Syeda Fatima (sa) supplications after ritual Prayer seeking relief

Shaykh al-Kaf`ami, in al-Balad al-Amin, has mentioned a prayer that is reported from Imam `Ali Amir al-Mu'minin (as) saying that no grief-stricken, worried, depressed, distressed, or aggrieved person recites it but that Almighty Allah will certainly take the edge off him. This supplication is as follows:



يَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لاَ عِمَادَ لَهُ
ya `imada man la `imada lahu
O Support of him who lacks support!

ويَا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لاَ ذُخْرَ لَهُ
wa ya dhukhra man la dhukhra lahu
O protector of him who has no other

وَيَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لاَ سَنَدَ لَهُ
wa ya sanada man lasanada lahu
O Prop of him who lacks prop!

ويَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لاَ حِرْزَ لَهُ
wa ya hirza man la hirza lahu
O Shelter of him who lacks shelter!

وَيَا غِيَاثَ مَنْ لاَ غِيَاثَ لَهُ
wa ya ghiyatha man la ghiyatha lahu
O Aid of him who is aidless!

وَيَا كَنْزَ مَنْ لاَ كَنْزَ لَهُ
wa yakanza man la kanza lahu
O Treasure of him who has no treasure!

وَيَا عِزَّ مَنْ لاَ عِزَّ لَهُ
wa ya `izza man la `izza lahu
O Might of him who wants might!

يَا كَريمَ ٱلْعَفْوِ
ya karima al`afwi
O He Who pardons generously!

يَا حَسَنَ ٱلتَّجَاوُزِ
ya hasana alttajawuzi
O He Who overlooks excellently!

يَا عَوْنَ ٱلضُّعَفَاءِ
ya `awna alddu`afa'i
O Helper of the weak!

يَا كَنْزَ ٱلْفُقَرَاءِ
ya kanza alfuqara'i
O Treasure of the poor!

يَا عَظيمَ ٱلَّرجَاءِ
ya `azima alrraja'i
O He Who is greatly hoped!

يَا مُنْقِذَ ٱلْغَرْقَىٰ
ya munqidha algharqa
O Savior of the drowned!

يَا مُنْجِيَ ٱلْهَلْكَىٰ
ya munjiya alhalka
O Rescuer of the perishing!

يَا مُحْسِنُ يَا مُجْمِلُ
ya muhsinu ya mujmilu
O All-munificent! O All- benign!

يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا مُفْضِلُ
ya mun`imu ya mufdilu
O All-gracious! O All-benevolent!

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادُ ٱللَّيْلِ وَنُورُ ٱلنَّهَارِ
anta alladhi sajada laka sawadu allayli wa nuru alnnahari
It is You alone before Whom the darkness of night has prostrated. So have the light of day,

وَضوْءُ ٱلْقَمَرِ وَشُعَاعُ ٱلشَّمْسِ
wa daw'u alqamari wa shu`a`u alshshamsi
the brightness of the moon, the radiance of the sun,

وَحَفيفُ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَدَوِيُّ ٱلْمَاءِ
wa hafifu alshshajari wa dawiyyu alma'i
the rustle of trees, and the murmur of water.

يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
ya allahu ya allahu ya allahu
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ
la ilaha illa anta
There is no god save You;

وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَريكَ لَكَ
wahdaka la sharika laka
You are the One and Only without having any partner.

يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللَّهُ
ya rabbahu ya allahu
O my Lord! O Allah!

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
(Please do) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَٱفْعَلْ بِنَا مَا انْتَ اهْلُهُ
waf`al bina ma anta ahluhu
and do to us all that which suits You.

Prayer is reported from Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (as) who said that if it is recited regularly, it achieves relief and releases from grief and ordeals:

يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
ya man yakfi min kulli shay'in
O He Who protects against all things

وَلاَ يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ
wa la yakfi minhu shay'un
while nothing can ever stand against Him,

إِكْفِنِي مَا اهَمَّنِي
ikfini ma ahammani
(please do) save me from that which has aggrieved me.



6] Syeda Fatima (sa) supplication after ritual Prayer seeking relief from sorrow and grief
It is narrated from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) that:
My mother, Lady Fatima Zahra (s.a.) used to offer a Prayer, which Jibraeel had brought. In the first of its two units Surah Hamd and Surah Qadr is recited and in the second unit, Surah Hamd once and Surah Tauheed a hundred times. After the Prayer, Tasbih of Lady Fatima (s.a.) is recited. After that the knees are exposed and placed on the Prayer mat and the following supplication is recited and after that one’s needs are sought. Then invoke blessings on the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and then supplicate as follows:
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ.
bismil laahir rahmaanir raheem.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ بِهِمْ،
allaahumma innee atawajjaho elayka behim,
O God, I turn to You through the mediation of Muhammad and Progeny of Muhammad

وَ اَتَوَسَّلُ اِلَيْكَ بِحَقِّهِمُ الْعَظِیْمِ،
wa atawassalo elayka behaqqehemul a’zeemil,
and I adjure by that right of theirs,

الَّذِيْ لَا يَعْلَمُ كُنْهَهٗ سِوَاكَ،
lazee laa ya’lamo kunhahu sewaaka,
whose reality is not known to anyone, except You.

