Supplication 136- Day 13 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
سُبْحانَ الرَّفيعِ الْاَعْلى
subhaanar rafee-i’l a-a’laa,
Glory be to the Exalted, the Most High,
سُبْحانَ مَنْ قَضى بِالْمَوْتِ عَلَى الْعِبادِ
subhaana man qazaa bil-mawte a’lal e’baade,
Glory be to the One Who decrees death for mankind,
سُبْحانَ الْقاضي بِالْحَقِّ
subhaanal qaazee bil-haqqe,
Glory be to the One Who judges with the Truth;
سُبْحانَ الْمَلِكِ الْمُقْتَدِرِ
subhaanal malekil muqtadere,
Glory be to the King, the Powerful;
سُبْحانَ اللهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ
subhaanal laahe wa be-hamdehi
Glory be to Allah, and Praise belongs to Him –
حَمْداً يَبْقى بَعْدَ الْفَناءِ
hamdan yabqaa ba’dal fanaae,
a praise which endures after nothingness
وَ يَنْمي في كَفَّةِ الْميزانِ لِلْجَزاءِ
wa yunmaa fee kaffatil meezaane lil-jazaa-e
and multiplies in the scale of the balance of recompense,
تَسْبيحاً كَما يَنْبَغي لِكَرَمِ وَجْهِهِ وَ عِزِّ جَلالِهِ
tasbeehan kamaa yanbaghee lekarame wajhehi, wa i’zze jalaalehi,
As befits the Nobility of His Countenance and the Power of His Majesty and the magnificence of His reward.
wa a’zeeme sawaabehi,
through glorification,
سُبْحانَ مَنْ تَواضَعَ كُلُّ شَيْ ءٍ لِعَظَمَتِهِ
subhaana man tawaaza-a’ kullo shay-in lea’zamatehi,
Glory be to the One before Whose Might everything abases itself,
سُبْحانَ مَنِ اسْتَسْلَمَ كُلُّ شَيْ ءٍ لِقُدْرَتِهِ
subhaana manis taslama kullo shay-in le-qudratehi,
Glory be to the One to Whose Power everything is submissive;
سُبْحانَ مَنْ خَضَعَ كُلُّ شَيْ ءٍ لِمُلْكِهِ
subhaana man khazaa’ kullo shay-in lemulkehi,
Glory be to the One to Whose Dominion everything is humbled
سُبْحانَ مَنِ انْقادَتْ لَهُ الْاُمُورُ بِاَزِمَّتِها طَوْعاً لِاَمْرِهِ
subhaana manin qadat lahul omooro beazimmatehaa tau'ann le amrehi
Glory be to the One by Whom the accomplishment of affairs is directed;
سُبْحانَ مَنْ مَلَأَ الْاَرْضَ قُدْسُهُ
subhaana man malaal arza qudsohu,
Glory be to the One Whose Sanctity fills the earth,
سُبْحانَ مَنْ اَشْرَقَ كُلُّ ظُلْمَةٍ بِنُورِهِ
subhaana man ashraqa kulla zulmatin be-noorehi,
Glory be to the One Who illuminates every darkness with His Light.
سُبْحانَ مَنْ لايُدانُ بِغَيْرِ دينِهِ
subhaana man laa yodaano be-ghayre deenehi,
Glory be to the One Who is not served with other than His religion.
سُبْحانَ مَنْ قَدَّرَ بِقُدْرَتِهِ كُلَّ قَدَرٍ
subhaana man qaddara bequdratehi kulla qadarin
Glory be to the One Who determines with His Power every measure;
وَ قُدْرَتُهُ فَوْقَ كُلِّ ذي قُدْرَةٍ
wa qudratohu fawka kulle zi-qudratin
His Power is over everything possessed of power
وَ لا يَقْدِرُ اَحَدٌ قُدْرَتَهُ
wa laa yaqdero ahadun qudratahu,
and none can estimate His Power
سُبْحانَ مَنْ اَوَّلُهُ حُكْمٌ لا يُوصَفُ
subhaana man awwalohu hukmun laa yoosafo
Glory be to the One Whose first is a decree that cannot be described,
وَ اخِرُهُ عِلْمٌ لايَبيدُ
wa aakherohu i’lmun laa yabeedo,
and Whose last is a knowledge that does not end.
سُبْحانَ مَنْ هُوَ عالِمٌ مُطَّلِعٌ بِغَيْرِ جَوارِحَ
subhaana man howa a’alemun muttale-u’n be-ghayre jawaarehin,
Glory be to the One Who is Knowing, Aware without (the use of) limbs and organs;
سُبْحانَ مَنْ لا تَخْفى عَلَيْهِ خافِيَةٌ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَ لا فِي السَّماءِ
subhaana man laa takhfaa a’layhe khaafeyatun fil arze, wa laa fis samaa-e,
Glory be to the One from Whom is hidden no secret in the earth or in the heaven.
