Supplication 146- Day 23 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya

بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اِنّي وَجَدْتُ امْرَأَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَ اُوتِيَتْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَىٍْ وَ لَها عَرْشٌ عَظيمٌ
innee wajdtum ra-atan tamlekohum wa ooteyat min kulle shayinw wa lahaa a’rshun a’zeem.
“I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given of everything, and she possesses a mighty throne." (27:23)

وَجَدْتُها وَ قَوْمَها يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ وَ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطانُ اَعْمالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبيلِ فَهُمْ لايَهْتَدُونَ
wajattohaa wa qawmahaa yasjodoona lishshamse min doonil laahe wa zayyana lahomush shaytaano a-a’maalahum fasaddahum a’nis sabeele fahum laa yahtadoon.
"I found her and her people prostrating to the sun, apart from Allah; Satan has made their deeds fair-seeming to them and he has barred them from the (right) way, and therefore they are not guided." (27:24)

اَلاَّ يَسْجُدُوا لِلهِ الَّذي يُخْرِجُ الْخَبْ ءَ فِي السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ وَ يَعْلَمُ ما يُخْفُونَ وَ ما يُعْلِنُونَ
allaa yasjodoo lillaahil lazee yukhrejul khaba fis samaawaate wal arze wa ya’lamo maa tukhfoona wa maa to’lenoon.
"So that they do not prostrate themselves to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and earth; and He knows." (27:25)

اَللهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظيمِ
allaaho laa elaaha illaa howa rabbul a’rshil a’zeem.
“Allah, there is no god but He, the Lord of the Mighty Throne.” (27:26)

فَذُوقُوا بِما نَسيتُمْ لِقاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هذا اِنَّا نَسيناكُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذابَ الْخُلْدِ بِما كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Wajib Sijdah
fazooqoo bemaa naseetum leqaaa-a yawmekum haazaa, innaa naseenaakum wa zooqoo a’zaabal khulde bemaa kuntum ta’maloon.
“So now taste, as you forgot the meeting of this your day ! We indeed have forgotten you. Taste the everlasting punishment for that which you were doing !” (32:14)

اِنَّما يُؤْمِنُ بِاياتِنا الَّذينَ اِذا ذُكِّرُوا بِها خَرُّوا سُجَّداً وَ سَبَّحُوا بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَ هُمْ لايَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Wajib Sijdah
innamaa yoameno beaayaatenal lazeena ezaa zukkeroo behaa sujjadanw wa sabbehoo be-hamde rabbehim wa hum laa yastakberoon.
"Surely only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down postrate and proclaim the praise of their Lord, not becoming proud." (32:15)

تَتَجافى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفاً وَ طَمَعاً وَ مِمَّا رَزَقْناهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ
tatajaafaa jonoobohum a’nil mazaa-je-e’ yad-o’ona rabbahum khawfanw wa tama-a’nw, wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yunfeqoon.
Their sides forsake their beds as they call on their Lord in fear and hope; and they expend of what We have provided them. (32:16)

فَلا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ ما اُخْفِىَ لَهُمْ مِنْ قُرَّةِ اَعْيُنٍ جَزاءً بِما كانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
falaa ta'lamo nafsum maa ukhfeya lahum min qurrate a-a’yon, jazaaa-am bemaa kaanoo ya’maloon.
"No soul knows what delights of the eye are kept hidden for them. As a recompense for what they used to do.” (32:17)

اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ جَعَلْتَ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتِ الْمَأْوى نُزُلاً بِما كانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena ja-a’lta lahum jannaatul maawaa nozolan bemaa kaanoo ya’maloon.
O Allah, make me of those to whom you have appointed the “...gardens of the Refuge, in hospitality for what they used to do.” (32:19)

قالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤالِ نَعْجَتِكَ اِلى نِعاجِهِ، وَ اِنَّ كَثيراً مِنَ الْخُلَطاءِ لَيَبْغي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلى بَعْضٍ، اِلاَّ الَّذينَ امَنُوا وَ عَمِلُوا الصَّالِحاتِ، وَ قَليلٌ ما هُمْ وَ ظَنَّ داوُدُ اَنَّما فَتَّنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَ خَرَّ راكِعاً وَ اَنابَ
qaalaa laqad zalamaka be-soaale na’jateka elaa ne-a’ajeh, wa inna kaseeram menal kholataaa-e layabghee ba’zohum a’laa ba’zin illal lazeena aamanoo wa a’melus saalehaate wa qaleelum maa hum, wa zanna da-ooodo annamaa fatannaaho fastaghfara rabbahu wa kharra raake-a’nw wa anaab.
“He said, ‘Assuredly he has wronged you in asking for your ewe to add to his sheep; and indeed many partners transgress against each other, save those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness – and how few they are!’ And Dawud perceived that We had only tried him; therefore he asked forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down bowing, and he repented” (38:24)

وَ مِنْ اياتِهِ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهارُ وَ الشَّمْسُ والْقَمَرُ لاتَسْجُدُوا لِلشَّمْسِ وَ لا لِلْقَمَرِ وَ اسْجُدُوا لِلهِ الَّذي خَلَقَهُنَّ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ اِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ
Wajib Sijdah
wa min aayaatehil laylo wan nahaaro wash shamso wal qamar, laa tasjodoo lish-shamse wa laa lil-qamare was jodoo lillaahil lazee khalaqahunna in kuntum iyyaaho ta’bodoon.
“And of His signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate before the sun and moon, but prostrate before Allah who created them, if it is He whom you worship.” (41:37)

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحيمُ
allaahumma antal ghafoorur raheemo
O Allah, You are the All-forgiving, All-compassionate,

وَ اَنَا الْمُذْنِبُ الْخاطِى ءُ
wa anal muznebul khaatee.
and I am the sinner, the wrong-doer.

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْمُعْطي وَ اَنَا السَّائِلُ
allaahumma antal mo’tee wa anas saa-el.
O Allah, you are the Bestower and I am the questioner.

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْباقي وَ اَنَا الْفاني
allaahumma antal baaqee wa anal faanee.
O Allah, You are the Eternal and I am the transient.

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْغَنِىُّ وَ اَنَا الْفَقيرُ
allaahumma antal ghaniyyo wa anal faqeer.
O Allah, You are the Self-sufficient and I am the needy.

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْعَزيزُ وَ اَنَا الذَّليلُ
allaahumma antal a’zeezo wa anaz zaleel.
O Allah, You are the Mighty and I am the humbled.

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْخالِقُ وَ اَنَا الْمَخْلُوقُ
allaahumma antal khaaleqo wa anal makhlooq.
O Allah, You are the Creator and I am the created.

اَللَّهُمَّ اَنْتَ الْمالِكُ وَ اَنَا الْمَمْلُوكُ
allaahumma antal maaleko wa anal mamlook.
O Allah, You are the Master and I am the slave.

اَللَّهُمَّ اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذابَ جَهَنَّمَ اِنَّ عَذابَها كانَ غَراماً
allaahummas rif a’nnaa a’zaaba jahannam, inna a’zaabahaa kaana gharaamaa
O Allah “...turn from us the torment of hell; surely its torment is continuous"; (25:65)

اِنَّها سائَتْ مُسْتَقَرّاً وَ مُقاماً
innahaa saaa-at mustaqarranw wa moqaamaa.
"surely it is an evil abode and an evil station” (25:66)

رَبَّنا سَمِعْنا وَ اَطَعْنا غُفْرانَكَ رَبَّنا وَ اِلَيْكَ الْمَصيرُ
same’naa wa ata’naa, ghufraanaka rabbanaa wa elaykal maseer.
“...We hear and obey; our Lord, grant us Your forgiveness; to You is the eventual destination.” (2:285)

رَبِّ زِدْني عِلْماً
rabbe zidnee i’lmaa
“My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (20:114)

وَ لاتُخْزِني يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ
wa tukhzenee yawma yub-a’soon.
and “...Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up (again).” (26:87)

