَ
war ham taqallobee a’laa qabr ibne akhee rasooleka
Have mercy on me as I cling to the grave of the son of the brother of Your Prophet,
صَلَوَاتُکَ عَلَیْہِ وَ اٰلِہٖ
salawaatoka a’layhe wa aalehi.
Your blessings be upon him and his progeny.
بِاَبِیْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّیْ اَتَیْتُکَ زَائِرًا وَافِدًا عَآئِذًا مِمَّا جَنَیْتُ عَلٰی نَفْسِیْ وَاحْتَطَبْتُ عَلٰی ظَہْرِیْ
be-abee anta wa ummee ataytoka zaa-eran waafedan a’a-ezan mimmaa janayto a’laa nafsee wah-tatabto a’laa zahree
May my parents be sacrificed for you. I have come to visit you presenting what I have done against myself and have burdened my back,
فَکُنْ لِیْ شَافِعًا اِلَی اللهِ تَعَالٰی یَوْمَ فَقْرِیْ وَ فَاقَتِیْ
fakun lee shaafi-a’n elal laahe ta-a’alaa yawma faqree wa faaqatee
so intercede for me in front of Allah, the High, on the day of poverty and need,
فَاِنَّ لَکَ عِنْدَ اللهِ مَقَامًا مَحْمُوْدًا
fa-inna laka i’ndal laahe maqaaman mahmoodan
then surely for you have an eminent status in front of Allah,
وَ جَاهًا وَجِيْهًا فِيْ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْاٰخِرَةِ
wa jaahan wajeehan fid dunyaa wal aakherate
and standing in your view in this world and the hereafter,
وَ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِہٖ اَجْمَعِیْنَ
wa sallal laaho a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi ajma-e’ena.
and blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his whole family.
Then keep your left cheek on the holy grave and say :
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَيْكَ بِحُبِّہِمْ
allaahumma innee ataqarrabo elayka behubbehim
O Allah! I seek nearness to You through their love
وَ اَتَوَسَّلُ اِلَيْكَ بِوِلَایَتِہِمْ
wa atawassalo elayka bewelaayatehim
and I beg You in the name of their leadership.
وَ اَتَوَلّٰی اٰخِرَہُمْ بِمَا تَوَلَّیْتُ بِہٖ اَوَّلَہُمْ
wa atawallaa aakherahum bemaa tawallayto behi awwalahum
I follow the last of them just as I followed the first of them
وَ اَبْرَءُ مِنْ کُلِّ وَلِیْجَۃٍ دُوْنَہُمْ
wa abra-o min kulle waleejatin doonahum.
and I dissociate myself from every pretender to them and anyone who challenges them.
اَللّٰہُمَّ الْعَنِ الَّذِیْنَ بَدَّلُوْا نِعْمَتَکَ
allaahummal a’nil lazeena baddaloo nea’-mataka
O Allah! Curse those who altered Your blessings
وَاتَّہَمُوْا نَبِیَّکَ وَ جَحَدُوْا بِاٰیَاتِکَ
wat tahamoo nabiyyaka wa jahadoo be-aayaateka
and distressed Your Prophet, denied Your signs
وَ سَخِرُوْا بِاِمَامِکَ وَ حَمَلُوْا النَّاسَ عَلٰی اَکْتَافِ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa sakheroo be-emaameka wa hamalun naasa a’laa aktaafe aale mohammadin.
and urged people to oppress the family of Muhammad.
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَیْکَ بِاللَّعْنَۃِ عَلَیْہِمْ
allaahumma innee ataqarrabo elayka bil la’-nate a’layhim
O Allah! I seek closeness to You by cursing them
وَالْبَرَآئَۃِ مِنْہُمْ فِی الدُّنْیَا وَالْاٰخِرَۃِ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
wal baraaa-ate minhum fid dunyaa wal aakherah yaa arhamar raahemeen.
and by dissociating myself from them in this world and the next, O Most Merciful of all.
Then come on the position of feet and say :
صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْکَ یَابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
sallal laaho a’layka yabna rasoolil laah
May Allah shower you with His blessings,O son of Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْکَ یَا اَبَا الْحَسَنِ
sallal laaho a’layka yaa abal hasane
may Allah shower you with His blessings, O Abul Hasan,
صَلَّی اللهُ عَلٰی رُوْحِکَ الطَّيِّبِ وَ بَدَنِکَ الزَّ كِيِّ
sallal laaaho a’laa roohekat tayyebe wa badanekaz zakiyye
may Allah bless your pure soul and chaste body.
صَبَرْتَ وَ احْتَسَبْتَ وَ اَنْتَ الصَّادِقُ الْمُصَدِّقُ
sabarta wah tasabta wa antas saadequl mosaddeqo
You had patience and support and you are the most truthful and trustworthy.
قَتَلَ اللهُ مَنْ قَتَلَکَ وَ لَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ ظَلَمَكَ بِالْاَیْدِیْ وَالْاَلْسُنِ
qatalal laaho man qatalalaka la-a’nal laaho man zalamaka bil aydee wal alsone.
May Allah fight those who fight, and may Allah curse those who wronged with their hands and tongues.
عَلَيْكَ سَلَامُ اللهِ يَا مَوْلَايَ وَ ابْنَ مَوْلَايَ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
a’layka salaamul laahe yaa mawlaaya wabna mawlaaya wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
Upon you peace of Allah, O my master and the son of my master and mercy of Allah and His blessings.
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ الْاِمَامُ الْهُدٰی وَ الْوَلِیُّ الْمُرْشِدُ
ash-hado annakal emaamul hodaa wal waliyyul murshedo
I bear witness that you are the Imam who guides, the guardian who shows the path,
اَبْرَاُ اِلَی اللہِ مِنْ اَعْدَآئِكَ وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَی اللہِ بِمُوَالَاتِكَ
abra-o elal laahe min a-a’daaa-eka wa ataqarrabo elal laahe be-mowaalaateka
I turn to Allah by dissociating from your enemies and I seek closeness to Allah by befriending you.
صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْكَ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
sallal laaho a’layka wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
May Allah send His blessings on you,and the mercy and blessings of Allah be on you.
Then go behind the head side and facing Karbala recite this ziyaarat :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa abaa a’bdil laahe
Peace be on you, O Abu Abdillah
وَ عَلَى الْاَرْوَاحِ الَّتِىْ حَلَّتْ بِفِنَآئِكَ وَ اَنَاخَتْ بِرَحْلِكَ
wa a’lal arwaahil latee hallat befenaa-eka wa anaakhat be-rahleka
and upon the souls that gathered in your courtyard and stayed with you.
عَلَيْكَ مِنّىْ سَلَامُ اللهِ اَبَدًا مَا بَقِيْتُ وَ بَقِيَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ
a’layka minne salaamul laahe abadam maa baqeeto wa baqeyal laylo wan nahaaro
Peace of Allah be upon you from me forever as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.
وَ لَا جَعَلَهُ اللهُ اٰخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمْ
wa laa ja-a’lahul laaho aakheral a’hde min zeyaaratekum
May Allah not cause this (visit) to be the last visit to you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلٰى عَلِىِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ
assalaamo a’lal hasane wal husaine wa a’laa a’liyy ibnil husain
Peace be on al-Hasan and al-Husain, and on Ali Ibn al-Husain,
وَ عَلٰى اَوْلادِ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلٰى اَصْحَابِ الْحُسَيْنِ
e wa a’laa awlaadil husaine wa a’laa ashaabil husaine
on the sons of al-Husain, and on the companions of al-Husain,
وَ لَعْنَةُ اللهِ عَلٰی قَاتِلِ الْحُسَیْنِ
wa la’natul laahe a’laa qaatelil husaine.
and curse of Allah be on the killers of Husain.
اَللّٰهُمَّ الْعَنْ اَوّلَ ظَالِمٍ ظَلَمَ حَقَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahummal a’n awwala zaalemin zalama haqqa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin
O Allah! Pour curses upon the foremost persecutor who usurped the right of Muhammad and Muhammad’s household
وَ اٰخِرَ تٰابِعٍ لَهٗ عَلٰى ذٰلِكَ
wa aakhera taabe-i’n lahu a’laa zaaleka
and the last follower who acceded to his deed.
اَللّٰهُمَّ الْعَنِ الْعِصَابَةَ الَّتِىْ جَاهَدَتِ الْحُسَيْنَ
allaahummal a’nil e’saabatal latee jaahadatil husaina
O Allah! Pour curses upon the gang that struggled against al-Husain
وَ شَايَعَتْ وَ بايَعَتْ وَ تَابَعَتْ عَلٰى قَتْلِهٖ
wa shaaya-a’t wa baa-ya-a’t wa taa-ba-a’t a’laa qatlehi.
and who supported each other against him, paid homage to his enemies, and participated in slaying him.
اَللّٰهُمَّ الْعَنْهُمْ جَمِيْعًا
allahummal a’nhum jamee-a’n.
O Allah! Pour curses upon all of them.
Then come to head side of the holy grave and say :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ وَ ابْنَ مَوْلَايَوَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ
assalaamo a’layka yaa mawlaaya wabna mawlaayawa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh
Peace be on you of my master and the son of my master and mercy of Allah and His blessings.
اَشْہَدُ اَنَّكَ تَشْہَدُ مَقَامِیْ وَ تَسْمَعُ كَلَامِیْ
ash-hado annaka tash-hado maqaamee wa tasma-o’ kalaamee
I testify that surely you see my place, and you can hear my words.
وَ اَنْتَ حَیٌّ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ مرْزُوْقٌ
wa anta hayyun i’nda rabbeka marzooqun
You are alive in front of your Lord, getting sustenance.
وَ نَسْاَلُ اللہَ رَبِّیْ وَ رَبَّكُمْ قَضَآءَ حَوَآئِجِیْ فِی الدُّنْیَا وَ الْآخِرَۃِ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ
wa nas-alul laaha rabbee wa rabbakum qazaaa-a hawaa-ejee fid dunyaa wal aakherate yaa arhamar raahemeen.
And we ask Allah, my Lord and your Lord, to fulfill my needs in this world and the hereafter, O Most Merciful of all.
Then move forward and say :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الشَّهِيْدُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohash shaheedo
Peace be on you O the martyr.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْاِمَامُ الْمَعْصُوْمُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohasl emaamul ma’soomo
Peace be on you O the infallible Imam.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْاِمَامُ الْمَظْلُوْمُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal emaamul mazloomo
Peace be on you O the oppressed Imam.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْاِمَامُ الْمَسْمُوْمُ الْمَغْمُوْمُ الْمَهْمُوْمُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal emaamul masmoomul maghmoomul mahmoomo
Peace be on you O the Imam who was poisoned, the distressed, the grief-stricken.
اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ الْاِمَامُ الْهَادِيْ وَ الْوَلِيُّ الْمُرْشَدُ
ash-hado annakal emaamul haadee wal waliyyul murshedo
I bear witness that you are the Imam who guides, the guardian who shows the path,
اَبْرَاُ اِلَي اللهِ مِنْ اَعْدَآئِكَ
abra-o elal laahe min a-a’adaaa-eka
I turn to Allah by dissociating from your enemies
وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَي اللهِ بِمُوَالَاتِكَ
wa ataqarrabo elal laahe be-mowaalaateka
and I seek closeness to Allah by befriending you.
صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰي اٰبَآئِكَ وَ اَوْلَادِكَ
sallal laaho a’layka wa a’laa aabaaa-eka wa awlaadeka
May Allah send His blessings on you and your forefathers and your children,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ
be-rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.
by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all!
Then go toward head and perform two unit of salaat of ziyaarat in which recite in the first raka’at Surah Hamd once and Surah Tawheed fifty times or less and in the second unit recite any Surah (after reciting Surah Hamd). Recite Tasbeeh after finishing the salaat and seek forgiveness of All Merciful Allah for yourself, your parents, friends and all the believing men and women. Then go into prostration and recite the supplication [‘اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ صَلَّیْتُ وَ رَكَعْتُ...’] which is recited after salaat of ziyaarat and ziyaarat-e-Qudoom-e-Imam Husain (a.s.).
(6) SIXTH ZIYARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.)
The author of the book ‘Rauzah al-Azkaar’[22] reports: There is such a ziyaarat from the ziyaarats of Imam Reza (a.s.) which can be recited in the holy shrine at any day and at any time:
Sixth Ziyarah The author of the book ‘Rauzah al-Azkaar’ reports : There is such a ziyaarat from the ziyaarats of Imam Reza (a.s.) which can be recited in the holy shrine at any day and at any time : Take ceremonial bath when you intend to perform ziyaarat and take care of all the dicorums as mentioned earlier. When the dome is sighted say :
When you enter the holy shrine recite the permission for entry :
While entering in put your right foot first and recite :
Then make intention for reciting the ziyaarat while standing in front of the holy grave of Imam (a.s.) and say : I perform the ziyaarat of Imam Reza (a.s.) on my behalf, on behalf of my parents, forefathers, relatives and all the faithful believing men and women :
Then kiss the holy grave, keep the right cheek on the grave and say :
Then keep your left cheek on the holy grave and say :
Then come on the position of feet and say :
Then go behind the head side and facing Karbala recite this ziyaarat :
Then come to head side of the holy grave and say :
Then move forward and say :

7) SEVENTH ZIYAARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.) – ZIYAARAT OF SEVEN TRADITION (زيارت هفت حديث)
This Ziarat beautifully narrates the narrations of otherMasoomeen on the merits of visting Imam Ridha (as)
One more ziyaarat of Imam Reza (a.s.) has been narrated from Supplement (ملحقات) of Misbah Kafaami (r.a.) : Taking into consideration all the etiquette of ziyaarat after performing ceremonial bath of ziyaarat, stand in front of the holy grave back facing Qibla. After doing intention of ziyarat recite :
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
bismil laahir rahmaanir raheem.
