Supplication 132- Day 9 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى كُلِّ خَيْرٍ اَعْطَيْتَناهُ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa kulle khayrin a-a’taynaaho,
O Allah to You belongs Praise for every good You have granted us,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى كُلِّ شَرٍّ صَرَفْتَهُ عَنَّا
wa lakal hamdo a’laa kulle sharrin sarraftahu a’nnaa,
to You belongs Praise for every evil You have averted from us,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى ما خَلَقْتَ
wa lakal hamdo a’laa maa khalaqta
to You belongs Praise for what You have created,
وَ ذَرَأْتَ وَ بَرَأْتَ وَ اَنْشَأْتَ
wa zaraata wa baraata wa anshaata
made, originated and raised,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ ما اَبْلَيْتَ وَ اَوْلَيْتَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada maa ablayta wa awlayta
and to You belongs Praise equal to Your trials and favours,
وَ اَفْقَرْتَ وَ اَغْنَيْتَ وَ اَخَذْتَ وَ أَعْطَيْتَ
wa afqarta wa agnayta wa akhazta wa a-a’tayta,
what You have rendered needy, taken and given,
وَ اَمَتَّ وَ أَحْيَيْتَ وَ كُلُّ ذلِكَ لَكَ وَ اِلَيْكَ
wa amatta wa ahyayta, wa kullo zaaleka laka, wa elayka
caused death and granted life, and all of that belongs to You and returns to You
tabaarakta wa taa’alayta,
Blessed are You and Exalted,
لا يَذِلُّ مَنْ والَيْتَ وَ لايَعِزُّ مَنْ عادَيْتَ
laa yazillo man waalayta, wa laa ya-i’zzo man a’adayta,
the one whom You befriend is not abased nor is the one You oppose strengthened.
تُبْدِى ءُ وَ الْمَعادُ اِلَيْكَ
tubde-o wal ma-a’ado elayka
You originate and the return is to You,
وَ تَقْضي وَ لايُقْضى عَلَيْكَ
wa taqzee wa laa yuqzaa a’layka,
You judge and You are not judged against,
وَ تَسْتَغْني وَ يُفْتَقَرُ اِلَيْكَ
wa tas-tagnee wa yuftaqero elayka
and You are Self-sufficient and people are in need of You.
فَلَبَّيْكَ رَبَّنا وَ سَعَدَيْكَ
falabbayka rabbanaa wa sa’dayka
So here I am, Our Lord, and at Your service,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ ما وَرِثَ وَ اَوْرَثَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada maa waresa wa awrasa
and to You belongs Praise equal to what is inherited and bequeathed,
وَ اَنْتَ تَرِثُ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَنْ عَلَيها وَ اِلَيْكَ يُرْجَعُونَ
wa anta taresul arza wa man a’layhaa, wa elayka yurja-o’ona,
and You “...inherit the earth and all that are upon it...” (19:40) and to You they return,
وَ اَنْتَ كَما اَثْنَيْتَ عَلى نَفْسِكَ
wa anta kamaa asnayta a’laa nafseka,
and You are as You have praised Yourself
لايَبْلُغُ مِدْحَتَكَ قَوْلُ قائِلٍ
laa yablogo midhataka qawlo qaaelin,
The words of a speaker do not attain Your praise,
وَ لا يَنْقُصُكَ نائِلٌ وَ لا يُحْفيكَ سائِلٌ
wa laa yanqosoka naa-elun, wa laa yohfeeka saaelun.
granting a favour does not deprive You nor does a questioner weary You.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَلِيَّ الْحَمْدِ
allaahumma lakal hamdo waliyyal hamde,
O Allah, praise be to You for You are the Master of praise,
وَ مُنْتَهَى الْحَمْدِ وَ اَنْتَ حَقيقٌ بِالْحَمْدِ
wa muntahal hamde, wa anta haqeequl hamde
You are the end of praise and You really deserve the praise.
