Supplication 145- Day 22 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya

بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِمَّنْ يَلْقاكَ مُؤْمِناً
allaahummaj a’lnee mimman yalqaaka moamenan
O Allah! Make me of those who will present themselves before You as believers
qad a’melas saalehaate,
who performed good deeds,
وَ مِمَّنْ اَسْكَنْتَهُ الدَرَّجاتِ الْعُلى
wa man askantahud darajaatil o’laa
and whom You will accommodate
في جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ تَجْري مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنهارُ
fee jannaate a’dnin tajree min tahtehal anhaaro.
in the Gardens of Eternity beneath them flow rivers.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِمَّنْ يَذْكُرُ وَ يَقُولُ
allaahummaj a’lnee mimman yazkoro wa yaqoolo :
O Allah! Make me of those who remember You and say :
رَبَّنا امَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنا وَ ارْحَمْنا
rabbanaa aamannaa faghfir lanaa war hamnaa
O our Lord! We believe, so forgive us and have mercy on us,
وَ اَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْغافِرينَ وَ اَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمينَ
wa anta khayrul ghaafereena wa arhamur raahemeena.
verily You are the best of forgivers and best of the Merciful Ones.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْني مِنْ عِبادِكَ
allaahumma waj a’lnee min e’baadekal
O Allah! Make me of those of Your bondsmen
الَّذينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ هَوْناً
lazeena yamshoona a’lal arze hawnan
who walk on the earth humbly
وَ اِذا خاطَبَهُمُ الْجاهِلُونَ قالُوا سَلاماً
wa ezaa khaatabahomul jaaheloona qaaloo salaamaa.
and when the ignorant address them, they say 'Salaam' (Peace on you),
وَ الَّذينَ يَبيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّداً وَ قِياماً
wal lazeena yabeetoona le-rabbehim sujjadanw wa qeyaamaa.
and those who pass the night in prostration in obeisance to their Lord and standing;
وَ الَّذينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذابَ جَهَنَّمَ
wal lazeena yaqooloona rabbanaas rif a’nnaa a’zaaba jahannam,
and those who say pray. O our Lord ! Turn away from us the torment of the Hell,
اِنَّ عَذابَها كانَ غَراماً
inna a’zaabahaa kaana gharaamaa.
verily the torment of it is a lasting affliction.
اِنَّها سائَتْ مُسْتَقَرّاً وَ مُقاماً
innahaa saa-a-at mustaqarranw wa moqaamaa.
Verily it is an evil abode and evil station.
وَ الَّذين اِذا اَنْفَقُوا لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا وَ لَمْ يَقْتُرُوا
wal lazeena ezaa anfaqoo lam yusrefoo wa lam yaqtoroo
And make me of those who when they spend are neither extravagant nor niggardly
وَ كانَ بَيْنَ ذلِكَ قَواماً
wa kaana bayna zaaleka qawaamaa.
but are stationed between the two extremes.
وَ الَّذينَ لايَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللهِ اِلهاً اخَرَ
wal lazeena laa yad-o’ona ma-a’l laahe elaahan aakhara
And those who call not with Allah any other gods
وَ لا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتي حَرَّمَ اللهُ اِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ
wa laa yaqtoloonan nafsal latee harramal laaho illaa bil-haqqe
and slay not a soul which Allah has forbidden to do it, save with a right to do so,
وَ لا يَزْنُونَ وَ مَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذلِكَ يَلْقَ اَثاماً
wa laa yaznoon, wa many yafa’l zaaleka yalqa asaamaany.
and who commit not adultery, and whosoever does this shall find a requital of sin.
يُضاعَفُ لَهُ الْعَذابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ
yozaa-a’f lahul a’zaabo yawmal qeyaamate
For him shall be doubled, the torment on the Day of Resurrection;
wa yakhlud feehe mohaanaa.
and for ever shall they abide in it in ignominy.
وَ الَّذينَ لايَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ
wal lazeena laa yash hadoonaz zoora,
And of those who bear not witness to what is false
وَ اِذا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِراماً
wa ezaa marroo billaghwe marroo keraamaa.
and when they pass by what is vain, they pass in dignity.
