Laqab (Title): Al Hadi Kunniyat (Patronymic): Abu al-Hasan al Askari Father : Imam Mohammed Al Taqi (as) Mother: Samana al-Maghribiya

Birth: Born at Madina 5th Rajab Img (15th Zilhajj alternate) in year 212 A.H. /827 & was Imam of time since young age of 9 ,for 33 years

Martyrdom: He died of poisoning by Mu'tazzbillah 3rd Rajab in 254 A.H.(26th Jamadiussani alternate dt) at Age of 43 in Samarrah in Iraq and is buried there.

In his book of Mi�bah Al Zair, Sayyid Ibn ��w�s has mentioned this ziarat. Sayyid Ibn ��w�s says: When you arrive at the holy place of Imam al-H�d� (`a) in S�marr�', you may immediately perform the ritual bathing of ziyarah, put on the cleanest of your clothes, and walk with tranquility and gravity towards the holy shrine. When you reach the gate, you may ask permission of entrance, by saying the following words:

اادْخُلُ يَا نَبِيَّ ٱللَّهِ	a'adkhulu y� nabiyya all�hi	May I enter, O Prophet of Allah?
اادْخُلُ يَا امِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ	a'adkhulu y� am�ra almu'min�na	May I enter, O Commander of the Faithful?
اادْخُلُ يَا فَاطِمَةُ ٱلزَّهْرَاءُ	a'adkhulu y� f��imatu alzzahr�'u	May I enter, O F��imah the luminous
سَيِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ	sayyidata nis�'i al`�lam�na	and the doyenne of the women of the world?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ ٱلْحَسَنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya al�asanu bna `aliyyin	May I enter, O my master al-�asan the son of `Al�?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ ٱلْحُسَيْنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya al�usaynu bna `aliyyin	May I enter, O my master al-�usayn the son of `Al�?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ عَلِيُّ بْنَ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya `aliyyu bna al�usayni	May I enter, O my master `Al� the son of al-�usayn?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya mu�ammadu bna `aliyyin	May I enter, O my master Mu�ammad the son of `Al�?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ جَعْفَرُ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya ja`faru bna mu�ammadin	May I enter, O my master Ja`far the son of Mu�ammad?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ مُوسَىٰ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya m�s� bna ja`farin	May I enter, O my master M�s� the son of Ja`far?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ عَلِيُّ بْنَ مُوسَىٰ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya `aliyyu bna m�s�	May I enter, O my master `Al� the son of M�s�?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya mu�ammadu bna `aliyyin	May I enter, O my master Mu�ammad the son of `Al�?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا ابَا ٱلْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya y� ab� al�asani `aliyyu bna mu�ammadin	May I enter, O my master Abu�l-�asan `Al� the son of Mu�ammad?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا ابَا مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلْحَسَنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ	a'adkhulu y� mawl�ya y� ab� mu�ammadin al�asanu bna `aliyyin	May I enter, O my master Ab�-Mu�ammad al-�asan the son of `Al�?
اادْخُلُ يَا مَلاَئِكَةَ ٱللَّهِ	a'adkhulu y� mal�'ikata all�hi	May I enter, O angels of Allah
ٱلْمُوَكَّلِينَ بِهٰذَا ٱلْحَرَمِ ٱلشَّرِيفِ	almuwakkal�na bih�dh� al�arami alshshar�fi	whom are assigned to manage this holy sanctuary?

You may then enter the holy shrine preceding your right foot to the left. When you stop on the tomb of Imam Abu�l-Hasan al-Hadi, peace be upon him, directing your face towards the tomb and your back towards the kiblah direction, you may repeat the following word one hundred times:

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابَا ٱلْحَسَنِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� ab� al�asani	Peace be upon you, O Abu�l-Hasan
عَلِيُّ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ	`aliyyu bna mu�ammadin	`Al� the son of Muhammad,
ٱلزَّكِيُّ ٱلرَّاشِدُ	alzzakiyyu alrr�shida	the pious, right-directing,
ٱلنُّورُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ	alnn�ra althth�qiba	and brightly shining light.
وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ	wa ra�matu all�hi wa barak�tuh�	Allah�s mercy and blessings be upon you.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفِيَّ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �afiyya all�hi	Peace be upon you, O sincerely attached friend of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سِرَّ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� sirra all�hi	Peace be upon you, O confidant of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبْلَ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �abla all�hi	Peace be upon you, O rope of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا آلَ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �la all�hi	Peace be upon you, O household of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرةَ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� khiyarata all�hi	Peace be upon you, O select of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفْوَةَ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �afwata all�hi	Peace be upon you, O choice of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا امِينَ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� am�na all�hi	Peace be upon you, O trustee of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَقَّ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �aqqa all�hi	Peace be upon you, O proof of Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَبِيبَ ٱللَّهِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �ab�ba all�hi	Peace be upon you, O most-beloved by Allah.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُورَ ٱلانْوَارِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� n�ra al-anw�ri	Peace be upon you, O light of the lights.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا زَيْنَ ٱلابْرَارِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� zayna al-abr�ri	Peace be upon you, O pride of the virtuous ones.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَلِيلَ ٱلاخْيَارِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� sal�la al-akhy�ri	Peace be upon you, O descendant of the upright ones.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عُنْصُرَ ٱلاطْهَارِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� `un�ura al-ath�ri	Peace be upon you, O essence of the purified ones.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �ujjata alrra�m�ni	Peace be upon you, O argument of the All-beneficent God.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رُكْنَ ٱلإِيـمَانِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� rukna al-�m�ni	Peace be upon you, O essence of the true faith.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَىٰ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ	alssal�mu `alayka y� mawl� almu'min�na	Peace be upon you, O master of the believers.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ	alssal�mu `alayka y� waliyya al��li��na	Peace be upon you, O guardian of the righteous ones.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَلَمَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ	alssal�mu `alayka y� `alama alhud�	Peace be upon you, O symbol of true guidance.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حَلِيفَ ٱلتُّقَىٰ	alssal�mu `alayka y� �al�fa alttuq�	Peace be upon you, O ally of piety.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَمُودَ ٱلدِّينِ	alssal�mu `alayka y� `am�da aldd�ni	Peace be upon you, O mainstay of the religion.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ	alssal�mu `alayka yabna kh�tami alnnabiyy�na	Peace be upon you, O son of the seal of the Prophets.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ	alssal�mu `alayka yabna sayyidi alwa�iyy�na	Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the Prophets� successors.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ ٱلزَّهْرَاءِ	alssal�mu `alayka yabna f��imata alzzahr�'i	Peace be upon you, O son of F��imah the Luminous
سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ	sayyidati nis�'i al`�lam�na	and the doyenne of the women of the world.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلامِينُ ٱلْوَفِيُّ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� al-am�nu alwafiyyu	Peace be upon you, O faithful trustee.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْعَلَمُ ٱلرَّضِيُّ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� al`alamu alrra�iyyu	Peace be upon you, O favorite epitome.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلزَّاهِدُ ٱلتَّقِيُّ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� alzz�hidu alttaqiyyu	Peace be upon you, O ascetic and pious.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْحُجَّةُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْخَلْقِ اجْمَعِينَ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� al�ujjatu `al� alkhalqi ajma`�na	Peace be upon you, O decisive argument against all creatures.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلتَّالِي لِلْقُرْآنِ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� altt�l� lilqur'�ni	Peace be upon you, O succeeding of the Qur'�n.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْمُبَيِّنُ لِلْحَلاَلِ مِنَ ٱلْحَرَامِ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� almubayyinu lil�al�li min al�ar�mi	Peace be upon you, O distinguishing between the lawful and the unlawful.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْوَلِيُّ ٱلنَّاصِحُ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� alwaliyyu alnn��i�u	Peace be upon you, O sincere saint.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلطَّرِيقُ ٱلْوَاضِحُ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� al��ar�qu alw��i�u	Peace be upon you, O evident course.
اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱللاَّئِحُ	alssal�mu `alayka ayyuh� alnnajmu all�'i�u	Peace be upon you, O bright star.
اشْهَدُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا ابَا ٱلْحَسَنِ	ashhadu y� mawl�ya y� ab� al�asani	I bear witness, O my master Abu�l-�asan,
انَّكَ حُجَّةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ خَلْقِهِ	annaka �ujjatu all�hi `al� khalqih�	that you are verily the decisive argument of Allah against His creatures,
وَخَلِيفَتُهُ فِي بَرِيَّتِهِ	wa khal�fatuh� f� bariyyatih�	His representative among His created beings,
وَامِينُهُ فِي بِلاَدِهِ	wa am�nuh� f� bil�dih�	His trusted administrator in His lands,
وَشَاهِدُهُ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ	wa sh�hiduh� `al� `ib�dih�	and His witness over His servants.
وَاشْهَدُ انَّكَ كَلِمَةُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ	wa ashhadu annaka kalimatu alttaqw�	I also bear witness that you are verily the word of piety,
وَبَابُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ	wa b�bu alhud�	the door to true guidance,
وَٱلْعُرْوَةُ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ	wal`urwatu alwuthq�	the Firmest Handle,
وَٱلْحُجَّةُ عَلَىٰ مَنْ فَوْقَ ٱلارْضِ	wal�ujjatu `al� man fawqa al-ar�i	and the evident proof against those who are on the earth
وَمَنْ تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ	wa man ta�ta alththar�	and those who are beneath the layers of the soil.
