Imam al-Sadiq (`a) is reported to have said, “When the color of the sun changes (i.e. the sun is about to set), you must remember Allah the Almighty and Majestic. If you are at that hour with one who preoccupies you from this, you must leave him and supplicate.
Continue the supplication to be said at sunset as under:
You may say the words of professing that there is no god save Allah and the words of seeking His protection, . You may then put your hand on the head and pass it over your face.
You may then hold your beard and say the following

Ibrāhīm al-Ja‘farī said: “I heard Aba ‘l-Ḥasan (‘a.s.) saying: ‘When night is about to fall and you see the sun in the west, about to set, then say this: This is a security from seven [afflictions], and from the accursed Satan and his offspring. Abu al-Hasan says: When evening comes and you look at the sun In its setting and departure, then say:
f bismi Allāhi al-Raḥmāni al-Raḥīmi
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. <
al-ḥamdu lillāhi alladhī lam yattakhidh waladan wa lam yakun lahu sharīkun
Praise be to Allah, who has not taken a son and has no partner
fī al-mulki al-ḥamdu lillāhi alladhī yaṣifu wa lā yūṣafu
In the kingdom. Praise be to Allah, who describes and is not described,
And knows and is not known. He knows the treachery of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.
ʾaʿūdhu bi-wajhi Allāhi al-karīmi wa bi-smi Allāhi al-ʿaẓīmi
I seek refuge in the noble countenance of Allah and in the name of Allah, the Great,
min sharri mā dharaʾa wa mā baraʾa wa min sharri mā taḥta al-thará
From the evil of what He created and originated, and from the evil of what is beneath the soil,
wa min sharri mā ẓahara wa mā baṭana wa min sharri mā kāna
And from the evil of what is visible and what is hidden, and from the evil of what is
fī al-layli wa al-nahāri wa min sharri abī murrata wa mā walada
In the night and the day, and from the evil of Abi Murrah and what he begets,
wa min sharri al-rasīsi wa min sharri mā waṣaftu wa mā lam aṣif
And from the evil of ar-Rasees, and from the evil of what I have described and what I have not described.
fal-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbi al-ʿālamīna
So praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