وَ بِحَقِّ مَنْ حَقُّهٗ عِنْدَكَ عَظِيْمٌ،
wa behaqqe man haqqohu i’ndaka a’zeemun,
And I adjure by the rights of those,

وَ بِاَسْمَائِكَ الْحُسْنٰى وَ كَلِمَاتِكَ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِيْ اَمَرْتَنِيْ اَنْ اَدْعُوَكَ بِهَا،
wa be-asmaa-ekal husnaa wa kalemaatekat taammaatil latee amartanee an ad-o’oka behaa,
whose right is great in your view and I adjure by your beautiful names and the perfect words through which You have commanded us to supplicate.

وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الْعَظِيْمِ الَّذِيْ اَمَرْتَ اِبْرَاهِيْمَ - ؑ - اَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِهِ الطَّيْرَ فَاَجَابَتْهُ.
wa as-aloka bismekal a’zeemil lazee amarta ibraaheema – a’layhis salaamo – an yad-o’wa behit tayra fa-ajaabatho.
And I adjure You by that name through which You commanded Ibrahim Khaleel to call the dead birds.

وَ بِاسْمِكَ الْعَظِيْمِ الَّذِيْ قُلْتَ لِلنَّارِكُوْنِيْ بَرْدًا وَ سَلَامًا عَلٰى‏ اِبْراهِيْمَ فَكَانَتْ،
wa bismekal a’zeemil lazee qulta lin-naare koonee bardan wa salaaman a’laa ibraaheema fakaanat,
And by that great name, which You blew on fire and made it cool and safe.

وَ بِاَحَبِّ اَسْمَائِكَ اِلَيْكَ، وَ اَشْرَفِهَا عِنْدَكَ،
wa be-ahabbe asmaaeka elayka, wa ashrafehaa i’ndaka
And by your most loved, noble and great names,

وَ اَعْظَمِهَا لَدَيْكَ وَ اَسْرَعِهَا اِجَابَةً، وَ اَنْجَحِهَا طَلِبَةً،
wa a-a’zamehaa ladayka wa asra-e’haa ejaabatan,wa anjahehaa talebatan
through which supplication is accepted immediately and needs are fulfilled

وَ بِمَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ وَ مُسْتَحِقُّهٗ وَ مُسْتَوْجِبُهٗ.
wa bemaa anta ahlohu wa mustahiqqohu wa mustawjebohu.
and which You are deserving of and owner of.

وَ اَتَوَسَّلُ اِلَيْكَ، وَ اَرْغَبُ اِلَيْكَ،
wa atawassalo elayka, wa arghabo elayka,
I seek mediation to You, I am attentive to You and I seek your help.

وَ اَتَصَدَّقُ مِنْكَ،
wa atasaddaqo minka,
And I seek bestowal and favor;

وَ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَ اَسْتَمْنِحُكَ،
wa astaghferoka wa astamnehoka,
and I am a petitioner;

وَ اَتَضَرَّعُ اِلَيْكَ،
wa atazarra-o’ elayka,
and I am humble

وَ اَخْضَعُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ،
wa akhza-o’ bayna yadayka,
and sincere before You,

وَ اَخْشَعُ لَكَ وَ اُقِرُّ لَكَ بِسُوْءِ صَنِيْعَتِي،
wa akhsha-o’ laka wa oqirro laka be-soo-e sanee-a’tee,
and I confess to my evil deeds .

وَ اَتَمَلَّقُكَ وَ اُلِحُّ عَلَيْكَ.
wa atamalloqoka wa olehho a’layka.
and I insist and persist before You

وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِكُتُبِكَ الَّتِيْ اَنْزَلْتَهَا عَلٰى اَنْبِيَائِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ،
wa as-aloka bekotobekal latee anzaltahaa a’laa anbeyaa-eka wa rosoleka,
I adjure by your Books that You revealed on the prophets and messengers

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ،
salawaatoka a’layhim ajma-e’ena,
(your blessings and mercy be on them all).

مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَ الْاِنْجِيْلِ وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيْمِ،
menat tawraate wal injeele wal qur-aanil a’zeeme,
That is Taurat, Injeel and the great Quran

مِنْ اَوَّلِهَا اِلٰى آخِرِهَا،
min awwalehaa elaa aakherehaa,
from its beginning till its end.

فَاِنَّ فِيْهَا اسْمَكَ الْاَعْظَمَ،
fa-inna feehas makal a-a’zama,
As it contains your great name and your beautiful names,

وَ بِمَا فِيْهَا مِنْ اَسْمَائِكَ الْعُظْمٰى اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَيْكَ،
wa bemaa feehaa min asmaa-ekal u’zmaa ataqarrabo elayka,
through which I seek your proximity.

وَ اَسْاَلُكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهٖ،
wa as-aloka an tosalleya a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
I beseech You to bless Muhammad and progeny of Muhammad and remove their grief and sorrow and through their intercession,

وَ اَنْ تُفَرِّجَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ تَجْعَلَ فَرَجِيْ مَقْرُوْنًا بِفَرَجِهِمْ،
wa an tofarreja a’n mohammadin wa aalehi wa taj-a’la farajee maqroonan be-farajehim,
remove my grief and sorrow as well,

(وَ تُقَدِّمَهُمْ فِيْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ) وَ تَبْدَاَ بِهِمْ فِيْهِ،
(wa toqaddemahum fee kulle khayrin) wa tabda-a behim feehe,
and keep them at the forefront in every good,

وَ تَفْتَحَ اَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ لِدُعَائِيْ فِيْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ،
wa taftaha abwaabas samaa-e le-do-a’a-ee fee haazal yawme,
and begin this only with them and today open the gates of heavens for my supplications

وَ تَاْذَنَ فِيْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ وَ هٰذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ بِفَرَجِيْ،
wa taazana fee haazal yawme wa haazehil laylate befarajee,
and today and tonight command peace for me

وَ اِعْطَائِيْ سُؤْلِيْ وَ اَمَلِیْ فِيْ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْاٰخِرَةِ،
wa e-a’taa-ee soalee wa amalee fid dunyaa wal aakherate,
and fulfillment of all my demands as

فَقَدْ مَسَّنِيَ الْفَقْرُ،
faqad massaneyal faqro,
poverty has besieged me

وَ نَالَنِي الضُّرُّ،
wa naalaniz zurro,
and difficulties surround me.

