15th Shaaban
Amaal and Duaa - Night and Day

The Holy Prophet (sa.) had said that during the night of 15th Shaba'an the Almighty takes decisions in the matters of sustenance, life and death and welfare of the people.
One of the blessings of this night is that ,at the dawn of this night ,was born the Imam of our time Imam Mahdi Al Qaem - ajtfs in Samarra -Iraq in the year 255AH. Signifance of 15th Sha'aban

	Arabic Roman Translation

Perform Ghusl (Bath)
with the thought of washing away sins and as if its your last Ghusl.

Recite 100 times 'Astaghfirullah' with attention to seeking forgiveness.

Recite dua taught by Imam Ali(as) having special relevance for this night,known popularly as Dua e Kumayl

Special Short Ziyarat ofImam Husain (as)on 15th Sha'aban.
Another Ziyarat of Imam Husain (as)on 15th Rajab/Sha'aban.
The Prophets & The Angels visit Imam Hussain (as) on this night & performing the ziyarah is one of the most meritorious acts of this night.It has been said whoever wishes to shake hands with 124000 prophets should perform this ziyarah on this night
The least one can do as a short salutation to Imam Hussain(as) is ,one may go to the terrace/elevated place, look left, right & towards the sky & recite :

السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللّه السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّه وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Assalamu Alalika Ya Aba Abdillah Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah e wabarakatoh
Peace be upon you; O Aba-`Abdullah! Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

Recite Salawat Sha'abania
The main theme of this supplication revolves around the virtues of Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) as this is the month which Allah (SWT) dedicated to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).

Recite the following tonight and every night during the rest of the month.

اللّهُمَّ إنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ غَفَرْتَ لَنَا فِيمَا مَضَى مِنْ شَعْبَانَ فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِنْهُ.

Allaahumma In Lam Takun Ghafarta Lanaa Feema Maz”aa Min Shaa’baana Faghfirlanaa Feema Baqiya Minhu

O Allah if Thou has not forgiven us during the previous days of Shaban, then please be merciful to us in the days now follow

According to the Holy Prophet(saws) it is desirable to pray a
100 Raka’t Namaaz tonight, in 50 sets of 2 Raka’t
each as follows:
In every Raka’t, after the recitation of Soorah Al Faatih’ah, recite Soorah Al Ikhlaas 10 times.
After the Namaaz recite the following:
(i) Aayaatul Kursee 10 times
ii) Al Faatih’ah 10 times
iii) Subh’aanallah 100 times

According to Imam Jaa’far As Sadiq (A.S.) It is desirable to pray a6 Rak—a’t Salaat tonight, in 3 sets of 2 Raka’t each, as under:
In every Raka’t recite Surah Al Faatih’ah, Surah Yaa Seeen ,Surah Al Mulk & Surah Ikhlass

A’mal of Surah Yaseen(as in Almanac PET)
Recite Soorah Yaseen 3 times as under:
(i) Once for long life
(ii) Once for prosperity.
(iii) Once for safety from misfortune.
Then recite the following 21 times, without speaking in between:
اللهم إنك عليم حليم ذو أناةٍ , و لا طاقة لنا بحُكمك بحلمك
Allaahumma Innak A’zeemun D’u Anaatin Wa Laa T’aaqata Lanaa Li—h’ukmika
O Allah, verily Thou art Sublime, Patient, gives respite, (because) we do not have the capacity to withstand the conditions that take effect under Thy authority.

يا الله يا الله يا اللّــــــه , الأمان الأمان الأمان
Yaa Allah Yaa Allah Yaa Allah Al —amaan Al —amaan Al —amaan
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah! Mercy Mercy

من الطاعون و الوباء و موتِ الفجأة , و سوء القضاء و و شماتة الأعداء
Minat T’aa--o’on Wal Wabaaa—i Wa Mawti Faja—a’tin Wa Soo—il Qaz”aaa-i Wa Shamatatil Aa’—aaaa—i
(Safety from the) rampant epidemics, accidental death, evil events, and rejoicing of enemies at (our) misfortune.

, ربنا اكشف عنا العذاب إنا مؤمنون برحمتك يا أرحم الراحمين
Rabbanak—shif A’nnal A’x’aaba Innaa Moo—minoona Bi—rah’matika Yaa Arh’amar Rah’imeen
O our Lord take away from us the pain and torment, truly we believe in Thy Mercy, O the most Merciful!