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لا يَنْبَغي اِلاَّ لَكَ
wa lakal hamdo hamdan laa yanbagee illaa laka.
O Allah, to You belongs Praise, an praise that befits only You.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي اللَّيْلِ اِذا يَغْشى
allaahumma lakal hamdo fil layle ezaa yagshaa,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise in “...the night when it veils” (92:1)
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي النَّهارِ اِذا تَجَلَّى
wa lakal hamdo fin nahaare ezaa tajallaa,
to You belongs praise in “...the day when it appears radiant ’’ (92:2)
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْاخِرَةِ وَ الْاُولى
wa lakal hamdo fil aakherate wal oolaa,
and to You belongs Praise in “...the end and the beginning” (92:13)
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّماواتِ الْعُلى
wa lakal hamdo fis samaawaatil o’laa.
and to You belongs Praise in the highest heavens
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْاَرَضينَ السُّفْلى
wa lakal hamdo fil arazeenas suflaa
and to You belongs Praise in the lowest earth
wa maa tahtas saraa
and “...all that is underneath the soil” (20:6)
وَ كُلُّ شَيْ ءٍ هالِكٌ إلاَّ وَجْهَكَ
wa kullo shay-in haalekun illaa wajhoka.
and all things perish except Your countenance (Ref. 28:88)
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّرَّاءِ وَ الضَّرَّاءِ
allaahumma lakal hamdo fis sarraa-e waz zarraae.
O Allah,to You belongs Praise in happiness and distress,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْيُسْرِ وَ الْعُسْرِ
wa lakal hamdo fil yusre wal u’sre,
and to You belongs Praise in ease and difficulty,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْبَلاءِ وَ الرَّخاءِ
wa lakal hamdo fil balaae war rakhaa-e.
and to You belongs Praise in affliction and in prosperity,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فِي الأَلاء(اللَّأْ واءِ) وَ النَّعْماءِ
wa lakal hamdo fil laawaa- e wan na’maa-e.
and to You belongs Praise for blessings and favours.
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَما حَمِدْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo kamaa hamidta behi nafsaka
O Allah, to You belongs Praise as You have praised Yourself
في اُمِّ الْكِتابِ وَ فِي التَّوْراةِ
fee ummil ketaabe, wa fit tawraate
in the Essence of the Book and the Torah
وَ الْاِنْجيلِ وَ الْفُرْقانِ الْعَظيمِ
wal injeele wal furqaanil a’zeeme,
and the Injil and the Mighty Furqan,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لا يَنْفَدُ اَوَّلُهُ
wa lakal hamdo hamdan laa yanfado awwalohu,
and to You belongs Praise, a praise the beginning of which does not come to an end,
wa laa yanqate-o’ aakherohu.
and the end of which is unceasing
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِالْاِسْلامِ
allaahumma lakal hamdo bil-islaame,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for Islam,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِالْقُرْانِ
wa lakal hamdo bil-quraane,
and to You belongs Praise for the Qur’an,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِالْاَهْلِ وَ الْمالِ وَ الْوَلَدِ
wa lakal hamdo bil-ahle wal maale wal walad
and to You belongs Praise for wealth and children,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِالْمُعافاةِ وَ الشُّكْرِ
wa lakal hamdo bil-moa’afaate wash shukre.
and to You belongs Praise for well being and gratitude (towards You).
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَ مِنْكَ بَدْءُ الْحَمْدِ
allaahumma lakal hamdo, wa minka badaal hamdo,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise and from You Praise begins
وَ اِلَيْكَ يَعُودُ الْحَمْدُ لا شَريكَ لَكَ
wa elayka ya-o’odul hamdo, laa shareeka laka,
and to You Praise returns no partner have You.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى حِلْمِكَ بَعْدَ عِلْمِكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa hilmeka ba’da i’lmeka,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for Your Forbearance after Your Knowledge (of our sins).
