Supplication 37 for headache
77. In Tibb al-A’immah: From Ahmad ibn Ziyad from Fadhalah from Isma~il ibn Ziyad from "Abi ~Abdillah" D who said: Whenever the Noble Prophet was afflicted with sluggishness or a headache, he would extend his hands and recite Surah al-Fatihah and the Mu`awwadhatayn[i] and he would be relieved from that which afflicted him.[ii]
[i] Surat al-Nas (114) and Surat al-Falaq (113). (Tr.)

Supplication 38 Prayer for fever and other ailments
78. In Da’awat al-Rawandi: The Noble Prophet would seek protection from fever and pains by saying:
أَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ عِرْقٍ نَعَّارٍ وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَرِّ النَّارِ.
allaahumma innee a-o’ozo beka min sharre i’rqin na’-a’arin wa min sharre harrin naare.
O Allah ! I seek refuge with You from the harm of a gushing blood-vessel and from the evil of the fire of hell.[i]
[i] al-Da~awat: 208 and Bihar al-Anwar 95:31

Supplication 39 Prayer for fever

79. From Tibb al-A`immah: Narrated from ~Amr Dhi Qurrah and Tha~labah al-Jammal who said: We heard Amir al-Mu`minin D saying: A severe fever came upon the Noble Prophet so Jibra`il came to him and recited the following invocation:
بِسْمِ اللهِ اَرْقِيْكَ بِسْمِ اللهِ اَشْفِيْكَ
bismil laahe arqeeka bismil laahe ashfeeka
In the name of Allah - I invoke (for) you. In the name of Allah - I cure you
<
min kulle daa-in yoazeeka
of every ailment that afflicts you

wal laaho shaafeeka bismil laahe khuzhaa faltohanneeka.
and Allah is your Healer. In the name of Allah - take it as it brings you well-being.

bismil laahir rahmaanir raheem.
In the name of Allah the Compassionate the Merciful.
wa laa uqsemo be-mawaa-qe-i’n nojoome
I swear by the setting of the stars.

wa innahu laqasamun law ta’lamoona a’zeemun
And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if you but knew.

la-tabarra-anna be-iznil laahe a’zza wa jalla.
You will surely recover by the will of Allah the Almighty.

Then the Prophet stood up (cured) from that which had tied him down and he said: “O Jibra`il! This is indeed a great invocation!” He replied: “It is from a treasure in the seven heavens.”[i]
