Supplication 130- Day 7 of the month from Al-Sahifa e Alaviya
بِسْمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismillahi alrrahmani alrrahimi
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لا يَنْفَدُ اَوَّلُهُ
allaahumma lakal hamdo hamdan laa yanfado awwalohu
O Allah! Praise be to You such that its beginning is unknown,
wa laa yanqate-o’ aakherohu,
it may not end at any stage
وَ لا يَقْصُرُ دُونَ عَرْشِكَ مُنْتَهاهُ
wa laa yaqsoro doona a’rsheka muntahaaho,
and it does not fall short of the limits of Your Throne.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً لايُحْجَبُ عَنْكَ
wa lakal hamdo hamdan laa yahjobo a’nka
Praise be to You such that it may not remain concealed from You
wa laa yatanaaha doonaka
and fail to reach You
وَ لايَقْصُرُ عَنْ اَفْضَلِ رِضاكَ
wa laa yaqsoro a’n afzale rezaaka.
and invoke Your pleasure.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لايُطاعُ اِلاَّ بِاِذْنِهِ
alhamdo lillaahil lazee laa yotaa-o’ illaa beiznehi,
All praise be to Allah for Whose command there is obedience
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لايُعْصى اِلاَّ بِعِلْمِهِ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee laa yo’saa illaa be-i’lmehi
All praise be to Allah for Whose disobedience in not without His knowledge.
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لايُخافُ اِلاَّ مِنْ عَدْلِهِ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee laa yakhaafo illaa min a’dlehi,
All praise be to Allah Whose justice is frightening
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لا يُرْجى اِلاَّ فَضْلُهُ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee laa yurjaa illaa fazlohu,
and praise be to Allah Whose benevolence is the sources of hope.
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لَهُ الْفَضْلُ عَلى مَنْ اَطاعَهُ
wal hamdo lilaahil lazee lahul fazlo a’laa man a-taaa’hu,
Praise be to Allah that those who obey Him receive His bounties,
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لَهُ الْحُجَّةُ عَلى مَنْ عَصاهُ
al-hamdo lillaahil lazee lahul hujjato a’laa man a’saaho,
and praise be to Allah that those who disobey have been forewarned.
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي مَنْ رَحِمَ مِنْ جَميعِ خَلْقِهِ كانَ فَضْلاً مِنْهُ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee man rahema min jamee-e’ khalqehi kaana fazlan minho,
Praise be to Allah that if He grants favour to anyone amongst His creatures, it is His blessing
وَ الْحَمْدُلِلهِ الَّذي مَنْ عَذَّبَ مِنْ جَميعِ خَلْقِهِ كان عَدْلاً مِنْهُ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee man a’zzaba min jamee-e’ khalqehi kaana a’dlan minho.
Praise be to Allah that if He punishes anyone, it is His justice.
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لا يَفُوتُهُ الْقَريبُ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee laa yafoothul qareebo,
Praise be to Allah that those near Him have no escape
وَ لا يَبْعُدُ عَنْهُ الْبَعيدُ
wa laa yab-o’do a’layhil ba-e’edo.
and those away from Him are not far off.
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي حَمِدَ نَفْسَهُ
alhamdo lillaahil lazee hameda nafsahu
All praise be to Allah who said words of praise about Himself
وَ اسْتَحْمَدَ اِلى خَلْقِهِ
was tahmada elaa khalqehi.
and ordered that world also to do so.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي افْتَتَحَ بِالْحَمْدِ كِتابَهُ
al-hamdo lillaahil lazif tataha bil-hamde ketaabahu,
Praise be to Allah who commenced His book with praise,
وَ جَعَلَهُ اخِرَ دَعْوى اَهْلِ جَنَّتِهِ
wa ja-a’lahu aakhera da’waa ahle jannatehi,
made it the concluding prayers of the dwellers of Heaven
wa khatama behi qazaaa-ahu,
and ended His decisions on it.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لايَزالُ وَ لا يَزُولُ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee laa yazaalo wa laa yazoolo.