وَاشْهَدُ انَّكَ ٱلْمُطَهَّرُ مِنَ ٱلذُّنُوبِ	wa ashhadu annaka almu�ahharu min aldhdhun�bi	I bear witness that you are purified from sins,
ٱلْمُبَرَّا مِنَ ٱلْعُيُوبِ	almubarra'u min al`uy�bi	cleaned against defects,
وَٱلْمُخْتَصُّ بِكَرَامَةِ ٱللَّهِ	walmukhta��u bikar�mati all�hi	bestowed with the honor of Allah,
وَٱلْمَحْبُوُّ بِحُجَّةِ ٱللَّهِ	walma�buwwubi�ujjati all�hi	endued with the proof of Allah,
وَٱلْمَوْهُوبُ لَهُ كَلِمَةُ ٱللَّهِ	walmawh�bu lah� kalimatu all�hi	granted the Word of Allah,
وَٱلرُّكْنُ ٱلَّذِي يَلْجَا إِِلَيْهِ ٱلْعِبَادُ	walrruknu alladh� yalja'u ilayhi al`ib�du	and the stronghold to whom the servants (of Allah) resort
وَتُحْيَىٰ بِهِ ٱلْبِلاَدُ	wa tu�y� bih� albil�du	and by whom the lands are revived.
وَاشْهَدُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ	wa ashhadu y� mawl�ya	I bear witness, O my master,
انِّي بِكَ وَبِآبَائِكَ وَابْنَائِكَ مُوقِنٌ مُقِرٌّ	ann� bika wa bi'�b�'ika wa abn�'ika m�qinun muqirrun	that I have faith in and I submit to you, your forefathers and your sons,
وَلَكُمْ تَابِعٌ فِي ذَاتِ نَفْسِي	wa lakum t�bi`un f� dh�ti nafs�	I follow all of you in my personal affairs,
وَشَرَايِعِ دِينِي	wa shar�yi`i d�n�	in my religious performance,
وَخَاتِمَةِ عَمَلِي	wa kh�timati `amal�	in the seals of my deed,
وَمُنْقَلَبِي وَمَثْوَايَ	wa munqalab� wa mathw�ya	and in my return and final place.
وَانِّي وَلِيٌّ لِمَنْ وَالاَكُمْ	wa ann� waliyyun liman w�l�kum	I do show loyalty to your loyalists,
وَعَدُوٌّ لِمَنْ عَادَاكُمْ	wa `aduwwun liman `�d�kum	I show enmity towards your enemies,
مُؤْمِنٌ بِسِرِّكُمْ وَعَلاَنِيَتِكُمْ	mu'minun bisirrikum wa `al�niyatikum	I believe in all of the invisible and the visible,
وَاوَّلِكُمْ وَآخِرِكُمْ	wa awwalikum wa �khirikum	and the first and the last of you.
بِابِي انْتَ وَامِّي	bi'ab� anta wa umm�	May Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms for you.
وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ	walssal�mu `alayka wa ra�matu all�hi wa barak�tuh�	Peace and Allah�s mercy and blessings be upon you.

You may then kiss the tomb and place your right and then left cheeks on it and say the following words:

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ	all�humma �alli `al� mu�ammadin wa �li mu�ammadin	O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ حُجَّتِكَ ٱلْوَفِيِّ	wa �alli `al� �ujjatika alwafiyyi	and send blessings upon Your faithful demonstrator,
وَوَلِيِّكَ ٱلزَّكِيِّ	wa waliyyika alzzakiyyi	Your sagacious representative,
وَامِينِكَ ٱلْمُرْتَضَىٰ	wa am�nika almurta��	Your well-pleased trustee,
وَصَفِيِّكَ ٱلْهَادِي	wa �afiyyika alh�d�	Your sincerely attached guide,
وَصِرَاطِكَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ	wa �ir��ika almustaq�mi	Your Right Path,
وَٱلْجَادَّةِ ٱلْعُظْمَىٰ	walj�ddati al`u�m�	the most important approach,
وَٱلطَّرِيقَةِ ٱلْوُسْطَىٰ	wal��ar�qati alwus��	the just and equitable course,
نُورِ قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ	n�ri qul�bi almu'min�na	the light of the faithful believers� hearts,
وَوَلِيِّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ	wa waliyyi almuttaq�na	the friend of the pious ones,
وَصَاحِبِ ٱلْمُخْلِصِينَ	wa ��ibi almukhli��na	and the comrade of the sincere.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَاهْلِ بَيْتِهِ	all�humma �alli `al� sayyidin� mu�ammadin wa ahli baytih�	O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon our Master Muhammad and upon his Household
