Supplication 149- Day 26 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammad,
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad;
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ يا رَبَّ السَّماواتِ السَّبْعِ
wa asaloka yaa rabbas samaawaatis sab-e’
I ask You, O Lord of the seven heavens
وَ الْاَرَضينَ السَّبْعِ وَ ما فيهِنَّ وَ ما بَيْنَهُنَّ
wal arazeenas sab-e’, wa maa feehinna wa maa baynahunna,
and seven earths and what is in them and what is between them,
وَ رَبَّ السَّبْعِ الْمَثاني وَ الْقُرْانِ الْعَظيمِ
wa rabbas sab-i’l masaanee wal quraanil a’zeem,
Lord of the "...seven oft-repeated (verses) and the mighty Qur’an” (15:87)
وَ رَبَّ جِبْرَئيلَ وَ ميكائيلَ وَ اِسْرافيلَ
wa rabba jabra-eela wa meekaaeela wa israafeela
Lord of Jibra’il, Mika’il, Israfil
وَ رَبَّ الْمَلائِكَةِ اَجْمَعينَ
wa rabbal malaa-ekate ajmae’ena,
and Lord of all the angels,
وَ رَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ
wa rabba mohammadin sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehi
Lord of Muhammad, blessings of Allah on him and his family,
خاتَمِ النَّبِيّينَ وَ الْمُرْسَلينَ
khaatamin nabiyyeena wal mursaleena
seal of the Prophets and Messengers,
وَ رَبَّ الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعينَ
wa rabbal khalqe ajma-e’en.
and Lord of all creation;
اَ سْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي
asalokal laahumma bismekal lazee
I ask You, O Allah, by Your Name by which
تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّماواتُ وَ تَقُومُ بِهِ الْاَرَضُونَ
taqoomo behis samaawaato, wa taqoomo behil arazoona,
the heavens are upheld and by which the earths are upheld,
وَ بِهِ اَحْصَيْتَ كَيْلَ الْبِحارِ وَ زِنَةَ الْجِبالِ
wa behi ahsayta kaylal behaare, wa zenatal jebaale,
by which You reckon the measure of the seas and the weight of the mountains,
وَ بِهِ تُميتُ الْاَحْياءَ وَ بِهِ تُحْيِي الْمَوْتى
wa behi tomeetul ahyaa-a, wa behi tohyil mawtaa,
by which You cause the living to die and by which You cause the dead to rise,
وَ بِهِ تُنْشِى ءُ السَّحابَ وَ تُرْسِلَ الرّيحَ
wa behi tunshe-us sahaaba, wa turselar reyaaha,
by which You raise up the clouds and send forth the wind,
وَ بِهِ تَرْزُقُ الْعِبادَ، وَ بِهِ اَحْصَيْتَ عَدَدَ الرِّمالِ
wa behi tarzoqul e’baada, wa behi ahsayto a’dadar remaale,
by which You provide for mankind and by which You reckon the number of tracts of sand,
وَ بِهِ تَفْعَلُ ما تَشاءُ
wa behi tafa’lo maa tashaa-o,
by which You do what You will
وَ بِهِ تَقُولُ لِلشَّيْ ءِ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ
wa behi taqoolo lishshay-e kun fayakoono
and by which You say to a thing “...‘Be!’ and it is.’’ (2:117)
اَنْ تَسُدَّ فَقْري بِغِناكَ
an tosaddeda faqree be-ghenaaka,
to meet my need with Your sufficiency,
وَ اَنْ تَسْتَجيبَ لي دُعائي
wa an tastajeeba lee do-a’aee,
to answer my prayer
وَ تُعْطِيَني سُؤْلي وَ مُناىَ
wa to’teyanee soalee wa monaaya
and grant me my request and desire,
وَ اَنْ تَجْعَلَ فَرَجي مِنْ عِنْدِكَ
wa an taj-a’la farajee min i’ndeka
and to give me relief from You,
وَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ في عافِيَةٍ وَ اَنْ تُؤْمِنَ خَوْفي
be-rahmateka fee a’afeyatin, wa an toamena khawfee,
by Your Mercy, in soundness, to make me secure from my fear
وَ اَنْ تُحْيِيَني في اَتَمِّ النِّعَمِ وَ اَعْظَمِ الْعافِيَةِ
wa an tohyeyanee fee atammin ne-a’me, wa aa’zamil a’afeyate,
and make me live among the most complete blessings and in the greatest soundness,
وَ اَفْضَلِ الرِّزْقِ وَ السَّعَةِ وَ الدَّعَةِ
wa afzalir rizqe, was saa’te wad da-a’te,
the most excellent provision and in ease and plenty,
وَ تَرْزُقَنِي الشُّكْرَ عَلى ما اتَيْتَني
wa tarzoqanish shukra a’laa maa aataytanee.