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى عَفْوِكَ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’laa a’fweka ba’da qudrateka,
to You belongs Praise for You pardon despite Your ability (to punish)
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى نِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيْنا
wa lakal hamdo a’laa ne'mateka alayna
and to You belongs Praise for Your favour on us,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى فَضْلِكَ عَلَيْنا
wa lakal hamdo a’laa fazleka a’laynaa.
and to You belongs Praise for Your bounty on us.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى نِعَمِكَ الَّتي لا يُحْصيها غَيْرُكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa nea’mekal latee laa yohseehaa ghayroka,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for Your blessings which none can enumerate but You.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَما ظَهَرَتْ نِعْمَتُكَ فَلا تَخْفى
allaahumma lakal hamdo kamaa azharta ne’mataka falaa takhfaa,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise just as Your blessings are apparent and cannot be hidden,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَما كَثُرَتْ اَياديكَ فَلاتُحْصى
wa lakal hamdo kamaa kasorat ayaadeeka falaa tohsaa,
and to You belongs Praise just as Your favours are numerous and cannot be enumerated,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَما اَحْصَيْتَ كُلَّ شَيْ ءٍ عَدَداً
wa lakal hamdo kamaa ahsayta kulla shay-in a’dadaa,
and to You belongs Praise as You have counted everything in numbers (Ref. 72:28)
وَ اَحَطْتَ بِكُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ عِلْماً
wa ahat-ta be-kulle shay-in i’lman,
And encompassed everything in knowledge (Ref. 65:12),
وَ اَنْفَذْتَ كُلَّ شَيْ ءٍ بَصَراً
wa anfazta kulla shay-in basaran,
and penetrated everything in sight,
وَ اَحْصَيْتَ كُلَّ شَيْ ءٍ كِتاباً
wa ahsayta kulla shay-in ketaaban.
and numbered everything in a Book (Ref. 78:29)
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَما اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ لا اِلهَ اِلاَّ اَنْتَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo kamaa anta ahlohu, laa elaaha illaa anta,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise as You are worthy of it, there is no god but You;
لايُواري مِنْكَ لَيْلٌ داجٍ
laa yowaaree minka laylun daajin,
The dark night is not concealed from You,
وَ لا سَماءٌ ذاتُ اَبْراجٍ
wa laa samaa-un zaato abraajin,
nor the heaven with, its constellations,
wa laa arzun zaato fejaajin,
nor the earth with its ravines,
وَ لا بِحارٌ ذاتُ اَمْواجٍ
wa laa behaarun zaato amwaajin
nor the billowing seas,
وَ لا جِبالٌ ذاتُ اَثْباجٍ
wa laa jebaalun zaato asbaajin
nor the highest mountains,
وَ لا ظُلُماتٌ بَعْضُها فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ
wa laa zolomaatun ba’zohaa fawqa ba’zin.