In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, most Kind.
اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہُ وَحْدَہٗ لَا شَرِیْكَ لَہٗ
ash-hado an laa elaahe illal laaho wahdahu laa shareeka lahu
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. He is alone, there is no partner to Him
وَ اَشْہَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُہٗ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ
wa ash-hado anna mohammadan a’bdohu wa rasoolohu
and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Prophet
وَ اَشْہَدُ اَنَّ عَلِیًّا وَلِیُّہٗ وَ وَصِیُّ رَسُوْلِہٖ
wa ash-hado anna a’liyyan waliyyohu wa wasiyyo rasoolehi.
and I bear witness that Ali is His intimate friend and vicegerent of His prophet.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammad.
O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مَلَآئِكَتِكَ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ
allaahumma salle a’laa malaaa-ekatekal moqarrabeen.
O Allah! Send blessings upon Your proximate angels.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَي الْاَنْبِيَآءِ وَالْمُرْسَلِيْنَ
allaahumma salle a’lal anbeyaaa-e wal mursaleen.
Peace be upon the Prophets and Messengers.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَي الْاَئِمَّةِ الْمَعْصُوْمِيْنَ
allaahumma salle a’lal a-immatil ma’soomeen.
Peace be upon the infallible Imams.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مَوْلَانَا وَ مُقْتَدَانَا اِمَامِ الْهُدٰی
allaahumma salle a’laa mawlaanaa wa muqtadaanaa emaamil hodaa
Peace be upon our master and our leaders, guiding Imam
وَالْعُرْوَۃِ الْوُثْقٰی وَ حُجَّتِكَ عَلٰی اَہْلِ الدُّنْیَا
wal u’rwatul wusqaa wa hujjateka a’laa ahlid dunyaa
and the strong rope of religion and Your proof for the people of the world,
اَلَّذِیْ قَالَ فِیْ حَقِّہٖ سَیِّدُ الْوَرٰی وَ سَنَدُ الْبَرَایَا
allazee qaala fee haqqehi sayyedul waraa wa sanadul baraayaa:
the one for whom leader of worlds and support of the creatures said about him :
سَتُدْفَنُ بَضْعَۃٌ مِنِّیْ بِاَرْضِ خُرَاسَانَ
“satudfano baz-a’tun minnee be-arze khoraasaana
“Soon, a part of my body will be buried in Khorasan;
مَا زَارَہَا مَكْرُوْبٌ اِلَّا نَفَّسَ اللہُ كَرْبَہٗ
maa zaarahaa makroobun illaa naffasal laaho karbahu
no sorrowful one would visit him, except that Allāh would remove his sorrow
وَ لَا مُذْنِبٌ اِلَّا غَفَرَ ذَنْبَہٗ
wa laa muznebun illaa ghafara zanbahu.”
and no sinful person would visit him except that Allāh would forgive their sins.”
اَللّٰہُمَّ بِشَفَاعَتِہِ الْمَقْبُوْلَۃِ وَ دَرَجَتِہِ الرَّفِیْعَۃِ
allaahumma be-shafaa-a’tehil maqboolate wa darajatehir rafee-a’te
O Allah! By his accepted intercession and lofty status,
اَنْ تُنَفِّسَ بِہٖ كَرْبِیْ وَ یَغْفِرَ بِہٖ ذَنْبِیْ
an tonaffesa behi karbee wa yaghfera behi zanbee
give respite to my difficulties, forgive my sins,
وَ تُسْمِعَہٗ كَلَامِیْ وَ تُبَلِّغَہٗ سَلَامِیْ
wa tusme-a’hu kalaamee wa toballeghahu salaamee.
make my talks reach him and make my greetings reach him.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa hujjatal laah.
Peace be on you, O proof of Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُوْرَ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa nooral laah.
Peace be on you, O light of Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَيْبَةَ عِلْمِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa a’ybata i’lmil laah.
Peace be on you, O trunk of the knowledge of Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَعْدِنَ حِكْمَةِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa ma’dena hikmatil laah.
Peace be on you, O source of the wisdom of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَامِلَ كِتَابِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa haamela ketaabil laah.
Peace be on you, O bearer of the book of Allah!
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَافِظَ سِرِّ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa haafeza sirril laahe
Peace be on you, O the protector of the secret of Allah!
اَنْتَ الَّذِيْ قَالَ فِيْكَ قَاتِلُ الْكَفَرَةِ
antal lazee qaala feeka qaatelul kafarate
You are the one for whom – killer of the infidels,
وَ قَامِعُ الْفَجَرَةِ عَلِيٌّ اَمِيْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
wa qaame-u’l fajarate a’liyyun ameerul moameneena
suppressor of the wicked ones, Ali, Commander of the Faithful,
وَ وَصِيُّ رَسُوْلِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ وَ سَلَامُهٗ عَلَیْہِ
wa wasiyyo rasoole rabbil a’alameena salawaatul laahe wa salaamohu a’layhe:
and vicegerent of the Messenger of the Lord of the worlds, blessings of Allah and his peace be upon him
سَیُقْتَلُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ وُلْدِیْ بِاَرْضِ خُرَاسَانَ بِالسَّمِّ ظُلْمًا
“sayuqtalo rajolun min wuldee be-arze khoraasaana bis-samme zulman
– has said: “Soon a man from among my progeny will be wrongfully murdered in the land of Khorasan;
اِسْمُہٗ اِسْمِیْ وَ اِسْمُ اَبِیْہِ اِسْمُ ابْنِ عِمْرَانَ مُوْسٰی عَلَیْہِ السَّلَامُ
ismohu ismee wa ismo abeehe ismo ibne i’mraana moosaa a’layhis salaamo
his name is [the same as] my name, his father’s name is [like] the name of Moosa ibn Imran’s name;
اَلَا فَمَنْ زَارَہٗ فِیْ غُرْبَتِہٖ
alaa faman zaarahu fee ghurbatehi
let it be known that whoever visits him in his desolation,
غَفَرَ اللہُ لَہٗ ذُنُوْبَہٗ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْہَا وَ مَا تَاَخَّرَ
ghafaral laaho lahu zonoobahu maa taqaddama minhaa wa maa ta-akhkhara
Allah will forgive his sins of the past and future,
وَ لَوْ كَانَتْ مِثْلَ عَدَدِ النُّجُوْمِ
wa law kaanat misla a’dadin nojoome
even though they may be as many as the number of the stars,
وَ قَطْرِ الْاَمْطَارِ وَ وَرَقِ الْاَشْجَارِ
wa qatril amtaare wa waraqil ashjaare.”
raindrops and leaves of the trees.”
مَوْلَايَ مَوْلَايَ هَا اَنَا ذَا وَاقِفٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ
mawlaaya mawlaaya haa anaa zaa waaqefun bayna yadayka
My master, my master, here I am standing in front of you,
وَ ذُنُوْبِيْ مِثْلُ عَدَدِ النُّجُوْمِ وَ قَطْرِالْاَمْطَارِ
wa zonoobee mislo a’dadin nojoome wa qatril amtaare
and my sins are like the number of stars, and raindrops,
( وَ وَرَقِ الْاَشْجَارِ وَ لَيْسَ بِيْ (لِيْ
wa waraqil ashjaare wa laysa bee (lee)
and leaves of trees, and in me (for me)
وَسِيْلَةٌ اِلٰی مَحْوِہَا اِلَّا رِضَاكَ
waseelatun elaa mahwehaa illaa rezaak.
there is no medium for erasing them except your pleasure.
مَوْلَايَ مَا اَحْسِبُ فِيْ صَحِيْفَتِيْ عَمَلًا اَرْجٰی عِنْدِيْ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكَ
mawlaaya maa ahsebo fee saheefatee a’malan arjaa i’ndee min zeyaarateka
My master, I have not computed a deed heavier near me than your visitation in my scroll (of deeds),
كَيْفَ وَ قَدْ قَالَ فِيْ حَقِّهَا بَاقِرُ عِلْمِ
kayfa wa qad qaala fee haqqehaa baaqerul i’lmil
why it will not be so when the splitter of knowledge
الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَالْاٰخِرِیْنَ صَلَوَاتُ اللہِ عَلَیْہِ
awwaleena wal aakhereena salawaatul laahe a’layhe:
of the first and the last, blessings of Allah be upon him has said:
یَخْرُجُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ وُلْدِیْ اِسْمُہٗ اِسْمُ اَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
“yakhrojo rajolun min wuldee ismohu ismo ameeril moameneena
“A man will emerge from my progeny, his name is [same as]the name of Commander of the Faithful.
فَیُدْفَنُ بِاَرْضِ خُرَاسَانَ
fa-yudfano be-arze khoraasaana
He will be buried in the land of Khorasan.
مَنْ زَارَہٗ عَارِفًا بِحَقِّہٖ
man zaarahu a’arefan be-haqqehi
One who visits him recognizing his right,
اَعْطَاہُ اللہُ اَجْرَ مَنْ اَنْفَقَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَ قَاتَلَ
a-a’taahul laaho ajra man anfaqa min qablil fathe wa qaatal.”
Allah will give him reward of those who spent before the victory and fought.”
فَاَتَیْتُكَ زَآئِرًا لَكَ عَارِفًا بِحَقِّكَ
fa-ataytoka zaaa-eran laka a’arefan be-haqqeka
I have come to visit you, recognizing your right,
عَالِمًا بِاَنَّكَ اِمَامٌ مُفْتَرَضُ الطَّاعَۃِ غَرِیْبٌ شَہِیْدٌ
a’aleman be-annaka emaamun muftarazut taa-a’te ghareebun shaheedun
knowing that you are Imam whose obedience is obligatory, lonely, martyr,
رَاجِیًا بِمَا قَالَہُ الصَّادِقُ عَلَیْہِ الصَّلَاۃُ وَ السَّلَامُ
raajeyan bemaa qaalahus saadeqo a’layhis salaato was salaamo:
hoping for what Imam Sadiq – blessings and peace be upon him – said
یُقْتَلُ حَفَدَتِیْ بِاَرْضِ خُرَاسَانَ فِیْ مَدِيْنَۃٍ
“yuqtalo hafadatee be-arze khoraasaana fee madeenatin
“My grandson will be murdered in the land of Khorasan in a city
یُقَالُ لَہَا طُوْسٌ مَنْ زَارَہٗ عَارِفًا بِحَقِّہٖ
yoqaalo lahaa toosun man zaarahu a’arefan be-haqqehi
called Toos; whoever visits him in while recognizing his rightfulness,
اَخَذْتُہٗ بِیَدِیْ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَۃِ وَ اَدْخَلْتُہُ الْجَنَّۃَ
akhaztohu be-yadee yawmal qeyaamate wa adkhaltohul jannata
I will take his hand on the day of judgement and let him into Paradise,
وَ اِنْ كَانَ مِنْ اَہْلِ الْكَبَائِرِ
wa in kaana min ahlil kabaaere.”
even though he is a perpetrator of great sins.”
قِيْلَ لَهٗ مَا عِرْفَانُ حَقِّہٖ؟
qeela lahu: maa i’rfaano haqqehi?
It was asked from him: ‘What is meant by recognizing his rightfulness?’
قَالَ اَلْعِلْمُ بِاَنَّہٗ مُفْتَرَضُ الطَّاعَۃِ غَرِیْبٌ شَہِیْدٌ
qaala: “Al-i’lmo be-annahu muftarazut taa-a’te ghareebun shaheedun
He answered: “To know that he is the one whose obedience is obligatory, he is estranged and a martyr.
مَنْ زَارَہٗ عَارِفًا بِحَقِّہٖ اَعْطَاہُ اللہُ اَجْرَ سَبْعِیْنَ شَہِیْدًا
man zaarahu a’arefan be-haqqehi a-a’taahul laaho ajra sab-e’ena shaheedan
Whoever visits him while recognizing his rightfulness,Allah will grant him the reward of seventy martyrs
مِمَّنِ اسْتَشْہَدَ بَیْنَ یَدَیْ رَسُوْلِ اللہِ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَ اٰلِہٖ
mimmanis tash-hada bayna yaday rasoolil laahe sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehi.”
from among those truly martyred in front of the Messenger of Allah, blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny.”
یَابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللہِ اَبْتَغِیْ بِزِیَارَتِكَ مِنَ اللہِ تَعَالٰی
yabna rasoolil laahe abtaghee be-zeyaarateka menal laahe ta-a’alaa
O son of the Messenger of Allah! I desire earnestly from Allah – the High
غُفْرَانَ ذُنُوْبِیْ وَ ذُنُوْبِ وَالِدَیَّ
ghufraana zonoobee wa zonoobe waaledayya
– forgiveness of my sins, and the sins of my parents,
وَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ
wal moameneena wal moamenaate
and the believing men and women by your visitation.
