Supplication 147- Day 24 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ عافِني في ديني وَ عافِني في جَسَدى
allaahumma a’afenee fee deenee, wa a’afenee fee jasadee,
O Allah, grant me soundness in my religion and grant me soundness in my body;
وَ عافِني في سَمْعي وَ عافِني في بَصَري
wa a’afenee fee sme’ee, wa a’afenee fee basaree,
grant me soundness in my hearing and grant me soundness in my sight,
وَ اجْعَلْهُمَا الْوارِثَيْنِ مِنّى
waj a’lhomal waaresayne minnee,
and make the two inherit from me.
يا بَدى ءُ لا بَدْءَ لَكَ يا دائِمُ لا نَفادَ لَكَ
yaa badee-o laa bad-a laka, yaa daa-emo laa nafaada laka,
O Originator, no beginning have You, O Eternal, no end have You;
يا حَىٌّ لا يَمُوتُ يا مُحْيِىَ الْمَوْتى
yaa hayyo laa yamooto, yaa mohyeyal mawtaa,
O "...Ever-living who does not die” (25:58), O “...Quickener of the dead” (30:50),
اَنْتَ الْقائِمُ عَلى كُلِّ نَفْسٍ بِما كَسَبَتْ
antal qaa-emo a’laa kulle nafsin bemaa kasabat,
You “stand over every soul for what it has earned” (13:33)
صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ
salle a’laa mohammadin wa ahle baytehi,
bless Muhammad and the people of his house,
وَ افْعَلْ بي ما اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ
waf a’l bee maa anta ahloh.
and do to me what is worthy of You.
اَللَّهُمَّ فالِقَ الْاِصْباحِ وَ جاعِلَ اللَّيْلِ سَكَناً وَ الشَّمْسِ وَ الْقَمَرِ حُسْباناً
allaahumma faalequl isbaahe, wa jaa-e’lal layle sakanan, wash shamse wal qamare husbaanan,
O Allah, the One who “splits the dawn” and Who makes “the night for rest, and the sun and the moon for a reckoning” (6:96),
اِقْضِ عَنِّي الدَّيْنَ وَ اَعِذْني مِنَ الْفَقْرِ
iqze a’nnid dayna, wa a-a’zenee menal faqre
Discharge for me my debt, protect me from poverty,
وَ مَتِّعْني بِسَمْعي وَ بَصَري وَ قَوِّني في سَبيلِكَ
wa matte’nee be-sam-e’ee wa basaree, wa qawwenee fee sabeeleka
give me the benefit of my hearing and sight, and strengthen me in Your way,
yaa arhamar raahemeen.
O Most Merciful of the Merciful...
اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمينَ لا اِلهَ غَيْرُكَ
allaahumma anta arhamur raahemeen, laa elaaha ghayroka,
O Allah, You are the Most Merciful of the merciful, there is no god but You,
وَ الْبَديعُ لَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَيْ ءٌ
wal ba-dee-o’ laysa qablaka shay-un,
the Originator, there was none before You,
وَ الدَّائِمُ غَيْرُ الْفاني وَ الْحَيُّ الَّذي لايَمُوتُ
wad daa-emo ghayrul faanee, wal hayyul lazee laa yamooto,
the Eternal, Unceasing, the Ever-Living, Undying,
وَ خالِقُ ما يُرى وَ ما لايُرى
wa khaaleqo maa yoraa wa maa laa yoraa,
and Creator of what is seen and what is not seen,
كُلَّ يَوْمٍ اَنْتَ في شَأْنٍ
kulla yawmin anta fee shaanin,
every day You are upon some affair (Ref. 55:29)
صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ
salle a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
bless Muhammad and his family
وَ لْيَكُنْ مِنْ شَأْنِكَ الْمَغْفِرَةُ لي
walyakun min shaanekal maghferato lee
and appoint from Your affair forgiveness for me,
وَ لِوالِدَىَّ وَ لِوُلْدي وَ اِخْواني
wa lewaaledayya wa lewuldee wa ikhwaanee
my parents, my children and my brothers,
yaa arhamar raahemeen.
O Most Merciful of the Merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الَّذي تَعْلَمُ كُلَّ شَيْ ءٍ بِغَيْرِ تَعْليمٍ
allaahumma antal lazee ta’lamo kulla shay-in beghayre ta’leemin
O Allah, You are the One Who knows everything without learning,
falakal hamdo,
so praise be to You;
اَللهُ اَللهُ اَللهُ رَبّي لااُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئاً
allaaho allaaho allaaho rabbee laa ushreko behi shay-an,
Allah, Allah, Allah is my Lord, I associate none with Him.
لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْ ءٌ وَ هُوَ السَّميعُ الْبَصيرُ
laysa kamislehi shay-un, wa howas samee-u’l baseero,
“...There is none like Him and He is the All-hearing the All-seeing” (42:11)
لاتُدْرِكُهُ الْاَبْصارُ وَ هُوَ يُدْرِكُ الْاَبْصارَ وَ هُوَ اللَّطيفُ الْخَبيرُ
laa tudrekohul absaaro, wa howa yudrekul absaaro, wa howal lateeful khabeer.
“Vision perceives Him not and He perceives all vision. He is the Subtle, All-aware.” (6:103)
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ وَ اِنَّكَ ما تَشَأْ مِنْ اَمْرٍ يَكُنْ
allaahumma innee asaloka wa innaka maa tashaa-o min amrin yakun,
O Allah, I ask You – and whatever You will of an affair, is,
وَ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِىِّ الرَّحْمَةِ
wa atawajjaho elayka benabiyyeka mohammadin nabiyyir rahmate
And I turn to You through Your Prophet, Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy,
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ الطَّيِّبينَ الْاخْيارِ
sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehit tayyebeenal akhyaar,
blessings of Allah on him and his family, the good, the excellent
يا مُحَمَّدُ اِنّي اَتَوَجَّهُ بِكَ اِلَى اللهِ
yaa mohammado, innee atawajjaho beka elal laahe
O Muhammad, I turn through you to Allah,
رَبِّكَ وَ رَبّي في قَضاءِ حاجَتي
rabbeka wa rabbee fee qazaa-e haajatee
Your Lord and my Lord, for the fulfilment of my need,
وَ اَنْ يُصَلِّىَ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلى الِكَ الطَّيِّبينَ الطَّاهِرينَ
wa an yosalleya a’layka wa a’laa aalekat tayyebeenat taahereen,
and that He bless you and your family, the good, the pure,
وَ اَنْ يَفْعَلَ بي ما اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ
wa an tafa’la bee maa anta ahloh.
and that He do to me what He is worthy of.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي
allaahumma inee as-aloka bismekal lazee
O Allah, I ask You by Your Name by which
يُمْشى بِهِ عَلى ظُلَلِ الْماءِ
yumshaa behi a’laa zolalil maa-e
the surface of the water is walked on,
كَما يُمْشى بِهِ عَلى جُدَدِ الْاَرْضِ
kamaa yumshaa behi a’laa jodadil arze,
as is the level ground of the earth;
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي
wa as-aloka bismekal lazee
I ask You by Your Name at which
تَهْتَزُّ لَهُ اَقْدامُ مَلائِكَتِكَ
tahtazzo lahu aqdaamo malaaekateka,
the feet of Your angles are put into motion;
وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي
wa as-aloka bismekal lazee
I ask You by Your Name by which
دعاكَِ بِهِ مُوسى عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ
daa’aka behi moosaa a’layhis salaamo
Musa, peace be on him, called on you
مِنْ جانِبِ الطُّورِ الْاَيْمَنِ فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهُ
min jaanebit tooril aymane, fastajabta lahu
“...from the right side of the Mount” (19:52), and You answered him
وَ اَلْقَيْتَ عَلَيْهِ مَحَبَّةً مِنْكَ
wa alqayta a’layhe mahabbatam mink.
and bestowed on him love from You;
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي
wa as-aloka bismekal lazee
I ask You by Your Name by which
دَعاكَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ
daa’aka behi mohammadun sallal laaho alayhe wa aalehi,
Muhammad, blessings of Allah on him and his family, called on You,
فَغَفَرْتَ لَهُ ما تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ وَ ما تَأَخَّرَ
fa-ghafarta lahu maa taqaddama min zanbehi wa maa taakh- khara,
and You forgave him his former and latter sins
وَ اَتْمَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ نِعْمَتَكَ
wa atmamta a’layhe ne’mataka
and completed for him Your blessing (Ref. 48:2),
اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ
an tosalleaya a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
That You bless Muhammad and his family
وَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بي ما اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ
wa an taf-a’la bee maa anta ahloh.