وَ الَّذينَ اِذا ذُكِّرُوا بِاياتِ رَبِّهِمْ
wal lazeena ezaa zukkeroo be-aayaate rabbehim
And of those who when admonished by the signs of their Lord;
لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْها صُمّاً وَ عُمْياناً
lam yakhirroo a’layhaa summanw wa u’myaanaa.
fall not down the deaf and blind.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ يَقُولُونَ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena yaqooloona
O Allah ! Make me of those who say :
رَبَّنا هَبْ لَنا مِنْ أَزْواجِنا وَ ذُرِّياتِنا
rabbanaa hab lanaa min azwaajenaa wa zurriyyaatenaa
O our Lord! grant us from our wives and our offspring
قُرَّةَ اَعْيُنٍ وَ اجْعَلْنا لِلْمُتَّقينَ اِماماً
qurrata a-a’onin waj a’lnaa lil-muttaqeena emaamaa.
coolness of the eyes and make us the Imams for the pious ones.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ يُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَةَ بِما صَبَرُوا وَ يُلَقَّوْنَ فيها تَحِيَّةً وَ سَلاماًخالِدينَ فيها حَسُنَتْ مُسْتَقَرّاً وَ مُقاماً
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena yujzawnal ghurfata bemaa sabaroo wa yolaqqawna feehaa tahiyyatnw wa salaaman. khaaledeena feehaa, hasonat mustaqarranw wa moqaamaa.
O Allah! Make me of those who shall be rewarded with high stations in paradise as reward for their forbearance and they shall meet therein with honours and salutations.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ تُحِلُّهُمْ دارَ الْمُقامَةِ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena tohillohum daaral moqaamate min fazleka
O Allah! Make me of those whom You will place by Your grace in an abode to abide for ever,
لايَمَسُّهُمْ فيها نَصَبٌ وَ لا يَمَسُّهُمْ فيها لُغُوبٌ
laa yamssohum feehaa nasab. wa laa yamassohum feehaa loghoob.
neither toil will touch them nor any fatigue will affect them.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني في جَنَّاتِ النَّعيمِ
allaahummaj a’lnee fee jannaatin na-e’eme
O Allah! take me to the gardens of bliss,
في جَنَّاتٍ وَ عُيُونٍ تَجْري مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهارُ
fee jannaatin wa o’yoonin tajree min tahtehal anhaar.
to the gardens and fountains beneath which flow rivers.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني في جَنَّاتِ النَّعيمِ في جَنَّاتٍ
alaahummaj a’lnee fee jannaatin na-e’eme fee jannatinw
O Allah! Take me to the gardens of bliss, to gardens
وَ نَهَرٍ في مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَليكٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ
wa nahar fee maq-a’de sidqin i’nda maleekim muqtader.
and river in the set of Truth with the Sovereign Omnipotent One.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ قِني شَرَّ نَفْسي
allaahumma wa qenee sharra nafsee,
O Allah! Protect me from the evil of my self,
وَ اغْفِرْلي وَ لِوالِدَىَّ وَ لِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِناً
wagh fir lee wa lewaaledayya wa leman dakhala bayti moamenan
forgive me, my parents and the persons who entered my house believing in You,
وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنينَ وَ الْمُؤمِناتِ
wa lil-moameneena yawma yaqoomul hesaab.
and the believers men and women,
وَ لا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمينَ اِلاَّ تَبارا
wa la tazediz-zalemeena illa tabara
and increase not to the unjust ones in ought save perdition!
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْلي وَ لِوالِدَىَّ
rabbanghfirli wale waaledayya
O our Lord ! Forgive me, my parents
وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسابُ
wa lil-moameneena yawma yaqoomul hesaab.
and the believers on the day of reckoning.
اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْلَنا وَ لِاِخْوانِنَا
allaahumagh fir lanaa wa leikhwaanenal
O Allah! Forgive us and our brethren
الَّذينَ سَبَقُونا بِالْايمانِ
lazeena sabaqoonaa bileemaane,
who have preceded us in faith
وَ لا تَجْعَلْ في قُلُوبِنا غِلاًّ لِلَّذينَ امَنُوا
wa laa taja’l fe qoloobenaa ghillan lil-lazeena aamanoo,
and create not in our hearts any ill will towards those who believe.