سُبْحانَ الرَّبِّ الْوَدُودِ
subhaanar rabbil wadoode,
Glory be to the Loving Lord
سُبْحانَ الْفَرْدِ الْوِتْرِ
subhaanal fardil witre,
Glory be to the Single, the One,
سُبْحانَ الْعَظيمِ الْاَعْظَمِ
subhaanal a’zeemil aa’zame,
Glory be to the All-mighty, the Most Majestic
سُبْحانَ مَنْ هُوَ رَحيمٌ لايَعْجَلُ
subhaana man howa raheemun laa ya’jalo,
Glory be to the One who is Merciful and does not hasten (in punishment),
سُبْحانَ مَنْ هُوَ قائِمٌ لايَغْفُلُ
subhaana man howa qaa-emun laa yaghfolo,
Glory be to the One who Manages (afairs) and is not heedless;
سُبْحانَ مَنْ هُوَ جَوادٌ لا يَبْخَلُ
subhaana man howa jawaadun laa yabkhalo,
Glory be to the One who is generous and not niggardly
اَنْتَ الَّذي فِي السَّماءِ عَظَمَتُكَ
antal lazee fis samaa-e a’zamatoka,
You are He Whose Might is in the heaven,
وَ فِي الْاَرْضِ قُدْرَتُكَ
wa fil arze qudratoka,
Whose Power is in the earth,
وَ فِي الْبَحْرِ عَجائِبُكَ
wa fil bahre a’jaaeboka,
Whose wonders are in the sea
وَ فِي الظُّلُماتِ نُورُكَ
wa fiz zolomaate nooroka,
and Whose Light is in the darkness.
سُبْحانَكَ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ اِنّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمينَ
subhaanaka laa elaaha illaa anta innee kunto menaz zaalemeen,
Glory be to You, there is no god but You, “...I have been one of the unjust.” (21:87)
سُبْحانَ ذِي الْعِزِّ الشَّامِخِ
subhaana zil i’zzish shaame-khe,
Glory be to the Possessor of exalted Might,
سُبْحانَ ذِي الْجَلالِ وَ الْاِكْرامِ
subhaana zil jalaale wal ikraame,
Glory be to “...the Possessor of Majesty and Honour.” (55:78)
subhaanaka yaa quddooso
Glory be to You, O All-Holy,
اَسْأَلُكَ بِمَنِّكَ يا مَنَّانُ
as-aloka be-manneka yaa mannaano,
I ask You by Your Grace, O Most Gracious,
وَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ يا قَديرُ
wa bequdrateka yaa qadeero,
and by Your Power, O All-Powerful,
وَ بِحِلْمِكَ يا حَليمُ وَ بِعِلْمِكَ يا عَليمُ
wa behilmeka yaa haleemo, wa be-i’lmeka yaa a’leemo,
And by Your Forbearance, O Most Forbearing, and by Your Knowledge, O All-Knowing,
وَ بِعَظَمَتِكَ يا عَظيمُ
wa bea’zamateka yaa a’zeemo
and by Your Might, O All-Mighty.
(Repeat the following 3 times each)
- يا حَقُّ - يا باعِثُ - يا وارِثُ - يا حَىُّ
yaa haqqo, yaa ba-e’so, yaa waareso, yaa hayyo,
O Truth, O Resurrector, O Inheritor, O Living,
- يا قَيُّومُ - يا اَللهُ - يا رَحْمانُ - يا رَحيمُ
yaa qayyoomo, yaa allaaho, yaa rahmaano, yaa raheemo,
O Everlasting, O Allah, O Merciful, O Compassionate,
يا ذَاالْجَلالِ و الْاِكْرامِ - يا رَبَّنا
yaa zal jalaale wal ikraame, yaa rabbanaa,
O “...Possessor of Majesty and Honour” (55:78), O our Lord,
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ
wa asaloka be-wajhekal kareeme
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance,
- يا كَريمُ - يا سَيَّدَنا - يا فَخْرَنا - يا ذُخْرَنا
yaa kareemo, yaa sayyedanaa, yaa fakhranaa, yaa zukhranaa,
O All-generous, O our Chief, O our Pride, O our Repository,
- يا كَنْزَنا - يا قُوَّتَنا - يا عِزَّنا -يا كَهْفَنا
yaa kanzanaa, yaa quwwatanaa, yaa i’zzanaa, yaa kahfanaa,
O our Treasure, O our Strength, O our Might, O our Refuge,
- يا اِلهَنا - يا مَوْلانا - يا خالِقَنا - يا رازِقَنا
yaa elaahanaa, yaa mawlaanaa, yaa khaaleqanaa, yaa raazeqanaa,
O our God, O our Master, O our Creator, O our Sustainer,
- يا مُميتَنا - يا مُحْيِيَنا - يا باعِثَنا
yaa momeetanaa, yaa mohyeenaa, yaa bae’sanaa,
O One who causes us to die, O One who gives us life, O our Resurrector,
- يا وارِثَنا - يا عُدَّتَنا - يا اَمَلَنا
yaa waaresanaa, yaa u’ddatanaa, yaa amalanaa,
O our Inheritor, O our Provision, O our Hope,
- يا رَجائَنا لِدينِنا وَ دُنْيانا وَ اخِرَتِنا
yaa rajaaanaa le-deenenaa wa dunyaanaa wa aakheratanaa,
O our Hope for our religion, our world and our Hereafter,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا حَيُّ
wa asaloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa hayyo,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Living,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا قَيُّومُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa qayyoomo,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Everlasting,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا اَللهُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa allaaho,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Allah,
- يا لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ سُبْحانَكَ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
yaa laa elaaha illaa anta subhaanaka laa elaaha illaa anta,