and do to me what You are worthy of.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ بِمَعاقِدِ الْعِزِّ مِنْ عَرْشِكَ
allaahumma innee asaloka be-ma-a’aqedil i’zze min a’rsheka,
O Allah, I ask You by the stations of glory of Your Throne
وَ مُنْتَهَى الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْ كِتابِكَ
wa muntahar rahmate min ketaabeka,
and the utmost degree of mercy of Your Book;
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْاَعْظَمِ وَ جَلالِكَ الْاَعْلى
wa asaloka bismekal aa’zame wa jalaalekal a-a’laa
I ask You by Your Mightiest Name and Majesty Most High
وَ كَلِماتِكَ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتي
wa kalemaatekat taammaatil latee
and Your perfect Words which
لايُجاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ وَ لا فاجِرٌ
laa yojaawezohunna barrun wa laa faajerun,
neither righteous nor wicked can transcend;
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ يا اَللهُ يا رَحْمانُ يا رَحيمُ
wa asaloka yaa allaaho yaa rahmaano yaa raheemo
I ask You, O Allah, O All-Merciful, O All-Compassionate,
يا ذَاالْجَلالِ وَ الْاِكْرامِ
yaa zal jalaale wal ikraame,
“...Possessor of Majesty and Honour" (55:78),
اِلهاً واحِداً اَحَداً فَرْداً صَمَداً قائِماً بِالْقِسْطِ
elaahan waahedan fardan samadan qaaeman bil-qiste
One, Sole Unique God, Everlasting Refuge, “...upholding justice” (3:18)
لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ الْعَزيزُ الْحَكيمُ
laa elaaha illaa antal a’zeezul hakeem,
There is no god but You, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise;
اَنْتَ الْوِتْرُ الْكَبيرُ الْمُتَعالِ
antal witrul kabeerul motaa’alo.
You are the Single, the All-great, the Exalted,
اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ
an tosalleya a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
to bless Muhammad and his family
وَ اَنْ تُدْخِلَنِي الْجَنَّةَ عَفْواً بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ
wa an tudkhelanil jannata a’fwan be-ghayre hesaab,
and to make me enter the Garden, in forgiveness and without reckoning;
وَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بي ما اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ مِنَ الْجُودِ
wa an taf-a’la bee maa anta ahlohu menal joode
And to do to me what is worthy of You in generosity,
وَ الْكَرَمِ وَ الرَّأْفَةِ وَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَ التَّفَضُّلِ
wal karame war raafate war rahmate wat tafazzol.
nobility, compassion, mercy and bounty.
اَللَّهُمَّ لا تُبَدِّلِ اسْمي وَ لا تُغَيِّرْ جِسْمي
allaahumma laa tobaddil ismee, wa laa toghayyir jismee,
O Allah, change not my name nor alter my body,
وَ لا تُجْهِدْ بَلائي، وَ لا تُشْمِتْ بي اَعْدائي يا كَريمُ
wa laa tujhid balaaee, wa laa tushmit bee a-a’daa-ee yaa kareem.
make not my trial distressing nor my enemies rejoice at my affliction, O All-generous.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غِنىً مُطْغٍ وَ فَقْرٍ مُنْسٍ
allaahumma innee ao’ozo beka min ghenan motghin, wa faqrin munsin,
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from wealth that leads to inordinate disobedience, from poverty that causes forgetfulness (of You),
وَ مِنْ هَوىً مُرْدٍ وَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ مُخْزٍ
wa min hawan murdin, wa min a’malin mukhzin,
from desires that cause destruction, and from actions that cause disgrace.
اَصْبَحْتُ وَ رَبِّيَ الْواحِدُ الْاَحَدُ لا اُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئاً
asbahto wa rabbeyal waahedul ahado, laa ushreko behi shay-an,
I am such that my Lord is the One, the Sole; none do I associate with Him;
وَ لا اَدْعُو مَعَهُ اِلهاً اخَرَ
wa laa ad-o’o ma-a’hu elaahan aakhara,
I do not call on another god with Him,
وَ لا اَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ وَلِيّاً
wa laa attakhezo min doonehi waliyyaa.
nor do I take as a guardian other than Him.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
وَ هَوِّنْ عَلَىَّ ما اَخافُ مَشَقَّتَهُ
wa hawwin a’layya maa akhaafo moshaqqatahu
lighten for me what I fear the difficulty thereof,
وَ يَسِّرْلي ما اَخافُ عُسْرَتَهُ
wa yassir lee maa akhaafo u’sratahu,
ease for me what I fear the hardship thereof,
وَ سَهِّلْ لي ما اَخافُ حُزُونَتَهُ
wa sahhil lee maa akhaafo hozoonatahu,
smooth for me what I fear the roughness thereof,
وَ وَسِّعْ عَلَىَّ ما اَخافُ ضيقَهُ
wa wasse’ a’layya maa akhaafo zeeqahu,
expand for me what I fear the restriction thereof,
وَ فَرِّجْ عَنّي في دُنْياىَ وَ اخِرَتي بِرِضاكَ عَنّي.
wa farrij a’nnee fee dunyaaya wa aakheratee berezaaka a’nnee.
and relieve me in my world and my hereafter through Your pleasure with me.