وَ سَلَّمَتْنِي الْخَصَاصَةُ وَ اَلْجَاَتْنِيْ الْحَاجَةُ،
wa salla-matnil khasaasato wa al-ja-atnil haajato,
Needs have turned me over to You and needs have made me a refugee.

وَ تَوَسَّمْتُ بِالذِّلَّةِ،
wa tawassamto biz-zillate,
Humiliation has targeted

وَ غَلَبَتْنِي الْمَسْكَنَةُ،
wa ghalabatnil maskanato,
and poverty had overpowered,

وَ حَقَّتْ عَلَيَّ الْكَلِمَةُ،
wa haqqat a’layyal kalemato,
and your word is proved true

وَ اَحَاطَتْ بِيَ الْخَطِيْئَةُ،
wa ahaatat beyal khatee-ato,
and mistakes have surrounded me.

وَ هٰذَا الْوَقْتُ الَّذِيْ وَعَدْتَ اَوْلِيَاءَكَ فِيْهِ الْاِجَابَةَ.
wa haazal waqtul lazee wa-a’dta awleyaa-aka feehil ejaabata.
This is the time, when You promised acceptance to your friends.

فَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهٖ،
fa-salle a’laa mohammadin wa aalehi,
bless Muhammad and progeny of Muhammad

وَ امْسَحْ مَا بِيْ بِيَمِيْنِكَ الشَّافِيَةِ،
wam sah maa bee be-yameenekash shaafeyate,
and remove my difficulties through your curative hands

وَ انْظُرْ اِلَيَّ بِعَيْنِكَ الرَّاحِمَةِ،
wan zur elayya be-a’ynekar rahmate,
and look upon me with mercy

وَ اَدْخِلْنِيْ فِيْ رَحْمَتِكَ الْوَاسِعَةِ،
wa adkhilnee fee rahmatekal waase-a’te,
and admit me in your wide mercy.

وَ اَقْبِلْ اِلَيَّ بِوَجْهِكَ الَّذِيْ اِذَا اَقْبَلْتَ بِهٖ عَلٰى اَسِيْرٍ فَكَكْتَهٗ،
wa aqbil elayya be-wajhekal lazee ezaa aq-balta behi a’laa aseerin fakaktahu,
Turn your towards me, which if it is turned to the prisoner, he is freed.

وَ عَلٰى ضَالٍّ هَدَيْتَهٗ،
wa a’laa zaallin hadaytahu,
And if it is turned to the misguided, he becomes guided.

وَ عَلٰى جَائِزٍ اَدَّيْتَهٗ وَ عَلٰى فَقِیْرٍ اَغْنَيْتَهٗ،
wa a’laa jaa-ezin addaytahu wa a’laa faqeerin aghnaytahu,
And if it is turned to the perplexed, he is freed from perplexity. And if it is turned to the destitute, he becomes affluent.

وَ عَلٰى ضَعِيْفٍ قَوَّيْتَهٗ،
wa a’laa za-e’efin qawwaytahu,
If it is turned to the weak, he becomes strong.

وَ عَلٰى خَائِفٍ اٰمَنْتَهٗ،
wa a’laa khaa-efin aamantahu,
If it is turned to the fearful, he is granted security.

وَ لَا تُخْلِنِيْ لِقَاءَ عَدُوِّكَ وَ عَدُوِّيْ،
wa laa tukhlenee leqaa-a a’duwweka wa a’duwwee,
O God, allow my and your enemy to meet me,

يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ.
yaa zal jalaale wal ikraame.
O owner of might and majesty.

يَا مَنْ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَيْفَ هُوَ،
yaa man laa ya’lamo kayfa howa,
O One, whose reality, position

وَ حَيْثُ هُوَ وَ قُدْرَتَهٗ اِلَّا هُوَ،
wa hayso howa wa qudratahu illaa howa,
and power is not known to anyone,except Him

يَا مَنْ سَدَّ الْهَوَاءَ بِالسَّمَاءِ،
yaa man saddal hawaa-a bis-samaa-e,
O One, who has confined the atmosphere by the sky

وَ كَبَسَ الْاَرْضَ عَلَى الْمَاءِ،
wa kabasal arza a’lal maa-e,
and placed the earth on water

وَ اخْتَارَ لِنَفْسِهٖ اَحْسَنَ الْاَسْمَاءِ.
wakh taara lenafsehi ahsanal asmaa-e.
and chose the best names for Himself.

يَا مَنْ سَمّٰى نَفْسَهٗ بِالْاِسْمِ الَّذِيْ بِهٖ تَقْضِيْ حَاجَةَ كُلِّ طَالِبٍ يَدْعُوْهُ بِهٖ.
yaa man sammaa nafsahu bil-ismil lazee behi taqzee haajata kulle taalebin yad-o’oho behi.
O that God, who adopted for Himself every that name through which He fulfills the needs of all those, who pray through them.

وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِذٰلِكَ الْاِسْمِ،
wa as-aloka be-zaalekal isme,
I beseech You through the mediation of your names

فَلَا شَفِيْعَ اَقْوٰى لِيْ مِنْهُ،
falaa shafee-a’ aqwaa lee minho,
as I have no intercessor stronger than this.

وَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ (اَسْاَلُكَ) اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ،
wa be-haqqe mohammadin wa aale mohammadin (as-aloka) an tosalleya a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
And I adjure You by the right of Muhammad and progeny of Muhammad that You bless Muhammad and progeny of Muhammad

وَ اَنْ تَقْضِيَ لِيْ حَوَائِجِيْ،
wa an taqzeya lee hawaa-ejee,
and fulfill all my pleas.

وَ تُسْمِعَ مُحَمَّدًا وَ عَلِيًّا وَ فَاطِمَةَ،
wa tusme-a’ mohammadan wa a’liyyan wa faatemata,
And make my plea reach upto His Eminence Muhammad, Ali Fatima

وَ الْحَسَنَ وَ الْحُسَيْنَ وَ عَلِيًّا وَ مُحَمَّدًا،
wal hasana wal husayna wa a’liyyan wa mohammadan,
Hassan Hussain Ali Muhammad

وَ جَعْفَرًا وَ مُوسٰى،
wa ja’faran wa moosaa,
Jafar Musa

وَ عَلِيًّا وَ مُحَمَّدًا وَ عَلِيًّا،
wa a’liyyan wa mohammadan wa a’liyyan,
Ali Muhammad Ali

وَ الْحَسَنَ وَ الْحُجَّةَ - صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ بَرَكَاتُكَ وَ رَحْمَتُكَ – صَوْتِيْ،
wal hasana wal hujjata – salawaatoka a’layhim wa barakaatoka wa rahmatoka – sawtee,
Hasan and Hujjat Qaim [your blessings and mercy be on them all],

فَيَشْفَعُوْا لِيْ اِلَيْكَ وَ تُشَفِّعَهُمْ فِيَّ،
fayashfa-o’o lee elayka wa toshaf-fe-a’hum fiyya,
so that they may be able to recommend my case in your court and You allow them to intercede for me.

وَ لَا تَرُدَّنِيْ خَائِبًا،
wa laa toraddanee khaa-eban,
And don’t turn me away in despair,

بِحَقِّ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ،
be-haqqe laa elaaha illaa anta,
I adjure You by ‘there is no god, except Allah’ and

وَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ،
wa be-haqqe mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
I adjure You by Muhammad and progeny of Muhammad,

صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ،
salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin,
Bless Muhammad and his progeny

وَ افْعَلْ بِيْ ’’كَذَا وَ كَذَا‘‘ يَا كَرِيْمُ.
waf a’l bee ‘kazaa wa kazaa’ yaa kareemo.
conduct with me ‘as follows’, O merciful God.

11] Her supplication for important matters and for removal of grief
بِحَقِّ يٰسۗ وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيْمِ، وَ بِحَقِّ طٰہٰ وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيْمِ.
be-haqqe yaa-seen wal qur-aanil hakeeme, wa be-haqqe taahaa wal qur-aanil a’zeeme.
By the right of Yasin and the wise Quran and by the right of Taha and the great Quran.


يَا مَنْ يَقْدِرُ عَلٰى حَوَائِجِ السَّائِلِيْنَ،
yaa man yaqdero a’laa hawaa-ejis saa-eleena,
O One, who is capable of fulfilling the needs of all who ask.

يَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِيْ الضَّمِيْرِ
yaa man ya’lamo maa fiz zameere
O One, who is aware of the secrets of the hearts.

يَا مُنَفِّسًا عَنِ الْمَكْرُوبِيْنَ،
yaa monaffesan a’nil makroobeena,
O, One, who removes the distress from the distressed.

يَا مُفَرِّجًا عَنِ الْمَغْمُوْمِيْنَ،
yaa mofarrejan a’nil magmoomeena,
O One, who cures the grief of the aggrieved.

يَا رَاحِمَ الشَّيْخِ الْكَبِيْرِ،
yaa raahemash shay-khil kabeere,
O One, who has mercy on the aged, helpless ones.

يَا رَازِقَ‏ الطِّفْلِ الصَّغِيْرِ،
yaa raazeqat tiflis sagheere,
O sustainer of the small infant.

يَا مَنْ لَا يَحْتَاجُ اِلَى التَّفْسِيْرِ، صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَ افْعَلْ بِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا
yaa man laa yahtaajo elat tafseere,salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin, waf a’l bee kazaa wa kazaa.
O that God, who is not needful of any exegesis and explanation, bless Muhammad and progeny of Muhammad and conduct with me and do so and so.

First: Imam al-Baqir (`a) is reported to have said: Whenever a horrifying matter inflicts you, you may turn your face towards the kiblah direction and offer a two-unit prayer. Upon accomplishment, you may say this prayer seventy times, and submit your requests each time you come to its end:

يَا أَبْصَرَ ٱلنَّاظِرِينَ
ya absara alnnazirina
O best seer of all those who can see,

وَيَا أَسْمَعَ ٱلسَّامِعِينَ
wa ya asma`a alssami`ina
O best hearer of all those who can hear,

وَيَا أَسْرَعَ ٱلْحَاسِبِينَ
wa ya asra`a alhasibina
O swiftest of those who settle account,

وَيَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
wa ya arhama alrrahimina
and O most merciful of all those who show mercy!