Write a Letter to Imam

According to Montakhab al Hasani it is recommended to pray immediately after Magrib prayer(before Isha prayer),
offer 2 rakat salat in each rakat after al Hamd recite 7 times Sura Ikhlass.
After salam read this dua 21 times and do not talk to anyone until recitation is completed

اللهم إنك عليم حليم ذو أناةٍ , و لا طاقة لنا بحُكمك بحلمك يا الله يا الله يا اللّــــــه , الأمان الأمان الأمان

Shaykh al-Tusy in ‘Misbah al-Mutahajjid’, has narrated a Hadith about the merits of the fifteenth night of Sha`ban entailing that Abu-Yahya asked Imam Ja`far al-sadiq (a.s) about the best of supplications at this night. The Imam (a.s) instructed him saying:
“After you finish the obligatory `Isha' Prayer, you may offer a
Two Rak`ah prayer
in the first of which you should recite
Surah of al-Fatihah and Surah of al-Kafirun and
in the second you should recite
Surah of al-Fatihah and Surah of al-Tawhid.
When you accomplish the prayer,
you may repeat
‘subhanallah’ thirty-three times,
‘alhamdulillah’ thirty-three times,
and ‘allahu-akbar’ thirty-four times.
You may then say the following supplication:

يَا مَنْ إلَيْهِ مَلْجَأُ الْعِبَادِ فِي الْمُهِمَّاتِ،

ya man ilayhi malja’u al`ibadi fi almuhimmati

O He to Whom the servants (of Him) resort in urgencies

وَإلَيْهِ يَفْزَعُ الْخَلْقُ فِي الْمُلِمَّاتِ،

wa ilayhi yafza`u alkhalqu fi almulimmati

and to Whom the creatures turn in ordeals;

يَا عَالِمَ الْجَهْرِ وَالْخَفِيَّاتِ،

ya `alima aljahri wal-khafiyyati

O He Who knows the open and the hidden matters;

يَا مَنْ لا تَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ خَوَاطِرُ الأَوْهَامِ وَتَصَرُّفُ الْخَطَرَاتِ،

ya man la takhfa `alayhi khawatiru alawhami wa tasarrfu alkhatarati

O He from Whom neither the ideas of illusions nor the initiatives of delusions can be concealed;

يَارَبَّ الْخَلائِقِ وَالْبَرِيَّاتِ،

ya rabbi alkhala’iqi wal-bariyyati

O the Lord of creatures and beings;

يَا مَنْ بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ الأَرَضِينَ وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ،

ya man biyadihi malakutu alaradina wal-ssamawati

O He Who grasps the kingdoms of the earth and the heavens;

أَنْتَ اللّهُ لا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ،

anta allahu la ilaha illa anta

You are verily Allah; there is no god save You;

أَمُتُّ إلَيْكَ بِلا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ،

amutt ilayka bila ilaha illa anta

I thus try to connect with you in the name of ‘There is no god save You’

فَيَا لا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ اجْعَلْنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ مِمَّنْ نَظَرْتَ إلَيْهِ فَرَحِمْتَهُ،

faya la ilaha illa anta aj`alny fi hadhihi allaylati mimmn nazarta ilayhi farahimtahu

So, O He save Whom there is no god: (please) include me at this night with those at whom You have looked and thus You have mercy upon them;

وَسَمِعْتَ دُعَاءَهُ فَأَجَبْتَهُ،

wa sami`ta du`a‘ahu fa-ajabtahu

and with those whose prayers have been heard by You and thus You have responded to them;

وَعَلِمْتَ اسْتِقَالَتَهُ فَأَقَلْتَهُ،

wa `alimta astiqalatahu fa-aqaltahu

and with those whose true repentance has been admitted by You and thus You have accepted it;

وَتَجَاوَزْتَ عَنْ سَالِفِ خَطِيئَتِهِ وَعَظِيمِ جَرِيرَتِهِ،

wa tajawazta `an salifi khatiiatihi wa `azimi jariratihi

and You have thus overlooked their past sins and enormous offenses.

فَقَدِ اسْتَجَرْتُ بِكَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي،

faqadi astajartu bika min dhunubi

verily, I am seeking Your shelter against my sins,

وَلَجَأْتُ إلَيْكَ فِي سَتْرِ عُيُوبِي.

wa lajatu ilayka fi satri `uyubi

and I am resorting to You so that You may conceal my defects.

اللّهُمَّ فَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِكَرَمِكَ وَفَضلِكَ،

allahumma fajud `alayy bikaramika wa fadlika

O Allah: (please) bestow lavishly upon me with Your generosity and Favor;

وَاحْطُطْ خَطَايَايَ بِحِلْمِكَ وَعَفْوِكَ،

wahtut khataiaiya bihilmika wa `afwika

and condone my misdeeds out of Your forbearance and pardon,

وَتَغَمَّدْنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ بِسَابِغِ كَرَامَتِكَ،

wa taghammdny fi hadhihi allaylati bisabighi karamatika

and encompass me, at this night, with Your opulent honoring,

وَاجْعَلْنِي فِيهَا مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِكَ الَّذِينَ اجْتَبَيْتَهُمْ لِطَاعَتِكَ،

waj`alny fiha min awlia’ika alladhina ajtabaytahum lita`atika

and include me at this night with Your intimate servants whom You have selected for obeying You,

وَاخْتَرْتَهُمْ لِعِبَادَتِكَ،

wakhtartahum li`ibadatika

and whom You have chosen for worshipping You,

وَجَعَلْتَهُمْ خَالِصَتَكَ وَصِفْوَتَكَ.

wa ja`altahum khalisataka wa sifwataka

and whom You have made Your elite and select people.

اللّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ سَعَدَ جَدُّهُ،

allahumma aj`alny mimmn sa`ada jadduhu

O Allah: (please) make me of those whose efforts are of a happy end,

وَتَوَفَّرَ مِنَ الْخَيْرَاتِ حَظُّهُ،

wa tawaffra mina alkhayrati hazzuhu

and those whose shares of good things are big,

وَاجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ سَلِمَ فَنَعِمَ،

waj`alny mimmn salima fana`ima

and make me of those who enjoy blissful life as they have been safe (from sins)

وَفَازَ فَغَنِمَ،

wa faza faghanima

and those who have been awarded excellently as they have won,

وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ مَا أَسْلَفْتُ،

wakfiny sharr ma aslaftu

and rescue me from the evil consequences of what I have committed,

وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنَ الإزْدِيَادِ فِي مَعْصِيَتِكَ،

wa`simny mina alazdiadi fi ma`siyatika

and save me from doing more acts of disobedience to You,

وَحَبِّبْ إلَيَّ طَاعَتَكَ وَمَا يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنْكَ وَيُزْلِفُنِي عِنْدَكَ.

wa habbib ilayya ta`ataka wa ma yuqarribuny minka wa yuzlifuny `indaka

and make me love the acts of obedience to You and whatever draws me near You and approaches me toward You.

سَيِّدِي إلَيْكَ يَلْجَأُ الْهَارِبُ،

sayyidy ilayka yalja’u alharibu

O my Master: a fugitive resorts to none save You,

وَمِنْكَ يَلْتَمِسُ الطَّالِبُ،

wa minka yaltamisu alttalibu

and a needy begs none save You,

وَعَلَى كَرَمِكَ يُعَوِّلُ الْمُسْتَقِيلُ التَّائِبُ،

wa `ala karamika yu`awwilu almustaqilu altta’ibu

and only on Your generosity does a repentant, contrite one depends

أَدَّبْتَ عِبَادَكَ بِالتَّكَرُّمِ وَأَنْتَ أَكْرَمُ الأَكْرَمِينَ،

addabta `ibadaka bilttakarrumi wa anta akramu alakramina

You have disciplined Your servants by means of generosity; and You are verily the most Generous of all those who are generous.

وَأَمَرْتَ بِالْعَفْوِ عِبَادَكَ وَأَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ.

wa amarta bil`afui `ibadaka wa anta alghafuru alrrahimu

and You have instructed Your servants to pardon; and You are verily the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.

اللّهُمَّ فَلا تَحْرِمْنِي مَا رَجَوْتُ مِنْ كَرَمِكَ،

allahumma fala tahrimny ma rajawtu min karamika

O Allah: (please) do not deprive me of Your generosity for which I hope,

وَلا تُؤْيِسْنِي مِنْ سَابِغِ نِعَمِكَ،

wa la tu´iisny min sabighi ni`amika

and do not make me despair of Your opulent bounties,

وَلا تُخَيِّبْنِي مِنْ جَزِيلِ قِسَمِكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ لأهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ،

wa la tukhayybny min jazili qisamika fi hadhihi allaylati liahli ta`atika

and do not disappoint me of Your abundant sustenance that You decide, this night, for those who are obedient to You,

وَاجْعَلْنِي فِي جُنَّةٍ مِنْ شِرَارِ بَرِيَّتِكَ،

waj`alny fi junnatin min shirari bariyyatika

and include me with Your protection against Your evil creatures.

رَبِّ إنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ ذلِكَ فَأَنْتَ أَهْلُ الْكَرَمِ وَالْعَفْوِ وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ،

rabbi in lam akun min ahli dhalika fanta ahlu alkarami wal-`afui wal-maghfirati

O my Lord: If I do not deserve so, then You are worthy of acting generously to me, and pardoning and forgiving me,

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ لا بِمَا أَسْتَحِقُّهُ،

wa jud `alayya bima anta ahluhu la bima astahiqquhu

and (please) bestow upon me magnanimously according to that which befits You, not according to what I deserve,

فَقَدْ حَسُنَ ظَنِّي بِكَ،

faqad hasuna zanni bika

verily, I carry an excellent opinion about You,

وَتَحَقَّقَ رَجَائِي لَكَ،

wa tahaqqaqa rajaiy laka

and I do hope for You,

وَعَلِقَتْ نَفْسِي بِكَرَمِكَ

wa `aliqat nafsi bikaramika

and my self is hanged to the rope of Your generosity,

فَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ،

fa-anta arhamu alrrahimina

for You are verily the most Merciful of all those who show mercy,

وَأَكْرَمُ الأَكْرَمِينَ.

wa akramu alakramina

and You are the most Generous of all those who are generous.