nor the darknesses one upon the other
يا رَبِّ اَنَا الصَّغيرُ الَّذي رَبَّيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
yaa rabbe anas sageerul lazee rabbayta falakal hamdo,
O my Lord, I am the insignificant one whom You have reared, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْوَضيعُ الَّذي رَفَعْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal wazee-u’l lazee ra-fa’ta falakal hamdo,
I am the lowly one You have raised so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمُهانُ الَّذي اَكْرَمْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal mohaanul lazee akramta falakal hamdo,
I am the disdained one You have honoured, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الذَّليلُ الَّذي اَعْزَزْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anaz zaleelul lazee aa’zazta falakal hamdo,
I am the base one You have strengthened, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا السَّائِلُ الَّذي اَعْطَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anas saaaelul lazee a-a’tayta falakal hamdo,
I am the questioner to whom You have given, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الرَّاغِبُ الَّذي اَرْضَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anar raaghebul lazee arzayta falakal hamdo,
I am the desirous You have satisfied, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْعائِلُ الَّذي اَغْنَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal a’aaelul lazee agnayta falakal hamdo,
I am the one in want You have enriched, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الرَّاجِلُ الَّذي حَمَلْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anar raajelul lazee hamalta falakal hamdo,
I am the one on foot You have munted, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الضَّالُّ الَّذي هَدَيْتَ فَلَكَ الحَمْدُ
wa anaz zaallul lazee hadayta falakal hamdo,
I am the ignorant one You have taught, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْجاهِلُ الَّذي عَلَّمْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal jaahelul lazee a’llamta falakal hamdo,
I am the obscure one You have ennobled, so to You belongs
وَ اَنَا الْخامِلُ الَّذي شَرَّفْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal khaamelul lazee sahrrafta falakal hamdo,
Praise I am the wrongdoer You have pardoned, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْخاطِى ءُ الَّذي عَفَوْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal khaate-ul lazee a’fawta falakal hamdo,
I am the sinner on whom You have had mercy, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمُذْنِبُ الَّذي رَحِمْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal muznebul lazee rahimta falakal hamdo,
I am the traveller You have accompanied, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمُسافِرُ الَّذي صَحِبْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal mosaaferul lazee sahibta falakal hamdo,
I am the distant one You have drawn near, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْغائِبُ الَّذي اَدْنَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal ghaaebul lazee adnayta falakal hamdo,
I am the absent one You have brought near, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الشَّاهِدُ الَّذي حَفِظْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anash shaahedul lazee hafizta falakal hamdo,
I am the one present You have protected, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمَريضُ الَّذي شَفَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal mareezul lazee shafayta falakal hamdo,
I am the sick one You have healed, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا السَّقيمُ الَّذي اَبْرَأْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anas saqeemul lazee abraata falakal hamdo,
I am the diseased You have restored (to health), so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْجائِعُ الَّذي اَشْبَعْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal jaa-eu’l lazee ashba’ta falakal hamdo,
I am the hungry one You have sated, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْعارِي الَّذي كَسَوْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal a’areyul lazee kasawta falakal hamdo,
I am the naked one You have clothed, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الطَّريدُ الَّذي اوَيْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anat tareedul lazee aawayta falakal hamdo,
I am the outcast You have sheltered, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْوَحيدُ الَّذي عَضَدْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal wajeedul lazee azadta falakal hamdo,
I am the solitary one You have aided, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمَخْذُولُ الَّذي نَصَرْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal makhzoolul lazee nasarta falakal hamdo,