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ	wa �alli `al� `aliyyi bni mu�ammadin	and send blessings upon `Al� the son of Muhammad,
ٱلرَّاشِدِ ٱلْمَعْصُومِ مِنَ ٱلزَّلَلِ	alrr�shidi alma`��mi min alzzalali	the rightly-directing, the infallible guide,
وَٱلطَّاهِرِ مِنَ ٱلْخَلَلِ	wal��hiri min alkhalali	the free from defects,
وَٱلْمُنْقَطِعِ إِِلَيْكَ بِٱلامَلِ	walmunqa�i`i ilayka bil-amali	who, putting hope in You, kept himself aloof from temptations,
ٱلْمَبْلُوِّ بِٱلْفِتَنِ	almabluwwi bilfitani	who was tried (by You) through seditious matters,
وَٱلْمُخْتَبَرِ بِٱلْمِحَنِ	walmukhtabari bilmi�ani	who was tested (by You) through tribulations,
وَٱلْمُمْتَحَنِ بِحُسْنِ ٱلْبَلْوَىٰ	walmumta�ani bi�usni albalw�	who was examined (by You) through acting excellently towards misfortunes,
وَصَبْرِ ٱلشَّكْوَىٰ	wa �abri alshshakw�	and through steadfastness against complaining;
مُرْشِدِ عِبَادِكَ	murshidi `ib�dika	(he is) the spiritual guide of Your servants,
وَبَرَكَةِ بِلاَدِكَ	wa barakati bil�dika	the blessing for Your lands,
وَمَحَلِّ رَحْمَتِكَ	wa ma�alli ra�matika	the destination of Your mercy,
ومُسْتَوْدَعِ حِكْمَتِكَ	wa mustawda`i �ikmatika	the hoarder of Your wisdom,
وَٱلْقَائِدِ إِلَىٰ جَنَّتِكَ	walq�'idi il� jannatika	the leader to Your Paradise,
ٱلْعَالِمِ فِي بَرِيَّتِكَ	al`�limi f� bariyyatika	the all-knowledgeable among Your created beings,
وَٱلْهَادِي فِي خَلِيقَتِكَ	walh�d� f� khal�qatika	the true guide of Your creatures,
ٱلَّذِي ٱرْتَضَيْتَهُ وَٱنْتَجَبْتَهُ	alladh� irta�aytah� wantajabtah�	whom You pleased, preferred,
وَٱخْتَرْتَهُ لِمَقَامِ رَسُولِكَ فِي امَّتِهِ	wakhtartah� limaq�mi ras�lika f� ummatih�	selected to take the place of Your Prophet among his people,
وَالْزَمْتَهُ حِفْظَ شَرِيعَتِهِ	wa alzamtah� �if�a shar�`atih�	and bounded with the guardianship of his laws.
فَٱسْتَقَلَّ بِاعْبَاءِ ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ	fastaqalla bi'a`b�'i alwa�iyyati	So, he accomplished the onerous task of representation (of the Prophet),
نَاهِضاً بِهَا	n�hi�an bih�	carrying it perfectly,
ومُضْطَلِعاً بِحَمْلِهَا	wa mu��ali`an bi�amlih�	and undertaking the responsibility of bearing it.
لَمْ يَعْثُرْ فِي مُشْكِلٍ	lam ya`thur f� mushkilin	He neither slipped in any problematic action
وَلاَ هَفَا فِي مُعْضِلٍ	wa l� haf� f� mu`�ilin	nor did he fail to solve any complexity.
بَلْ كَشَفَ ٱلْغُمَّةَ	bal kashafa alghummata	Rather, he relieved all agonies,
وَسَدَّ ٱلْفُرْجَةَ	wa sadda alfurjata	sealed the loopholes,
وَادَّىٰ ٱلْمُفْتَرَضَ	wa add� almuftara�a	and fulfilled the required.
اَللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا اقْرَرْتَ نَاظِرَ نَبِيِّكَ بِهِ	all�humma fakam� aqrarta n��ira nabiyyika bih�	O Allah, just as You made him a source of delight for Your Prophet,
فَرَقِّهِ دَرَجَتَهُ	faraqqih� darajatah�	so also (please) raise him to the most elevated position,
وَاجْزِلْ لَدَيْكَ مَثُوبَتَهُ	wa ajzil ladayka math�batah�	give him the most fitting reward that suits him,
وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ	wa �alli `alayhi	bless him,
وَبَلِّغْهُ مِنَّا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلاَماً	wa ballighhu minn� ta�iyyatan wa sal�man	convey our greetings and salutations to him,
وَآتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فِي مُوَالاَتِهِ فَضْلاًَ وَإِِحْسَاناً	wa �tin� min ladunka f� muw�l�tih� fa�lan wa i�s�nan	and give us, on account of our love for him, from You bounties, favors,
وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرِضْوَاناً	wa maghfiratan wa ri�w�nan	amnesty, and approval.