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ الْاِتْیَانَ الْمَوْعُوْدَ فِیْ مَوَاطِنِ الثَّلَاثِ
wa as-alokal ityaanal maw-o’oda fee mawaatenis salaase:
And I ask you for arriving at the three promised places:
عِنْدَ تَطَایُرِ الْكُتُبِ وَ عِنْدَ الصِّرَاطِ وَ عِنْدَ الْمِیْزَانِ
“i’nda ta-taa-yoril kotobe wa i’ndas seraate wa i’ndal meezaane.”
“When records of deeds are given; at the Seraat (the bridge over Hell leading to Paradise) and at the Meezaan (Balance).”
وَ قُلْتَ وَ قَوْلُكَ حَقٌّ اِنَّ شَرَّ مَا خَلَقَ اللهُ
wa qulta wa qawloka haqqun: “inna sharra maa khalaqal laaho
You have said, and true are your words: “Surely, the most wicked creature of Allah (s.w.t.)
فِيْ زَمَانِيْ يَقْتُلُنِيْ بِالسَّمِّ
fee zamaanee yaqtolonee bis-samme
in my time, will kill me using poison.
ثُمَّ يَدْفِنُنِيْ فِيْ دَارٍ مُضِيْعَةٍ وَ بِلَادِ غُرْبَةٍ
summa yadfe-nonee fee daarin mozee-a’tin wa belaade ghurbatin
Then he will bury me in a very tight house in a strange town.
اَلَا فَمَنْ زَارَنِيْ فِيْ غُرْبَتِيْ كَتَبَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ
alaa faman zaaranee fee ghurbatee katabal laaho a’zza wa jalla
Know that whoever visits me in my loneliness, Allah – Mighty and Majestic be He -
لَهٗ اَجْرَ مِائَۃِ اَلْفِ حَاجٍّ وَ مُعْتَمِرٍ
lahu ajra me-ate alfe hajjin wa mo'tamerin
will record for him the reward of one-hundred thousand Hajj and Umra pilgrimages,
وَ مِائَۃِ اَلْفِ مُجَاہِدٍ وَ حُشِرَ فِیْ زُمْرَتِنَا
lahu ajra me-ate alfe mojaahedin wa hoshera fee zumratenaa
and one-hundred thousand fighters in the way of Allah. He will also be resurrected among our group.
وَ جُعِلَ فِیْ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلٰی مِنَ الْجَنَّۃِ رَفِیْقًا
wa jo-e’la fid darajaatil o’laa menal jannate rafeeqaa.”
He will be established in high ranks in Heaven as our friend.”
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِيْ وَفَّقَنِيْ لِزِيَارَتِكَ
alhamdo lillaahil lazee waffaqanee le-zeyaarateka
Praise be to Allah the One who gave me opportunity for your visitation
فِيْ الْبُقْعَةِ الَّتِيْ قُلْتَ فِيْ حَقِّهَا
fil buq-a’til latee qulta fee haqqehaa:
in the place regarding which it is said:
وَ اللهِ رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ مَنْ زَارَنِيْ
“wal laahe rawzatun min reyaazil jannate man zaaranee
And, by Allah, it is a garden from the gardens of Heaven.
فِيْ تِلْكَ الْبُقْعَةِ كَانَ كَمَنْ زَارَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
fee tilkal buq-a’te kaana kaman zaara rasoolil laahe
Whoever visits me in that shrine, it is as if he has visited Messenger of Allah,
صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِہٖ
sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehi
blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny.
وَ كَتَبَ اللہُ لَہٗ ثَوَابَ اَلْفِ حِجَّۃٍ مَبْرُوْرَۃٍ
wa katabal laaho lahu sawaaba alfe hijjatin mabrooratin
Allah (s.w.t.) will record for him the reward of one thousand accepted Hajjs (obligatory pilgrimage),
وَ اَلْفِ عُمْرَۃٍ مَقْبُوْلَۃٍ
wa alfe u’mratin maqboolatin
and one thousand accepted Umrahs (supererogatory pilgrimage).
وَ كُنْتُ اَنَا وَ اٰبَائِیْ شُفَعَآؤَہٗ یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَۃِ
wa kunto anaa wa aabaa-ee shofa-a’aa-ohu yawmal qeyaamate.”
Also I and my forefathers will intercede him on the Resurrection Day.”
فَكُنْ شَفِيْعِيْ بِاٰبَآئِكَ الطَّاہِرِیْنَ
fakum sha-fee-e’e be-aabaaa-ekat taahereena
Then intercede for me with your immaculate fathers
وَ اَوْلَادِكَ الْمُنْتَجَبِیْنَ مَوْلَایَ
wa awlaadekal muntajabeena mawlaaya
and your selected children, O my master!
اَنْتَ الَّذِیْ لَا یَزُوْرُكَ اِلَّا الْخَوَاصُّ مِنَ الشِّیْعَۃِ
antal lazee laa yazooroka illaal khawaasso menash shee-a’te
You are the one whom nobody visits except special ones from the Shias,
فَبِحَقِّكَ وَ بِحَقِّ شِیْعَتِكَ اَنْ تُشَفِّعَنِیْ
fa-be-haqqeka wa be-haqqe shee-a’teka an toshaf-fe-a’nee
then by your right and the right of your Shias that you accept my intercession,
وَ تَسْاَلُ اللہَ اَنْ یَحْشُرَنِیْ مَعَ شِیْعَتِكَ
wa tas-alul laaha an yahshoranee ma-a’ shee-a’teka
and I ask Allah to resurrect me with your Shias
فِیْ مُسْتَقَرِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَۃِ مَعَكُمْ اَہْلَ الْبَیْتِ
fee mustaqarre menar rahmate ma-a’kum ahlal bayte
in the dwelling-place of the mercy with you – Ahl al-Bayt,
مَعَكُمْ مَعَكُمْ لَا مَعَ غَیْرِكُمْ
ma-a’kum ma-a’kum laa ma’a ghayrekum
I am with you, I am with you, but not with any one other than you.
بَرِئْتُ اِلَی اللہِ مِنْ اَعْدَآئِكُمْ وَ تَقَرَّبْتُ بِاللہِ
be-rea-to elal laahe min a-a’daa-ekum barea-to bil-laahe
In the presence of Allah I repudiate your enemies, and I have sought nearness with Allah to you,
اِلَیْكُمْ اِنِّیْ مُؤْمِنٌ بِاِیَابِكُمْ مُنْتَظِرٌ لِاَمْرِكُمْ
elaykum innee moamenun be-eyaabekum muntazerun le-amrekum
I believe in your return, I am awaiting your issue,
مُصَدِّقٌ بِرَجْعَتِكُمْ مُتَرَقِّبٌ لِدَوْلَتِكُمْ
mosaddequn be-raj-a’tekum motaraqqebun le-dawlatekum
I give credence to your return, I am expecting your rule,
عَارِفٌ بِعِظَمِ شَاْنِكُمْ عَالِمٌ بِضَلَالَۃِ مَنْ خَالَفَكُمْ
a’arefun be-e’zame shaanekum a’alemun be-zalaalate man khaalafakum
I am aware of your great standing,I know the deviation of those who oppose you,
مُوَالٍ لَكُمْ وَ لِاَوْلِیَآئِكُمْ مُبْغِضٌ لِاَعْدَآئِكُمْ
mowaalin lakum wa le-awleyaaa-ekum mubghesun le-a-a’daaa-ekum
I am loyal to you and to your loyalists, I hate your enemies,
عَآئِذٌ لَآئِذٌ بِقُبُوْرِكُمْ
a’aa-ezun laaa-ezun beqoboorekum.
I seek protection and resort in your graves.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدِۨ النَّبِیِّ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadenin nabiyye
O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad, the Prophet,
وَ الْوَصِیِّ وَ الْبَتُوْلِ وَ السِّبْطَیْنِ وَ السَّجَّادِ
wal wasiyye wal batoole was sibtayne was sajjaade
the vicegerent (Imam Ali [a.s.]), the chaste lady (Lady Faatemah [s.a.]), the two grandsons (Imam Hasan [a.s.] Imam Husain [a.s.]), Imam Sajjad (a.s.),
وَ الْبَاقِرِ وَ الصَّادِقِ وَ الْكَاظِمِ وَ الرِّضَا
wal baaqere was saadeqe wal kaazeme war rezaa
Imam Baqir (a.s.), Imam Sadiq (a.s.), Imam Kazim (a.s.), Imam Reza (a.s.),
وَ التَّقِیِّ وَ النَّقِیِّ وَ الْعَسْكَرِیِّ
wat taqiyye wan naqiyye wal a’skariyye
Imam Taqi (a.s.), Imam Naqi (a.s.), Imam Askari (a.s.),
وَ الْمَہْدِیِّ صَاحِبِ الزَّمَانِ صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَیْہِمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَ
wal mahdiyye saahebiz zamaane salawaatoka a’layhim ajmae’en.
Imam Mahdi, master of the age, Your blessings be upon them all.
اَللّٰہُمَّ ہٰؤُلَآءِ سَادَتُنَا وَ قَادَتُنَا وَ ہُدَاتُنَا وَ دُعَاتُنَا
allaahumma haa-olaaa-e saadatonaa wa qaadatonaa wa hodaadonaa wa do-a’a-tonaa.
O Allah! These are our chiefs, our leaders, our guides and Your callers (to Allah).
اَللّٰہُمَّ وَفِّقْنَا لِطَاعَتِہِمْ وَ ارْزُقْنَا شَفَاعَتَہُمْ
allaahumma waffiqnaa le-taa-a’tehim war zuqnaa shafaa-a’tahum
O Allah! Grant us prosperity for obebying them, and grant us their intercession,
وَ احْشُرْنَا فِیْ زُمْرَتِہِمْ وَ اجْعَلْنَا مِنْ خِیَارِ مَوَالِیْہِمْ
wah shurnaa fee zumratehim waj-a’lnaa min kheyaare mawaaleehim
and resurrect us in their group, and make us from the best of their lovers,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ
be-rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeena
O most Merciful
وَ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِہِ الطَّیِّبِیْنَ الْمَعْصُوْمِیْنَ
wa sallal laaho a’laa mohammadin wa aalehit tayyebeenal ma’soomeena
and blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his pure and infallible progeny,
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلہِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ
wal hamdo lillaahe rabbil a’alameena.
and praise be to Allah Lord of the Worlds.
Then recite the supplications whch has been mentioned after keeping right and left side of the face and offer two units of salaat of ziyaarat near the head and beseech Allah – the Almighty.
7) SEVENTH ZIYAARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.) – ZIYAARAT OF SEVEN TRADITION (زيارت هفت حديث)
This Ziarat beautifully narrates the narrations of otherMasoomeen on the merits of visting Imam Ridha (as)
One more ziyaarat of Imam Reza (a.s.) has been narrated from Supplement (ملحقات) of Misbah Kafaami (r.a.) : Taking into consideration all the etiquette of ziyaarat after performing ceremonial bath of ziyaarat, stand in front of the holy grave back facing Qibla. After doing intention of ziyarat recite :
Then recite the supplications whch has been mentioned after keeping right and left side of the face and offer two units of salaat of ziyaarat near the head and beseech Allah – the Almighty.
Eighth form dt
(8) EIGHTH ZIYARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.) Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) narrates : This ziyaarat has been reported by one learned scholar, probably Shaheed (r.a.), and from the text of the ziyaarat it can be understood that this has been narrated by an infallible Imam (a.s.). Stand in front of the Zareeh and recite :
اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہُ وَحْدَہٗ لَا شَرِیْكَ لَہٗ
ash-hado an laa elaaha illal laaho wahdahu laa shareeka lahu
I bear witness that there is no god save Allah, alone without having any partner,
وَ اَشْہَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُہٗ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ
wa ash-hado anna mohammadan a’bdohu wa rasoolohu
and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی رَسُوْلِ اللہِ اَمِیْنِ اللہِ عَلٰی وَحْیِہٖ
assalaamo a’laa rasoolil laahe ameenil laahe a’laa wahyehi
Peace be upon Allah’s Messenger whom Allah has entrusted with His Revelations
وَ عَزَآئِمِ اَمْرِہٖ اَلْخَاتِمِ لِمَا سَبَقَ وَ الْفَاتِحِ لِمَا اسْتَقْبَلَ
wa a’zaaa-eme amrehi alkhaateme lemaa sabaqa wal faatehe lemas taqbala
and with His determined commandments, who sealed the previous Messages, paved the way to the coming blessings,
وَ الْمُہَیْمِنِ عَلٰی ذٰلِكَ كُلِّہٖ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
wal mohaymene a’laa zaaleka kullehi wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
and who prevails over all that. May Allah send His mercy and blessings on you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مَوْلَانَا اَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
assalaamo a’laa mawlaanaa ameeril moameneena
Peace be on our master, the Commander of the Faithful,
وَ سَیِّدِ الْوَصِیِّیْنَ وَ اَبِ الْاَئِمَّۃِ الْمَعْصُوْمِیْنَ
wa sayyedil wasiyyeena wa bil aimmatil ma’soomeena
and leader of the successors, and the father of the infallible Imams.
وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
May Allah send his mercy and blessings on you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی فَاطِمَۃَ الزَّہْرَآءِ سَیِّدَۃِ النِّسَآءِ
assalaamo a’laa faatemataz zahraaa-e sayyedatin nesaaa-e
Peace be on Faatemah al-Zahra, leader of the women.
وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
May Allah send his mercy and blessings on you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَي الْاَئِمَّةِ الْمَعْصُوْمِيْنَ سَادَةِ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ
assalaamo a’lal a-immatil ma’soomeena saadatil muttaqeena
Peace be on you; O infallible Imams, the masters of the pious,
وَ كُبَرَآءِ الصِّدِّيْقِيْنَ وَ اَعْلَامِ الْمُهْتَدِيْنَ
wa kobaraaa-is siddeeqeena wa a-a’laamil mohtadeena
chiefs of the truthful, and epitomes of the guided ones,
وَ اَنْوَارِ الْعَارِفِيْنَ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ
wa anwaaril a’arefeena wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
and the light for the cognizant. May Allah send his mercy and blessings on you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی مَوْلَانَا وَ سَیِّدِنَا اَلْاِمَامِ الْمَعْصُوْمِ
assalaamo a’laa mawlaanaa wa sayyedenaa al-emaamil ma’soome
Peace be on our master and our leader the infallible Imam
اَبِیْ الْحَسَنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مُوْسَی الرِّضَا وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
abil hasane a’liyy ibne moosar rezaa wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
Abul Hasan Ali Ibn Moosa al-Reza. May Allah send His mercy and blessings on you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yabna rasoolil laah
Peace be on you O son of Messenger of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ نَبِيِّ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yabna nabiyyil laah
Peace be on you, O son of Prophet of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna khaatamin nabiyyeen
Peace be on you, O son of the seal of all Prophets.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna sayyedil wasiyyeen
Peace be on you, O son of leader of the successors.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna ameeril moameneen
Peace be on you, O son of Commander of the Faithful.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ اِمَامِ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna emaamil muttaqeen
Peace be on you O son of the leader of the pious ones.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ قَآئِدِ الْغُرِّ الْمُحَجَّلِيْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna qaaa-edil ghurril mohajjaleen
Peace be on you O son of the leader of those in front.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَآءِ
assalaamo a’layka yabna faatemataz zahraaa-e
Peace be on you, O son of Faatemah,
سَيِّدَةِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ
sayyedate nesaaa-il a’alameen
the leader of the women of the Worlds.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ خَدِيْجَةَ الْكُبْرٰی اُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna khadeejatal kubraa ummil moameneen
Peace be on you, O son of Khadija al-Kubra, mother of the belevers.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ اَبِیْ عَبْدِ اللہِ الْحُسَیْنِ الشَّہِیْدِ
assalaamo a’layka yabna abee a’bdil laahil husainish shaheed
Peace be on you, O son of Abu Abdillah Husain, the martyr.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ زَیْنِ الْعَابِدِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yabna a’liyy ibnil husaine zainil a’abedeen
Peace be on you, O son of Ali ibn al-Husain,the adornment of the worshippers.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ اَبِیْ جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَاقِرِ لِعُلُوْمِ الدِّیْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yabna abee ja’farin mohammadenil baaqere le-o’loomid deen
Peace be on you, O son of Abu Ja’far Muhammad, the splitter of the knowledge of religion.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ اَبِیْ عَبْدِ اللہِ جَعْفَرِ ۨ الصَّادِقِ الْاَمِیْنِ
assalaamo assalaamo a’layka yabna abee a’bdil laahe ja’farenis saadeqil ameen
Peace be on you, O son of Abu Abdillah Ja’far, the truthful, the trustworthy.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ اَبِی الْحَسَنِ مُوْسَی الْكَاظِم
assalaamo a’layka yabna abil hasane moosal kaazeme
Peace be on you, O son of Abul Hasan Moosa, the suppressor of rage.
ِ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
May Allah send His mercy and blessings on you.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waliyyal laah
Peace be on you, O friend of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيْبَ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa habeebal laah
Peace be on you, O beloved of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفْوَةَ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa safwatal laah
Peace be on you, O chosen one of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَمُوْدَ الدِّيْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa a’moodad deen
Peace be on you, O pillar of the religion.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَصِيَّ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa wasiyya rasoolil laah
Peace be on you, O the successor of the Messenger of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa hujjatal laah
Peace be on you, O proof of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَآصَّةَ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa khaaas-satal laah
Peace be on you, O elite one of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَالِصَةَاللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa khaalesatal laah
Peace be on you, O sincere one of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْضِعَ سِرِّ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa yaa mawze-a’ sirril laah
Peace be on you, O repository of the secrets of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَيْبَةَ عِلْمِ اللهِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa a’ybata i’lmil laah
Peace be on you, O vessel of knowledge of Allah.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ الْاَنْبِيَآءِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa waaresal anbeyaaa
Peace be on you, O inheritor of the Prophets.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَصِيَّ الْاَوْصِيَآءِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa wasiyyal awseyaaa
Peace be on you, O successor of the successors.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مِشْكَاةَ الضِّيَآءِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa yaa mishkaataz zeyaaa
Peace be on you, O illuminated lamp.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُنْتَهَي الْعُلْيَا
assalaamo a’layka yaa muntahal u’lyaa
Peace be on you, O finality of elevation.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَاحِبَ الشَّرَفِ الْاَثِيْلِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa saahebash sharafil aseel
Peace be on you, O the one with deeply-rooted honour.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ذَا الْفِعْلِ الْجَمِيْلِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa zal fe’lil jameel
Peace be on you, O one with beautiful action.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَاحِبَ الْاَصْلِ الْاَصِيْلِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa saahebal aslil aseel
Peace be on you, O owner of the noble origin.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اُسَّ الْاِيْمَانِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa ussal eemaan
Peace be on you, O foundation of faith.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَرِيْكَ الْقُراٰنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa shareekal quraan
Peace be on you, O partner of Quran.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَعْدِنَ الْاِیْمَانِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa ma’denal eemaan
Peace be on you, O treasure of faith.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اِمَامَ الْاَبْرَارِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa emaamal abraar
Peace be on you, O righteous Imam.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا وَصِیَّ الْمُخْتَارِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa wasiyyal mukhtaar
Peace be on you, O successor of the chosen ones.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مُظْہِرَ الْاَسْرَارِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa muzheral asraar
Peace be on you, O manifester of secrets.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا صَاحِبَ الْمُعْجِزَاتِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa saahebal mo’jezaat
Peace be on you, O the owner of miracles.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مُوْضِحَ الْبَیِّنَاتِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa yaa moozehal bayyenaat
Peace be on you, O explainer of clear proofs.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الصِّرَاطُ الْمُسْتَقِیْمُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohas seraatul mustaqeem
Peace be on you, O the straight path.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الدِّیْنُ الْقَوِیْمُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohad deenul qaweem
Peace be on you, O the upright religion.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مِصْبَاحَ الْہُدٰی
assalaamo a’layka yaa misbaahal hodaa
Peace be on you, O lamp of guidance.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَاْوَی التُّقٰی
assalaamo a’layka yaa maawat toqaa
Peace be on you, O haven for the god-fearing.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَجْدَ الْحِجٰی
assalaamo a’layka yaa majdal hejaa
Peace be on you, O glory of perception.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا طَوْدَ النُّہٰی
assalaamo a’layka yaa tawdin nohaa
Peace be on you, O mountain of wisdom.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلِیْكَ اَیُّہَا الدَّاعِیْ اِلَی الْمَحَجَّۃِ الْعُظْمٰی
assalaamo a’layka ayyohad daa-e’e elal mahajjatil u’zmaa
Peace be on you, O the one who invites to the greatest Path,
وَ الطَّاعِنُ اِلَی الْغَایَۃِ الْقُصْوٰی
wat taa-e’no elal ghaayatil quswaa
and advancing to the final destination,
وَ السَّامِیْ اِلَی الْمَجْدِ وَ الْعُلٰی
was saamee elal majde wal o’laa
and sublime towards glory and dignity.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الْعَالِمُ بِالتَّاْوِیْلِ وَ الذِّكْرٰی
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal a’alemo bit-taaweele waz zikraa
Peace be on you, O the one who knows the interpretation and is the cause of remembrance.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا دَلِیْلَ الرَّشَادِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa daleelar rashaad
Peace be on you, O proof of uprightness.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ السَّادَۃِ الْاَمْجَادِ
assalaamo a’layka yabnas saadatil amjaad
Peace be on you, O son of master of glories.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ الْقَادَۃِ الزُّہَّادِ
assalaamo a’layka yabnal qaadatiz zohhaad
Peace be on you, O son of leader of the ascetics.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مِصْبَاحَ الظُّلَمِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa misbaahaz zolam
Peace be on you, O lantern in darkness.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا یَنْبُوْعَ الْحِكَمِ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
assalaamo a’layka yaa yanboo-a’l hekam wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
Peace be on you, O spring of wisdoms. May Allah send His mercy and blessings on you.
اَشْهَدُ يَا مَوْلَايَ اَنَّكَ الْمُطِيْعُ لِلهِ اَلْقَآئِمُ بِاَمْرِ اللهِ
ash-hado yaa mawlaaya annakal mo-tee-o’ lillaahe al-qaaa-emo be-amril laahe
I testify, O my master, that surely you are obedient to Allah, upright with the command of Allah,
اَلْعَامِلُ بِاِرَادَتِهٖ اَلْفَآئِزُ بِكَرَامَتِہٖ
al-a’amelo be-eraadatehi al-faaa-ezo bekaraamatehi
putting into practice His will, winning His Honoring,
اِصْطَفَاكَ اللہُ لِعِلْمِہٖ وَ اخْتَارَكَ لِسِرِّہٖ
istafaakal laaho le-i’lmehi wakh taaraka le-sirrehi
Allah has chosen you with His knowledge, selected you to keep His secret,
وَ اَعَزَّكَ بِہُدَاہُ وَ خَصَّكَ بِبُرْہَانِہٖ
wa a-a’zzaka be-hodaaho wa khassaka be-burhaanehi
equipped you with His guidance, distinguished you with His clear proofs,
وَ اَیَّدَكَ بِرُوْحِہٖ وَ رَضِیَكَ خَلِیْفَۃً فِیْ اَرْضِہٖ
wa ayyadaka be-roohehi wa razeyaka khaleefatan fee arzehi
supported you with His Holy spirit, and accepted you as vicegerents in His lands,
وَ دَاعِیًا اِلٰی حَقِّہٖ وَ شَہِیْدًا عَلٰی خَلْقِہٖ
wa daa-e’yan elaa haqqehi wa shaheedan a’laa khalqehi
and callers towards His rights, and witness upon His creatures,
وَ نَاصِرًا لِدِیْنِہٖ وَ حُجَّۃً عَلٰی بَرِیَّتِہٖ
wa naaseran le-deenehi wa hujjatan a’laa bariyyatehi
and helpers for His religion, and proofs for His creatures,
وَ تَرْجُمَانًا لِوَحْیِہٖ وَ خَازِنًا لِعِلْمِہٖ
wa tarjomaanan le-wahyehi wa khaazenan le-i’lmehi
and interpreters for His revelation, and treasurer of His knowledge,
وَ مُسْتَوْدَعًا لِحِكْمَتِہٖ
wa mustawde-a’n le-hikmatehi
and stores of His wisdom,
عَصَمَكَ اللہُ مِنَ الذُّنُوْبِ وَ بَرَّاَكَ مِنَ الْعُیُوْبِ
a’samakal laaho menaz zonoobe wa barraaka menal o’yoobe
Allah has preserved you against sins, and freed you from defects.
زُرْتُكَ یَا مَوْلَایَ عَارِفًا بِحَقِّكَ
zurtoka yaa mawlaaya a’arefan be-haqqeka
I have visited you, O my master, knowing your right,
مُسْتَبْصِرًا بِشَاْنِكَ مُہْتَدِیًا بِہُدَاكَ
mustabseran be-shaaneka mohtadeyan be-hodaaka
well aware of your status, rightly-guided by your guidance,
مُقْتَضِیًا لِاَثَرِكَ مُتَّبِعًا لِسُنَّتِكَ
muqtazeyan le-asareka muttabe-a’n le-sunnateka
implementing your traditions, following your course,
مُتَمَسِّكًا بِحَبْلِكَ مُطِیْعًا لِاَمْرِكَ
motamassekan be-hableka motee-a’n le-amreka
clinging to your rope, obedient to your command,
مُوَالِیًا لِوَلِیِّكَ مُعَادِیًا لِعَدُوِّكَ
mowaaleyan le-waliyyeka mo-a’adeyan le-a’duwweka
befriending your friend, hating your enemy,
عَالِمًا بِاَنَّ الْحَقَّ لَكَ وَمَعَكَ مُتَوَسِّلًا اِلَی اللہِ بِكَ
a’aleman be-annal haqqa laka wa ma-a’ka motawasselan elal laahe beka
knowing that truth is for you and with you, turning towards Allah through you,
مُسْتَشْفِعًا اِلَیْہِ بِجَاہِكَ وَ حَقٌّ عَلَیْہِ
mustashfe-a’n elayhe be-jaaheka wa haqqun a’layhe
seeking your intercession with Him by your name and your right upon Him
اَنْ لَا یُخَیِّبَ سَآئِلَہٗ
an laa yokhayyeba saaa-elahu
that beseecher is never disappointed
وَ الرَّاجِیْ مَا عِنْدَہٗ لِزَآئِرِكَ الْمُطِیْعِ لَكَ
war raajee maa i’ndahu le-zaaa-erekal motee-e’ laka.
and hoping that your obedient visitor will get what is with you.