Second: The Holy Prophet (s) has said: Whoever is inflicted by a distress, a grief, angst, or a hardship, may say the following statement::

اللَّهُ رَبِّي لاَ أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئاً
allahu rabbi la ushriku bihi shay'an
Allah is my Lord; I never associate any thing to Him.

تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحَيِّ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يَمُوتُ
tawakkaltu `ala alhayyi alladhi la yamutu
I put my trust in the Ever-living Who never dies.


Third: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said:
When his brothers threw (Prophet) Joseph in the well, Archangel Gabriel came to him and said, “O boy, what are doing here?” Joseph answered, “My brothers have thrown me in this well.” “Do you like to come out of it?” asked the archangel. “This is up to Allah the Almighty and All-majestic.” answered Joseph, “If He wishes, He will do.” “Allah the All-exalted says to you that if you pray me with this supplicatory prayer, I will take you out of this well,” taught Gabriel. “What is this supplicatory prayer?” asked Joseph.“It is this one,” taught Archangel Gabriel:

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ ٱلْحَمْدَ
allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna laka lhamda
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of (the fact) that to You is all praise;

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ ٱلْمَنَّانُ
la ilaha illa anta almannanu
there is no god save You, the All-donor,

بَدِيعُ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ
badi`u alssamawati wal-ardi
the excellent originator of the heavens and the earth,

ذُو ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلإِكْرَامِ
dhuljalali wal-ikrami
and the Lord of majesty and honor

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
to bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَأَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِي مِمَّا أَنَا فِيهِ فَرَجاً وَمَخْرَجاً
wa an taj`ala li mimma ana fihi farajan wa makhrajan
and to prepare for me a relief and way out from what I a

After that, the caravan came and took Prophet Joseph out of the well, as the Holy Qur'an has related.

Fourth: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said: Whenever you fear something, you may say the following supplicatory prayer

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ لاَ يَكْفِي مِنْكَ أَحَدٌ
allahumma innaka la yakfi minka ahadun
O Allah, nothing can ever save from You

وَأَنْتَ تَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ أَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
wa anta takfi min kulli ahadin min khalqika
while You alone can save from any of Your creatures;

فَٱكْفِنِي…
fakfini…
so, save me from…

(You may now mention the thing that terrifies you.)

According to another tradition, you may say the following supplicatory prayer (whenever you fear something):
يَا كَافِياً مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
ya kafiyan min kulli shay'in
O He Who saves from all things

وَلاَ يَكْفِي مِنْكَ شَيْءٌ
wa la yakfi minka shay'un
while nothing can ever save from You

فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ
fi alssamawati wal-ardi
neither in the heavens nor on the earth,

ٱكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي مِنْ أَمْرِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ
ikfini ma ahammani min amri alddunya wal-akhirati
(please) save me from what has distressed me, be it a this-worldly or a otherworldly affair,

وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
wa salli `ala muhammadin wa alihi
and send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household.

Imam al-Sadiq (`a) has also said: Whoever comes to a ruler whom he fears, may say the following supplicatory prayer (before presence before the ruler):
بِٱللَّهِ أَسْتَفْتِحُ
billahi astaftihu
With Allah do I commence,

وَبِٱللَّهِ أَسْتَنْجِحُ
wa billahi astanjihu
from Allah do I seek success,

وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ أَتَوَجَّهُ
wa bimuhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi atawajjahu
and in the name of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his Household, do I turn my face (towards Allah).

اَللَّهُمَّ ذَلِّلْ لِي صُعُوبَتَهُ
allahumma dhallil li su`ubatahu
O Allah, (please) make easy for me the difficulty of this matter

وَسَهِّلْ لِي حُزُونَتَهُ
wa sahhil li huzunatahu
and facilitate for me its complication,

فَإِنَّكَ تَمْحُو مَا تَشَاءُ وَتُثْبِتُ
fa'innaka tamhu ma tasha'u wa tuthbitu
for You verily efface what You will and establish (what You will)

وَعِنْدَكَ أُمُّ ٱلْكِتَابِ
wa `indaka ummu alkitabi
and with You is the source of ordinance.

حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ
hasbiya allahu
Sufficient to me is Allah.

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
la ilaha illa huwa
There is no god but Him.

عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ
`alayhi tawakkaltu
In Him do I trust

وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعظِيمِ
wa huwa rabbu al`arshi al`zimi
and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

وَأَمْتَنِعُ بِحَوْلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقُوَّتِهِ
wa amtani`u bihawli allahi wa quwwatihi
I take shelter in Allah’s might and power

مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ وَقُوَّتِهِمْ
min hawlihim wa quwwatihim
against their might and power.

وَأَمْتَنِعُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ
wa amtani`u birabbi alfalaqi
I take shelter in the Lord of the dawn

مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
min sharri ma khalaqa
against the evil of what He has created.

وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.

.