to grant me gratitude for what You have bestowed on me
وَ صِلْ ذلِكَ لي تامّاً اَبَداً ما اَبْقَيْتَني
wa sil zaaleka lee taamman abadan maa abqaytanee,
and make that come to me completely, forever, as long as I live,
حَتَّى تَصِلَ ذلِكَ بِنَعيمِ الْاخِرَةِ
hattaa tasela zaaleka be-nae’emil aakherah.
until that links up with the blessings of the Hereafter.
اَللَّهُمَّ بِيَدِكَ مَقاديرُ الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
allaahumma be-yadeka maqaadeerud dunyaa wal aakherate,
O Allah, in Your Hand are the decrees of this world and the Hereafter,
وَ اللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهارِ وَ الْمَوْتِ وَ الْحَياةِ
wal layle wan nahaare, wal mawte wal hayaate
of the night and the day, of death and life;
وَ بِيَدِكَ مَقاديرُ النَّصْرِ وَ الْخِذْلانِ
wa beyadeka maqaadeerun nasre wal khizlaane,
in Your Hand are the decrees of victory and failure,
wal khayre wash sharre.
of good and evil.
اَللَّهُمَّ بارِكْ لي في دينِيَ الَّذي هُوَ مِلاكُ اَمْري
allaahumma baarik lee fee deeneyal lazee howa melaako amree,
O Allah, bless me in my religion which is the foundation of my affair,
وَ دُنْياىَ الَّتي فيها مَعيشَتي
wa dunyaayal latee feehaa ma-e’eshatee,
My world in which is my livelihood
وَ اخِرَتِيَ الَّتي اِلَيْها مُنْقَلَبي
wa aakherateyal latee elayhaa munqalabee,
and my Hereafter to which is my return;
وَ بارِكْ لي في جَميعِ اُمُورى
wa baarik lee fee jamee-e’ omooree.
and bless me in all my affairs.
اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ اللهُ الَّذي لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma antal laaho laa elaaha illaa anta,
O Allah, You are Allah, there is no god but You.
وَعْدُكَ حَقٌّ وَ لِقاءُكَ حَقٌّ
wa’doka haqqun, wa leqaa-oka haqqun,
Your promise is true and meeting You is true.
اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ الْمَحْيا وَ الْمَماتِ
ao’ozo beka min sharril mahyaa wal mamaate,
I take refuge in You from the evil of the living and the dead,
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ مَكارِهِ الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
wa a-o’ozo beka min makaarehid dunyaa wal aakherate,
I seek refuge with You from the abhorrent affairs of the world and those of the Hereafter
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ
wa ao’ozo beka min fitnatid dajjaale,
I take refuge in You from the temptation of the Dajjal,
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّكِّ وَ الْفُجُورِ
wa a-o’ozo beka menash shakke wal fojoore
I take refuge in You from doubt, immorality,
وَ الْكَسَلِ وَ الْعَجْزِ
wal kasale wal a’jze,
indolence and incapacity;
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ وَ السَّرَفِ
wa ao’ozo beka menal bukhle was sarafe.
I take refuge in You from niggardliness and extravagance.
اَللَّهُمَّ قَدْ سَبَقَ مِنّي
allaahumma qad sabaqa minnee
O Allah, there has proceeded from me
ما قَدْ سَبَقَ مِنْ قَديمِ ما كَسَبْتُ
maa qad sabaqa min qadeeme maa kasabto,
in the past that which I have earned
وَ جَنَيْتُ بِهِ عَلى نَفْسي
wa janayto behi a’laa nafsee.
and committed against myself,
وَ اَنْتَ يا رَبِّ تَمْلِكُ مِنّي ما لااَمْلِكُ مِنْها
wa anta yaa rabbe tamleko minnee maa laa amleko minhaa,
and You, my Lord, have command of me in what I do not.