Then raise both the hands and say :
اَللّٰہُمَّ فَكَمَا وَفَّقْتَنِیْ لِلْاِیْمَانِ بِنَبِیِّكَ
allaahumma fakamaa waffaqtanee lil-eemaane be-nabiyyeka
O Allah! As You have granted me success for faith on Your prophet,
وَ التَّصْدِیْقِ بِكِتَابِكَ وَ مَنَنْتَ عَلَیَّ بِطَاعَتِہٖ
wat tasdeeqe be-ketaabeka wa mananta a’layya be-taa-a’tehi
and giving credence to Your Book, and You have conferred upon me with the favor of obeying him,
وَ اِتِّبَاعِ مِلَّتِہٖ وَ ہَدَیْتَنِیْ اِلٰی مَعْرِفَتِہٖ
wa ittebaa-e’ millatehi wa hadaytanee elaa ma’refatehi
and following his religion, and guided me to his recognition
وَ مَعْرِفَۃِ الْاَئِمَّۃِ مِنْ ذُرِّیَّتِہٖ
ma’refatil a-immate min zurriyyatehi
and the recognition of the Imams from his progeny,
وَ اَكْمَلْتَ بِمَعْرِفَتِہِمُ الْاِیْمَانَ
wa akmalta be-ma’refatehemul eemaana
and You have completed my faith with their recognition,
وَ قَبِلْتَ بِطَاعَتِہِمْ وَ وِلَایَتِہِمُ الْاَعْمَالَ
wa qabilta be-taa-a’tehim wa welaayatehemul a-a’maale
and accepted my deeds for obedience and loyalty to them,
وَ اسْتَعْبَدْتَ بِالصَّلَاۃِ عَلَیْہِمْ عِبَادَكَ
was ta’badta bis-salaate a’layhim e’baadaka
and You have ordered Your servants to send blessings on them as Your worship,
وَ جَعَلْتَہُمْ مِفْتَاحًا لِلدُّعَآءِ وَ سَبَبًا لِلْاِجَابَۃِ
wa ja-a’ltahum miftaahan lid-do-a’aa-e wa sababan lil-ejaabate
and You have made them keys for asking and cause for acceptance,
فَصَلِّ عَلَیْہِمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَ وَ عَلٰی مَوْلَانَا سَیِّدِنَا
fa-salle a’layhim ajma-e’ena wa a’laa mawlaanaa sayyedenaa
then send blessings upon them all and on our master and chief
اَبِیْ الْحَسَنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مُوْسٰی
abil hasane a’li ibne moosaa
Abul Hasan Ali Ibn Moosa,
وَ اجْعَلْنِیْ بِہِمْ عِنْدَكَ وَ جِیْہًا فِی الدُّنْیَا وَ الْآخِرَۃِ
waj a’lnee behim i’ndaka wajeehan fid dunyaa wal aakherate
and make me due to them, a notable person in Your eyes in this and the next world.
وَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ وَ اجْعَلْ ذُنُوْبَنَا بِہِمْ مَغْفُوْرَۃً
wa menal moqarrabeena waj a’l zonoobanaa behim maghfooratan
Make me amongst those close to You. And forgive our sins because of them,
وَ عُیُوْبَنَا بِہِمْ مَسْتُوْرَۃً وَ فَرَآئِضَنَا مَشْكُوْرَۃً
wa o’yoobanaa behim mas-tooratan wa faraaa-ezanaa mashkooratan
and hide our faults because of them, and make our obligatory actions praiseworthy,
وَ نَوَافِلَنَا مَبْرُوْرَۃً وَ قُلُوْبَنَا بِذِكْرِكَ مَعْمُوْرَۃً
wa nawaafelanaa mabrooratan wa qoloobanaa be-zikreka ma’mooratan
and our voluntary acts virtuous, and our hearts full of reference by Your rememberance,
وَ اَنْفُسَنَا بِطَاعَتِكَ مَسْرُوْرَۃً
wa anfosanaa be-taa-a’teka masrooraran
and our selves happy by Your obedience
وَ جَوَارِحَنَا عَلٰی خِدْمَتِكَ مَقْہُوْرَۃً
wa jawaarehanaa a’laa khidmateka maqhooratan
and tame our limbs by serving You,
وَ اَسْمَآئَنَا فِیْ خَوَآصِّكَ مَشْہُوْرَۃً
wa asmaaa-anaa fee khawaaas-seka mash-hooratan
and make our names prominent among Your distinguished,
وَ اَرْزَاقَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ مَدْرُوْرَۃً
wa arzaaqanaa min ladunka madrooratan
and our sustenance continued from Your side,
وَ حَوَآئِجَنَا لَدَیْكَ مَیْسُوْرَۃً
wa hawaaa-ejanaa ladayka maysooratan
and our needs obtainable from You,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ
be-rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.
O most Merciful !
Stand at the head and say :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَي الْقَآئِمِ مَقَامِ الْاَنْبِيَآءِ
assalaamo a’lal qaaa-eme maqaamil anbeyaaa
Peace be on the one who is existent on the place of prophets.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَي الْوَارِثِ عُلُوْمِ الْاَوْصِيَآءِ
assalaamo a’lal waarese o’loomil awseyaaa
Peace be on the inheritor of the knowledge of successors.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَي خَلِيْفَةِ اللهِ وَ خَلِيْفَةِ رَسُوْلِهٖ
assalaamo a’laa khaleefatil laahe wa khaleefate rasoolehi
Peace be on the successor of Allah and successor of His messenger.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی زِمَامِ الدِّیْنِ
assalaamo a’laa zemaamid deen
Peace be on the rein of the religion.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی نِظَامِ الْمُسْلِمِیْنَ
assalaamo a’laa nezaamil muslemeen
Peace be on regularity of the Muslims.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰی صَلَاحِ الدُّنْیَا وَ عُمْدَۃِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ
assalaamo a’laa salaahid dunyaa wa u’mdatil moameneen
Peace be on the goodness of the world and pillar of the believers.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اَصْلَ الْاِسْلَامِ النَّامِیْ
assalaamo a’layka yaa aslal islaamin naamee
Peace be on you, O origin of growing Islam.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا فَرْعَۃُ السَّامِیْ
assalaamo a’layka yaa far-a’tus saamee
Peace be on you, O elevated branch.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ بِہٖ تَمَامُ الصَّلَاۃِ وَ الزَّكَاۃِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa man behi tamaamus salaate waz zakaate
Peace be on you, O the one through whom the prayer, zakat,
وَ الصِّیَامِ وَ الْحَجِّ وَ الْجِہَادِ وَ تَوَفُّرِ الْفَیْءِ وَ الصَّدَقَاتِ
was seyaame wal hajje wal jehaade wa tawafforil fay-e was sadaqaate
fasting, hajj and jehad completed, and the booty and alm flows,
وَ اِمْضَآءِ الْحُدُوْدِ الْمُسَمَّیَاتِ وَ الْاَحْكَامِ الْمُبَیَّنَاتِ
wa imzaaa-il hodoodil mosammayaate wal ahkaamil mobayyanaat.
and the sign of specified limits, and explained rulings.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْمُحَلِّلُ حَلَالَ اللهِ وَ الْمُحَرِّمُ حَرَامَهٗ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal mohallelo halaalal laahe wal moharremo haraamahu
Peace be upon the one who permitted the lawful (acts) of Allah and prohibited His unlawful (acts).
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الْمُقِیْمُ حُدُوْدَ اللہِ وَ اَحْكَامَہٗ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal moqeemo hodoodal laahe wa ahkaamahu
Peace be upon the one who appraised the limits of Allah and His laws.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الذَّآبُّ عَنْ دِیْنِ اللہِ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohaz zaaab-bo a’n deenil laahe
Peace be on the one who defends the religion of Allah
بِالْحِكْمَۃِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَۃِ الْحَسَنَۃِ
bil-hikmate wal maw-e’zatil hasanate
with wisdom and excellent exhortation.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الدَّاعِیْ اِلَی اللہِ بِالْحُجَّۃِ الْبَالِغَۃِ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohad daa-e’e elal laahe bil-hujjatil baaleghate
Peace be on the one who calls towards Allah with conclusive argument.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ فَضْلُہٗ كَالشَّمْسِ الْمُضِیْۗئَۃِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa man fazlohu kash-shamsil mo-zeee-atit
Peace be on you, O the one whose excellence is like the rising bright sun,
الطَّالِعَۃِ اَلْمُجَلِّلَۃِ بِنُوْرِہَا لِلْعَالَمِ
taa-le-a’te al-mojallelate be-noorehaa lil-a’alame
which brightens the world with its light.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّہَا الْبَدْرُ الْمُنِیْرُ وَ السِّرَاجُ الْطَّاہِرُ
assalaamo a’layka ayyohal badrul moneero was-seraajut-tahero
Peace be on you, O radiant moon, immaculate torch,
وَ النُّوْرُ السَّاطِعُ وَ النَّجْمُ الْہَادِیْ
wa noorus saate-o’ wan najmul haadee
shining light and guiding star.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا عِزَّ الْمُسْلِمِیْنَ وَ غَیْظَ الْمُنَافِقِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa i’zzal muslemeena wa ghayzal monaafeqeena
Peace be on you, O honour of the Muslims and despise of the hypocrites.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا بَوَارَ الْكَافِرِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa bawaaral kaafereena
Peace be on you, O ruiner of the unbelievers.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اَبَا السَّادَۃِ الْمَیَامِیْنِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa abas saa-datil mayaameen
Peace be on you, O father of the blessed chiefs.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ عَجَزَتْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ فَضْلِہِ الْبُلَغَآءُ
assalaamo a’layka yaa man a’jazat a’n zikre fazlehil bolaghaaa-o
Peace be on you, O the one whose remembrance of excellence the rhetoricians are powerless,
وَ قَصُرَتْ عَنْ اِدْرَاكِہِ الْفُصَحَآءُ
wa qasorat a’n idraakehil fosahaaa-o
and the eloquents cannot reach your position,
وَ تَحَیَّرَتْ فِیْ نَعْتِ فَضْلِہِ الْخُطَبَآءُ
wa tahayyarat fee na’te fazlehil khotabaaa-o
and the orators are perplexed in describing your excellence,
وَ لَمْ تَنْتَہِ اِلَیْہِ الْحُكَمَآءُ
wa lam tantahe elayhil hokamaaa-o
and the wise do tread this path,
ذٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللہِ یُؤْتِیْہِ مَنْ یَشَآءُ وَ اللہُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِیْمِ
“zaaleka fazlul laahe yoateehe man yashaaa-o wal laaho zul fazlil a’zeem”
“That is Allah’s grace; He grants it to whom He pleases, and Allah is the Lord of Mighty Grace.”
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَوْلَایَ وَ عَلٰی اٰبَآئِكَ الْاَكْرَمِیْنَ
assalaamo a’layka yaa mawlaaya wa a’laa aabaaa-ekal akrameena
Peace be on you, O my master and on your noble fathers
وَ اَبْنَآئِكَ الطَّاہِرِیْنَ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
wa abnaaa-ekat taahereena wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
and pure children. May the mercy and blessings of Allah be on you.
Then kiss the zareeh, perform salaat of ziyaarat and say
يَا شَامِخًا فِيْ بُعْدِهٖ یَا رَئ ُوْفًا فِیْ رَحْمَتِہٖ
yaa shaame-khan fee bo’dehi yaa ra-oofan fee rahmatehi
O Sublime in His distance ! O Kind in His mercy !
یَا مُحْیِیَ الْاَمْوَاتِ یَا مُخْرِجَ الْنَّبَاتِ
yaa mohyeyal amwaate yaa mukhrejan nabaate
O giver of life to the dead ! O Bringer forth of plants !
یَا ظَہْرَ اللَّاجِیْنَ یَا جَارَ الْمُسْتَجِیْرِیْنَ
yaa zahral laajeena yaa jaaral mustajeereena
O Asylum of the refugees! O Protector of those who seek protection!
یَا اَسْمَعَ السَّامِعِیْنَ یَا اَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِیْنَ
yaa asma-a’s saame-e’ena yaa absaran naazereena
O Most Hearing of the hearers ! O Most Seeing of the viewers !
یَا صَرِیْخَ الْمُسْتَصْرِخِیْنَ
yaa sareekhal mustasrekheena
O Succor of the grieved !
یَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لَا عِمَادَ لَہٗ
yaa e’maada man laa e’maada lahu
O Support of the unsupported !
یَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَا سَنَدَ لَہٗ
yaa sanada man laa sanada lahu
O Holder of the holdless !
یَا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لَا ذُخْرَ لَہٗ
yaa zukhra man laa zukhra lahu
O Supplier of those who lack supplies !
یَا حِرْزَ الضُّعَفَآءِ یَا كَنْزَ الْفُقَرَآءِ
yaa hirzaz zo-a’faaa-e yaa kanzal foqaraaa-e
O Shelter for the weak ! O Treasure for the poor !
یَا عَظِیْمَ الرَّجَآءِ یَا مَنْقِذَ الْغَرْقٰی
yaa a’zeemar rajaaa-e yaa munqezal gharqaa
O He Who is greatly hoped ! O Rescuer of the drowned !
یَا مُحْیِیَ الْمَوْتٰی
yaa mohyeyal mawtaa
O He Who causes the dead to live again !
یَا اَمَانَ الْخَآئِفِیْنَ یَا اِلٰہَ الْعَالَمِیْنَ
yaa amaanal khaaa-efeena yaa elaahal a’alameena
O Protection for the frightened ! O Lord of the worlds !
یَا صَانِعَ كُلِّ مَصْنُوْعٍ یَا جَابِرَ كُلِّ كَسِیْرٍ
yaa saane-a’ kulle masnoo-i’n yaa jaabera kulle kaseerin
O He Who Makes all things made ! O He Who sets all things broken !
یَا صَاحِبَ كُلِّ غَرِیْبٍ یَا مُوْنِسَ كُلِّ وَحِیْدٍ
yaa saaheba kulle ghareebin yaa moonesa kulle waheedin
O Companion for all stranger ! O Intimate to those alone !
یَا قَرِیْبًا غَیْرَ بَعِیْدٍ یَا شَاہِدًا غَیْرَ غَآئِبٍ
yaa qareeban ghayra ba-e’edin yaa shaahe-dan ghayra ghaaa-eb
O One who is close without being far ! O One who is present, not absent !
یَا غَالِبًا غَیْرَ مَغْلُوْبٍ یَا حَیُّ حِیْنَ لَا حَیَّ
yaa ghaaleban ghayra maghloobin yaa hayyo heena laa hayya
O triumphant without being [ever] defeated !O Alive when there is no one living (but Him).
یَا مُحْیِیَ الْمَوْتٰی یَا حَیُّ لَا الٰہَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ
yaa mohayeyal mawtaa yaa hayyo laa elaaha illaa anta
O One who gives life to the dead. O Ever-living ! there is no deity save You,
بَدِیْعُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ
badee-u’s samaawaate wal arze
the originator of the heavens and the earth,
اَنْتَ الْقَآئِمُ عَلٰی كُلِّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ
antal qaaa-emo a’laa kulle nafsin bemaa kasabat
You watch every soul as to what it earns !
اَسْاَلُكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّیَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
as-aloka an tosalleya a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin
I beseech You that You send blessings upon Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad,
( صَلَاۃً تُرْضِیْہِمْ وَ تُخْطِیْہِمْ (تَخْطِیْہِمْ
salaatan turzeehim wa tukhteehim (takhteehim)
blessing which makes them happy and transcend,
وَ تُبَلِّغُہُمْ اَقْصٰی رِضَاكَ وَ اَنْ تَرْحَمَ ذُلِّیْ بَیْنَ یَدَیْكَ
wa toballeghohum aqsaa rezaaka wa an tarhama zullee bayna yadayka
and they can attain Your ultimate happiness, and that You have mercy on my humiliation in front of You,
وَ تَضَرُّعِیْ اِلَیْكَ وَ وَحْشَتِیْ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَ اُنْسِیْ بِكَ
wa tazarro-e’e elayka wa wahshatee menan naase wa unsee beka
on my earnest imploring to You, on my loneliness among people, and on my amiability with You.
یَا كَرِیْمُ تَصَدَّقْ عَلَیَّ فِیْ ہٰذِہِ السَّاعَۃِ بِرَحْمَۃٍ
yaa kareemo tasaddaq a’layya fee haazehis saa-a’te be-rahmatin
O All-generous! Endue me at this very hour with mercy
مِنْ عِنْدِكَ تَہْدِیْ بِہَا قَلْبِیْ وَ تَجْمَعُ بِہَا اَمْرِیْ
min i’ndeka tahdee behaa qalbee wa tajma-o’ behaa amree
from You by which You tranquilize my heart, bring together my affairs,
وَ تَلُمُّ بِہَا شَعْثِیْ وَ تُبَیِّضُ بِہَا وَجْہِیْ
wa talummo behaa sha’see wa tobayyezo behaa wajhee
reunite my scattering, whiten my face,
وَ تُكْرِمُ بِہَا مَقَامِیْ وَ تَحُطُّ بِہَا عَنِّیْ وِزْرِیْ
wa tukremo behaa maqaamee wa tahutto behaa a’nnee wizree
confer honor on my status, relieve me from my burdens,
وَ تَغْفِرُ بِہَا مَا مَضٰی مِنْ ذُنُوْبِیْ
wa taghfero behaa maa mazaa min zonoobee
forgive my past sins,
وَ تَعْصِمُنِیْ بِہَا فِیْمَا بَقِیَ مِنْ عُمْرِیْ
wa ta’semonee behaa feemaa baqeya min u’mree
protect me against sinning in the rest of my lifetime,
وَ تَسْتَعْمِلُنِیْ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ كُلِّہٖ بِطَاعَتِكَ
wa tas-ta’melonee fee zaaleka kullehi be-taa-a’teka
employ me in my entire lifetime in acts of obedience to You
وَ مَا یُرْضِیْكَ عَنِّیْ وَ تَخْتِمُ عَمَلِیْ بِاَحْسَنِہٖ
wa maa yurzeeka a’nnee wa takhtemo a’malee be-ahsanehi
and acts that bring about Your pleasure, seal my deeds with the best of them,
وَ تَجْعَلُ لِیْ ثَوَابَہُ الْجَنَّۃَ
wa taj-a’lo lee sawaabahul jannata
decide Paradise to be my reward for that,
وَ تَسْلُكُ بِیْ سَبِیْلَ الصَّالِحِیْنَ
wa tas-loko bee sabeelas saaleheena
lead me to the path of the righteous,
وَ تُعِیْنُنِیْ عَلٰی صَالِحِ مَا اَعْطَیْتَنِیْ
wa to-e’enonee a’laa saalehe maa a-a’taytanee
help me do well with the virtuous of what You have given me,
وَ لَا تُشْمِتْ بِیْ حَاسِدًا وَ لَا عَدُوًّا
wa laa tushmit bee haasedan wa laa a’duwwan
never make one who envies me gloat at my misfortune, and my enemy,
وَ لَا تَكِلْنِیْ اِلٰی نَفْسِیْ طَرْفَۃَ عَیْنٍ اَبَدًا
wa laa takilnee elaa nafsee tarfata a’ynin abadan
and never leave me alone with my own affairs even for a winking of an eye
وَ لَا اَقَلَّ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ وَ لَا اَكْثَرَ یَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِیْنَ
wa laa aqalla min zaaleka wa laa aksara yaa rabbal a’alameen.
or less or more than that. O Lord of the worlds !
Then supplicate whatever you want. Return to head side of the holy grave and say
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ زُرْتُ هٰذَا الْاِمَامَ مُقِرًّا بِاِمَامَتِهٖ
ma innee zurto haazal emaama moqirran be em
O Allah! I am visiting this Imam confessing his Im
مُعْتَقِدًا لِفَرْضِ طَاعَتِهٖ فَقَصَدْتُ مَشْهَدَهٗ بِذُنُوْبِيْ
mo’taqedan le-farze taa-a’tehi fa-qasad-to mash-hadahu be- zonoobee
and believing in the obligation of the obedience to him; therefore,I have betaken myself to his shrine in spite of all of my sins,
وَعُيُوْبِيْ وَ مُوْبِقَاتِ آثَامِيْ وَكَثْرَةِ سَيِّئَاتِيْ وَ خَطَايَايَ
wa o’yoobee wa moo-beqaate aasaamee wa kasrate sayye-aatee wa khataayaaya
defects, the perils of my wrongdoings, my numerous misdeeds and faults,
وَ مَا تَعْرِفُهٗ مِنِّيْ مُسْتَجِيْرًا بِعَفْوِكَ مُسْتَعِيْذًا
wa maa ta’refohu minnee mustajeeran be-a’fweka musta-e’ezan
and whatsoever You know about me; taking shelter in Your amnesty, seeking refuge of Your forbearance,
بِحِلْمِكَ لَاجِئًا اِلٰى رُكْنِكَ عَآئِذًا بِرَافَتِكَ
be-hilmeka laa-je-an elaa rukneka a’aa-edzan be-raafateka
resorting to Your asylum, seeking the protection of Your compassion,
مُسْتَشْفِعًا بِوَلِيِّكَ وَ ابْنِ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ
mustash-fe-a’n be-waliyyeka wab ne awle-yaaa-eka
seeking the intercession of Your vicegerent and the son of Your vicegerent,
وَصَفِيِّكَ وَ ابْنِ اَصْفِيَآئِكَ
wa safiyyeka wab ne asfe-yaaa-eka
Your choicest servant and the son of Your choicest servants,
وَ اَمِيْنِكَ وَ ابْنِ اُمَنَائِكَ
wa ameeneka wab ne omanaaa-eka
Your trustee and the son of Your trustees,
وَ خَلِيْفَتِكَ وَ ابْنِ خُلَفَآئِكَ
wa khaleefateka wab ne khola-faaa-ekal
and Your representative and the son of Your representatives,
الَّذِيْنَ جَعَلْتَهُمُ الْوَسِيْلَةَ اِلٰى رَحْمَتِكَ
lazeena ja-a’ltahomul waseelata elaa rahmateka
whom You have made the means to approach Your mercy
وَ رِضْوَانِكَ وَالذَّرِيْعَةَ اِلٰى رَافَتِكَ وَ غُفْرَانِكَ
wa rizwaaneka waz zaree-a’ta elaa raa-fateka wa ghufraaneka.
and pleasure and the channels to Your compassion and forgiveness.
اَللّٰهُمَّ وَ اُوْلٰی حَاجَاتِيْ اِلَيْكَ اَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ ذُنُوْبِيْ عَلٰى كَثْرَتِهَا
allaahumma wa oolaa haajaatee elayka an taghfera lee maa salafa min zonoobee a’laa kasratehaa
O Allah! My first needs from You is that I implore You to forgive all of my previous sins although they are numerous,
وَ اَنْ تَعْصِمَنِيْ فِيْمَا بَقِيَ مِنْ عُمْرِيْ
wa an ta’semanee feemaa baqeya min u’mree
to protect me (against sinning) in my coming lifetime,
وَ تُطَهِّرَ دِيْنِيْ مِمَّا يُدَنِّسُهٗ وَ يَشِيْنُهٗ وَ يُزْرِيْ بِهٖ
wa to-tahera deenee mimmaa yodannesohu wa yasheenohu wa yuzree behi
to purify my religion from whatsoever stains, disgraces, or degrades it,
وَ تَحْمِيَهٗ مِنَ الرَّيْبِ وَ الشَّكِّ وَ الْفَسَادِ وَ الشِّرْكِ
wa tahmeyahu menar raybe wash shakke wal fasaade wash shirke
to save it from suspect, doubt, corruption, and blasphemy,
وَ تُثَبِّتَنِيْ عَلٰى طَاعَتِكَ وَ طَاعَةِ رَسُوْلِكَ
wa tosabbetanee a’laa taa-a’teka wa taa-a’te rasooleka
to make me stand firm on the obedience to You, to Your Messenger,
وَ ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّجَبَآءِ السُّعَدَآءِ صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ
wa zurriyyatehin nojabaaa-is so-a’daaa-e salawaatoka a’layhim
and to his Progeny, the pure and happy, may Your blessings be upon them
وَ رَحْمَتُكَ وَ سَلَامُكَ وَ بَرَكَاتُكَ
wa rahmatoka wa salaamoka wa barakaatoka
as well as Your mercy, peace, and favors,
وَتُحْيِيَنِيْ مَا اَحْيَيْتَنِيْ عَلٰى طَاعَتِهِمْ
wa toh-yeyanee maaa ahyaytanee a’laa taa-a’tehim
to make me live as long as You grant me life on the obedience to them,
وَ تُمِيْتَنِيْ اِذَا اَمَتَّنِيْ عَلٰى طَاعَتِهِمْ
wa tomeetanee ezaa amattanee a’laa taa-a’tehim
to make me die, when You decide so, on the obedience to them,
وَ اَنْ لَا تَمْحُوَ مِنْ قَلْبِي مَوَدَّتَهُمْ وَ مَحَبَّتَهُمْ
wa an laa tamhowa min qalbee mawaddatahum wa mahabbatahum
and not to erase from my heart my love and affection for them,
وَ بُغْضَ اَعْدَآئِهِمْ وَ مُرَافَقَةَ اَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ وَ بِرَّهُمْ
wa bughza a-a’adaaa-ehim wa moraafaqata awleyaaa-ehim wa birrahum.
my aversion to their enemies, my companionship of their adherents, and my acting piously towards them.