اَللَّهُمَّ هَبْ لي صِدْقَ لْالنبيين فِي التَّوَكُّلِّ عَلَيْكَ
allaahumma hab lee sidqan nabiyyeena fit tawakkole a’layka,
O Allah, grant me the sincerity of the Prophets in reliance on You.
وَ اجْعَلْ دُعائي فِي الْمُسْتَجابِ مِنَ الدُّعاء
waj a’l do-a’a-ee fil mustajaabe menad doa’a-e,
Make my prayer among those which are answered,
وَ اجْعَلْ عَمَلي فِي الْمَرْفُوعِ الْمُتَقَبَّلِ
waj a’l a’malee fil marfoo-i’ motaqabbale.
and make my actions of those which ascend up (to You) and are accepted
اَللَّهُمَّ طَوِّقْني ما حَمَّلْتَني
allaahumma tawwiqnee maa hammaltanee,
O Allah, strengthen me for what you have imposed on me
وَ لا تُحَمِّلْني ما لا طاقَةَ لي بِهِ
wa laa tohammilnee maa laa taaqata lee behi,
and do not burden me with what I have no strength to bear.
حَسْبِيَ اللهُ وَ نِعْمَ الْوَكيلُ
hasbeyal laaho wa ne’mal wakeel.
Allah is sufficient for me and an excellent Guardian. (Ref. 3:173)
اَللَّهُمَّ اَعِنّي وَ لا تُعِنْ عَلَىَّ
allaahumma a-i’nnee, wa laa to-i’n a’layya,
O Allah, aid me and do not aid against me,
وَ اقْضِ لي عَلى كُلِّ مَنْ بَغى عَلَيَّ
waq ze lee a’laa kulle man baghaa a’layya,
decide in favour of me against all who act wrongfully towards me,
وَ امْكُرْلي وَ لاتَمْكُرْ بي
wam kur lee, wa laa tamkur bee wah denee,
devise for me and not against me,
وَ اهْدِني وَ يَسِّرِ الْهُدى لي
wahdeni wa yasseril hodaa lee.
guide me and ease the guidance for me.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْتَوْدِعُكَ ديني
allaahumma innee astawde-o’ka deenee
O Allah, I entrust to You my religion,
وَ اَمانَتي وَ خَواتِيمَ اَعْمالي
wa amaanatee wa khawaateema aa’maalee,
my trust, the results of my actions
وَ جَميعَ ما اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ بِهِ فِي الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
wa jamee-a’ maa an-a’mta a’layya behi fid dunyaa wal aakherate,
and all that You have blessed me with in this world and the next,
فَاَنْتَ الَّذي لاتَضيعُ وَدائِعُكَ
fa-antal lazee laa tozee-o’ wadaa-e-o’k.
for You are the One Who does not neglect taking care of what has been entrusted to You.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّهُ لَنْ يُجيرَني مِنْك اَحَدٌ
allaahumma innahu lan yojeeranee minka ahadun,
O Allah, none will protect me from You
وَ لَنْ اَجِدَ مِنْ دُونِكَ مُلْتَحَداً
wa lan ajeda min dooneka multahadaa.
and I will not find a refuge other than You.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
O Allah, bless Muhammad and his family,
وَ لاتَكِلْني اِلى نَفْسي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ اَبَداً
wa laa takilnee elaa nafsee tarfata a’ynin abadan,
and do not entrust me to myself for a moment,
وَ لا تَنْزِعْ مِنّي صالِحاً اَعْطَيْتَهُ
wa laa tanze’ minnee saalehan a-a’taytahu,
and do not take from me any good that You have granted me,
فَاِنَّهُ لا مانِعَ لِما اَعْطَيْتَ
fa-innahu laa maane-a’ lemaa a-a’tayta,
for there is no withholder of what You grant
وَ لا مُعْطِيَ لِما مَنَعْتَ
wa laa mo’teya lemaa mana’ta,
and there is no bestower of what You withhold,
وَ لا يَنْفَعُ ذَاالْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ
wa laa yanfao’ zal jadde minkal jadd.
and the fortune of one possessing good fortune will not benefit him with You.
رَبَّنا اتِنا فِي الدُّنْيا حَسَنَةً وَ فِي الْاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
rabbanaa aatenaa fid dunyaa hasanatan wa fil aakherate hasanatan wa qenaa a’zaaban naare
“Our Lord, give us good in this world, and good in the hereafter, and save us from the torment of the Fire.” (2:201)
وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ الْاَخْيارِ
wa sallal laaho a’laa mohammadin wa aalehil akhyaar,
and the blessings of Allah on Muhammad and his family, the good,
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يا اَرْحَمَ الراَّحِمينَ
berahmateka yaa arhamar raahemeen.
by Your Mercy, Most Merciful of the Merciful.