اللّهُمَّ وَاخْصُصْنِي مِنْ كَرَمِكَ بِجَزِيلِ قِسَمِكَ،

allahumma wakhsusny min karamika bijazili qisamika

O Allah: (please) confer upon me exclusively with an abundant share of what You decide, out of Your generosity,

وَأَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ،

wa a`udhu bi`afwika min `uqubatika

and I seek refuge with Your pardon against Your chastisement,

وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذَّنْبَ الَّذِي يَحْبِسُ عَلَيَّ الْخُلُقَ،

wa ghfir liya aldhdhanba alladhy yahbisu `alayya alkhuluqa

and (please) forgive me the sin that prevents me from enjoying high morals,

وَيُضَيِّقُ عَلَيَّ الرّزْقَ

wa yudayyiqu `alayya alrrzqa

and suppresses my sustenance,

حَتَّى أَقُومَ بِصَالِحِ رِضَاكَ،

hatta aquma bisalihi ridaka

so that I will do that which excellently achieves Your satisfaction

وَأَنْعَمَ بِجَزِيلِ عَطَائِكَ،

wa an`ama bijazili `ata’ika

and I will enjoy Your profuse granting,

وَأَسْعَدَ بِسَابِغِ نَعْمَائِكَ،

wa as`ada bisabighi na`ma’ika

and I will be delighted by Your abundant bounties.

فَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِحَرَمِكَ،

faqad ludhtu biharamika

I am having recourse to Your sanctity,

وَتَعَرَّضْتُ لِكَرَمِكَ،

wa ta`arradtu likaramika

and I am asking for Your generosity,

وَاسْتَعَذْتُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ،

wasta`adhtu bi`afwika min `uqubatika

and I am taking shelter in Your pardon against Your punishment,

وَبِحِلْمِكَ مِنْ غَضَبِكَ،

wa bihilmika min ghadabika

and in Your forbearance against Your ire.

فَجُدْ بِمَا سَأَلْتُكَ،

fajud bima sa-altuka

So, (please) bestow upon me generously with that which I have asked from You,

وَأَنِلْ مَا الْتَمَسْتُ مِنْكَ،

wa anil ma altamastu minka

and confer upon me with that which I have begged from You,

أَسْأَلُكَ بِكَ لا بِشَيْءٍ هُوَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْكَ.

asaluka bika la bishay‘in huwa a`zamu minka

I beseech You in Your name, since there is nothing great that You are.

You may prostrate yourself and repeat the following twenty times:

يَا رَبِّ.

ya rabb(i)

O my Lord!

And then repeat the following seven times:

يَا اَللهُ.

ya allah(u)

O Allah!

And then repeat the following seven times:

لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إلاَّ بِاللّهِ.

la hawla wala quwwata illa billah(i)

There is neither might nor power save with Allah.

And then repeat the following ten times

مَا شَاءَ اللهٌُ.

ma sha’allah(u)

Only that which Allah wants (will be).

And then repeat the following ten times
:

لا قُوَّةَ إلاَّ بِاللّهِ.

la quwwata illa billahi

There is no power save with Allah.

You may then pray to Almighty Allah for sending blessings upon the Holy Prophet and ask for settling your requests. It is mentioned in Hadith 'By Allah I swear, even if you pray for needs as many as raindrops, Almighty Allah, out of His generosity and favors, will settle them all.”

اللّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ لَيْلَتِنَا هذِهِ وَمَوْلُودِهَا

allahumma bihaqqi laylatina hadhihi wa mawludiha

O Allah: I beseech You in the name of this night and in the name of him whom was born at it

وَحُجَّتِكَ وَمَوْعُودِهَا،

wa hujjtika wa maw`udiha

and in the name of Your Argument and in the name of Your promise in it,

الَّتِي قَرَنْتَ إلَى فَضْلِهَا فَضْلاً،

allaty qaranta ila fadliha fadlan

the night that You have added a new merit to its many merits

فَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُكَ صِدْقاً وَعَدْلاً،

fatammt kalimatuka sidqan wa `adlan

So, Your Word has been accomplished truly and fairly;

