85. His supplication for ‘seeking the best’ (Istekhara)
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ.
Bismil Laahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Maa Shaaa-Al Laaho Kaana.
Whatever Allah wills, happens.
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْتَخِیْرُکَ خِیَارَ مَنْ فَوَّضَ اِلَیْکَ اَمْرَہٗ
Allaahumma Innee Astakheeroka Kheyaara Man Fawwaza Elayka Amrahu
O Allah! I seek goodness from You like a person who has put his affairs in Your hands,
وَ اَسْلَمَ اِلَیْکَ نَفْسَہٗ وَ اسْتَسْلَمَ اِلَیْکَ فِیْ اَمْرِہٖ
Wa Aslama Elayka Nafsahu Was Taslama Elayka Fee Amrehi
put his soul in Your control, and awaits Your order in his affairs, has turned to You,
وَ خَلَالَکَ وَجْہَہٗ وَ تَوَکَّلْ عَلَیْکَ فِیْمَا نَزَلَ بِہٖ.
We Khelaalaka Wajhahu Wa Tawakkal A’layka Feemaa Nazala Behi.
and when calamities befall he has relied on You.
اَللّٰہُمَّ خِرْ لِیْ وَ لَا تَخِرْ عَلَیَّ وَ کُنْ لِیْ وَ لَا تَکُنْ عَلَیَّ
Allaahumma Khir Lee Wa Laa Takhir A’layya Wa Kun Lee Wa Laa Takun A’layya
O Allah! Let goodness be in my affair and not against me, for my benefit, not for my loss,
وَ انْصُرْنِیْ وَ لَا تَنْصُرْ عَلَیَّ
Wan Surnee Wa Laa Tansur A’layya
grant me help and let not this help be against me.
وَ اَعِنِّیْ وَ لَا تُعِنْ عَلَیَّ
Wa A-I’nnee Wa Laa To-I’n A’layya
My help must be in my favour and not against me.
وَ اَمْکِنِّیْ وَ لَا تُمَکِّنْ عَلَیَّ
Wa Amkinnee Wa Laa Tomakkin A’layya
Make me strong and do not let others overpower me.
وَ اَہْدِنِیْ اِلَی الْخَیْرِ وَ لَا تُضَلِّنِیْ وَ اَرْضِنِیْ بِقَضَآئِکَ وَ بَارِکْ فِیْ قَدَرِکَ
Wa Ahdenee Elal Khayre Wa Laa Tozallenee Wa Arzenee Be-Qazaaa-Eka Wa Baarik Fee Qadareka
Guide me towards goodness, save me from deviation, make me agreeable on Your judgment and satisfied on Your power
اِنَّکَ تَفْعَلُ مَا تَشَآءُ وَ تَحْکُمُ مَا تُرِیْدُ وَ اَنْتَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ.
Innaka Taf-A’lo Maa Tashaaa-O Wa Tahkomo Maa Toreedo Wa Anta A’laa Kulle Shay-In Qadeer.
because whatever You wish is done and You have Power over all things.
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنْ کَانَ لِیَ الْخِیَرَۃُ فِیْ اَمْرِیْ ہٰذَا فِیْ دِیْنِیْ وَ دُنْیَایَ وَ عَاقِبَۃِ اَمْرِیْ فَسَہِّلْہُ لِیْ
Allaahumma In Kaana Leyal Khayrato Fee Amree Haazaa Fee Deenee Wa Dunyaaya Wa A’aqebate Amree Fasahhilho Lee
O Allah! If this transaction is good for me and if it carries goodness for me in this world and the Hereafter make it easy for me,
وَ اِنْ کَانَ غَیْرَ ذٰلِکَ فَاصْرِفْہُ عَنِّیْ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ.
Wa In Kaana Ghayra Zaaleka Fas-Rifho A’nnee Yaa Arhamar Raahemeen.
and if there is anything other than it, make it away for me. O Most Merciful of all the mercifuls.
اِنَّکَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ وَ حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَ نِعْمَ الْوَکِیْلُ.
Innaka A’laa Kulle Shay-In Qadeerun Wa Hasbonal Laaho Wa Ne’mal Wakeelo.
Surely You have power over all the things and Allah is sufficient for us and most excellent is the protector.