خَلَقْتَني يا رَبِّ وَ تَفَرَّدْتَ بِخَلْقي
khalaqtanee yaa rabbe wa tafarradta bekhalqee,
You created me, my Lord, and were alone, independent in my creation
وَ لَمْ اَكُ شَيْئاً وَ لَسْتُ بِشَيْ ءٍ اِلاَّ بِكَ
wa lam ako shay-an illaa beka,
And I was nothing, except through You.
وَ لَيْسَ الْخَيْرُ اِلاَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ
wa laysal khayro illaa min i’ndeka,
Good is only from You,
وَ لَمْ اَصْرِفْ عَنّي سُوءً قَطُّ
wa lam asrif a’nnee soo-an qatto
and evil was never averted from me
اِلاَّ ما صَرَفْتَهُ عَنّي
illaa maa saraftahu a’nnee.
except that which You turned away from me.
وَ اَنْتَ عَلَّمْتَني يا رَبِّ ما لَمْ اَعْلَمْ
wa anta a’llamtanee yaa rabbe maa lam a-a’lam,
You taught me, my Lord, what I did not know,
وَ رَزَقْتَني يا رَبِّ ما لَمْ اَمْلِكْ وَ لَمْ اَحْتَسِبْ
wa razaqtanee yaa rabbe maa lam amleko wa lam ahtaseb,
You provided me, my Lord, what I do not possess and did not reckon,
وَ بَلَّغْتَني يا رَبِّ ما لَمْ اَكُنْ اَرْجُو
wa ballaghtanee yaa rabbe maa lam akun arjoo,
You brought to me, my Lord, what I had not hoped for,
وَ اَعْطَيْتَني يا رَبِّ ما قَصُرَ عَنْهُ اَمَلي
wa a-a’taytanee yaa rabbe maa qasora a’nho amalee,
and You gave me, my Lord, what my hopes fell short of,
falakal hamdo kaseeran
therefore to You belongs Praise, in abundance.
يا غافِرَ الذَّنْبِ اِغْفِرْلي
yaa ghaaferaz zanbigh fir lee,
O Forgiver of Sins, forgive me
وَ اَعْطِني في قَلْبي مِنَ الرِّضا
wa a-a’tenee fee qalbee menar rezaa
and grant me in my heart contentment,
ما تُهَوِّنُ بِهِ عَلَيَّ بَوائِقَ الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
maa tohawweno behi a’layya bawaa-equd dunyaa.
which will make light for me the misfortunes of this world and the next.
اَللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لي يا رَبِّ الْبابَ الَّذي
allaahummaf tah lee yaa rabbil baabal lazee
O Allah, open for me, O Lord, the door in which
فيهِ الْفَرَجُ وَ الْعافِيَةُ وَ الْخَيْرُ كُلُّهُ
feehil farajo wal a’afeyato wal khayro kullohaa.
is relief, well-being and good, all of it.
اَللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لي بابَهُ
allaahummaf tah lee baabohu,
O Allah, open for me its door
وَ اهْدِني سَبيلَهُ وَ اَبِنْ لي مَخْرَجَهُ
wah denee sabeelahu, wa abin lee makhrajahu.