Fifth: This supplicatory prayer is reported to have said by Imam al-Baqir (`a) whenever a distressing matter would take place::

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَٱغْفِرْ لِي وَٱرْحَمْنِي
waghfir li warhamni
forgive me, have mercy upon me,

وَزَكِّ عَمَلِي وَيَسِّرْ مُنْقَلَبِي
wa zakki `amali wa yassir munqalabi
multiply my (good) deed, make easy my place of return,

وَٱهْدِ قَلْبِي وَآمِنْ خَوْفِي
wahdi qalbi wa amin khawfi
guide my heart, secure my fear,

وَعَافِنِي فِي عُمْرِي كُلِّهِ
wa `afini fi `umri kullihi
grant me wellbeing throughout my whole lifetime,

وَثَبِّتْ حُجَّتِي وَٱغْفِرْ خَطَايَايَ
wa thabbit hujjati waghfir khatayaya
admit my plea, forgive my wrongdoings,

وَبَيِّضْ وَجْهِي وَٱعْصِمْنِي فِي دِينِي
wa bayyid wajhi wa`simni fi dini
whiten my face, preserve me with regard to my faith,

وَسَهِّلْ مَطْلَبِي وَوَسِّعْ عَلَيَّ فِي رِزْقِي
wa sahhil matlabi wa wassi` `alayya fi rizqi
make easy for me to attain my aim, and expand Your sustenance to me,

فَإِنِّي ضَعِيفٌ
fa'inni da`ifun
for I am too weak to do that.

وَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ سَيِّءِ مَا عِنْدِي
wa tajawaz `an sayyi'i ma `indi
(Please) overlook the evil I have done

بِحُسْنِ مَا عِنْدَكَ
bihusni ma `indaka
in the name of the good You always do,

وَلاَ تَفْجَعْنِي بِنَفْسِي
wa la tafja`ni binafsi
do not make me suffer from the loss of myself,

وَلاَ تَفْجَعْ لِي حَمِيماً
wa la tafja` li hamiman
and do not make me suffer from the loss of one I intimately love.

وَهَبْ لِي يَا إِلٰهِي لَحْظَةً مِنْ لَحَظَاتِكَ
wa hab li ya ilahi lahzatan min lahazatika
(Please) grant me, O my God, one of Your glances

تَكْشِفُ بِهَا عَنِّي جَمِيعَ مَا بِهِ ابْتَلَيْتَنِي
takshifu biha `anni jami`a ma bihi ibtalaytani
through which You may relieve me from all what You have tested me through

وَتَرُدُّ بِهَا عَلَيَّ مَا هُوَ أَحْسَنُ عَادَتِكَ عِنْدِي
wa taruddu biha `alayya ma huwa ahsanu `adatika `indi
and through which You may endue me again with the best of Your usual bestowals to me,

فَقَدْ ضَعُفَتْ قُوَّتِي وَقَلَّتْ حِيلَتِي
faqad da`ufat quwwati wa qallat hilati
for my power has decreased, my plans have failed,

وَٱنْقَطَعَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ رَجَائِي
wanqata`a min khalqika raja'i
and my hope in Your creatures have lost

وَلَمْ يَبْقَ إِلاَّ رَجَاؤُكَ وَتَوَكُّلِي عَلَيْكَ
wa lam yabqa illa raja'uka wa tawakkuli `alayka
and nothing remained except my hope in You and my trust in You.

وَقُدْرَتُكَ عَلَيَّ يَا رَبِّ أَنْ تَرْحَمَنِي وَتُعَافِيَنِي
wa qudratuka `alayya ya rabbi an tarhamani wa tu`afiyani
Your power, O my Lord, to have mercy upon me and to grant me wellbeing

كَقُدْرَتِكَ عَلَيَّ أَنْ تُعَذِّبَنِي وَتَبْتَلِيَنِي
kaqudratika `alayya an tu`adhdhibani wa tabtaliyani
is the same as Your power to chastise and afflict me.

إِلٰهِي ذِكْرُ عَوَائِدِكَ يُؤْنِسُنِي
ilahi dhikru `awa'idika yu'nisuni
O my God, my remembrance of Your conferrals entertains me

وَٱلرَّجَاءُ لإِنْعَامِكَ يُقَوِّينِي
walrraja'u li'in`amika yuqawwini
and my expectation of Your favors strengthens me.

وَلَمْ أَخْلُ مِنْ نِعَمِكَ مُنْذُ خَلَقْتَنِي
wa lam akhlu min ni`amika mundhu khalaqtani
I have never done without Your favors since You created me.

فَأَنْتَ رَبِّي وَسَيِّدِي
fa'anta rabbi wa sayyidi
So, You are my lord, my master,

وَمَفْزَعِي وَمَلْجَأِي
wa mafza`i wa malja'i
my shelter, my haven,

وَٱلْحَافِظُ لِي وَٱلذَّابُّ عَنِّي
walhafizu li waldhdhabbu `annai
my protector, my defender,

وَٱلرَّحِيمُ بِي وَٱلْمُتَكَفِّلُ بِرِزْقِي
walrrahimu bi walmutakaffilu birizqi
the merciful to me, the guarantor of my sustenance,

وَفِي قَضَائِكَ وَقُدْرَتِكَ كُلُّ مَا أَنَا فِيهِ
wa fi qada'ika wa qudratika kullu ma ana fihi
and whatever I am in is under Your decree and authority.

فَلْيَكُنْ يَا سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَيَ
falyakun ya sayyidi wa mawlaya
So, O my master and cherisher,

فِيمَا قَضَيْتَ وَقَدَّرْتَ وَحَتَمْتَ
fima qadayta wa qaddarta wa hatamta
within Your decrees, decisions, and inevitable commands,

تَعْجِيلُ خَلاَصِي مِمَّا أَنَا فِيهِ جَمِيعِهِ
ta`jilu khalasi mimma ana fihi jami`ihi
(please) decide on my salvation from all that which I am suffering

وَٱلْعَافِيَةُ لِي
wal`afiyatu li
and on granting me wellbeing,

فَإِنِّي لاَ أَجِدُ لِدَفْعِ ذٰلِكَ أَحَداً غَيْرَكَ
fa'inni la ajidu lidaf`i dhalika ahadan ghayraka
for I cannot find any one who can do all that except You

وَلاَ أَعْتَمِدُ فِيهِ إِلاَّ عَلَيْكَ
wa la a`tamidu fihi illa `alayka
and I trust in none save You.