Praise be to Allah, praise which has been since eternity and will remain till eternity,
وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي كانَ قَبْلَ كُلِّ كائِنٍ
wal hamdo lillaahil lazee kaana qabla kulle kaa-enin,
Praise be to Allah who is the forerunner of everything,
فَلا يُوجَدُ لِشَيْ ءٍ مَوْضِعٌ قَبْلَهُ
falaa yoojado le-shayin maw-ze-u’n qablahu.
before whom there was no room for anything to exist,
وَ الْحَمْدُلِلهِ الْاَوَّلِ فَلا يَكُونُ كائِنٌ قَبْلَهُ
wal hamdo lillaahil awwale falaa yakoono kaaa-enun qablahu,
Praise be to Allah who is that First before whom nothing existed
وَ الْاخِرِ فَلا شَيْ ءَ بَعْدَهُ
wal aakhere falaa shay-a ba’dahu,
and that Last after which nothing could survive.
وَ هُوَ الْباقِى الدَّائِمُ بِغَيْرِ غايَةٍ وَ لا فَناءٍ
wa howal baaqid daaaemo be-ghayre ghaayatin wa laa fanaaa-in,
He is such Eternal that has neither end nor mortality.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي لا تُدْرِكُ الْاَوْهامُ صِفَتَهُ
al-hamdo lillaahil lazee laa tudrekul awhaamo sefatohu.
All praise be to Allah the dignity of whose attributes can not be perceived even by imagination,
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذي ذَهَلَتِ الْعُقُولُ عَنْ مَبْلَغِ عَظَمَتِهِ
al-hamdo lillaahil lazee zahalatil o’qoolo a’n mablaghe a’zamatehi,
the human wisdom is defeated in reaching the height of his greatness,
حَتَّى يَرْجِعُوا اِلى مَا امْتَدَحَ بِهِ نَفْسَهُ مِنْ عِزِّهِ وَ جُودِهِ وَ طَوْلِهِ
hattaa yar-je-o’o elaa mam tadaha behi nafsahu,
min i’zzehi wa joodehi wa tawlehi, except in the way He Himself has praised the qualities of His Might, Generosity and Benevolence.
وَ الْحَمْدُلِلهِ الَّذي سَدَّ الْهَواءَ بِالسَّماءِ
alhamdo lillaahil lazee saddal hawaa-a bissamaaa-e,
Praise be to Allah Who made the sky a barrier for the Wind,
وَ دَحَى الْاَرْضَ عَلَى الْماءِ
wa dahal arza a’lal maaa-e,
spread the Earth on water
وَ اخْتارَ لِنَفْسِهِ الْاَسْماءَ الْحُسْنى
wakh taara lenafsehil asmaaa-al husnaa.
and chose for Himself dignified beautiful names.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الْواحِدِ بِغَيْرِ تَشْبيهٍ
al-hamdo lillaahil waahede beghayre tash-beehin,
Praise be to Allah who is One without similitude,
الْعالِمِ بِغَيْرِ تَكْوينٍ الْباقي بِغَيْرِ كُلْفَةٍ
ala’aleme be-ghayre takweenin, al-baaqee be-ghayre kulfatin
Who keeps Himself informed of everything without any media,
الْخالِقِ بِغَيْرِ مَنْصَبَةٍ
alkhaaleqe be-ghayre mansabatin,
Who is Eternal without any endeavour,
الْمَوْصُوفِ بِغَيْرِ غايَةٍ
almawsoofe be-ghayre ghaayatin,
who is the creator without any feeling of weariness,
الْمَعْرُوفِ بِغَيْرِ مُنْتَهى
al-ma’roofo be-ghayre muntahaa.
who is universally known but has not set limits.