رَبَّنا اِنَّكَ رَؤُوفٌ رَحيمٌ
rabbanaa innaka ra-oofun raheem.
O our Lord ! Verily You are Ever-kind, All-merciful !
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنا مِنَ الَّذينَ يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ
allaahumma waj a’lnaa menal lazeena yofoona binnazre
O Allah! And make me of those who fulfil their vows
وَ يَخافُونَ يَوْماً كانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطيراً
wa yakhaafoona yawman kaana sharrohu mustateeraa.
and fear the day the woe of which stretches far and wide.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنا مِمَّنْ يُطْعِمُ الطَّعامَ عَلى حُبِّهِ مِسْكيناً وَ يَتيماً وَ أَسيراً
wa yute’moonat ta-a’ama a’laa hubbehi miskeenanw wa yateemaanw wa aseeraa.
O Allah! And name me of those, while needing if for themselves, who give away food out of love for Him to the poor, the orphan and the captive, say :
اِنَّما نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللهِ
innamaa nute’mokum le-wajhil laahe
we feed you only for Allah's sake
لانُريدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزاءً وَ لا شُكُوراً
laa noreedo minkum jazaaa-anw wa laa shokooraa.
we intend not of you any recompense nor even thanks thereof.
اِنَّا نَخافُ مِنْ رَبِّنا يَوْماً عَبُوساً قَمْطَريراً
innaa nakhaafo mir rabbenaa yawman a’boosan qamtareeraa.
Verily we dread from our Lord, a stern day of distress.
اَللَّهُمَّ فَوَقِّني شَرَّ ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ كَما وَقَيْتَهُمْ
allaahumma fawaqqenee sharra zaalekal yawma kamaa waqaytahum,
O Allah ! save me from the evil of that day in the manner You save them
وَ لَقِّني نَضْرَةً وَ سُرُوراً
wa laqqenee nazratanwa sorooraa,
and bestow on me freshness and pleasure
وَ اَجِرْني جَنَّةً وَ حَريراً
waj zenee jannatan wa hareeraa.
and give me recompense of garden to abide and silk to wear.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الْمُتَّكِئينَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ
allaahumma waj a’lnee menal muttake-eena fil jannate
O Allah! Make me recline therein on exalted couches,
عَلَى الْاَرائِكِ لايَرَوْنَ فيها شَمْساً وَ لا زَمْهَريراً
a’lal araa-eke laa yarawna feehaa shamsan wa laa zamhareeraa,
there will neither be seen Sun, nor any intense cold will be felt.
وَ دانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلالُها
wa daneyatan a’layhim zelaalohaa,
And close low over them, there shall be its shade
وَ ذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُها تَذْليلاً
wa zullelat qotoofohaa tazleelaa
and the clustered fruits thereof shall be bowing down within easy reach,
وَ يُطافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِانِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ
wa yotaafo a’layhim be-aaneyatin min fizzatin
and shall pass round among them vessels of silver
وَ اَكْوابٍ كانَتْ قَواريراً قَواريرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوها تَقْديراً
wa akwaabin kaanat qawaareeraa, qawaareera min fizzatin qaddaroohaa taqdeeraa,
and goblets of Crystal bright as glass made of silver; measure they to a well-measure.
وَ يُسْقَوْنَ فيها كَأْساً كانَ مِزاجُها زَنْجَبيلاً
wa yusqawna feehaa kaasan kaana mezaajohaa zanjabeelaa.
And they shall be supplied with the drink therein of a cup tempered with Zanjabeel (ginger).
