Supplication 139- Day 16 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ اِنّي اَسْأَلُكَ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma innee asaloka laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, I ask You, there is no god but You,
بِاسْمِكَ الَّذي عَزَمْتَ بِهِ
bismekal lazee a’zamta behi
By Your Name through which You determined (upon the creation of)
عَلىَ السَّماواتِ السَّبْعِ وَ الْاَرَضينَ السَّبْعِ
a’las samaawaatis sab-e’ wal arazeenas sab-e’
the seven heavens and seven earth
وَ ما خَلَقْتَ فيهِما مِنْ شَيْ ءٍ
wa maa khalaqta feehemaa min shay-in,
and the things You created in them:
وَ اَسْتَجيرُ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
was tajeero beo zaalekal isme,
I seek protection by that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta,
O Allah, there is no god but You;
وَ اَدْعوُكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
ado’oka be-zaalekal isme,
I call on You with that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta,
O Allah, there is no god but You;
وَ اَلْجَأُ اِلَيْكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa alja-a elayka bezaalekal isme,
I seek refuge in You with that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta,
O Allah, there is no god but You;
وَ اَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa atawakkalo a’layka be-zaalekal isme,
I rely on You with that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اَسْتَعينُ بِكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa asta-e’eno beka bezaalekal isme,
I ask for Your help by that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta,
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اُؤْمِنُ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa oa-meno bezaalekal isme,
I become secured through that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اَسْتَغيثُ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa as-tagheeso bezaalekal ilsme,
I seek aid by that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اَتُوبُ اِلَيْكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa atubo elayka bezaalekal isme,
I repent to You by that Name
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَيْكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa ataqarrabo elayka bezaalekal isme,
I seek nearness to You by that Name
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اَتَقَوَّى بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa ataqawwaa bezaalekal isme,
I strengthen myself through that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
وَ اَتَضَرَّعُ اِلَيْكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ
wa atazarra-o’ elayka bezaalekal isme,
I humbly beseech You by that Name,
اَللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
O Allah, there is no god but You:
يا اَللهُ يا اَللهُ يا اَللهُ لا شَريكَ لَكَ
yaa allaaho yaa allaaho yaa allaaho laa shareeka laka
O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, no partner have You:
يا كَريمُ يا كَريمُ يا كَريمُ
yaa kareemo yaa kareemo yaa kareemo,
O All-generous, All-generous, All-generous,
اَسْأَلُكَ بِكَرَمِكَ وَ مَجْدِكَ وَ جُودِكَ
as-aloka bekarameka wa majdeka wa joodeka
I ask You by Your Noblity, Your Glory, Your Generosity,
وَ فَضْلِكَ وَ مَنِّكَ وَ رَأْفَتِكَ
wa fazleka wa manneka wa raa-fateka
Your Bounty, Your Grace, Your Compassion,
وَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ جَمالِكَ
wa maghferateka wa rahmateka wa jamaaleka
Your Forgiveness, Your Mercy, Your Beauty,
وَ جَلالِكَ وَ عِزَّتِكَ وَ جَبَرُوتِكَ وَ عَظَمَتِكَ
wa jalaaleka wa i’zzateka wa a’zamateka
Your Majesty, Your Honour, Your Invincibility and Your Might
لِما اَوْجَبْتَ عَلى نَفْسِكَ
lemaa awjabta a’laa nafsekal
Because of what You have made incumbent on Yourself –
الَّتي كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْها الرَّحْمَةَ اَنْ تَقُولَ
latee katabta a’layhar rahmata an taqoola:
for which You have prescribed mercy (Ref. 6:12)
قَدْ اتَيْتُكَ عَبْدي ما سَأَلْتَني في عافِيَةٍ
qad aataytoka a’bdee maa sa-altanee fee a’afeyatin,
That You say; I have given you, my servant, what you have asked Me, in well-being,
وَ اَدَمْتُها لَكَ ما اَحْيَيْتُكَ
wa adamtohaa laka maa ahyaytoka
and I have made it endure for you as long as you live,
حَتَّى اَتَوَفَّاكَ في عافِيَةٍ وَ رِضْوانٍ
hattaa atawaffaaka fee a’afeyatin wa rizwaanin
until I cause you to die in well-being and well-pleased,
وَ اَنْتَ لِنِعْمَتي مِنَ الشَّاكِرينَ اَسْتَجيرُبِكَ
wa anta le-ne’matee menash shaakereena, astajeero beka
while you are among those thankful for My blessings. I seek Your help,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَلُوذُ بِكَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta, wa aloozo beka
O Allah, there is no god but You, I seek refuge in You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَسْتَغيثُ بِكَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta, wa as-tagheeso beka
O Allah, there is no god but You, I seek aid through You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta, atawakkalo a’layka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I rely on You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اُؤْمِنُ بِكَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta, wa oa-meno beka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I become secure through You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَيْكَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta, wa ataqarrabo elayka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I seek nearness to You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَرْغَبُ اِلَيْكَ
allaahumma laa elaahaa illaa anta, wa arghabo elayka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I humbly request You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَدْعُوكَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta, wa ad-o’oka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I call on You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَتَضَرَّعُ اِلَيْكَ
allaahumma laa elaahaa illaa anta, wa atazarra-o’ elayka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I beseech You,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَ اَسْأَلُكَ
allaahumma laa elaahaa illaa anta, wa as-aloka
O Allah, there is no god but You: I ask you
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta be-wajhekal kareem,
O Allah, there is no god but You By Your All-generous Countenance,
يا كَريمُ يا كَريمُ يا كَريمُ
yaa kareemo yaa kareemo yaa kareemo,
O All-generous, O all-generous, O All generous,
يا رَحْمانُ يا رَحْمانُ يا رَحْمانُ
yaa rahmaano yaa rahmaano, yaa rahmaan,
O Merciful, O Merciful, O Merciful.
اَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْت
as-aloka allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
I ask You, O Allah, there is no god but You,
فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
fainnahu laa elaaha illaa anta,
For surely there is no god but You,
يا رَحيمُ يا رَحيمُ يا رَحيمُ
yaa raheemo yaa reheemo yaa raheem,
O Compassionate, O Compassionate, O Compassionate,
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
wa as-aloka allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
I ask You, O Allah, there is no god but You,
فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
fainnahu laa elaaha illaa anta
For surely there is no god but You,
بِكُلِّ قَسَمٍ اَقْسَمْتَهُ في اُمِّ الْكِتابِ الْمَكْنُونِ
bekulle qasamin aqsamtahu fee ummil ketaabil maknoone
By every oath You have sworn in Essence of the hidden Book
اَوْ في زُبُرِ الْاَوَّلينَ اَوْ فِي الزَّبُورِ
aw fee zoboril awwaleena aw fiz zaboore,
or in the former divine Books, or in the Zabur
اَوْ فِي الْاَلْواحِ اَوْ فِي التَّوْراةِ اَوْ فِي الْاِنْجيلِ
aw fil alwaahe aw fit tawraate, aw fil injeele,
Or in the scrolls, or in the Torah, or in the Injil,
اَوْ فِي الْكِتابِ الْمُبينِ وَ الْقُرْانِ الْعَظيمِ
aw fil ketaabil mobeene wal qur-aanil a’zeeme,
Or in the “...manifest Book” (12:1) and the “...mighty Qur’an” (15:87),
يا رَحْمانُ يا رَحيمُ وَ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ
yaa rahmaano yaa raheemo, wa atawajjaho elayka
O Merciful, O Compassionate, I turn to You O Allah,
اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma laa elaaha illaa anta fainnahu laa elaaha illaa anta,
There is no god but You, For surely there is no god but You,
بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ
be-nabiyyeka mohammadin nabiyyir rahmate
By Your Prophet, Muhammad, The Prophet of mercy,
صَلَواتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ الطَّيِّبينَ الطَّاهِرينَ
salawatoka a’layhe wa aalehit tayyebeenat taahereenal
Blessed salutations on him and his family, the good, the pure,
الْاَخْيارِ الصَّلَواتِ الْمُبارَكاتِ
akhyaaris salawaatul mobaarakaato,
the excellent, the good, the best prayers
يا مُحَمَّدُ بِاَبي اَنْتَ وَ اُمّي
yaa mohammado, be-abee anta wa ummee
O Muhammad, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you.
اِنّي اَتَوَجَّهُ بِكَ في حاجَتي هذِهِ اِلَى اللهِ
innee atawajjaho beka fee haajatee haazehi elal laahe
I turn to you in this request of mine to Allah,
رَبِّكَ وَ رَبِّيَ الرَّحْمانِ الرَّحيمِ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ هُوَ
rabbeka wa rabbeyar rahmaanir raheeme, laa elaaha illaa howa,
your Lord and my Lord, the Merciful, the Compassionate, there is not god but He.
اَسْأَلُكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
as-aloka bezaalekal ismil laahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
I ask You by that Name, O Allah, there is no god but You,
فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
fainnahu laa elaaha illaa anta,
For surely there is no god but You,
يا بَدي ءُ لا بَدْءَ لَكَ يا دائِمُ لا نَفادَ لَكَ
yaa badee-o laa bad-a laka, yaa daa-emo laa nafaada laka,
O Originator, no beginning have You, O Everlasting, no end have You,
يا حَىُّ يا مُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتى
yaa hayyo yaa mohyeyal mawtaa,
O living O “...Quickener of the dead...” (30:50),
اَنْتَ الْقائِمُ عَلى كُلِّ نَفْسٍ بِما كَسَبَتْ
antal qaaemo a’laa kulle nafsin bemaa kasabat
You “...stand over every soul for what it has earned...” (13:33);
yaa rahmaano yaa raheemo.
O Merciful, O Compassionate
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
wa as-aloka bezaalekal ismil laahumma laa elaaha illaa anta,
I ask You by that Name, O Allah, there is no god but You,
فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ الْواحِدُ الْاَحَدُ
fa-innahu laa elaaha illaa antal waahedul ahadus
For surely there is no god but You, the One, the Sole,
الصَّمَدُ الْوِتْرُ الْمُتَعالِ
samadul watrul mo-taa’alul
the Everlasting Refuge, the Single, The Exalted
الَّذي يَمْلَأُ السَّماواتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ
lazee yamla-us samaawaate wal arza,
who fills the havens and the earth:
وَ بِاسْمِكَ الْفَرْدِ الَّذي لايَعْدِلُهُ شَيْ ءٌ
wa bismekal fardil lazee laa ya’delohu shay-un
And by Your Unique Name which nothing equals,
yaa rahmaano yaa raheemo,
O Merciful, O Compassionate
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِذلِكَ الْاِسْمِ اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
wa asaloka be-zaalekal ismil laahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
I ask You by that Name, O Allah, there is no god but You,
فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
fa-innahu laa elaaha illaa anta,
for surely there is no god but You;
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ الْبَشَرِ وَ رَبَّ اِبْراهيمَ
as-alokal laahumma rabbal bashare, wa rabba ibraaheema,
I ask You, O Allah, Lord of mankind and Lord of Ibrahim
وَ رَبَّ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِاللهِ خاتَمِ النَّبِيّينَ
wa rabba mohammadibne a’bdil laahe khaatamin nabiyyeena
and Lord of Muhammad b. ‘ Abd Allah, the seal of the Prophets,
اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهِ
an tosalleya a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
to bless Muhammad and his family.
وَ اَنْ تَرْحَمَني وَ والِدَيَّ وَ اَهْلِي وَ وُلْدي
wa an tarhamanee wa waaledayya wa ahlee wa wuldee
And to have mercy on me and my parents, my family, my children
وَ اِخْواني مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنينَ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
wa ikhwaanee menal moameneena yaa arhamar raahmeen,
and my brothers among the believers, O Most merciful of the merciful,
فَاِنّي اُؤْمِنُ بِكَ وَ بِاَنْبِيائِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ
fainnee oa-meno beka wa be-anbeyaa-eka wa rosoleka,
for I believe in You and Your Prophets, Your Messengers,
وَ جَنَّتِكَ وَ نارِكَ وَ بَعْثِكَ وَ نُشُورِكَ
wa jannateka wa naareka wa ba’seka wa noshooreka
Your Garden, Your Fire, Your Resurrection, Your raising to life,
وَ وَعْدِكَ وَ وَعيدِكَ وَ كُتُبِكَ
wa wa’deka wa wa-e’edeka wa kotobeka
Your promise, Your threat, and Your Books
وَ اُقِرُّ بِما جاءَ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَ اَرْضى بِقَضائِكَ
wa oqirro bemaa jaa-a min i’ndeka, wa arzaa be-qazaa-eka,
I affirm what has come from You and I am satisfied with Your decree,
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لا شَريكَ لَكَ
wa ash-hado an laa elaaha illaa anta wahdaka laa shareeka laka,
And I bear witness that there is no god but You alone, No partner have You,
وَ لا ضِدَّ لَكَ وَ لا نِدَّ لَكَ وَ لا وَزيرَ لَكَ
wa laa zidda laka, wa laa nidda laka wa laa wazeera laka,
No equal have You, no rival have You, no vicegerent have You,
وَ لا صاحِبَةَ لَكَ وَ لا وَلَدَ لَكَ وَ لا مِثْلَ لَكَ
wa laa saahebata laka, wa laa walada laka, wa laa misla laka,
No consort have You, no son have You, No like have You,
وَ لا شِبْهَ لَك وَ لا سَمِيَّ لَكَ
wa laa shib-ha laka wa laa samiyya laka
no similarity have You, no equal have You;
وَ لا تُدْرِكُكَ الْاَبْصارُ
wa laa tudrekokal absaaro,
Vision perceives You not (Ref. 6:103),
وَ اَنْتَ اللَّطيفُ الْخَبيرُ
wa antal lateeful khabeero,
and You are “...the All-subtle, the All-aware” (6:103).
وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُولُكَ
wa ash-hado anna mohammadn a’bdoka wa rasooloka
I bear witness that Muhammad is Your servant and Your Messenger,
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ الِهِ الطَّيِّبينَ الطَّاهِرينَ
sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehit tayyebeenat taahereena,
blessings of Allah on him and his family, the good, the pure,
وَ السَّلامُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكاتُهُ
was salaamo a’layhim wa rahmatul laahe wa barakaatohu,
and peace be on them and the mercy and blessings of Allah...
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
wa asalokal laahumma laa elaaha illaa anta
I ask You, O Allah, there is no god but You,
فَاِنَّهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
fainnahu laa elaaha illaa anta,
For there is no god but You,
يا حَنَّانُ يا مَنَّانُ يا ذَاالْجَلالِ وَ الْاِكْرامِ
yaa hannaano yaa mannaano yaa zal jalaale wal ikraame,
O Merciful, O Bountiful, O “...Possessor of Majesty and Honour (55:78)
يا اِلهي وَ سَيِّدي يا حَىُّ يا قَيُّومُ
yaa elaahee wa sayyedee yaa hayyo yaa qayyoomo,
O my God and my Master, O Living, O Eternal,
يا كَريمُ يا غَنِىُّ يا حَىُّ، لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
yaa kareemo yaa ghaniyyo yaa hayyo laa elaaha illaa anta,
O All-generous, O Self-sufficient, O Living, there is no god but You,
يا رَحْمانُ يا رَحيمُ لا شَريكَ لَكَ
yaa rahmaano yaa raheemo, laa shareeka laka.
O Merciful, O Compassionate, no partner have You:
يا اِلهي وَ سَيِّدي، لَكَ الْحَمْدُ شُكْراً
yaa elaahee wa sayyedee, lakal hamdo shukran,
O my God and my Master, to You belongs praise through gratitude,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ شُكْراً
wa lakal hamdo shukran,
And to You belongs praise through gratitude,
فَاسْتَجِبْ لي في جَميعِ ما اَدْعُوكَ بِهِ
fastajib lee fee jameee’ maa ad-o’oka behi,
So answer me in all that for which I call upon You,
وَ ارْحَمْني مِنَ النَّارِ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
war hamnee menan naare yaa arhamar raahemeen,
and have mercy on me from the Fire, O Most merciful of the merciful.
وَصَلّٰي اللهُ عَلٰي سَيـِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِهٖ
wa sallal laaho a’laa sayyedenaa mohammadin wa aalehi.
and bless our master, Muhammad and his family.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِيْ مِنْ اَفْضَلِ عِبَادِكَ نَصِيْبًا
allaahumaj a’lnee min afzale e’baadeka naseeban
O Allah, make me among Your most excellent servants by my share
فِي كُلِّ خَيْرٍ تَقْسِمُهٗ فِي هٰذِهِ الْغَدَاةِ
fee kulle khayrin taqsemohu fee haazehil ghadaate
in every good that You allot this morning
مِنْ نُوْرٍتَهْدِي بِهٖ اَوْ رَحْمَةٍ تُنْشِرُهَا
min noorin tahdee behi, aw rahmatin tanshorohaa,
Of light through which Your guide or of mercy which You unfold
اَوْ عَافِيَةٍ تُجَلِّلُهَا اَوْ رِزْقٍ تَبْسُطُهٗ
aw a’afeyatin tojallelohaa, aw rizqin tabsodohu,
or soundness which You bestow or sustenance You outspread
اَوْ ذَنْبٍ تَغْفِرُهٗ اَوْ عَمَلٍ صاَلِحٍ تُوَفِّقُ لَهٗ
aw zanbin taghferohu, aw a’malin saalehin towaffeqo lahu,
or sin that You forgive or good deed to which You dispose,
اَوْ عُدُوٍّ تَقْمَعُهٗ اَوْ بَلآءٍتَصْرِ فَهٗ
aw a’duwwin taqma-o’hu, aw balaa-in tasrefahu,
or enemy You subdue, or trial You turn away,
اَوْ نَحْسٍ تُحَوِّلُهٗ اِلٰي سَعَادَةٍ
aw nahesin tohawwelohu elaa sa a’adatin
or misfortune You transform to good fortune,
يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْْنَ
yaa arhamar raahemeen.
O Most Merciful of the merciful.