فَكُنْ يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلإِكْرَامِ
fakun ya dha aljalali wal-ikrami
O Lord of majesty and honor,

عِنْدَ أَحْسَنِ ظَنِّي بِكَ وَرَجَائِي لَكَ
`inda ahsani zanni bika wa raja'i laka
(please) act according to the good idea I have about You and according to the hope I have in You,

وَٱرْحَمْ تَضَرُّعِي وَٱسْتِكَانَتِي وَضَعْفَ رُكْنِي
warham tadarru`i wastikanati wa da`fa rukni
have mercy on my earnest humbleness, my submission, and the weakness of my support,

وَٱمْنُنْ بِذٰلِكَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ دَاعٍ دَعَاكَ
wamnun bidhalika `alayya wa `ala kulli da`in da`aka
and endue me, as well as all suppliants that supplicate You, with all of that.

يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
ya arhama alrrahimina
O most merciful of all those who show mercy!

وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ
wa salla allahu `ala muhammadin wa alihi
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Household.


Sixth: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said: `Ali ibn al-Husayn (`a) used to say: After I say these words, I do not care even if all men and jinn support each other against me::

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِٱللَّهِ
bismillahi wa billahi
In the Name of Allah (I begin), in Allah (I trust),

وَمِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa min allahi wa ila allahi
from Allah (I derive power), to Allah (I resort),

وَفِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ
wa fi sabili allahi
in the way of Allah (I proceed),

وَعَلَىٰ مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
wa `ala millati rasuli allahi
and on the principles of Allah’s Messenger (I advance),

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
may Allah bless him and his Household.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِلَيْكَ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي
allahumma ilayka aslamtu nafsi
O Allah, to You have I submitted myself,

وَإِلَيْكَ وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي
wa ilayka wajjahtu wajhi
towards You have I turned my face,

وَإِلَيْكَ أَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي
wa ilayka alja'tu zahri
to You have I commended my cause,

وَإِلَيْكَ فَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي
wa ilayka fawwadtu amri
and with You have I entrusted my affairs.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱحْفَظْنِي بِحِفْظِ ٱلإِيـمَانِ
allahumma ihfazni bihifzi al-imani
O Allah, (please) safeguard me with the safeguard of faith

مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي
min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi
before me, behind me,

وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي
wa `an yamini wa `an shimali
to my right side, to my left side,

وَمِنْ فَوْقِي وَمِنْ تَحْتِي وَمَا قِبَلِي
wa min fawqi wa min tahti wa ma qibali
above me, beneath me, and in front of me,

وَٱدْفَعْ عَنِّي بِحَوْ لِكَ وَقُوَّتِكَ
wadfa` `anni bihawlika wa quwwatika
and defend me with Your might and power,

فَإِنَّهُ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِكَ
fa'innahu la hawla wa la quwwata illa bika
since there is neither might nor power except with You.

Seventh: The following supplicatory prayer of the Ahl al-Bayt (i.e. the Holy Prophet’s Household) may be said to fend off agonies, horrifying matters, and sways of ruling authorities:

يَا كَائِناً قَبْلَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
ya ka'inan qabla kulli shay'in
O He Who existed before all things!

وَيَا مُكَوِّنَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
wa ya mukawwina kulli shay'in
O He Who composed all things!

وَيَا بَاقِياً بَعْدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
wa ya baqiyan ba`da kulli shay'in
O He Who shall survive after all things!

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ…
salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin…
(Please) bless Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household and…

You may now submit your requests.

Eighth: Imam Muhammad al-Taqi (`a) is reported to have said: In order to reach at relief (from a trouble), it is recommended to say this supplicatory prayer regularly::

يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
ya man yakfi min kulli shay'in
O He Who saves from all things

وَلاَ يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ
wa la yakfi minhu shay'un
but nothing can ever save from Him,

ٱكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي
ikfini ma ahammani
(please) save me from what has distressed me.


Ninth: Imam Zayn al-`ªbidin (`a) is reported to have said to his sons: Whenever one of you is inflicted by a misfortune or troubled by a crisis, he should perform the ritual ablution (wudu') as perfectly as possible, offer a two-unit or four-unit prayer, and say the following supplicatory prayer thereafter:

يَا مَوْضِعَ كُلِّ شَكْوَىٰ
ya mawdi`a kulli shakwa
O target of all complaints!

وَيَا سَامِعَ كُلِّ نَجْوَىٰ
wa ya sami`a kulli najwa
O hearer of all confidential talks!

وَيَا شَاهِدَ كُلِّ مََلإٍ
wa ya shahida kulli mala'in
O witness of all gatherings!

وَيَا عَالِمَ كُلِّ خَفِيَّةٍ
wa ya `alima kulli khafiyyatin
O knower of all hidden things!

وَيَا دَافِعَ مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ بَلِيَّةٍ
wa ya dafi`a ma yasha'u min baliyyatin
O repelling of whatever tribulation You will to repel!

يَا خَلِيلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
ya khalila ibrahima
O friend of Abraham!

وَيَا نَجِيَّ مُوسَىٰ
wa ya najiyya musa
O talker to Moses!