اَللَّهُمَّ اسْقِني كَما سَقَيْتَهُم شَراباً طَهُوراً
allaahumma was qenee kamaa saqaytahum sharaaban tahooraa,
O Allah! Supply me with a drink in the manner You provided them with a pure and wholesome drink,
وَ حَلِّني كَما حَلَّيْتَهُمْ اَساوِرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ
wa hullanee kamaa hallaytahum asaawera min fizzatin,
and cover me in the manner You provided them with the robes of fine green silk and rich brocade,
وَ ارْزُقْني كَما رَزَقْتَهُمْ سَعْياً مَشْكُوراً
war zuqnee kamaa razaqtahum sa’yan mashkooraan,
and make me fortunate as You made them fortunate by accepting their endeavour with appreciation.
رَبَّنا لاتُزِغْ قُلُوبَنا بَعْدَ اِذْ هَدَيْتَنا
rabbanaa laa tozigh qoloobanaa ba’da iz hadaytanaa
O our Lord! suffer not our hearts to perverse after You have guided them aright,
وَ هَبْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
wa hab lanaa min ladunka rahmatan innaka antal wahhaab,
and grant us from Your mercy, for verily You and You alone are the Ever bestower.
وَ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الصَّابِرينَ وَ الصَّادِقينَ
waj a’lnee menas saabereena was saadeqeena
And make me of the forbearing, the truthful,
وَ الْقانِتينَ وَ الْمُنْفِقينَ
wal qaaneteena wal munfeqeena
the devout and of those who spend in the way of Allah,
وَ الْمُسْتَغْفِرينَ بِالْاَسْحارِ
wal mustaghfereena bilashaare,
and those who seek forgiveness are dawn.
رَبَّنا لاتُؤاخِذْنا اِنْ نَسينا اَوْ اَخْطَأْنا
rabbanaa laa to-aakhiznaa in naseenaa aw akhtaanaa,
O our Lord! Hold us not responsible if we forget or make a mistake.
رَبَّنا وَ لاتَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنا اِصْراً
rabbanaa wa laa tahmil a’laynaa isran
O our Lord! Lay not on us a burden
كَما حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنا
kamaa hamaltahu a’lal lazeena min qablenaa,
as You did lay on those before us,
رَبَّنا وَ لا تُحَمِّلْنا ما لا طاقَةَ لَنا بِهِ
rabbanaa wa laa tohammilnaa maa laa taaqata lanaa behi,
and lay not on us that which we have not the strength to bear,
وَ اعْفُ عَنَّا وَ اغْفِرْلَنا وَ ارْحَمْنا اَنْتَ مَوْلانا
wa’fo a’nnaa wagh fir lanaa war hamnaa anta mawlaanaa
pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy on us; You are our Lord,
فَانْصُرْنا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكافِرينَ
fansurnaa a’lal qawmil kaafereen.
so help us then against the people who are unbeliever.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ اَنْ تَخْتِمَ لي بِصالِحِ الْاَعْمالِ
allaahumma innee asaloka an takhtema lee be-saalehil a-a’maale,
O Allah! I request You to end my life with deeds of virtue
وَ اَنْ تُعْطِيَني الَّذي سَأَلْتُكَ في دُعائي
wa an to’teyanil lazee sa-a’ltoka fi dua'e
and bestow upon me what I have beseeched You for,
yaa kareemal fe-a’ale,
O the Doer of good deeds !
سُبْحانَ رَبِّ الْعِّزَّةِ لَهُ دَعْوَةُ الْحَقِّ
subhaana rabbil i’zzate, lahu da’watul haqqe
Glory be to the Lord of Majesty, to Him alone is due the true prayer,
وَ الَّذينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ لايَسْتَجيبُونَ
wal lazeena yad-o’ona min doonehi laa yastajeeboona
and those to whom they pray besides Him give not any answer to them
لَهُمْ بِشَيْ ءٍ اِلاَّ كَباسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ اِلَى الْماءِ
lahum be-shay-in illaa kabaasete kaffayhe elal maa-e
but they are like one who stretches his tow hands towards water
لِيَبْلُغَ فاهُ وَ ما هُوَ بِبالِغِهِ
leyablogha faaho wa maa howa bebaaleghehi
that it may reach his mouth but it will not reach;
وَ ما دُعاءُ الْكافِرينَ اِلاَّ في ضَلالٍ
wa maa doa’a- ul kaafereena illaa fee zalaalin,
and the prayer of the infidels does nothing but leads far astray.