رَبِّ اَدْخِلْني مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَ اَخْرِجْني مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَ اجْعَلْ لي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطاناً نَصيراً
rabbe adkhilnee mudkhala sidqinw wa akhrijnee mukhraja sidqinw waj a’l lee mil ladunka sultaanan naseeraa.
“My Lord, cause me to enter a goodly entrance, and cause me to go out with a goodly exit; and grant me authority from You, to help me." (17:80)

رَبِّ اَنْزِلْني مُنْزَلاً مُبارَكاً وَ اَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِلينَ
rabbe anzilnee munzalam mobaarakanw wa anta khayrul munzeleen.
“My Lord, disembark me with a blessed disembarkment, for You are the best of those who enable to disembark." (23:29)

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لي صَدْرى وَ يَسِّرْلي اَمْري
rabbaish rah lee sadree wa yassir lee amree.
“My Lord, expand for me my breast and ease for me my task.” (20:25-26)

وَ احْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِساني
wah lol u’qdatam mil lesaanee.
"And loose the knot from my tongue." (20:27)

رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْلَنا وَ لِاِخْوانِنَا الَّذينَ سَبَقُونا بِالْايمانِ وَ لا تَجْعَلْ في قُلُوبِنا غِلاًّ لِلَّذينَ امَنُوا، رَبَّنا اِنَّكَ رَؤُوفٌ رَحيمٌ
rabbanagh fir lanaa wa leikhwaanenal lazeena sabaqoonaa bileemaane wa laa taj-a’l fee qoloobenaa gillal lil-lazeena aamanoo rabbanaa innaka raoofur raheem.
“...Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers, who preceded us in belief, and put not into our hearts any grudge towards those who believe. Our Lord, surely You are the All-gentle, the All-compassionate.” (59:10)

رَبَّنا تُبْ عَلَيْنا وَ ارْحَمْنا وَ اهْدِنا وَ اغْفِرْلَنا
rabbanaa tub a’laynaa war hamnaa wah denaa wagh fir lanaa
Our Lord, turn to us, have mercy on us, guide us and forgive us;

وَ اجْعَلْ خَيْرَ اَعْمارِنا اخِرَها
waj a’l khayra a-a’maarenaa aakherehaa,
make the best of our years the last of them,

وَ خَيْرَ اَعْمالِنا خَواتيمَها
wa khayra a-a’maalenaa khawaateemahaa,
the best of our actions the final ones

وَ خَيْرَ اَيَّامِنا يَوْمَ لِقائِكَ
wa khayra ayyaamenaa yawma leqaaa-eka,
and the best of our days the day of meeting You;

وَ اخْتِمْ لَنا بِالسَّعادَةِ
wakh tim lanaa bis-saa’adate
end our days with prosperity,

يا حَيُّ يا قَيُّومُ فَاِنّي بِرَحْمَتِكَ اَسْتَغيثُ
yaa hayyo yaa qayyoomo fa-innee berahmateka tagheeso
O Ever-Living, O Eternal, for by Your mercy I seek Your help.

يا فارِجَ الْهَمِّ وَ يا كاشِفَ الْغَمِّ
yaa faarejal hamme wa yaa kaashefal ghamme,
O Dispeller of anxiety, O Remover of grief,

وَ يا مُجيبَ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرّينَ
wa yaa mojeeba da’watil muztarreena,
O Answerer of the call of the distressed;

اَنْتَ رَحْمانُ الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ وَ رَحيمُهُما
anta rahmaanud dunyaa wal aakherate wa raheemahomaa,
You are the Merciful of this world and the next and the Compassionate;

اِرْحَمْني في حَوائِجي
irhamnee fee jamee-e’ hawaa-ejee
Have mercy on me in all my needs,

رَحْمَةً تُغْنيني بِها عَنْ رَحْمَةِ مَنْ سِواكَ
rahmatan tughneenee behaa a’n rahmate man sewaak.
a mercy by which You free me from the mercy of those other than You.

اَللَّهُمَّ لااَمْلِكُ ما اَرْجُو
allaahumma laa amleka maa arjoo,
O Allah, I do not possess what I desire,

وَ لا اَسْتَطيعُ دَفْعَ ما اَحْذَرُ اِلاَّ بِكَ
wa laa astatee-o’ daf-a’ maa ahzaro illaa beka,
nor am I able to repel what I fear, except through You.