إِِنَّكَ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ	innaka dh� alfa�li al`a��mi	Verily, You are the Lord of superabundant favors.

You may then offer the Ziyarah Prayer. When you accomplish, you may say the following prayer:

يَا ذَا ٱلْقُدْرَةِ ٱلْجَامِعَةِ	y� dh� alqudrati alj�mi`ati	O Lord of omnipotent power!
وَٱلرَّحْمَةِ ٱلْوَاسِعَةِ	walrra�mati alw�si`ati	O Lord of all-inclusive mercy!
وَٱلْمِنَنِ ٱلْمُتَتَابِعَةِ	walminani almutat�bi`ati	O Lord of successive favors!
وَٱلآلاَءِ ٱلْمُتَوَاتِرَةِ	wal-�l�'i almutaw�tirati	O Lord of uninterrupted bounties!
وَٱلايَادِي ٱلْجَلِيلَةِ	wal-ay�d� aljal�lati	O Lord of magnificent bestowals!
وَٱلْمَوَاهِبِ ٱلْجَزِيلَةِ	walmaw�hibi aljaz�lati	O Lord of abundant conferrals!
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلصَّادِقِينَ	�alli `al� mu�ammadin wa �li mu�ammadin al��diq�na	(Please do) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Mu�ammad the veracious ones,
وَاعْطِنِي سُؤْلِي	wa a`�in� su'l�	grant me that which I ask from You,
وَٱجْمَعْ شَمْلِي	wajma` shaml�	re-unify me (with my family),
وَلُمَّ شَعْثِي	wa lumma sha`ath�	unite me (with my family),
وَزَكِّ عَمَلِي	wa zakki `amal�	purify my deeds,
وَلاَ تُزِغْ قَلْبِي بَعْدَ إِِذْ هَدَيْتَنِي	wa l� tuzigh qalb� ba`da idh hadaytan�	cause not my heart to stray after You have guided me,
وَلاَ تُزِلَّ قَدَمِي	wa l� tuzilla qadam�	cause not my footstep to slip,
وَلاَ تَكِلْنِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ ابَداً	wa l� takiln� il� nafs� �arfata `aynin abadan	never refer me to myself even for a time as short as a wink of an eye,
وَلاَ تُخَيِّبْ طَمَعِي	wa l� tukhayyib �ama`�	disappoint not my desire,
وَلاَ تُبْدِ عَوْرَتِي	wa l� tubdi `awrat�	expose not my private parts,
وَلاَ تَهْتِكْ سِتْرِي	wa l� tahtik sitr�	disclose not my covering,
وَلاَ تُوحِشْنِي وَلاَ تُؤْيِسْنِي	wa l� t��ishn�	cause me not to feel lonely, despair me not,
وَكُنْ بِي رَؤُوفاً رَحِيماً	wa l� tu'yisn�	be to me kind and merciful,
وَٱهْدِنِي وَزَكِّنِي	wa kun b� ra'�fan ra��man	guide me (to the right path), make me grow,
وَطَهِّرْنِي وَصَفِّنِي	wahdin� wa zakkin�	purify me, cleanse me,
وَٱصْطَفِنِي وَخَلِّصْنِي وَٱسْتَخْلِصْنِي	wa �ahhirn� wa �affin�	dedicate me to You, select me, render me suitable,
وَٱصْنَعْنِي وَٱصْطَنِعْنِي	wa��afin� wa khalli�n� wastakhli�n�	arrange me for You alone, attach me to Yourself,
وَقَرِّبْنِي إِِلَيْكَ وَلاَ تُبَاعِدْنِي مِنْكَ	wa�na`n� wa��ani`n�	draw me near You, take me not far away from You,
وَٱلْطُفْ بِي وَلاَ تَجْفُنِي	wa qarribn� ilayka wa l� tub�`idn� minka	be kind to me, do not turn away from me,
وَاكْرِمْنِي وَلاَ تُهِنِّي	wal�uf b� wa l� tajfun�	honor me, do not humiliate me,
وَمَا اسْالُكَ فَلاَ تَحْرِمْنِي	wa akrimn� wa l� tuhinn�	do not deprive me of all that which I ask from You,
وَمَا لاََ اسْالُكَ فَٱجْمَعْهُ لِي	wa m� as'aluka fal� ta�rimn�	and give me altogether all that which I have not asked from You.