and guide me to its path and build for me its way out.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ كُلُّ مَنْ قَدَّرْتَ لَهُ عَلَيَّ مَقْدِرَةً
allaahumma wa kullo man qaddarta lahu a’layya maqdoratan
O Allah, whomsoever You have empowered over me
مِنْ عِبادِكَ وَ مَلَّكْتَهُ شَيْئاً مِنْ اُمُوري
min e’baadeka, wa mallaktahu shay-an min omooree,
among Your servants and given authority over something of my affairs,
فَخُذْ عَنّي بِقُلُوبِهِمْ وَ اَلْسِنَتِهِمْ
fakhuz a’nnee be-qoloobehim wa alsenatehim
Seize away from me their hearts, their tongues,
وَ اَسْماعِهِمْ وَ اَبْصارِهِمْ
wa asmaa-e’him wa absaarehi,
their hearing and their sight,
وَ مِنْ بَيْنِ اَيْديهِمْ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ
wa min bayne aydeehim, wa min khalfehim,
before them, behind them,
وَ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَ مِنْ تَحْتِ اَرْجُلِهِمْ
wa min fawqehim, wa min tahte arjolehim,
above them and below them,
وَ عَنْ اَيْمانِهِمْ وَ عَنْ شَمائِلِهِمْ
wa a’n aymaanehim wa a’n shamaa-elehim,
from their right and their left,
وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتَ وَ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ
wa min hayso sheata, kayfa sheata,
From wherever You wish, however You wish
وَ اَنَّى شِئْتَ حَتَّى لايَصِلَ اِلَيَّ اَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ بِسُوءٍ
wa annaa sheata, hattaa laa yasela elayya ahadun minhum be-soo-in.
and whenever You wish, so that none of them reach me with evil.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني في حِفْظِكَ وَ جِوارِكَ
allaahummaj a’l nee fee hifzeka wa jewaareka,
O Allah, put me in Your protection and Your safeguard.
عَزَّ جارُكَ وَ جَلَّ ثَناؤُكَ وَ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
a’zza jaaroka, wa jalla sanaaoka, laa elaaha illaa anta
Invincible is Your protection and Majestic is Your Praise and there is no god but You.
اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ السَّلامُ وَ مِنْكَ السَّلامُ
allaahumma antas salaamo, wa minkas salaamo,
You are the Security and from You is the security.
اَسْأَلُكَ يا ذَاالْجَلالِ وَ الْاِكْرامِ
asaloka yaa zal jalaale wal ikraame
I ask You, “...Possessor of Majesty and Honour” (55:78)
فَكاكَ رَقَبَتي مِنَ النَّارِ
fakaaka raqabatee menan naare,
To release me from the Fire
وَ اَنْ تُسْكِنَني دارَكَ دارَ السَّلامِ
wa an tuskenanee daaraka daaras salaam.
and to make me dwell in Your abode, the “...abode of peace...” (10:25)
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ
allaahumma innee asaloka menal khayre kullehi
O Allah, I ask You of the good, all of it,
a’ajelehi wa aajelehi,
the immediate and the future,
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّرِّ كُلِّهِ عاجِلِهِ وَ اٰجِلِهِ
wa a-o’ozo beka menash sharre kullehi a’ajelehi wa aajelehi,
And I take refuge in You from evil, all of it, the immediate and the future,
ما عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ وَ ما لَمْ اَعْلَمْ
maa a’limto minho wa maa lam aa’lam,
that which I know of and that which I do not know.
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ ما اَدْعُو وَ ما لَمْ اَدْعُ
wa as-aloka menal khayre kullehi maa ad-o’o wa maa lam ad-o’,
I ask You of the good, all of it, that for which I pray, and that for which I do not pray,
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّرِّ كُلِّهِ
wa a-o’ozo beka menash sharre kullehi
and I take refuge in You from evil, all of it,
ما اَحْذَرُ مِنْهُ وَ ما لا اَحْذَرُ
maa ahzaro minho wa maa lam ahzaro,
what I fear from and what I do not fear.
وَاَسْأَلُكَ اَنْ تَرْزُقَني مِنْ حَيْثُ اَحْتَسِبُ
wa asaloka an tarzoqanee min hayso
I ask You to provide for me from where I reckon
وَ مِنْ حَيْثُ لااَحْتَسِبُ
ahtasebo wa min hayso laa ahtaseb.
and from where I reckon not.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي عَبْدُكَ وَ ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ
allaahumma innee a’bdoka wab no a’bdeka
O Allah, I am Your slave – the son of Your bondsman
وَ ابْنُ اَمَتِكَ وَ في قَبْضَتِكَ ناصِيَتي بِيَدِكَ
wab no amateka fee qabzateka, naaseyatee beyadeka,
and the son of Your bondswoman – in Your Grasp; my forelock is in Your Hand.
ماضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضاؤُكَ
maazin fiyya hukmoka, a’dlun fee qazaa-oka.
Accomplished in me is Your Judgement; Just concerning me is Your Decree...
اَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ
as-aloka bekulle ismin howa laka sammayta behi nafsaka,
I ask You by every Name that belongs to You, by which You have named Yourself
اَوْ اَنْزَلْتَهُ في شَيْ ءٍ مِنْ كُتُبِكَ
aw anzaltahu fee shay-in min kotobeka
or which You have revealed in any of Your Books
اَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ اَحَداً مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
aw a’llamtahu ahadan min khalqeka
or taught any of Your creatures
اَوِ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ في عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ
awis taasarta behi fee i’lmil ghaybe i’ndaka
or chosen exclusively for Yourself through Your knowledge of the unseen,
اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْاُمِّيِّ
an tosalleya a’laa mohammadenin nabiyil ummiyyee
to bless Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet,
عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ وَ خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
a’bdeka wa rasooleka wa kheyarateka min khalqeka
Your servant, Your Messenger and Your chosen one from among Your creatures,
وَ عَلى الِ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّيِّبينَ الْاَخْيارِ
wa a’laa aale mohammadenit tayyebeenal akhyaare,
and the family of Muhammad, the pure, the good,
وَ اَنْ تَرَحَّمَ مُحَمَّداً وَ الَ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa in tarhama mohammadan wa aala mohammadin,
to have mercy on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
وَ تُبارِكَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa tobaareka a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
and commend Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
كَما صَلَّيْتَ وَ بارَكْتَ وَ تَرَحَّمْتَ
kamaa sallayta wa baarakta wa tarahhamta
as You have blessed, commended and had mercy
عَلى اِبْراهيمَ وَ الِ اِبْراهيمَ
a’laa ibraaheema wa aale ibraaheema,
on Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim;
innaka hameedun majeedun,
“...Surely You are Praiseworthy, All-glorious” (11:73);
وَ اَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْانَ نُورَ صَدْري
wa an taj-a’lal quraana noora sadree
And to make the Qur’an a light in my breast,
وَ تُيَسِّرَ بِهِ اَمْري وَ تَشْرَحَ بِهِ صَدْرى
wa toyassera behi amree, wa tashraha behi sadree,
facilitate through it my affair, open through it my breast,
وَ تَجْعَلَهُ رَبيعَ قَلْبي، وَ جَلاءَ حُزْني
wa taja’lahu rabee-a’ qalbee, wa jalaa-a huznee,
Make it the ease of my heart, the dispeller of my grief,
وَ ذَهابَ هَمّي وَ غَمّي وَ نُوراً في مَطْعَمي
wa zehaaba hammee wa ghammee wa nooran fee mat-a’mee,
the remover of my anxiety and sadness; a light in my eating,
وَ نُوراً في مَشْرَبي وَ نُوراً في سَمْعي
wa nooran fee mashrabee, wa nooran fee sam-e’e,
a light in my drinking, a light in my hearing,
وَ نُوراً في بَصَري وَ نُوراً في مُخّي وَ عَظْمي
wa nooran fee basaree, wa nooran fee mukhkhee wa a’zmee
a light in my sight, a light in my brain, my bones,
وَ عَصَبي وَ شَعْري وَ بَشَري
wa a’sabee wa sha’ree wa basharee,
my sinews, My hair and my skin,
وَ اَمامي وَ فَوْقي وَ تَحْتي
wa amaamee wa fawqee wa tahtee,
before me, above me, below me,
وَ عَنْ يَميني وَ عَنْ شِمالي
wa a’n yameenee wa a’n shemaalee,
from my right and from my left;
وَ نُوراً في مَماتي وَ نُوراً في حَياتي
wa nooran fee mamaatee, wa nooran fee hayaatee,
a light in my death, an light in my life,
وَ نُوراً في قَبْري وَ نُوراً في حَشْري
wa nooran fee qabree, wa nooran fee hashree,
A light in my grave, a light in my resurrection
وَ نُوراً في كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ مِنّي حَتَّى تُبَلِّغَني بِهِ الْجَنَّةَ
wa nooran fee kulle shay-in minnee hattaa toballeghanee behil jannata,
and a light in everything of me until You make me attain the Garden
يا نُورَ السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ
yaa nooras samaawaate wal arze,
O Light of the heavens and the earth !