وَ لِلهِ يَسْجُدُ مَنْ فِي السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ
wa lillaahe yasjodo man fis samaawaate wal arze
And what ever is in the Heavens and the Earth,
طَوْعاً وَ كَرْهاً وَ ظِلالُهُمْ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَ الْاصالِ
taw-a’n wa karhan wa zelaahohum bilghoduwwe wal aasaal.
willingly or by constraint, does prostate in worship to Allah, so do their shadows at morning and evening.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ اَنْ تَرْأَفَ لي وَ تَرْحَمَني
allaahumma innee as-aloka an tarafa bee, wa tarhamanee
O Allah! I beseech You to have compassion and mercy on me,
yaa raoofo yaa raheemo,
O the compassionate ! O the Most Merciful.
اَوَ لَم يَرَوْا اِلى ما خَلَقَ اللهُ مِنْ شَيْ ءٍ يَتَفَيَّؤُا ظِلالُهُ عَنِ الْيَمينِ وَ الشَّمائِلِ
awa lam yaraw elaa maa khalaqal laaho min shay-in yatafayyao zelalohu a'nil yameene was-shemaale
Do they not see what Allah has created that everything turns its shadow to the right and to the left,
سُجَّداً لِلهِ وَ هُمْ داخِرُونَ
sujjadan lillaahe wa hum daakheroona,
prostrating in obedience to Allah while they lie abased ?
وَ لِلهِ يَسْجُدُ ما فِي السَّماواتِ وَ ما فِي الْاَرْضِ
wa lillaahe yasjodo maa fis samaawaate wa maa fil arze
And whatever is in the Heavens and whatever is in the Earth,
مِنْ دابَّةٍ وَ الْمَلائِكَةُ وَ هُمْ لايَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
min daabbatin, wal malaaekato wa hum laa yastakberoona,
and of the moving creatures, and the angels too prostate in obedience to Allah and the Angels pride not.
يَخافُونَ رَبَّهُمْ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ
yakhaafoona rabbahum min fawqehim
The Angels fear their Lord supreme above them
وَ يَفْعَلُونَ ما يُؤْمَرُونَ
wa yafa’loona maa yoamaroon.
and do what they are commanded.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena yoamenoona bilghaybe
O Allah! Make me of those believe in the Unseen,
وَ يُقيمُونَ الصَّلاةِ وَ يُؤْتُونَ الزَّكاةَ
wa yoqeemoonas salaata wa yoatoonaz zakaata,
and establish the prayers, and pay the Zakaat,
وَ يُوْمِنُونَ بِما اَنْزَلْتَ
wa yoamenoona bemaa anzalta,
and believe in that which You have sent down,
فَاِنَّكَ اَنْزَلْتَهُ قُرْاناً عَرَبِيّاً بِالْحَقِّ
fa-innaka anzaltahu qur-aanan a’rabiyyan bil-haq.
and You have revealed the Quran in Arabic with Truth;
قُلْ امِنُوا بِهِ اَوْ لاتُؤمِنُوا
qul aamenoo behi aw laa toamenoo
and say: believe in it or believe not;
اِنَّ الَّذينَ اُوتُواالْعِلْمَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ
innal lazeena ootul i’lma min qablehi
verily those who are already given the knowledge from before
اِذا يُتْلى عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْاَذْقانِ سُجَّداً
ezaa yutlaa a’layhim yakhirroona lilazqaane sujjadan,
when it is recited to them, they fall down on their faces prostrating in obedience,
وَ يَقُولُونَ سُبْحانَ رَبِّنا
wa yaqooloona: subhaana rabbenaa
and they say: Glorious is our Lord,
اِنْ كانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنا لَمَفْعُولاً
in kaana wa’do rabbenaa la-maf-o’olaa,
verily the promise of our Lord was a certainty to be fulfilled
وَ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْاَذْقانِ يَبْكُونَ
wa yakhirroona lilazqaane yabkoona
and they fall down on their face weeping
wa yazeedohum khoshooa’a.
