Supplication 131- Day 8 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ الشَّجَرِ وَ الْوَرَقِ
allahumma lakal hamdo a’dadash shajare wal waraqe,
to You belongs Praise according to the number of trees and leaves,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ الْحَصى وَ الْمَدَرِ
wa lakal hamdo a’dadal hasaa wal madare,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of pebbles and clods of earth,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ الشَّعْرِ وَ الْوَبَرِ
wa lakal hamdo a’dadash sha’re wal wabare,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of hairs and fur,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ اَيَّامِ الدُّنْيا وَ الْاخِرَةِ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada ayyamid dunyaa wal aakherate,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of days of this world and the Hereafter,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ نُجُومِ السَّماءِ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada nojoomis samaa-e,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of stars in the heaven,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ قَطْرِ الْمَطَرِ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada qatril matare,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of drops of rain,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ قَطْرِ الْبَحْرِ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada qatril bahre,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of drops of ocean water
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ خَلَقْتَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada kulle shay-in khalaqta,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of things You have created,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْأَ عَرْشِكَ
wa lakal hamdo mil-a a’rsheka,
and to You belongs Praise that fills Your Throne,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ كَلِماتِكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada kalemaateka,
and to You belongs Praise according to the number of Your Words,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ رِضى نَفْسِكَ
wa lakal hamdo rezaa nafseka,
and to You belongs Praise to the extent of Your own pleasure,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ ما اَحاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada maa ahaata behi i’lmoka,
and to You belongs Praise according to what Your knowledge has encompassed,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ في كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ اَحْصَيْتَهُ عَدَداً
wa lakal hamdo fee kulle shayin ahsaytahu a’dadaa.
and to You belongs Praise for every thing You have counted in numbers (Ref. 72:28),
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ في كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ نَفَذَ فيهِ بَصَرُكَ
wa lakal hamdo fee kulle shay-in nafaza feehe basaroka,
and to You belongs Praise for every thing into which Your sight penetrates,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ في كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ بَلَغَتْهُ عَظَمَتُكَ
wa lakal hamdo fee kulle shayin balaghatho a’zamatoka,
and to You belongs Praise for every thing which Your Majesty attains,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ في كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ وَسِعَتْهُ رَحْمَتُكَ
wa lakal hamdo fee kulle shayin wase-a’tho rahmatoka,
and to You belongs Praise for every thing Your Mercy encompasses,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ في كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ خَزائِنُهُ بِيَدِكَ
wa lakal hamdo fee kulle shayin khazaa-enohu beyadeka,
and to You belongs Praise for all things the treasures of which are in Your hand,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى مااَحاطَبِهِ كِتابُكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’laa maa ahaata behi ketaaboka,
and to You belongs Praise for what Your Book encompasses,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً دائِماً سَرْمَداً لايَنْقَضي اَبَداً
wa lakal hamdo hamdan daa-eman sarmadan laa yanqazee abadan,
and to You belongs Praise, a praise continual, eternal, that never comes to an end
وَ لاتُحْصي لَهُ الْخَلائِقُ عَدَداً
wa laa tohsee lahul khalaa-eqo a’dadaa.
nor can be reckoned in numbers by creatures.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى ما تَسْتَجيبُ بِهِ لِمَنْ دَعاكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa maa tastajeebo behi leman da-a’aka,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for that by which You answer one who calls on You,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِمَحامِدِكَ كُلِّها عَلى نِعَمِكَ كُلِّها
wa lakal hamdo bemahaamedeka kullehaa a’laa nea’meka kullehaa a’laa ne-a’meka kullehaa
and to You belongs Praise, through all Your praiseworthy qualities, For all Your blessings,
سِرِّها وَ عَلانِيَتِها وَ اَوَّلِها وَ اخِرِها
sirrehaa wa a’laaneyatehaa wa awwalehaa wa aakherehaa,
the hidden and the manifest, the first and the last,
wa zaaherehaa wa baatenehaa,
the outward and the inward
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى ما كانَ وَ عَلى ما لَمْ يَكُنْ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa maa kana, wa a’laa maa lam yakun,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for what was and what was not,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى ما هُوَ كائِنٌ
wa lakal hamdo a’laa maa howa kaaenun.
and to You, belongs Praise for what is going to be.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً كَثيراً
allaahumma lakal hamdo hamdan kaseeran
O Allah to You belongs Praise, an abundant praise
كَما اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْنا رَبَّنا كَثيراً
kamaa ana’mta a’laynaa rabbanaa kaseeraa.
just as You have conferred blessings on us, our Lord, in abundance.
اَللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ كُلُّهُ
allaahumma rabbanaa lakal hamdo kullohu,
O Allah, our Lord to You belongs Praise entirely,
وَ لَكَ الْمُلْكُ كُلُّهُ وَ بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ كُلُّهُ
wa lakal mulko kullohu, wa be-yadekal khayro kullohu,
and entire realm belongs to you and in Your Hand is the good entirely,
وَ اِلَيْكَ يَرْجِعُ الْاَمْرُ كُلُّهُ عَلانِيَتُهُ وَ سِرُّهُ
wa elayka yarje-u’l amra kullohu, a’laaneyatohu wa sirrohu,
and to You returns the affair, entirely, the manifest and the hidden
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى بَلائِكَ وَ صُنْعِكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa balaa-eka wa sun-e’ka
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for Your trial and Your favour on us,
عِنْدَنا قَديماً وَ حَديثاً وَ عِنْدي خاصَّةً
i’ndanaa q’adeeman wa hadeesan wa i’ndee khassatan,
formerly and in recent times, and on me in particular.
خَلَقْتَني وَ هَدَيْتَني فَاَحْسَنْتَ خَلْقي
khalaqtanee wa hadaytanee, faahsanta khalqee
You created me and guided me, and made good my creation
وَ اَحْسَنْتَ هِدايَتي وَ عَلَّمْتَني فَاَحْسَنْتَ تَعْليمي
wa ahsanta hedaayatee wa a’llamtanee faahsanta ta’leemee.
and made good my guidance; You taught me and made good my teaching
فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ يا اِلهي
falakal hamdo yaa elaahee
So to You belongs Praise, O my God
عَلى حُسْنِ بَلاءِكَ وَ صُنْعِكَ عِنْدي
a’laa husne balaa-eka wa sun-e’ka i’ndee,
for Your goodly trials and favours towards me,
فَكَمْ مِنْ كَرْبٍ قَدْ كَشَفْتَهُ عَنّي
fakam min karbin qad kashaftahu a’nnee
for many a distress have You removed from me,
وَ كَمْ مِنْ هَمٍّ قَدْ فَرَّجْتَهُ عَنّي
wa kam min hammin qad farrajtahu a’nnee,
and many an anxiety have You dispelled from me,
وَ كَمْ مِنْ شِدَّةٍ جَعَلْتَ بَعْدَها رَخاءً
wa kam min shiddatin jaa’lta ba’dahaa rakhaaan,
and after many a hardship have You appointed ease.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى نِعَمِكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa ne-a’meka
O Allah, to You belongs Praise for Your blessings,
ما نُسِيَ مِنْها وَ ما ذُكِرَ
maa noseya minhaa wa maa zokera,
those of which have been forgotten and those remembered,
وَ ما شُكِرَ مِنْها وَ ما كُفِرَ
wa maa shokera minhaa wa maa kofera,
those for which thanks have been given and those which have been denied,
وَ ما مَضى مِنْها وَ ما بَقِيَ
wa maa mazaa minhaa wa maa baqeya.
and those which are past and those which continue.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’dada maghferateka,
O Allah, to You belongs Praise equal to Your forgiveness,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ عَفْوِكَ وَ سِتْرِكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada a’fweka wa satreka,
and to You belongs Praise equal to Your pardon and veiling (of sins),
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَدَدَ تَفَضُّلِكَ وَ نِعَمِكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’dada tafazzoleka wa nea’meka
and to You belongs Praise equal to Your bounty and blessings,
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِاِصْلاحِكَ اَمْرَنا
wa lakal hamdo be-islaaheka amranaa
and to You belongs Praise for Your setting our affair right
وَ حُسْنِ بَلائِكَ عِنْدَنا
wa husne balaa-eka i’ndanaa,
and Your goodly trials towards us.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ فَاَنْتَ اَهْلٌ اَنْ تُحْمَدَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo fa-anta ahlun an tohmada
O Allah, to You belongs Praise, for You are worthy of being praised,
wa to’bada wa tushkara
worshipped and thanked,
يَا خَيْرَ الْمَحْمُوْدِيْنَ
yaa khayral mahmoodeena,
O Best of those praised,
يَا اَرْ حَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
yaa arhamar raahemeena.
O Most merciful of the merciful.