وَ الْاَمْرُ بِيَدِكَ وَ اَنَا فَقيرٌ اِلى اَنْ تَغْفِرَلي
wal amro beyadeka wa anaa faqeerun elaa an taghfera lee,
The affair is in your Hand; I am needy of Your forgiveness

وَ كُلُّ خَلْقِكَ اِلَيْكَ فَقيرٌ
wa kullo khalqeka elayka faqeerun,
and all Your creation are needy of You,

وَ لا اَحَدٌ اَفْقَرَ مِنّي اِلَيْكَ
wa laa ahadun afqara minnee elayka.
and there is none more needy of You than me.

اَللَّهُمَّ بِنُورِكَ اهْتَدَيْتُ
allaahumma benoorekah tadayto,
O Allah, by Your Light have I been guided,

وَ بِفَضْلِكَ اسْتَغْنَيْتُ
wa be-fazlekas taghnayto,
by your Bounty have I been made free from want,

وَ في نِعْمَتِكَ اَصْبَحْتُ وَ اَمْسَيْتُ
wa fee ne’mateka asbahto wa amsayto,
and in Your blessing I enter into the morning and the evening.

ذُنُوبي بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ مِنْها وَ اَتُوبُ اِلَيْكَ
zonoobee bayna yadaykas taghferoka minhaa, wa atoobo elayka.
My sins are before me; I ask You forgiveness of them and I turn to You.

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَدْرَأُ بِكَ في نَحْرِ كُلِّ مَنْ اَخافُ مَكْرَهُ
allaahumma innee adra-o beka fee nahre kulle man akhaafo makrahu,
O Allah, I attack through You in the breast of each one whose stratagem I fear,

وَ اَسْتَجيرُكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَ اَسْتَعينُكَ عَلَيْهِ
was tajeeroka min sharrehi, was tae’enoka a’layhe,
I seek Your protection from his evil and I seek Your help against him.

لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ سُبْحانَكَ اِنّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمينَ
laa elaaha illaa anta subhaanaka innee kunto menaz zaalemeen.
“...There is no god but You, Glory be to You, I have been among the unjust” (21:87).

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ عيشَةً هَنيئَةً وَ ميتَةً سَوِيَّةً
allaahumma innee asaloka a’yshatan hanee-atan, wa meetatan sawiyyatan,
O Allah, I ask of You a pleasant life, death in a good state

وَ مَرَدّاً غَيْرَ مُخْزٍ وَ لا فاضِحٍ
wa maraddan ghayra mukhzin wa laa faazehin
and a return without humiliation or disgrace,

يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
yaa arhamar raahemeen.
O Most Merciful of the Merciful

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَعُوذُ بِكَ اَنْ اَذِلَّ اَوْ اُذَلَّ
allaahumma innee ao’ozo beka an azilla aw ozalla,
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from being abased or abasing (someone),

اَوْ اَضِلَّ اَوْ اُضَلَّ اَوْ اَظْلِمَ اَوْ اُظْلَمَ
aw azilla aw ozalla, aw azlema aw uzlama,
From being led astray or leading astray, from doing wrong or being wronged,

اَوْ اَجْهَلَ اَوْ يُجْهَلَ عَلَىَّ
aw ajhala aw yujhala a’layya,
or from behaving ignorantly or being treated ignorantly,

يا ذَاالْعَرْشِ الْعَظيمِ وَ الْمَنِّ الْقَديمِ
yaa zal a’rshil a’zeeme wal mannil qadeeme,
O Possessor of the “...Mighty Throne” (9:129) and Eternal Grace.

تَبارَكْتَ وَ تَعالَيْتَ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
tabaarakta wa taa’alayta yaa arhamar raahemeen,
Blessed are You and Exalted, O Most merciful of the merciful,

وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلى سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ الطَّاهِرينَ
wa sallal laaho a’laa sayyedenaa mohammadin wa aalehit taahereen.
and Allah bless our chief, Muhammad, and his pure family.