and the listening to the Quran increases their humility.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena an-a’nta a’lyhim
O Allah! Make me of those on whom You bestowed Your bounties
مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ ادَمَ وَ مِمَّنْ حَمَلْنا مَعَ نُوحٍ
min zurriyyate aadama, wa mimmman hamalnaa maa’ noohin,
from among the Prophets of the posterity of Adam; and of those who we carried with Noah,
وَ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ اِبْراهيمَ وَ اِسْرائيلَ
wa min zurriyyate ibraaheema wa Israa-eel.
and the posterity of Ibrahim and Israel.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena ana’mta a’layhim
O Allah! Make me of those on whom You bestowed Your bounties
مِنَ النَّبِيّينَ وَ الصِّدّيقينَ وَ الشُّهَداء
menan nabiyyeena was siddeeqeena wash shohadaa-e
from among the Prophets, the truthfuls, the martyrs
ِ وَ حَسُنَ اُولئِكَ رَفيقاً
wa hasona oolaaeka rafeeqaa.
and the righteous ones and excellent are these as companions!
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِمَّنْ هَدَيْتَ وَ اجْتَبَيْتَ
allaahummaj a’lnee mimman hadayta waj tabayta,
O Allah! Make me of those whom You guided and chose,
وَ مِنْ الَّذينَ اِذا تُتْلى عَلَيْهِمْ اياتُ الرَّحْمانِ خَرُّوا سُجَّداً وَ بُكِيّاً
wa menal lazeena ezaa yutlaa a’layhim aayaatur rahmaane kharroo sujjadan wa bokiyyaa.
and of those who when verses of Rahman are recited on them, fall down prostrating in obedience and weeping.
اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ يُسَبِّحُونَ لَكَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهارِ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena yosabbehoona laka bil-layle wan nahaare,
O Allah! Make me of those who glorify You by night and the day,
لايَفْتُرُونَ مِنْ ذِكْرِكَ وَ لا يَسْأَمُونَ مِنْ عِبادَتِكَ
laa yaftoroona min zikreka, wa laa yasamoona min e’baadateka,
they intermit not in their utterances of Your remembrance, and they get not tired not in their devotional worship to You.
يُسَبِّحُونَ لَكَ وَ لَكَ يَسْجُدُونَ
yosabbehoona laka wa laka yasjodoona.
They glorify You and to You prostrate in obedience.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْني مِنَ الَّذينَ يَذْكُرُونَكَ
allaahummaj a’lnee menal lazeena yazkoroonaka
O Allah! And make me of those who remember You
قِياماً وَ قُعُوداً وَ عَلى جُنُوبِهِمْ
qeyaaman wa qoo’odan wa a’laa jonoobehim
standing and sitting, and reclining on their sides,
وَ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ في خَلْقِ السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرْضِ
wa yatafakkaroona fee khalqis samaawaate wal arze
and ponder seriously in the creation of the Heavens and Earth;
رَبَّنا ما خَلَقْتَ هذا باطِلاً
rabbanaa maa khalaqta haazaa baatelaa
saying : O our Lord! You have not created all this in vain.
سُبْحانَكَ فَقِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
subhaanaka faqenaa a’zaaban naar.
Glory be to You. Save us from the torment of the Hellfire!
رَبَّنا اِنَّكَ مَنْ تُدْخِلِ النّارَ فَقَدْ اَخْزَيْتَهُ
rabbanaa innaka man tudkhelin-naara faqad akhzaytahu,
O our Lord! Whomsoever You cause to enter the Hell, surely You have disgraced him.
وَ ما لِلظَّالِمينَ مِنْ اَنْصارٍ
wa maa lizzaalemeena min ansaar.
There is not for the unjust any of the helper.
رَبَّنا اِنَّنا سَمِعْنا مُنادِياً يُنادي
rabbanaa innanaa same’naa monaadeyayn yonaadee
O our Lord! We have indeed heard the voice of a crier,
لِلْايمانِ اَنْ امِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ فَامَنَّا
lil-eemaane an aamenoo berabbekum faaamannaa,
the Messenger, calling us to faith, saying : "Believe in Your Lord" and we did believe.