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ	wa m� las'aluka fajma`hu l�	(Please do all that) in the name of Your mercy, O most merciful of all those who show mercy.
وَاسْالُكَ بِحُرْمَةِ وَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ	bira�matika y� ar�ama alrr��im�na	I also beseech You in the name of the sacredness of Your Honorable Face,
وَبِحُرْمَةِ نَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ	wa as'aluka bi�urmati wajhika alkar�mi	the sanctity of Your Prophet Mu�ammad,
صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ	wa bi�urmati nabiyyika mu�ammadin	may Your blessings be upon him and upon his Household,
وَبِحُرْمَةِ اهْلِ بَيْتِ رَسُولِكَ	�alaw�tuka `alayhi wa �lih�	and the sanctity of Your Prophet�s Household;
امِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيٍّ	wa bi�urmati ahli bayti ras�lika	namely, `Al� the Commander of the Faithful,
وَٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ	am�ri almu'min�na `aliyyin	al-�asan, al-�usayn,
وَعَلِيٍّ وَمُحَمَّدٍ	wal�asani wal�usayni	`Al�, Mu�ammad,
وَجَعْفَرٍ ومُوسَىٰ	wa `aliyyin wa mu�ammadin	Ja`far, M�s�,
وَعَلَيٍّ وَمُحَمَّدٍ	wa ja`farin wa m�s�	`Al�, Mu�ammad,
وَعَلِيٍّ وَٱلْحَسَنِ	wa `aliyyin wa mu�ammadin	`Al�, al-�asan,
وَٱلْخَلَفِ ٱلْبَاقِي	wa `aliyyin wal�asani	and the Remaining Successor;
صَلَوَاتُكَ وَبَرَكَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمِ	walkhalafi alb�q�	may Your benedictions and blessings be upon them all,
انْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِمْ اجْمَعِينَ	�alaw�tuka wa barak�tuka `alayhim	(I beseech You in their names) to send blessings upon all of them,
وَتُعَجِّلَ فَرَجَ قَائِمِهِمْ بِامْرِكَ	an tu�alliya `alayhim ajma`�na	hasten the Relief of their Rising Imam by Your permission,
وَتَنْصُرَهُ وَتَنْتَصِرَ بِهِ لِدِينِكَ	wa tu`ajjila faraja q�'imihim bi'amrika	support him, betake him as the means of victory of Your religion,
وَتَجْعَلَنِي فِي جُمْلَةِ ٱلنَّاجِينَ بِهِ	wa tan�urah� wa tanta�ira bih� lid�nika	and include me with those who shall be redeemed through him
وَٱلْمُخْلِصِينَ فِي طَاعَتِهِ	wa taj`alan� f� jumlati alnn�j�na bih�	and those who act sincerely in obedience to him.
وَاسْالُكَ بِحَقِّهِمْ	walmukhli��na f� ��`atih�	I also beseech You in the name of their right
لَمَّا ٱسْتَجَبْتَ لِي دَعْوَتِي	wa as'aluka bi�aqqihim	to respond to my prayer,
وَقَضَيْتَ لِي حَاجَتِي	lamm� istajabta l� da`wat�	grant me my needs,
وَاعْطَيْتَنِي سُؤْلِي	wa qa�ayta l� ��jat�	answer my requests,
وَكَفَيْتَنِي مَا اهَمَّنِي	wa a`�aytan� su'l�	and save me from whatever aggrieves me
مِنْ امْرِ دُنْيَايَ وَآخِرَتِي	wa kafaytan� m� ahamman�	from the affairs of this world as well as the world to come.
يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ	min amri duny�ya wa �khirat�	O most merciful of all those who show mercy!
يَا نُورُ يَا بُرْهَانُ	y� ar�ama alrr��im�na	O Light! O Evident!
يَا مُنِيرُ يَا مُبِينُ	y� n�ru y� burh�nu	O Granter of light! O Granter of evidence!
يَا رَبِّ ٱكْفِنِي شَرَّ ٱلشُّرُورِ	y� mun�ru y� mub�nu	O Lord! (Please do) save me from all evils
وَآفَاتِ ٱلدُّهُورِ	y� rabbi ikfin� sharra alshshur�ri	and from vicissitudes of time.
وَاسْالُكَ ٱلنَّجَاةَ	wa �f�ti aldduh�ri	I also beseech You for redemption
يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ	wa as'aluka alnnaj�ta	on the Day when the Trumpet is blown.