O You other than whom there is no god, Glory be to You, O You other than whom there is no god,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا رَحيمُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa raheemo,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Compassionate,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا رَحْمانُ
wa as-aloka bewajhekal kareeme yaa rahmaano,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Merciful,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا عَزيزُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa a’zeezo,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Invincible,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا كَبيرُ
wa asaloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa kabeero,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O All-Great,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا مَنَّانُ
wa as-aloka bewajhekal kareeme yaa mannaano,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O All-Gracious,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا تَوَّابُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa tawwaabo,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O One who Turns (in forgiveness),
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا وَ هَّابُ
wa asaloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa wahhaabo,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O All-Giving,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا غَفَّارُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa ghaffaaro,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O All- Forgiving,
- وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ، يا قادِرُ
wa as-aloka be-wajhekal kareeme yaa qadero,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, O Powerful
وَ اَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ يا ذَاالْجَلالِ وَ الْاِكْرامِ
wa as-aloka bewajhekal kareeme yaa zal jalaale wal ikraame,
I ask You by Your Noble Countenance, “...O Possessor of Majesty and Honour.” (55:78)
اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَ رَسُولِكَ
an tosalleya a’laa mohammadin a’bdeka wa rasooleka
To bless Muhammad, Your servant Your Messenger
وَ نَبِيِّكَ وَ عَلى الِهِ الطَّاهِرينَ الْاَخْيارِ
wa nabiyyeka wa a’laa aalehit taahereenal akhyaare
and Your Prophet, and his family The pure the good,
اَفْضَلَ صَلَواتِكَ عَلى نَبِىٍّ مِنْ اَنْبِيائِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ
afzala salawaateka a’laa nabiyyin min ambeyaaeka wa rosoleka.
With the most excellent of Your Salutations conferred on any one of Your Prophets and Messengers.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family Of Muhammad
كَما صَلَّيْتَ عَلى اِبْراهيمَ وَ الِ اِبْراهيمَ
kamaa sallayta a’laa ibraaheema wa aale ibraaheema
as You have blessed Ibrahim and theFamily of Ibrahim,
innaka hameedum majeed.
surely You are “...Praiseworthy, All-glorious.” (11:73)
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى اَبينا ادَمَ وَ اُمِّنا حَوَّاءَ
allaahumma salle a’laa abeenaa aadama wa ummenaa hawaa-a
O Allah, bless our father, Adam, and our mother, Hawwa
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى اَنْبِيائِكَ اَجْمَعينَ
allaahumma salle a’laa ambeyaa-eka ajma-e’ena
O Allah, bless all Your Prophets.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ عافِني في ديني وَ دُنْياىَ وَ اخِرَتي
allaahumma wa a’afenee fee deenee wa dunyaaya wa aakheratee
O Allah, grant me soundness in my Religion and my world and my Hearafter,
اِنَّكَ عَلى كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ قَديرٌ
innaka a’laa kulle shay-in qadder.
“...surely You are powerful over everything.” (3:26)
اَللَّهُمَ وَ اَسْأَلُكَ اَنْ تَتَقَبَّلَ مِنّي
allaahumma wa as-aloka an tataqabbala minnee
O Allah, I ask You to accept from me,
فَاِنَّكَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ
fa-innaka ghafoorun shakoor.
Surely You are “...Oft-forgiving,All-appreciating.” (35:30)
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ اَسْأَلُكَ اَنْ تَغْفِرَلي
allaahumma wa as-aloka an taghfera lee
O Allah, I ask You to forgive me;
fainnaka ghafoorur raheem.
Surely You are “...All-forgiving,All-Compassionate.” (2:173)
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ اَسْأَلُكَ اَنْ تَرْحَمَني
allaahumma wa as-aloka an tarhamanee
O Allah, I ask You to have mercy on me;
فَاِنَّكَ اَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحيمُ
fa-innaka antat tawwaabur raheem.
surely You “...turn often (in forgiveness) and are All-Compassionate.” (2:37).