I am the forsaken one You have helped, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمَهْمُومُ الَّذي فَرَّجْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
wa anal mahmoomul lazee farrajta falakal hamdo,
I am the anxious one You have eased, so to You belongs Praise,
وَ اَنَا الْمَغْمُومُ الَّذي نَفَّسْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمدُ
wa anal maghmoomul lazee naffasta falakal hamdo,
I am the grieved one You have relieved, so to You belongs Praise,
يا اِلهي كَثيراً كَثيراً كَما اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ كَثيراً كَثيراً
yaa elaahee kaseeran kaseeran kamaa an-a’mta a’layya kaseeran
O my God, in abundance as You have bestowed blessings on me in abundance.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ هذِهِ نِعَمٌ خَصَصْتَني بِها مِنْ نِعَمِكَ عَلى بَني ادَمَ
allaahumma wa haazehi ne-a’mun khasastanee behaa min ne-a’meka a’laa banee aadama,
O Allah,these are blessings You have singled out for me from amoung Your blessings on mankind,
فيما سَخَّرْتَ لَهُمْ وَ دَفَعْتَ عَنْهُمْ وَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
feemaa sakhkharta lahum wa da-fa’ta a’nhum wa ana’mta a’layhim,
those which You have made subject to them and averted from them and bestowed on them,
فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ رَبَّ الْعالَمينَ كَثيراً
falakal hamdo rabbil a’alameena kaseeran,
so to You belongs Praise, Lord of the worlds, in abundance.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ لَمْ تُؤْتِني شَيْئاً مِمّا اتَيْتَني لِعَمَلٍ خَلا مِنّي
allaahumma wa lam toa-tenee shay-an mimmaa aataytanee lea’malin khalaa minnee
O Allah, whatever You have given me has not been for an act of mine
وَ لا لِحَقٍّ اسْتَوْجَبْتُهُ مِنْكَ
wa laa lehaqqin istawjabtohu minka
or for a right I deserved from You,
وَ لَمْ تَصْرِفْ عَنّي شَيْئاً مِنْ هُمُومِ الدُّنْيا وَ مَكْرُوهِها
wa lam tasrif a’nnee shay-an min homoomid dinyaa wa makroohehaa
nor have You turned away from me any of the anxieties of this world, its adversities,
وَ اَوْجاعِها وَ اَنْواعِ بَلائِها وَ اَمْراضِها
wa awjaa-e’haa, wa anwaa- e’ balaa-ehaa wa amraazehaa
suffering and varieties of its afflictions, illnesses and disease,
وَ اَسْقامِها، لِشَيْ ءٍ اَكُونُ لَهُ اَهْلاً
wa asqaamehaa le-shayin akoono lahu ahlan
for anything I am worthy of,
وَ لِذلِكَ مُسْتَحِقّاً وَ لكِنْ صَرَفْتَهُ عَنّي رَحْمَةً مِنْكَ لي
wa lezaaleka mustahiqqan wa laakin saraftahu a’nnee rahmatan minka
rather You have turned it away from me as a mercy from You
وَ حُجَّةً لَكَ عَلَيَّ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
wa hujjatan laka a’layya yaa arhamar raahemeena,
and a proof for You over me, O Most merciful of the merciful,
فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ كَثيراً كَما اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ كَثيراً
falakal hamdo kaseeran kamaa an-a’mta a’layya kaseeran,
So to You belongs Praise in abundance, as You have bestowed blessings on me in abundance
وَ صَرَفْتَ عَنّي مِنَ الْبَلاءِ كَثيراً
wa sarrafta a’nnee menal balaa-e kaseeran.
and turned away affliction from me in abundance.
allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin wak fenaa fee haazal waqte wa fee kulle waqtin mas takfaynaaka min tawaareqil layle wan nahaare falaa kaafeya lanaa sewaaka wa laa rabba lanaa ghayroka faqze hawaa-ejanaa fee deenenaa wa dunyaanaa wa aakheratenaa wa oolaanaa anta elaahonaa wa mawlaanaa hasanun feenaa hukmoka wa a’dlun feenaa qazaaoka iqze lanal kayra waj-a’lnaa min ahlil khayre wa mimman hum le-marzaateka .
muttabe-o’ona wa lesakhateka mofaareqoona wa lefaraa- ezeka moaddoona wa menalt tafreete wal ghaflate mo’rezoona wa’ fo a’nnaa wa a’afenaa fee kullil omoore maa abqaytanaa wa ezaa tawaffaytanaa faghfir lanaa war hamnaa waj a’lnaa menan naare faa-ezeena wa elaa jannateka daakheleena wa lemohammadin sallal laaho a’layhe wa aalehi wa ahle baytehi moraafeqeena yaa arhamar raahemeena.
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,and protect us at this time,
and at every time,
from that which we seek protection in You of the events of the night and the day,for there is no protector for us save You,
nor any Lord for us other than You. So fulfil our needs in our religion,
our world, our next life and our first,
You are our God, and our Master, good is Your judgement among us,
and just is Your decree among us,
Decree for us good and make us among the people of goodness and of those who seek Your pleasure,
forsake Your displeasure,
fulfil your ordinances and turn away from negligence and heedlessness. Pardon us and grant us security in all affairs as long as we live and when we die; Forgive us and have mercy on us; make us safe from the Fire and make us enter Your Garden and be in the companionship of Muhammad – blessings of Allah on him and his family – and the people of his house,
O Most merciful of the merciful….