وَيَا مُصْطَفِيَ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa ya mustafiya muhammadin
O chooser of Muhammad,

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
may Allah bless him and his Household!

أَدْعُوكَ دُعَاءَ مَنِ ٱشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتُهُ
ad`uka du`a'a man ishtaddat faqatuhu
I supplicate You with the supplication of one whose indigence is extreme,

وَقَلَّتْ حِيلَتُهُ
wa qallat hilatuhu
whose stratagem has failed,

وَضَعُفَتْ قُوَّتُهُ
wa da`ufat quwwatuhu
and whose ability has fallen short;

دُعَاءَ ٱلْغَرِيبِ ٱلْغَرِيقِ ٱلْمُضْطَرِّ
du`a'a algharibi alghariqi almudtarri
the supplication of one who is stranger, drowned, distressed;

ٱلَّذِي لاَ يَجِدُ لِكَشْفِ مَا هُوَ فِيهِ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
alladhi la yajidu likashfi ma huwa fihi illa anta
one who has no one at all to relieve him from what he is suffering save You,

يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ
ya arhama alrrahimina
O most merciful of all those who show mercy!

No one uses this supplicatory prayer but that Almighty Allah, if He wills, shall relieve him from what he is suffering.

Tenth: Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said: To remove any distress and grief, you may bathe yourself, offer a two-unit prayer, and say the following supplicatory prayer:.

يَا فَارِجَ ٱلْهَمِّ
ya farija alhammi
O Reliever of distress

وَيَا كَاشِفَ ٱلْغَمِّ
wa ya kashifa alghammi
and Remover of agony!

يَا رَحْمٰنَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ وَرَحِيمَهُمَا
ya rahmana alddunya wal-akhirati wa rahimahuma
O Beneficent and Merciful of this world and the Hereafter,

فَرِّجْ هَمِّي
farrij hammi
(please) relieve my distress

وَٱكْشِفْ غَمِّي
wakshif ghammi
and remove my agony.

يَا اللَّهُ ٱلْوَاحِدُ
ya allahu alwahidu
O Allah Who is the One,

ٱلأَحَدُ ٱلصَّمَدُ
al-ahadu alssamadu
the One and Only, and the eternally besought of all;

ٱلَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
alladhi lam yalid wa lam yulad
Who begets not nor was begotten

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ
wa lam yakun lahu kufwan ahadun
and there is none comparable unto Him,

ٱعْصِمْنِي وَطَهِّرْنِي
i`simni wa tahhirni
(please) protect me, purify me,

وَٱذْهَبْ بِبَلِيَّتِي
wadhhab bibaliyyati
and eliminate my tribulation.

You may then recite ªyah al-Kursi, Surah al-Falaq, and Surah al-Nas.

Eleventh: Yazid al-Sa'igh is reported to have said: I asked Imam al-Sadiq (`a) to pray Almighty Allah for our good. He therefore said:
Eleventh: To pray for removing agony, it is reported that one may repeat the following supplicatory prayer one hundred times in a position of prostration:

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ
ya hayyu ya qayyumu
O He Who is ever-living! O He Who is self-subsisting!

يَا لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
ya la ilaha illa anta
O He save Whom there is no god!

بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ
birahmatika astaghithu
In the name of Your mercy do I seek aid;

فَٱكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي
fakfini ma ahammani
so, (please) save me from what has distressed me

وَلاَ تَكِلْنِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي
wa la takilni ila nafsi
and do not refer me to myself.


Twelfth: Imam Musa ibn Ja`far (`a) is reported to have said to Suma`ah: If you have an urgent need to be granted by Almighty Allah, you should say this supplicatory prayer::

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ
allahumma inni as'aluka
O Allah, I beseech You

بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِيٍّ
bihaqqi muhammadin wa `aliyyin
in the name of Muhammad and `Ali,

فَإِنَّ لَهُمَا عِنْدَكَ شَأْناً مِنَ ٱلشَّأْنِ
fa'inna lahuma `indaka sha'nan min alshsha'ni
for they both enjoy a remarkable standing with You

وَقَدْراً مِنَ ٱلْقَدْرِ
wa qadran min alqadri
and a significant status;

فَبِحَقِّ ذٰلِكَ ٱلشَّأْنِ
fabihaqqi dhalika alshsha'ni
so, (I beseech You) in the name of this standing

وَبِحَقِّ ذٰلِكَ ٱلْقَدْرِ
wa bihaqqi dhalika alqadri
and in the name of this status

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَنْ…
an tusalliya `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin wa an…
(please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and…

Indeed, on the Resurrection Day, all archangels, missioned prophets, and tested faithful believers will be in need for Muhammad and `Ali, Allah’s peace be upon them and their Household.
[The author of the book] Let me, the poor, refer to this tradition on this occasion:
Ibn Abi’l-Hadid has reported the following incident from Imam `Ali Amir al-Mu'minin (`a): One day, I asked the Holy Prophet (s) to implore God to forgive me. Responding to me, the Holy Prophet (s) stood up, offered a prayer, and raised his hands for supplicating. Listening carefully to him, I heard him saying:

اَللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ عَلِيٍّ عِنْدَكَ ٱغْفِرْ لِعَلِيٍّ.
O Allah, (I beseech You) in the name of `Ali’s standing with You, (please) forgive `Ali.
Surprisingly, I said to him, “O Allah’s Messenger, what kind of supplication is this?” He (s) answered, “Can I find any other person who is dearer to Allah than you are so that I can beseech Him in his name?”