Imam al-Hadi, peace be upon him, is reported to have said, �I have besought Allah the Almighty and All-majestic not to disappoint any one who says this prayer in my shrine.�

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ	all�humma �alli `al� `aliyyi bni mu�ammadin	O Allah, (please) send blessings upon `Al� the son of Muhammad,
وَصِيِّ ٱلاوْصِيَاءِ	wa�iyyi al-aw�iy�'i	the successor of the Successors,
وَإِِمَامِ ٱلاتْقِيَاءِ	wa im�mi al-atqiy�'i	the leader of the pious,
وَخَلَفِ ائِمَّةِ ٱلدِّينِ	wa khalafi a'immati aldd�ni	the descendant of the leaders of the religion,
وَٱلْحُجَّةِ عَلَىٰ ٱلْخَلاَئِقِ اجْمَعِينَ	wal�ujjati `al� alkhal�'iqi ajma`�na	and the argument against all of the creatures.
اَللَّهُمَّ كَمَا جَعَلْتَهُ نُوراً يَسْتَضِيءُ بِهِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ	all�humma kam� ja`altah� n�ran yasta��'u bih� almu'min�na	O Allah, as You have made him the source of light from which the believers derive light,
فَبَشَّرَ بِٱلْجَزِيلِ مِنْ ثَوَابِكَ	fabashshara biljaz�li min thaw�bika	and so he conveyed the good tidings of Your abundant reward,
وَانْذَرَ بِٱلالِيمِ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ	wa andhara bil-al�mi min `iq�bika	warned against Your painful punishment,
وَحَذَّرَ بَاسَكَ	wa �adhdhara ba'saka	notified against Your prowess,
وَذَكَّرَ بِآيَاتِكَ	wa dhakkara bi'�y�tika	reminded of Your sings,
وَاحَلَّ حَلاَلَكَ	wa a�alla �al�laka	rendered legal that which You have deemed legal,
وَحَرَّمَ حَرَامَكَ	wa �arrama �ar�maka	rendered illegal that which You have deemed illegal,
وَبَيَّنَ شَرَائِعَكَ وَفَرَائِضَكَ	wa bayyana shar�'i`aka wa far�'i�aka	explained Your laws and the duties towards You,
وَحَضَّ عَلَىٰ عِبَادَتِكَ	wa �a��a `al� `ib�datika	encouraged on servitude to You,
وَامَرَ بِطَاعَتِكَ	wa amara bi��`atika	enjoined obedience to You,
وَنَهَىٰ عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ	wa nah� `an ma`�iyatika	and forbade disobedience to You,
فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ	fa�alli `alayhi	so also (please) bless him
افْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ احَدٍ	af�ala m� �allayta `al� a�adin	with the most favorite blessings that You have ever bestowed
مِنْ اوْلِيَائِكَ وَذُرِّيَّةِ انْبِيَائِكَ	min awliy�'ika wa dhurriyyati anbiy�'ika	upon any of Your intimate servants and descendants of Your Prophets.
يَا إِِلٰهَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ	y� il�ha al`�lam�na	O God of the Worlds!

Cause of Death/Burial :	Poisoned by al-Mu'tazz, the Abbasid caliph & buried in Samarrah
Initial Period - THE TENTH Holy Imam, like his father, was also elevated to the rank of Imam in his childhood. He was six years old when his father Imam Muhammad al - Jawad(a.s.) died. After the death of Ma'mun, Mu`tasim succeeded him, and was later followed by the caliph al-Wathiq. In the first five years of the reign of al-Wathiq, Imam Ali al-Hadi (an-Naqi(a.s.) ) lived peacefully. After al-Wathiq, Mutawakkil came to power. Being too occupied in State affairs, Mutawakkil did not get any time to harass the Imam and his followers for four years. But as soon as he freed himself from State affairs, he started to molest the Imam. Conspiracy - The Holy Imam(a.s.) devoted himself to the sacred mission of preaching in Medina and did thus earn the faith of the people as well as their allegiance and recognition of his great knowledge and attributes. This reputation of the Imam evoked the jealousy and malice of Mutawakkil against him. The governor of Medina wrote to Mutawakkil that Imam Ali Naqi(a.s.) had been manoeuvring a coup against the government and a multitude of Shi'ites were pledged to his support. Although enraged by this news al-Mutawakkil still preferred the diplomacy of not arresting the Holy Imam(a.s.). Under the garb of pretended respect and love towards the Imam, he planned to put him under life imprisonment after inviting him to his palace. Munafikat of the Rulers - Prior to his imprisonment, in a series of correspondence with the Imam(a.s.), he expressed the view that he was convinced of all the claims of the Imam(a.s.) and was ready to settle them amicably. He wrote to the Imam(a.s.) that having been acquainted with his great personality, his matchless knowledge and his peerless attributes, he was impatiently looking forward to the honour of seeing him , and he most cordially invited him to Samarrah. Although the Imam(a.s.) was well aware of Mutawakkil's treacherous intentions, he anticipating the fatal consequences of refusing the offer, reluctantly decided to