: اَنْتَ كَما وَصَفْتَ نَفْسَكَ بِقَوْلِكَ الْحَقِّ
anta kamaa wasafta nafsaka be-qawlekal haqqe :
You are as You have described Yourself by Your true saying :
اَللهُ نُورُ السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ
allaaho noorus samaawaate wal arz,
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth;
مَثَلُ نُورِهِ كَمِشْكاةٍ فيها مِصْباحٌ الْمِصْباحُ
masalo noorehi kamishkaatin feehaa misbaah,
the likeness of His Light is as a niche wherein is a lamp –
في زُجاجَةٍ الزُّجاجَةُ كَاَنَّها كَوْكَبٌ دُرِّىٌّ
almisbaaho fee zojaajah, az-zojaajato kaannahaa kawkabun durriyyuny
the lamp in a glass, the glass as it were a glittering star –
يُوقَدُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ مُبارَكَةٍ
yooqado min shajaratim mobaarakatin
lit from a Blessed Tree,
زَيْتُونَةٍ لا شَرْقِيَّةٍ وَ لا غَرْبِيَّةٍ
zaytoonatil laa sharqiyyatinw wa laa gharbiyyatiny,
an olive that is neither of the East nor of the West
يَكادُ زَيْتُها يُضى ءُ وَ لَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نارٌ
yakaado zaytohaa yozeee-o wa law lam tamsasho naar,
whose oil almost glows forth, even if no fire touched it;
نُورٌ عَلى نُورٍ يَهْدِي اللهُ لِنُورِهِ مَنْ يَشاءُ
noorun a’laa noor, yahdil laaho lenoorehi many yashaaa,
Light upon Light; Allah guides to His Light whom He will.
وَ يَضْرِبُ اللهُ الْاَمْثالَ لِلنَّاسِ
wa yazrebul laahul amsaala lin-naas,
And Allah sets forth parables for people,
وَ اللهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ عَليمٌ
wal laaho bekulle shay-in a’leem.
and Allah has knowledge of everything.” (24:35).
اَللَّهُمَّ اهْدِني بِنُورِكَ وَ اجْعَلْ لي فِي الْقِيامَةِ
allaahummah denee benooreka, waj a’l lee fil qeyaamate
O Allah, guide me by Your Light, and make for me on the Day of Judgement
نُوراً مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىَّ وَ مِنْ خَلْفي
nooran min bayne yadayya, wa min khalfee
a light before me and behind me,
وَ عَنْ يَميني وَ عَنْ شِمالي
wa a’n yameenee wa a’n shemaalee,
from my right and from my left,
اَهْتَدي بِهِ اِلى دارِ السَّلامِ
ahtadee behi elaa daaris salaame
by which I will be guided to the “...Abode of peace...” (10:25)
يا ذَاالْجَلالِ وَ الْاِكْرامِ
yaa zal jalaale wal ikraam.
O “...Possessor of Majesty and Honour” (55:78)
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ الْعافِيَةَ في نَفْسي
allaahumma innee asalokal a’afeyate fee nafsee
O Allah, I ask You for well-being in myself,
وَ اَهْلي وَ وَلَدي وَ مالي
wa ahlee wa waladee wa maalee,
my family, my children and my wealth,
وَ اَنْ تُلْبِسَني في ذلِكَ الْمَغْفِرَةَ وَ الْعافِيَةَ
wa an tulbesanee fee zaalekal maghferata wal a’afeyah.
and that You clothe me in that with forgiveness and well-being.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَ الْعافِيَةَ
allaahumma innee asalokal a’fwa wal a’afeyata
O Allah, I ask You pardon and well-being
فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
fid dunyaa wal aakherah.
in this world and the next.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammad,
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
وَ احْفَظْني مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىَّ وَ مِنْ خَلْفي
wah faznee min bayne yadayya wa min khalfee
And protect me from before me and behind me,
وَ عَنْ يَميني وَ عَنْ شِمالي
wa a’n yameenee wa a’n shemaalee,
From my right and my left,
وَ مِنْ فَوْقي وَ مِنْ تَحْتي
wa min fawqee wa min tahtee,
from above me and below me.
وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ اللَّهُمَّ مالِكَ الْمُلْكَ
wa a-o’ozo bekal laahumma maalekal mulka
I take refuge in You, “O Allah, Master of the Kingdom,
تُوْتِى الْمُلْكَ مَنْ تَشأُ
toatil mulka man tashaa-o,
You give the Kingdom to whom You will
وَ تَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشاءُ
wa tanze-u’l mulka mimmaan tashaa-o,
and take away the Kingdom from whom You will;
وَ تُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشاءُ وَ تُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشاءُ
wa to-i’zzo man tashaa-o, wa tozillo man tashaaolive o,
You exalt whom You will and You abase whom You will;
بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ اِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ قَديرٌ
beyadekal khayro, innaka a’laa kulle shay-in qadeer,
in Your Hand is the good, You are powerful over everything." (3:26)
تُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهارِ
toolejul layla fin nahaare,
"You cause the night to pass into the day
وَ تُولِجُ النَّهارَ فِي اللَّيْل
wa toolejun nahaara fil layle,
and You cause the day to pass into the night;
وَ تُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ
wa tukhrejul hayya menal mayyete
You bring forth the living from the dead
وَ تُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَىِّ
wa tukhrejul mayyeta menal hayye,
and You bring forth the dead from the living,
وَ تَرْزُقُ مَنْ تَشاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ
wa tarzoqo man tashaa-o be-ghayre hesaab,
and You give sustenance to whomsoever You will without measure.” (3:27)
يا رَحْمانَ الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ وَ رَحيمَهُما
yaa rahmaanad dunyaa wal aakherate wa raheemahomaa,
O All-merciful of this world and the Hereafter and its All-compassionate !
تُعْطي مِنْهُما مَنْ تَشاءُ
toatee minhomaa man tashaao,
You give among them whom You will
وَ تَمْنَعُ مِنْهُما مَنْ تَشاءُ
wa tamna-o’ minhomaa man tashaao,
and You deny among them whom You will;
صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
وَ ارْحَمْني وَ اقْضِ دَيْني وَ اغْفِرْلي ذَنْبي
war hamnee waq ze daynee, wagh fir lee zanbee,
and have mercy on me, discharge my debt, forgive me my sin
وَ اقْضِ حَوائِجي اِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ قَديرٌ
waq ze hawaa-ejee innaka a’laa kulle shay-in qadeer.
and fulfil my requests; “...Surely You are powerful over everything..." (3:26)
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ بِاَنَّكَ مَلِكٌ
allaahumma innee asaloka be-annaka malekun,
O Allah, I ask You for You are King,
وَ اَنَّكَ ما تَشاءُ مِنْ اَمْرٍ يَكُنْ
wa annaka maa tahsaa-o min amrin yakun.
and whatever You will of an affair happens.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ ايماناً صادِقاً
allaahumma innee as-aloka eemaanan saadeqan,
O Allah, I ask of You a true faith
وَ يَقيناً ثابِتاً لَيْسَ مَعَهُ شَكٌّ
wa yaqeenan saabetan laysa maa’hu shakkun,
and a firm certainty not accompanied by doubt,
وَ تَواضُعاً لَيْسَ مَعَهُ كِبْرٌ
wa tawaazo-a’n laysa maa’hu kibrun
humility not accompanied by pride,
وَ رَحَمْةً اَنالُ بِها شَرَفَ كَرامَتِكَ
wa rahmatan anaalo behaa sharafa karaamateka
And mercy by which I will attain the honour of Your estimation
فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
fid dunyaa wal aakherate,
in this world and the Hereafter;
اِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ قَديرٌ
innaka a’laa kulle shay-in qadeer,
“...Surely You are powerful over everything.” (3:26)
وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ الطَّيِّبينَ الطَّاهِرينَ
wa sallal laaho a’laa mohammadin wa aalehit tayyebeenat taahereena
and may Allah bless Muhammad and his family, the good, the pure,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
berahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.
by Your Mercy, O Most merciful of the merciful.