لا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِكَ،

la mubaddla likalimatika

no one can change Your words,

وَلا مُعَقِّبَ لآيَاتِكَ،

wa la mu`aqqba li-ayatika

nor obscure Your signs,

نُورُكَ الْمُتَأَلِّقُ،

nuruka almutalliqu

(He is) Your glowing Light

وَضِيَاؤُكَ الْمُشْرِقُ،

wa diau´uka almushriqu

and Your bring splendor

وَالْعَلَمُ النُّورُ فِي طَخْيَاءِ الدَّيْجُورِ،

wal-`alamu alnnuru fi takhya‘i alddayjuri

and the luminous sign in the obscurity of darkness

الْغَائِبُ الْمَسْتُورُ

algha’ibu almasturu

and the absent and the concealed,

جَلَّ مَوْلِدُهُ، وَكَرُمَ مَحْتِدُهُ،

jalla mawliduhu wa karuma mahtiduhu

Lofty is his birth and noble is his lineage

وَالْمَلائِكَةُ شُهَّدُهُ،

wal-mala’ikatu shuhhaduhu

and the angels are his witnesses

وَاللّهُ نَاصِرُهُ وَمُؤَيِّدُهُ،

wallahu nasiruhu wa mu´ayyduhu

and Allah is his Supporter and Backer

إذَا آنَ مِيعَادُهُ وَالْمَلائِكَةُ أَمْدَادُهُ،

idha ana mi`aduhu wal-mala’ikatu amdaduhu

when his time comes and the angels shall be his sponsors;

سَيْفُ اللّهِ الَّذِي لا يَنْبُو،

sayfu allahi alladhy la yanbu

(He shall act as) the sword of Allah that shall never miss the target,

وَنُورُهُ الَّذِي لا يَخْبُو،

wa nuruhu alladhy la yakhbu

and His light that shall never be extinguished

وَذُو الْحِلْمِ الَّذِي لا يَصْبُو،

wa dhu alhilmi alladhy la yasbu

And the forbearing person who shall never deviate the truth.

مَدَارُ الدَّهْرِ،

madaru alddhri

and the motive and reason of the course of events,

وَنَوَامِيسُ الْعَصْرِ،

wa nawamisu al`asri

and the one for whom the laws of ages have been made

وَوُلاةُ الأَمْرِ،

wa wulatu alamri

and (one of) the men of authority

وَالْمُنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا يَتَنَزَّلُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ،

wal-munazzalu `alayhim ma yatanazzalu fi laylati alqadri

who receive that which is revealed on the Grand Night.

وَأَصْحَابُ الْحَشْرِ وَالنَّشْرِ،

wa ashabu alhashri wal-nnashri

and the managers of the Resurrection and the Account;

تَرَاجِمَةُ وَحْيِهِ،

tarajimatu wahyihi

(They are) the interpreters of His revelations

وَوُلاةُ أَمْرِهِ وَنَهْيِهِ.

wa wulatu amrihi wa nahiihi

and in charge of what is deemed lawful and what is deemed unlawful by Him.

اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَى خَاتِمِهِمْ وَقَائِمِهِمُ

allahumma fasalli `ala khatimihim wa qa’imihim

O Allah: send blessings on their seal and their Riser

الْمَسْتُورِ عَنْ عَوَالِمِهِمْ.

almasturi `an `awalimihim

whom is hidden from their world.

اللّهُمَّ وَأَدْرِكْ بِنَا أَيَّامَهُ

allahumma wa adrik bina ayyamahu

O Allah: (please) make us causes for the coming of him,

وَظُهُورَهُ وَقِيَامَهُ،

wa zuhurahu wa qiyamahu

and causes for his advent and reappearance

وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَنْصَارِهِ،

waj`alna min ansarihi

and (please) include us with his supporters

وَاقْرِنْ ثأْرَنَا بِثَأْرِهِ،

waqrin tha’rana bitha’rihi

and join our vengeance to his

وَاكْتُبْنَا فِي أَعْوَانِهِ وَخُلَصَائِهِ،

waktubna fi a`wanihi wa khulasa’ihi

and decide us to be among his assistants and retinue.

وَأَحْيِنَا فِي دَوْلَتِهِ نَاعِمِينَ،

wa ahiina fi dawlatihi na`imina

and make us live in bliss in his reign,

وَبِصُحْبَتِهِ غَانِمِينَ،

wa bisuhbatihi ghanimina

and make us win the ecstasy of his companionship,

وَبِحَقِّهِ قَائِمِينَ،

wa bihaqqhi qa’imina

and make us of those who carry out our duty toward him,

وَمِنَ السُّوءِ سَالِمِينَ،

wa mina alssu‘I salimina

and save us from evil.