leave Medina . But when the Imam(a.s.) arrived at Samarrah and al-Mutawakkil was informed about it, he took no notice of the Imam's arrival. when asked about where the Imam (a.s.) should stay, he ordered that the Imam should be put up in the inn meant for beggars, destitute and homeless people. Psychological torture - Al - Mutawakkil who was a deadly enemy of the Ahlul-bayt a.s., removed the Imam(a.s.) from this inn and entrusted him to the custody of a stone-hearted brute named Zurafah. But, by the grace of Allah(swt), his (Zurafah's) enmity was, in a short time, transformed into love and devotion for the Imam(a.s.). When Mutawakkil learnt about it, he shifted the Imam(a.s.) into the custody of another cruel man called Sa'id . The Imam(a.s.) remained under his strict vigilance for a number of years , during which he was subjected to boundless tortures . But even in this miserable imprisonment the Imam(a.s.) kept devoting himself at all times to the worship of Allah(swt) . Imam's pity & Taqwa - The watchman of the prison used to comment that Imam Ali al-Hadi(a.s.) seemed to be an angel in human garb. When Fath ibn Khaqan became the vizier of Mutawakkil, he being a Shi`ah could not stand the idea of the Imam's captivity. He endeavoured to have him released from imprisonment and arranged for his comfortable residence in a personally purchased house at Samarrah. Still Mutawakkil could hardly refrain from his antagonism to the Imam(a.s.) and he appointed spies to watch the Imam(a.s.) and his connections. But through all these attempts, his hope of creating some fabrication to prove the Imam's activity against himself could not be realized. A Historic Incident - In the time of Mutawakkil there was a woman named Zaynab who claimed to be a descendant of Imam Hussain(a.s.). Mutawakkil sought the confirmation of Zaynab's claim from the Imam(a.s.) and said: "That as the beasts are prohibited to eat the flesh of the descendants of Imam Hussain(a.s.) he would throw Zaynab to the beasts and test her claim". On hearing this , Zaynab began to tremble and confessed that she was a fake. Mutawakkil then ordered the Imam(a.s.) to be thrown to the beasts to test the claim. To his great surprise , he witnessed the beasts prostrating their heads before the Imam(a.s.). Ready to Help his Enemies - Once Mutawakkil happened to suffer from a serious malady which was eventually declared incurable by his physicians. When the Imam(a.s.) was approached for some remedy, he prescribed an application which resulted in a spontaneous cure. Enmity of Rulers towards Ahlul Bayt a.s. - Once al-Mutawakkil was informed that the Imam(a.s.) was preparing a revolt against him. Thereupon, he ordered a detachment of the army to launch a raid on the Imam's residence. When the soldiers entered his house, they found him sitting on a mat, reciting the Holy Qur'an. Shahadat of Imam - Not only Mutawakkil, but his successors' opposition to the Imam(a.s.) was fierce. After the death of Mutawakkil, Mustansir, Mus'tain and Mu'tazz carried on the same mission of harassment against the family of the Imam. Mu`tazz, understanding the uncontrollable and intense devotion of the people towards the Imam(a.s.) , eventually contrived the Imam's assassination. He got him poisoned through an ambassador which resulted in the Imam's death within a few hours. The martyrdom occurred on 3rd Rajab 254 AH, and his funeral prayer was conducted by his son, Imam Hasan al-Askari(a.s.). The Imam(a.s.) was only forty-two years old at the time of death. The period of his Imamate was thirty-five years . He is buried in Samarrah, Iraq.

يَا عُدَّتِي عِنْدَ ٱلْعُدَدِ	y� `uddat� `inda al`udadi	O my means when I lack means!
وَيَا رَجَائِي وَٱلْمُعْتَمَدَ	wa y� raj�'� walmu`tamadu	O my hope and my trust!
وَيَا كَهْفِي وَٱلسَّنَدَ	wa y� kahf� walssanadu	O my haven and my support!
يَا وَاحِدُ يَا احَدُ	y� w��idu y� a�adu	O One! O One and Only!
وَيَا قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ احَدٌ	wa y� qul huwa all�hu a�adun	O (described in) �Say: He is Allah, the One.�
اسْالُكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ مَنْ خَلَقْتَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ	as'aluka all�humma bi�aqqi man khalaqta min khalqika	I beseech You in the name of those whom You created from among Your creations
وَلَمْ تَجْعَلْ فِي خَلْقِكَ مِثْلَهُمْ احَداً	wa lam taj`al f� khalqika mithlahum a�adan	but You have not made anyone to be like them at all,
صَلِّ عَلَىٰ جَمَاعَتِهِمْ�	�alli `al� jam�`atihim�	(please do) send blessings upon them all�
