Warding Off Spiritual Unrest

a) Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Qadhi al-Tabatabai, the mentor of 'Allama al-Tabataba'i would advise: If you have spiritual unease, you may recite the following:

Other than Allah alone there is no god; He has no partner;

to Him belongs praise and to Him belongs the sovereignty; and He has power over all things;

 I seek protection of Allah from the insinuations of the Satans; and I seek Your protection O Lord, from them being present in me;

 Indeed only Allah is the Hearing and Knowing.

La ilaha illallahu wahdahu laa sharika lah;

lahul hamdu wa lahul mulk wa huwa alaa kulli shayin qadeer;

Audhu billahi min hamazaatishhayaateen wa audhu bika Rabbi min an yahdhuroon;

innallaha huwas sameeul aleem.

Sermon 226: Nahjulbalagha by Imam Ali (as)

O My God! You are the most attached to Your lovers & the most ready to assist those who trust in You.

You see all their secrets & concealments, know whatever is in their consciences, & are aware of the extent of their intelligence. Consequently, their secrets are open to You and their hearts are eager for You.

If loneliness makes them desolate, Your remembrance gives them solace.

 If distresses befall them, they beseech Your protection, because they know that the reins of affairs are in Your hands, and that their movements depend upon Your commands.

O My God! If I am unable to express my request or cannot see my needs, then guide me towards my betterment & take my heart towards the correct goal, for this is not against (the mode of) Your guidance nor anything new against Your ways of support.

O My God! Deal with me through Your forgiveness and do not deal with me according to Your justice.