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ،

ya arhama alrrahimina

O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

walhamdu lillahi rabbi al`alamina

All praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

وَصَلَوَاتُهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

wa salawatuhu `ala sayydina muhammadin

His blessings be upon our master, Muhammad

خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ

khatami alnnabiyyina wal-mursalina

the seal of the Prophets and the Messengers,

وَعَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الصَّادِقِينَ

wa `ala ahli baytihi alssadiqina

and upon his Household, the veracious,

وَعِتْرَتِهِ النَّاطِقِينَ،

wa `itratihi alnnatiqina

and his offspring, the spokespersons of the truth,

وَالْعَنْ جَمِيعَ الظَّالِمِينَ،

wal-`an jami`a alzzalimina

and curse all the wrongdoers

وَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ

wahkum baynana wa baynahum

and judge between them and us

يَا أَحْكَمَ الْحَاكِمِينَ.

ya ahkama alhakimina

O the Most Just of all judges.

اللّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

allahumma anta alhayyu alqayyumu

O Allah: You are verily the Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting,

الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

al`aliyyu al`azimu

the Most High, the All-great,

الْخَالِقُ الرَّازِقُ

alkhaliqu alrraziqu

the Creator, the Sustainer,

الْمُحْيِي الْمُمِيتُ

almuhiy almumitu

the Giver of live, the Causer of death,

الْبَدِيءُ الْبَدِيعُ،

albadi‘u albadi`u

the Originator, the Maker.

لَكَ الْجَلالُ،

laka aljalalu

To You is the Majesty

وَلَكَ الْفَضْلُ،

wa laka alfadlu

and to You is the favor,

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ،

wa laka alhamdu

and to You is all praise,

وَلَكَ الْمَنُّ،

wa laka almann

and to You is thanks,

وَلَكَ الْجُودُ،

wa laka aljudu

and to You is magnanimity,

وَلَكَ الْكَرَمُ،

wa laka alkaramu

and to You is generosity,

وَلَكَ الأَمْرُ،

wa laka alamru

and to You do belong all affairs,

وَلَكَ الْمَجْدُ،

wa laka almajdu

and to You is glory,

وَلَكَ الشُّكْرُ،

wa laka alshshkru

and to You is gratitude;

وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ،

wa hdaka la sharika laka

You are alone without having any partner with You.

يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَدُ

ya wahidu ya ahadu ya samadu

O the One: O the Absolute: O the Besought of all:

يَا مَنْ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

ya man lam yalid wa lam yulad

O He Who neither begets nor is He begotten,

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ،

wa lam yakun lahu kufwan ahadun

and there is none like to Him.

صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

(please do) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَاغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي

waghfir li warhamny

and forgive me; and have mercy upon me;

وَاكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي

wakfiny ma ahammany

and relieve me from whatever has aggrieved me;

وَاقْضِ دَيْنِي،

waqdi dayni

and help me settle my debt;

وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ فِي رِزْقِي،

wa wassi` `alayy fi rizqi

and expand my provisions;

فَإنَّكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ كُلَّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ تَفْرُقُ،

fa’innaka fi hadhihi allaylati kull amrin hakimin tafruqu

for You, at this night, make distinct all affairs of wisdom;

وَمَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ تَرْزُقُ،

wa man tasha‘u min khalqika tarzuqu

and You grant sustenance to whomever You wish among Your creatures.

فَارْزُقْنِي وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ،

farzuqny wa anta khayru alrraziqina

So, (please do) grant me sustenance and You are verily the Best of sustainers.

فَإنَّكَ قُلْتَ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْقَائِلِينَ النَّاطِقِينَ:

fa’innaka qulta wa anta khayru alqa’ilina alnnatiqina:

You have said—and You are the Best of those who speak and utter—

(وَاسْأَلُوَا اللّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ)

“was-alu allaha min fadlihi”

“Ask Allah of His bounty.”

فَمِنْ فَضْلِكَ أَسْأَلُ،

famin fadlika as-alu

I thus ask You of Your bounty;

وَإيَّاكَ قَصَدْتُ،

wa ‘iyyaka qasadtu

and to You do I turn my face;

وَابْنَ نَبِيِّكَ اعْتَمَدْتُ،

wabna nabiyyka a`tamadtu

and the intercession of Your Prophet’s son do I seek;

وَلَكَ رَجَوْتُ،

wa laka rajawtu

and for You do I hope.

فَارْحَمْنِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

farhamny ya arhama alrrahimina

So, (please do) have mercy upon me; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اللّهُمَّ اقْسِمْ لَنَا مِنْ خَشْيَتِكَ

allahumma aqsim lana min khashiyatika

O Allah: (please do) grant us an amount of fearfulness of You

مَا يَحُولُ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ مَعْصِيَتِكَ،

ma yahulu baynana wa bayna ma`siyatika

that prevents us from committing acts of disobedience to You;

وَمِنْ طَاعَتِكَ مَا تُبَلِّغُنَا بِهِ رِضْوَانَكَ،

wa min ta`atika ma tuballghuna bihi ridwanaka

and an amount of obedience to You that makes us attain Your satisfaction;

وَمِنَ الْيَقِينِ مَا يَهُونُ عَلَيْنَا بِهِ مُصِيبَاتُ الدُّنْيَا.

wa mina aliyaqini ma yahunu `alayna bihi musibatu alddunya

and an amount of conviction that help us tolerate the vicissitudes of this worldly life.