رَبَّنا فَاغْفِرْلَنا ذُنُوبَنا
rabbanaa faghfir lanaa zonoobanaa
O our Lord! You therefore forgive us our sins,
وَ كَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّئاتِنا
wa kaffir a’nnaa sayye-aatenaa
and remove away from us our evil deeds,
وَ تَوَفَّنا مَعَ الْاَبْرارِ
wa tawaffanaa ma-a’l abraar.
and cause us to die with the virtuous ones.
رَبَّنا وَ اتِنا ما وَعَدْتَنا عَلى رُسُلِكَ
rabbanaa wa aatenaa ma waa’ttanaa a’laa rosoleka
O our Lord! And give us what You promised us through Your Messenger,
وَ لا تُخْزِنا يَوْمَ الْقِيامَةِ
wa laa tukhzenaa yawmal qeyaamah,
and disgrace us not on the day of resurrection;
اِنَّكَ لاتُخْلِفُ الْميعادَ
innaka laa tukhleful mee-a’ad.
Verily, You break not Your promise.
اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ اللهَ يَسْجُدُ لَهُ
alam tara annal laaha yasjodo lahu
Do you not see that Allah is he to Him prostrates
مَنْ فِي السَّماواتِ وَ مَنْ فِي الْاَرْضِ
man fis samaawaate wa man fil arze
whatsoever is in the Heavens, and whatsoever is in the Earth,
وَ الشَّمْسُ وَ الْقَمَرُ وَ النُّجُومُ
wash shamso wal qamaro wan nojoomo
and the Sun, and the moon, and the stars,
وَ الْجِبالُ وَ الشَّجَرُ وَ الدَّوابُّ وَ كَثيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ
wal jebaalo wash shajaro wad dawaaabbo wa kaserum menan naas,
and the mountains, and the trees, and animals, and many of the people;
وَ كَثيرٌ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ الْعَذابُ
wa kaserun haqqa a’layhil a’zaab,
and many there are to whom, chastisement has became due
وَ مَنْ يُهِنِ اللهُ فَما لَهُ مِنْ مُكْرِمٍ
wa many yohenil laaho famaa lahu mim mukrem,
and whomsoever Allah abases, there is none to honour him,
اِنَّ اللهَ يَفْعَلُ ما يَشاءُ
innal laaha yaf-a’lo maa yashaaa.
verily Allah does what He wills.
اَلَّذي خَلَقَ السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرضَ في سِتَّةِ اَيَّامٍ
al-laze khalaqas samaawaate wal arza fe sittate ayyaamin
It is He Who created the Heavens and the Earth in six days,
ثُمَّ اسْتَوى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ الرَّحْمانِ
summas tawaa a’lal a’rsh, ar-rahmaano
and then firmly established on the Throne His authority; the Beneficent;
fas-al behi khabeera.
You ask about Him from the one who is aware.
وَ اِذا قيلَ لَهُمُ اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمانِ
wa ezaa qeela lahomus jodoo lirrahmaane
And when it is said to them "prostrate you in obedience to 'Rahman' (the Beneficent i.e. Allah)",
قالُوا وَ مَا الرَّحْمانُ اَنَسْجُدُ لِما تَأْمُرُنا
qaaloo wa mar rahmaan, anasjodo lemaa taamoronaa
they say: shall we prostrate in obedience to what you bid us ?
wa zaadahum nofooraa.
and it only adds to their flight from the truth.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ يا وَلِىَّ الصَّالِحينَ
allaahumma innee asaloka yaa waliyyas saaleheena
O Allah! O the Friend of the virtuous!
اَنْ تَخْتِمَ لي بِصالِحِ الْاَعْمالِ
an takhtema lee besaalehil a-a’maale,
I beseech You to end my life with good deeds,
وَ اَنْ تَسْتَجيبَ دُعائي وَ تُعْطِيَني سُؤلي
wa an tastajeeba do-a’aaee, wa to’teyanee soalee
and to accept my invocation, and grant me my request,
وَ مَنْ يُعْنيني أَمْرُهُ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمين
wa man yo’neenee amrohu yaa arhamar raahemeen.
and succour me in the affair that distresses me, O the Most Merciful!