اَلْحَمْدُلِلهِ رَبِّ السَّماواتِ السَّبْعِ
al-hamdo lillaahe rabbis samaawaatis sab-e’,
Praise be to Allah, Master of the seven skies,
وَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظيمِ
wa rabbil a’rshil a’zeeme,
of the great Heavenly Throne Arsh,
وَ رَبِّ الْاَنْبِياءِ وَ الْمُرْسَلينَ
wa rabbil anbeyaaa-e wal mursaleena,
of the messengers and the Prophets,
وَ رَبِّ الْاَوَّلينَ وَ الْاخِرينَ اَحَداً صَمَداً
wa rabbil awwaleena wal aakhereena, ahadan samadan
of the firsts and the lasts; who is One alone and fully independent.
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُولَدْ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً اَحَدٌ
lam yalid wa lam yoolad, wa lam yakul lahu kofowan ahad.
He begets not nor is he begotten and there is none like Him.
مَلَكَ الْمُلُوكَ بِقُدْرَتِهِ
malakal molooke be-qudratehi,
He is the King of the Kings by virtue of His own power,
وَ اسْتَعْبَدَ الْاَرْبابَ بِعِزَّتِهِ
was ta’badal arbaaba be-i’zzatehi,
turned the Lords His slaves by his own might
وَ سادَ الْعُظَماءَ بِجَبَرُوتِهِ
wa saadal o’zamaaa-a bejabarootehi,
and is the Lord of great people on account of His power.
وَ اصْطَنَعَ الْفَخْرَ و اَلْاِسْتِكْبارَ لِنَفْسِهِ
was tanaa’l fakhra wal istekbaara le-nafsehi,
He has created greatness and pride for His own Self
وَ جَعَلَ الْفَضْلَ وَ الْكَرَمَ وَ الْجُودَ وَ الْمَجْدَ لَهُ
wa ja-a’lal fazla wal karama wal jooda wal majda lahu
and has reserved to Himself Benevolence, Generosity and Excellence.
jaarul mustajeereena,
He is the shelter, for those seeking shelter
وَ لَجَأُ الْمُضْطَرّينَ وَ مُعْتَمَدُ الْمُؤْمِنينَ
wa laja-ul muztarreena, wa mo’tamedul moameneena,
place of Safety for the frightened, confidence for the believers
وَ سَبيلُ حاجَةِ الْعابِدينَ
wa sabeelo haajatil a’abedeena.
and the centre for fulfilling the needs of those devoted to His worship.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِجَميعِ مَحامِدِكَ كُلِّها
allaahumma lakal hamdo be-jamee-e’ mahaamedeka kullehaa,
O my Lord! All praise be to You for all Your attributes
ما عَلِمْنا مِنْها وَ ما لَمْ نَعْلَمْ
maa a’limnaa minhaa wa maa lam na’lam
which we know or know not.
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً يُوافي نِعَمَكَ
wa lakal hamdo hamdan yowaafee nea’meka,
Praise be to You such that it be befitting what You have bestowed on us
وَ يُوافي مَزيدَ كَرَمِكَ
wa yokaafee mazeeda karameka,
and You shall bestow in future.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً يَزيدُ عَلى حَمْدِ جَميعِ خَلْقِكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo hamdan yazeedo a’laa hamde jamee-e khalqeka,
Praise be to You such that is greater that the praises of all Your creatures.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً اَبْلُغُ بِهِ رِضاكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo hamdan ablogho behi rezaaka,
Praise be to You such that can make me closer to Your pleasure
wa o-addee behi shukraka,
and enable me to offer my thanks,
وَ اَسْتَوْجِبُ بِهِ الْمَزيدَ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ
was tawjebo behil mazeeda min i’ndeka.
thereby making myself more deserving in Your Eyes.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى حِلْمِكَ بَعْدَ عِلْمِكَ
allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa hilmeka ba’da i’lmeka,
O Allah! Praise be to You that You do not take notice of our sins despite having knowledge
وَ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى عَفْوِكَ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِكَ
wa lakal hamdo a’laa a’fweka ba’da qudrateka,
and forgive despite having power to punish,
يا خَيْرَ الْغافِرينَ يا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
yaa kharal ghaafereena, yaa arhamar raahemeena.
O You the most Forgiving and Most Merciful!