اللّهُمَّ أَمْتِعْنَا بِأَسْمَاعِنَا وَأَبْصَارِنَا وَقُوَّتِنَا

allahumma amti`na biasma`ina wa absarina wa quwwatina

O Allah: (please do) make us enjoy our hearings, sights, and powers

مَا أَحْيَيْتَنَا وَاجْعَلْهُ الْوَارِثَ مِنَّا،

ma ahiyaytana waj`alhu alwaritha minna

so long as You decide to keep us alive; and (please do) make it the inheritor of us.

وَاجْعَلْ ثأْرَنَا عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَنَا،

waj`al tharana `ala man zalamana

And (please do) make us avenge ourselves against them who wrong us;

وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى مَنْ عَادَانَا،

wansurna `ala man `adana

and back us against them who antagonize us;

وَلا تَجْعَلْ مُصِيبَتَنَا فِي دِينِنَا،

wa la taj`al musibatana fi dinina

and do not suffer misfortunes in affairs of our religion;

وَلا تَجْعَلِ الدُّنْيَا أَكْبَرَ هَمِّنَا وَلا مَبْلَغَ عِلْمِنَا،

wa la taj`ali alddunya akbara hammna wa la mablagha `ilmina

and do not make our worldly affairs happen to be our greatest concern or our utmost knowledge;

وَلا تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيْنَا مَنْ لا يَرْحَمُنَا،

wa la tusallt `alayna man la yarhamuna

and do not set him who does not have mercy upon us, as master over us;

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

birahmatika yarhama alrrahimina

in the name of Your mercy; O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

This supplication is advisably recited immediately after the accomplishment of the Tahajjud / Shab /Layl Salaat at the last hours of night.

إلهِي تَعَرَّضَ لَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ الْمُتَعَرِّضُونَ،

ilahy ta`arrada laka fi hadha allayli almuta`arriduna

O Allah: tonight the seekers of favors, restless and eager, present themselves to You;

وَقَصَدَكَ الْقَاصِدُونَ،

wa qasadaka alqasiduna

the determined aspirers have You in mind;

وَأَمَّلَ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ الطَّالِبُونَ،

wa ammla fadlaka wa ma`rufaka alttalibuna

those who make requests look long and attentively at Your obligingness and kindness;

وَلَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ نَفَحَاتٌ وَجَوَائِزُ

wa laka fi hadha allayli nafahatun wa jawa’izu

You, in this night, give gifts, bounties beyond measure,

وَعَطَايَا وَمَوَاهِبُ

wa `ataya wa mawahibu

free donations, and favors,

تَمُنُّ بِهَا عَلَى مَنْ تَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ،

tamunnu biha `ala man tasha‘u min `ibadika

to those whom You will from among Your servants when they make a request,

وَتَمْنَعُهَا مَنْ لَمْ تَسْبِقْ لَهُ الْعِنَايَةُ مِنْكَ،

wa tamna`uha man lam tasbiq lahu al`inaiyatu minka

and say no to those who do not try to get in advance (remain behind) for obtaining the bounties from You.

وَهَا أَنَا ذَا عُبَيْدُكَ الْفَقِيرُ إلَيْكَ

wa ha ana dha `ubayduka alfaqiru ilayka

I, a modest needy bondman,

الْمُؤَمِّلُ فَضْلَكَ وَمَعْرُوفَكَ،

almu´ammilu fadlaka wa ma`rufaka

am hopeful of Your obligingness and kindness.

فَإنْ كُنْتَ يَا مَوْلايَ تَفَضَّلْتَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

fain kunta ya mawlaiya tafaddalta fi hadhihi allaylati `ala ahadin min khalqika

Indeed if You, O My Master, bestows a favor on any one, in this night, from among Your created beings,

وَعُدْتَ عَلَيْهِ بِعَائِدَةٍ مِنْ عَطْفِكَ

wa `udta `alayhi bi`a’idatin min `atfika

and multiply profits and gains for him out of love and affection,

فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

please send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad:

الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْخَيِّرِينَ الْفَاضِلِينَ،

alttiyyibina alttahirina alkhayyrina alfadilina

the pure, the immaculate, the virtuous, and the righteous;

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِطَوْلِكَ وَمَعْرُوفِكَ

wa jud `alayya bitawlika wa ma`rufika

and then let me have enough and be contented on account of Your liberality and obligingness,

يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

ya rabba al`alamina

O Lord of the worlds!

وَصَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ

wa salla allahu `ala muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyina

May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets,

وَآلِهِ الطَّاهِرِينَ

wa alihi alttahirina

and upon his Household, the immaculate,

وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً

wa sallama tasliman

and may He exalt them very much.

إنَّ اللّهَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ.

inn allaha hamidun majidun

verily, Allah is worthy of all praise, full of all glory.

اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَدْعُوكَ كَمَا أَمَرْتَ

allahumma inni ad`uka kama amarta

O Allah: I am praying You as You ordered me to do,

فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَمَا وَعَدْتَ

fastajib li kama wa`adta

So, (please) respond to me as You promised.

إنَّكَ لا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ.

innaka la tukhlifu almi`ada

verily, You never break Your promise.

The Holy Prophet (sawa) used to recite the following in Sajdah tonight after the Shab / Tahajjud prayers:
It can also be recited tonight after praying a 10 Raka’t Namaaz in 5 sets of 2 Raka’t each;
in each Raka’t recite
Soorah Al Faatih’ah once, and
Soorah Al Ikhlaas 10 times]
It is recommended to do the prostrations and say the supplications that are reported from the Holy Prophet (a.s).

سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادِي وَخَيَالِي،

sajada laka sawady wa khayali

Prostrating before You are my body and my shadow

وَآمَنَ بِكَ فُؤَادِي،

wa amana bika fu´adi

and my heart is in full faith of You

هذِهِ يَدَايَ وَمَا جَنَيْتُهُ عَلَى نَفْسِي،

hadhihi yadaiya wa ma janaytuhu `ala nafsi

These are my two hands and this is what I have committed against myself,

يَا عَظِيمُ تُرْجَى لِكُلِّ عَظِيمٍ

ya `azimu turja likulli `azimin

O the All-great: You are hoped for all enormous things;

اغْفِرْ لِيَ الْعَظِيمَ

aghfir liya al`azima

Please, forgive me my serious offences

فَإنَّهُ لا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ الْعَظِيمَ إلاَّ الرَّبُّ الْعَظِيمُ.

fa’innhu la yaghfiru aldhdhanba al`azima illa alrrabbu al`azimu

because none can forgive the serious sin except the All-great Lord.

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then raised his head and then prostrated himself again, saying:

أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَضَاءَتْ لَهُ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأَرَضُونَ،

a`udhu binuri wa jhika alladhy ada‘at lahu alssamawatu wal-araduna

I seek the protection of the light of Your Face that has lit the heavens and the earth

وَانْكَشَفَتْ لَهُ الظُّلُمَاتُ،

wankashafat lahu alzzulumatu

and has removed all darkness

وَصَلَحَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُ الأَوَّلِينَ وَالآخِرِينَ

wa salaha `alayhi amru al-awwalina wal-akhirina

and has made active all the affairs of the past and the coming generations

مِنْ فُجْأَةِ نَقِمَتِكَ،

min fuj-ati naqimatika

against Your sudden chastisement

وَمِنْ تَحْوِيلِ عَافِيَتِكَ،

wa min tahwili `afiyatika

and against withdrawing the good health that You have granted me

وَمِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ.

wa min zawal-i ni`matika

and against the vanishing of Your bounties.

اللّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي قَلْباً تَقِيّاً نَقِيّاً

allahumma arzuqny qalban taqiyyan naqiyyan

O Allah: (please) grant me a heart that is pious and pure,

وَمِنَ الشِّرْكِ بَرِيئاً

wa mina alshshirki bari’an

and is released from polytheism,

لا كَافِراً وَلا شَقِيّاً.

la kafiran wa la shaqiyyan

and is neither atheist nor unhappy.

The Holy Prophet (a.s) then attached his face to the ground and said:

عَفَّرْتُ وَجْهِي فِي التُّرَابِ

`affartu wajhy fi altturabi

I am putting my face on the ground

وَحُقَّ لِي أَنْ أَسْجُدَ لَكَ

wa huqqa li an asjuda laka

and it is my duty to prostrate myself before You

Holy Prophet (a.s) then said, “Do you know what this night is? This is the night of the half of Sha`ban. At this night, shares of provisions are distributed, ages are decided, and the pilgrims are appointed. Verily, Almighty Allah, at this night, forgives as many of His creatures as the hairs of the goats of Kalb Tribe. Almighty Allah also orders angels to descend to the earth, to Makkah, at this night.”
Munaja'at Sha'abaniyah
Ibn Khalawayh narrates who commented on it, saying, “This is the confidential prayer of Imam `Ali Amir al-Mu'minin and the Holy Imams (peace be upon them) who used to recite it in the month of Shaban.” It is advisable to recite it with presence of heart all the time.