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ يَا رَبِّ اَنْ تَقْبَلَ ذٰلِكَ مِنِّيْ
wa as-aloka yaa rabbe an taqabbala zaaleka minnee
I also beseech You, O my Lord, to accept all that from me,
وَ تُحَبِّبَ اِلَيَّ عِبَادَتَكَ وَ تُبَغِّضَ اِلَيَّ مَعَاصِيَكَ
wa tohabbeba elayya e’baadataka wa tobagh-gheza elayya ma-a’a-seyaka
to endear my worshipping You to myself, to make me loathe acts of disobedience to You,
وَتَرْزُقَنِيْ تَوْبَةً نَصُوْحًا تَرْضَاهَا
wa tarzoqanee tawbatan nasoohan tarzaahaa
and to grant me a sincere repentance that You accept,
وَ نِيَّةً تَحْمَدُهَا وَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا تَقْبَلُهٗ
wa niyyatan tahmadohaa wa a’malan saalehan taqbalohu
an intention that You praise, and righteous deed that You admit,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا ارْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
be rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.
by Your mercy, O the most Merciful of the mercifuls.
While bidding farewell stand in front of the Zareeh keeping back towards Qiblah, say :
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَمِيْنَ اللهِ فِيْ اَرْضِهٖ
assalaamo a’layka yaa ameenal laahe fee arzehi
Peace be on you, O the trusted one of Allah on His earth,
وَ حُجَّتَہٗ عَلٰی خَلْقِہٖ وَ خَازِنَ عِلْمِہٖ
wa hujjatahu a’laa khalqehi wa khaazena i’lmehi
His proof on His creatures, and a treasurer of His knowledge,
وَ مَوْضِعَ سِرِّہٖ وَ بَابَ اَمْرِہٖ وَ نَہْیِہٖ
wa mawze-a’ sirrehi wa baaba amrehi wa nahyehi
and repository of His secrets, and door of what is deemed lawful and what is deemed unlawful by Him,
وَ صِرَاطَہُ الْمُسْتَقِیْمَ سَلَامَ مُوَدِّعٍ
wa seraatehul mustaqeema salaama mowadde-i’n
and His straight path, I send my farewell greetings to you
وَ لَا سَئِمٍ وَ لَا قَالٍ وَ لَا مَالٍّ
wa laa sa-emin wa laa qaalin wa laa maallin
for if I leave it is not because I am tired orthat I wish to leave or that I dislike.
وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ
wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
May the mercy and blessings of Allah be on you.
اَللّٰہُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin
O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and the progeny of Muhammad.
وَ اجْعَلْ غُدُوَّنَا مَقْرُوْنًا بِالتَّوَكُّلِ عَلَیْكَ
waj a’l ghoduwwanaa maqroonan bit-tawakkole a’layka
And make our coming to you effective trust upon You,
وَ رَوَاحَنَا عَنْكَ مَوْصُوْلًا بِالنَّجَاحِ مِنْكَ
wa rawaahanaa a’nka mawsoolan bin-najaahe minka
and our leaving from you correlated success from You,
وَ دُعَآئَنَا لَكَ مَقْرُوْنًا بِحُسْنِ الْاِجَابَۃِ
wa do-a’aa-anaa laka maqroonan be-husnil ejaabate
and our prayers for you effective with good acceptance,
وَ خُضُوْعَنَا بَیْنَ یَدَیْكَ دَاعِیًا اِلٰی رَحْمَتِكَ
wa khozoo-a’naa bayna yadayka daa-e’yan elaa rahmateka
and our humiliation in front to You is answer towards Your mercy,
وَ اعْتِرَافِنَا بِذُنُوْبِنَا شَفِیْعًا اِلٰی عَفْوِكَ
wa’ teraafenaa be-zonoobenaa sha-fee-a’n elaa a’fweka
and our confession of our sins is intercessor towards Your pardon,
وَ ارْزُقْنَا الْعَوْدَ اِلٰی زِیَارَتِہٖ ثُمَّ الْعَوْدَ اِلَیْہِ
war zuqnal a’wda elaa zeyaaratehi summal a’wda elayhe
and grant us the opportunity to visit again and again for his visitation.
بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ
be-rahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.
By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all. O Allah !
اَللّٰہُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْہُ اٰخِرَ الْعَہْدِ مَنَّا لِزِیَارَۃِ سَیِّدَنَا
allaahumma laa taj-a’lho aakheral a’hde minnaa le-zeyaarate sayyedanaa
Do not make this our last visitation of our master
وَ اِمَامِنَا الْمَفْرُوْضِ طَاعَتِہٖ عَلَیْنَا
wa emaamanal mafrooze taa-a’tehi a’laynaa
and our Imam whose obedience is obligatory on us,
وَ ارْزُقْنَا زِیَارَتَہٗ اَبَدًامَا اَبْقَیْتَنَا
war zuqnaa zeyaaratahu abadan maa abqaytanaa
grant us a chance to visit him for as long as we are alive,
اِنَّكَ ذُوْ الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِیْمِ وَ الْمَنِّ الْجَسِیْمِ
innaka zool fazlil a’zeeme wal mannil jaseeme
for You verily the Lord of great favouring and plentiful conferral.
وَ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلٰی سَیِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِہِ الطَّاہِرِیْنَ
wa sallal laaho a’laa sayyedenaa mohammadin wa aalehit taahereen.
And blessings of Allah be upon our master Muhammad and his pure progeny.
(8) EIGHTH ZIYARAT OF IMAM REZA (A.S.) Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) narrates : This ziyaarat has been reported by one learned scholar, probably Shaheed (r.a.), and from the text of the ziyaarat it can be understood that this has been narrated by an infallible Imam (a.s.). Stand in front of the Zareeh and recite :
Then raise both the hands and say :
Stand at the head and say :
Then kiss the zareeh, perform salaat of ziyaarat and say
Then supplicate whatever you want. Return to head side of the holy grave and say
While bidding farewell stand in front of the Zareeh keeping back towards Qiblah, say :
Ziyarat of imam-e-zamana (a.t.f.s.) inside the shrine of imam reza (A.S.)
In this chapter Ziyaarat of Hazrat Baqiyatullah Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) to be recited inside the shrine of Imam Reza (a.s.) is mentioned:
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا صَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا خَلِیْفَۃَ الرَّحْمٰنِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا شَرِیْکَ الْقُرْآنِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا قَاطِعَ الْبُرْهَانِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَا اِمَامَ الْاِنْسِ وَالْجَآنِّ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰی اٰبَآئِكَ الطَّیِّبِیْنَ وَ اَجْدَادِكَ الطَّاہِرِیْنَ الْمَعْصُوْمِیْنَ وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ.
assalaamo a’layka yaa saahebaz zamaan assalaamo a’layka yaa khaleefatar rahmaan assalaamo a’layka yaa shareekal qur-aaan assalaamo a’layka yaa qaate-a’l burhaan assalaamo a’layka yaa emaamal inse wal jaaan assalaamo a’layka wa a’laa aabaaa-ekat tayyebeena wa ajdaadekat taahereenal ma’soomeena wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatoh.
Peace be on you, O king of times. Peace be on you, O caliph of the Beneficent. Peace be on you, O companion of Qur’an. Peace be on you, O decisive argument. Peace be on you, O Imam of men and jinn. Peace be on you, and on your immaculate fathers, pure and infallible forefathers. May the mercy and blessings of Allah be on you.[37]
Wednesday ziyarat of Imam Ridha (as)

َلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الرِّضَا الْمُرْتَضٰى سَـمِيِّ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ وَ اِمَامِ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ خَلِيْفَةِ الرَّحْمٰنِ وَ اِمَامِ اَهْلِ الْقُرْآنِ
assalaamo a’lar rezal murtazaa samiyye sayyedil wasiyyeen wa emaamil muttaqeen khaleefatir rahmaane wa emaame ahlil qur-aane
Peace be upon al-Reza, the well-pleased, exalted chief of the Prophet’s successor, and leader of the pious ones, representative of the Beneficent, and leader of the people of the Holy Quran,
وَ صَاحِبِ التَّاْوِيْلِ وَ مَعْدِنِ الْفُرْقَانِ وَ حَامِلِ التَّوْرَاةِ وَ الْاِنْـجِيْلِ وَ اِفْنَآءِ الْـخَبِيْثَاتِ وَ الْاَبَاطِيْلِ وَ الْقَائِلِ الْفَاعِلِ
wa saahebit taaweele wa ma’denir furqaan wa haamelit tawraate wal injeele wa ifnaaa-il khabeesaate wal abaateele wal qaa-elil faa-e’le
the man of true interpretation, core of distinction (between the right and the wrong), the bearer of the Torah and the Gospel, destructor of the mischiefs and the vanities, instructor and doer (of action),
وَ الْـحَاكِمِ الْعَادِلِ وَ الصَّادِقِ وَ الْـحَاكِمِ الْعَادِلِ وَ الصَّادِقِ الْبَرِّ وَ الْـحَائِزِ الْفَخْرِ جَدُّهٗ سَيِّدُ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَ اَبُوْهُ سَيِّدُ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ وَ اِلَيْهِ مَآبُ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ وَ الْآخِرِيْنَ
wal haakemil a’adele was saadeqil barre wal haa-ezil fakhre jaddohu sayyedun nabiyyeena wa abooho sayyedul wasiyyeena wa elayhe ma-aaabul awwaleena wal aakhereena
the evenhanded judge, the truthful good doer, the possessor of the honour, his grandfather is the chief of the messengers, and his father is the chief of the Prophet’s successor, and to him is the place of return for the first and the last.
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَبَا الْـحَسَنِ عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُوسَى الرِّضَا وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُـحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلٰى اٰلِ مُـحَمَّدٍ وَ كَمَا اَكْرَمْتَهٗ بِـمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُوْلِكَ وَ جَعَلْتَهٗ فِيْ الْـحَقِّ دَلِيْلَكَ فَدَعَا اِلٰى سَبِيْلِكَ بِالْـحِكْمَةِ وَ الْمَوْعِظَةِ الْـحَسَنَةِ
assalaamo a’layka yaa abal hasane a’liyy ibne moosar rezaa wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatohu allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa a’laa aale mohammadin wa kamaa akramtahu be-mohammadin rasooleka wa ja-a’ltahu fil haqqe daleelaka fa-da-a’a elaa sabeeleka bil-hikmate wal maw-e’zatil hasanate
Peace be on you, O Abal Hasan Ali, son of Moosa al-Reza and mercy of Allah and his blessings. O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad and on the progeny of Muhammad, and like You have honoured him with Muhammad, Your Prophet and appointed him as Your truthful guide, then he called towards Your path with wisdom and fair exhortation,
فَاَكْمِلْ لَهُ الْعَهْدَ وَ تَـمِّمْ لَهُ الْوَعْدَ وَ اَيِّدْهُ وَ ذُرِّيَّتَهٗ وَ اَوْلِيَآئَهٗ بِالنَّصْرِ وَ الْـجُنْدِ لِيُخَلِّصَ الدِّيْنَ بِالْـجِدِّ فَيَعْمَلَ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ بِالْـجَهْدِ وَ يُصَيِّرَ لَكَ الدِّيْنَ خَالِصًا وَ الْـحَمْدَ تَامًّا
fa-akmil lahul a’hda wa tammim lahul wa’da wa ayyidho wa zurriyyatahu wa awleyaaa-ohu bin-nasre wal junde le-yokhallesad deena bil-jidde fa-ya’mala fee zaaleka bil-jahde wa yosayyera lakad deena khaalesan wal hamda taam-man
then complete for him the promise, then complete for him the covenant and finish for him the promise, and support him and his progeny and his friends with victory and army to purify the religion with devotion, then act in it with exertion so he renders for Your pure religion and complete praise.
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ حَيًّا وَ مَيِّتًا وَ عَـجِّلْ فَرَجَنَا بِهٖ وَ بِالْوَصِيِّ مِنْ بَعْدِهٖ وَ انْصُرْهُ عَلٰى اَهْلِ طَاعَةِ الشَّيْطَانِ وَ اَعْزِزْ بِهِ الْاِيْـمَانَ وَ اَذْلِلْ بِهِ الشَّيْطَانَ.
allaahumma salle a’layhe hayyan wa mayyetan wa a’jjil farajanaa behi wa bil-wasiyye min ba’dehi wan surho a’laa ahle taa-a’tish shaytaane wa a-a’ziz behil eemaana wa azlil behish shaytaana.
O Allah! Send blessings upon him when he is alive and when he dies, and expediate our relief by him and the vicegerent after him, and help him against the people of Satan, and through him honour the belief and degrade the Satan.
Bidding Farewell to Imam al-Rida
When you intend to leave and bid farewell to the Imam, you may say the same form, which has been cited for bidding farewell to the Holy Prophet (s). This form is as follows:
لاَ جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ تَسْلِيمِي عَلَيْكَ
la ja`alahu allahu akhira taslimi `alayka
Allah may not decide this compliment of me to be the last.
You may then add the following words:
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya allahi wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu
Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you, O Allah’s authority.
اَللَّهُمَّ لاََ تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ
allahumma la taj`alhu akhira al`ahdi
O Allah, (please) do not decide this visit
مِنْ زِيَارَتِي ٱبْنَ نَبِيِّكَ وَحُجَّتَكَ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِكَ
min ziyarati ibna nabiyyika wa hujjataka `ala khalqika
to be the last of my visit to the son of Your Prophet and Your argument against Your creatures.
وَٱجْمَعْنِي وَإِِيَّاهُ فِي جَنَّتِكَ
wajma`ni wa iyyahu fi jannatika
Include me with him in Your Paradise
وَٱحْشُرْنِي مَعَهُ وَفِي حِزْبِهِ
wahshurni ma`ahu wa fi hizbihi
and involve me with him and with his group
مَعَ ٱلشُّهَدَاءِ وَٱلصَّالِحِينَ
ma`a alshshuhada'i walssalihina
with the martyrs and the righteous ones;
وَحَسُنَ اولٰئِكَ رَفِيقاً
wa hasuna ula'ika rafiqan
and excellent the companionship of these is.
وَاسْتَوْدِعُكَ ٱللَّهَ وَاسْتَرْعِيكَ
wa astawdi`uka allaha wa astar`ika
I entrust you with Allah, ask Him to keep you under His custody,
وَاقْرَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلسَّلاَمَ
wa aqra'u `alayka alssalama
and invoke His blessings upon you.
آمَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلرَّسُولِ
amanna billahi wa bilrrasuli
We believe in Allah, in the Messenger,
وَبِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ وَدَلَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ
wa bima ji'ta bihi wa dalalta `alayhi
and in whatever you have come with and instructed.
فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّاهِدِينَ
faktubna ma`a alshshahidina
So, (please) write us down with those who bear witness.
When you intend to leave and bid farewell to the Imam, you may say the same form, which has been cited for bidding farewell to the Holy Prophet (s). This form is as follows:

Short Ziarat 1
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَوْلَایَ وَابْنَ مَوْلَایَ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا غَرِیْبَ الْغُرَبَاۤءِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا سُلْطَانَ اَبَا الْحَسَنِ عَلِیَّ ابْنَ مُوْسَی الرِّضَا وَ رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ وَ بَرَكَاتُہٗ۔
alssalāmu ʿalayka īā mawlāīa wabna mawlāīa s-salāmu ʿalayka īā gharība l-ghurabāۤ'i s-salāmu ʿalayka īā sulṭāna aba l-ḥasani ʿalyya abna muwsay r-riḍā wa raḥmatullah wa barakātuan۔
Peace be upon you, my master and son of my master. Peace be upon you, stranger of strangers. Peace be upon you, Sultan Aba al-Hasan Ali ibn Musa al-Rida, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.
Short Ziyarat 2
اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا غَرِيْبَ الْغُرَبَاۤءِ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُعِيْنَ الضُّعَفَاۤءِ وَالْفُقَرَاۤءِ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُغِيْثَ الشِّيْعَةِ وَالزُّوَّارِ فِيْ يَوْمِ الْجَزَاۤءِ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَاۤ اَنِيْسَ النُّفُوْسِ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْمَدْفُوْنُ بِاَرْضِ طُوْسِ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَلِيَّ ابْنَ مُوْسَي الرِّضَا وَالتَّحِيَّةُ وَ الثَّنَاۤءُ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰي اٰبَاۤئِكَ السَّبْعَةِ وَ اَبْنَاۤئِكَ الْاَرْبَعَةِ، اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ۔
alssalāmu ʿalayka yā ghariyba l-ghurabāۤ'i, s-salāmu ʿalayka yā muʿiyna ḍ-ḍuʿafāۤ'i wa l-fuqarāۤ'i, s-salāmu ʿalayka yā mughiytha sh-shiyʿati wa z-zuwwāri fiy yawmi l-jazāۤ'i, s-salāmu ʿalayka yāۤ aniysa n-nufuwsi, s-salāmu ʿalayka ayyuha l-madfuwnu bi arḍi ṭuwsi, s-salāmu ʿalayka yā ʿaliyya abna muwsay r-riḍā wa t-taḥiyyatu wa t-ththanāۤ'u, s-salāmu ʿalayka wa ʿalāī ābāۤ'ika s-sabʿati wa abnāۤ'ika l-arbaʿati, s-salāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatu Llāhi wa barakātuhu۔
Peace be upon you, O stranger of strangers, peace be upon you, O helper of the weak and the poor, peace be upon you, O helper of the Shia and the visitors on the Day of Judgment, peace be upon you, O companion of souls, peace be upon you, O buried in the land of Tus, peace be upon you, O Ali ibn Musa, satisfaction and greetings and Praise be to God, peace be upon you and your seven fathers and your four sons, peace be upon you and God’s mercy and blessings.

Salawaat (Invocation of Blessings) on Imam Ali Ridha (peace be upon him)
Salat Ja`far at Imam al-Rida’s Tomb `Allamah al-Majlisi has reported the following from a statement handwritten by the sublime Shaykh Husayn ibn `Abd al-Samad the father of Shaykh al-Baha'i:
Shaykh Abu’l-Tayyib Husayn ibn Ahmad al-Razi, the jurisprudent, has mentioned that whoever visits Imam al-Rida (`a) or any other Imam and performs there the famous prayer known as Salat Ja`far, will have the reward of one who has gone on ritual hajj for thousand times, gone on ritual `umrah for one thousand times, manumitted one thousand slaves for the sake of Allah, and participated in a holy war with a missioned Prophet one thousand times for each unit of prayer he performs. For each step that he makes, he will be granted the reward of one hundred times of going on ritual hajj and one hundred times of going on ritual `umrah; and he will also gain the rewards of doing one hundred good deeds and one hundred punishable sins of him will be erased.

Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) has narrated in Behaar al-Anwaar the farewell to the holy Imams (a.s.) thus:
...وَا شَوْقَاهْ اِلٰى تَقْبِيْلِ اَعْتَابِكُمْ وَ الْوُلُوْجِ بِاِذْنِكُمْ لِاَبْوَابِكُمْ وَ تَعْفِيْرِ الْـخَدِّ عَلٰى اَرِيْـجِ تُرَابِكُمْ وَ اللِّيَاذِ بِعَرَصَاتِكُمْ وَ مَـحَالِّ اَبْدَانِكُمْ وَ اَشْـخَاصِكُمُ الْمَحْفُوْفَةِ بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ الْكِرَامِ وَ الْمَتْحُوْفَةِ مِنَ اللهِ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَ السَّلَامِ...
“How much I am eager to kiss the entrance of your shrine and with your permission want to rub the dust on my face. I want shelter in your courtyard and your holy bodies and personalities which are surrounded by the noble angels blessed by Almighty Allah with mercy and peace…” (Behaar al-Anwaar, vol. 102, p. 205)
While kissing the entrance of the shrines of infallible Imams (a.s.) one should be mindful that this is the place where Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) will put his holy feet. During the period of his minor and major occultation he (a.t.f.s.) time and again elevated the dignity of these holy places.
Believing in the sanctity of the Holy Quran, we kiss the cover of the Holy Quran. In the same way, we kiss the entrance of the shrines of the infallible Imams (a.s.) owing to their dignity and nobility.
Is there anything else except that why should we not give regards to the holy shrines of the holy Imams (a.s.) which is the place of frequent visits of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) since a long time.
Late Ayatullah Ahmad Mustambat says: One of the etiquette of Ziyaarat is kissing the entrance of the holy shrines. This is excluded from the conformity of the prostration but it is the expression of our love and affection. For example, if anyone bends to kiss his son, nobody thinks that this bowing is genuflection or prostration.
It is said that when late Ayatullah Shaikh Ansari was asked regarding the kissing of the entrances of the shrines of holy Imams (a.s.) he said: ‘I kiss the threshold of the shrine of Hazrat Abbas (a.s.) because I consider it to be his footsteps, whereas kissing the entrance of the shrines of infallible Imams (a.s.) is more elevated.’
Some of the great scholars are seen that they used to kiss the entrance of Hurr Ibn Yazeed al-Reyaahi (r.a.). (Al-Ziyaarah wa al-Bashaarah, vol. 1, p. 13)
He further said: Kissing the earth in front of Imam (a.s.)’s shrine is also one of the etiquette of ziyaarat and this is in the basis of narration of Safwan Ibn Yahya narrated in ‘Wasaael’ from the book ‘Oyoon’, chapter 129, under the chapters of ‘Ashrah’, Book of Hajj. They say:
Abu Qurrah, attendant of Jaasaleeq, asked me to take him to Imam Reza (a.s.). I asked Imam Reza (a.s.) for permission, and he agreed. Abu Qurrah came to Imam Reza (a.s.) and kissed his seat (masnad) and said that it is obligatory in our religion to give regards to the respectable personalities in this manner.
Imam Reza (a.s.) did not stop him from doing this act. One must know that holy Imams (a.s.) do not remain silent for any wrong act or thing. There are many more traditions in this regard. When a caravan from Qum reached in the presence of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) in order to pay their regards to him they fell down on the ground and kissed the ground in front of the Imam (a.s.) as a mark of respect. Salawaat (Invocation of Blessings) on Imam Ali Ridha (peace be upon him)
Salat Ja`far at Imam al-Rida’s Tomb `Allamah al-Majlisi has reported the following from a statement handwritten by the sublime Shaykh Husayn ibn `Abd al-Samad the father of Shaykh al-Baha'i:
Shaykh Abu’l-Tayyib Husayn ibn Ahmad al-Razi, the jurisprudent, has mentioned that whoever visits Imam al-Rida (`a) or any other Imam and performs there the famous prayer known as Salat Ja`far, will have the reward of one who has gone on ritual hajj for thousand times, gone on ritual `umrah for one thousand times, manumitted one thousand slaves for the sake of Allah, and participated in a holy war with a missioned Prophet one thousand times for each unit of prayer he performs. For each step that he makes, he will be granted the reward of one hundred times of going on ritual hajj and one hundred times of going on ritual `umrah; and he will also gain the rewards of doing one hundred good deeds and one hundred punishable sins of him will be erased.

Allamah Majlisi (r.a.) has narrated in Behaar al-Anwaar the farewell to the holy Imams (a.s.) thus:
...وَا شَوْقَاهْ اِلٰى تَقْبِيْلِ اَعْتَابِكُمْ وَ الْوُلُوْجِ بِاِذْنِكُمْ لِاَبْوَابِكُمْ وَ تَعْفِيْرِ الْـخَدِّ عَلٰى اَرِيْـجِ تُرَابِكُمْ وَ اللِّيَاذِ بِعَرَصَاتِكُمْ وَ مَـحَالِّ اَبْدَانِكُمْ وَ اَشْـخَاصِكُمُ الْمَحْفُوْفَةِ بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ الْكِرَامِ وَ الْمَتْحُوْفَةِ مِنَ اللهِ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَ السَّلَامِ...
“How much I am eager to kiss the entrance of your shrine and with your permission want to rub the dust on my face. I want shelter in your courtyard and your holy bodies and personalities which are surrounded by the noble angels blessed by Almighty Allah with mercy and peace…” (Behaar al-Anwaar, vol. 102, p. 205)
While kissing the entrance of the shrines of infallible Imams (a.s.) one should be mindful that this is the place where Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) will put his holy feet. During the period of his minor and major occultation he (a.t.f.s.) time and again elevated the dignity of these holy places.
Believing in the sanctity of the Holy Quran, we kiss the cover of the Holy Quran. In the same way, we kiss the entrance of the shrines of the infallible Imams (a.s.) owing to their dignity and nobility.
Is there anything else except that why should we not give regards to the holy shrines of the holy Imams (a.s.) which is the place of frequent visits of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) since a long time.
Late Ayatullah Ahmad Mustambat says: One of the etiquette of Ziyaarat is kissing the entrance of the holy shrines. This is excluded from the conformity of the prostration but it is the expression of our love and affection. For example, if anyone bends to kiss his son, nobody thinks that this bowing is genuflection or prostration.
It is said that when late Ayatullah Shaikh Ansari was asked regarding the kissing of the entrances of the shrines of holy Imams (a.s.) he said: ‘I kiss the threshold of the shrine of Hazrat Abbas (a.s.) because I consider it to be his footsteps, whereas kissing the entrance of the shrines of infallible Imams (a.s.) is more elevated.’
Some of the great scholars are seen that they used to kiss the entrance of Hurr Ibn Yazeed al-Reyaahi (r.a.). (Al-Ziyaarah wa al-Bashaarah, vol. 1, p. 13)
He further said: Kissing the earth in front of Imam (a.s.)’s shrine is also one of the etiquette of ziyaarat and this is in the basis of narration of Safwan Ibn Yahya narrated in ‘Wasaael’ from the book ‘Oyoon’, chapter 129, under the chapters of ‘Ashrah’, Book of Hajj. They say:
Abu Qurrah, attendant of Jaasaleeq, asked me to take him to Imam Reza (a.s.). I asked Imam Reza (a.s.) for permission, and he agreed. Abu Qurrah came to Imam Reza (a.s.) and kissed his seat (masnad) and said that it is obligatory in our religion to give regards to the respectable personalities in this manner.
Imam Reza (a.s.) did not stop him from doing this act. One must know that holy Imams (a.s.) do not remain silent for any wrong act or thing. There are many more traditions in this regard. When a caravan from Qum reached in the presence of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) in order to pay their regards to him they fell down on the ground and kissed the ground in front of the Imam (a.s.) as a mark of respect.
