FASTING
Imam Ali bin Husayn Al Zainul Abideen (as) told his companions: “The Holy Prophet (saw) used to observe fast during the whole month of Sha’-ban. Therefore whosoever, in love of the Holy Prophet (saw), wishes to seek nearness to Allah and receive bounties, favours and rewards in this world and in the Hereafter, must connect Sha’ban with Ramadhan (in the matter of fasting and special prayers).
CHARITY
“What are the best deeds that should be done in Sha`ban.” The Imam (a.s) answered, “Almsgiving and seeking forgiveness are the best deeds in Sha`ban. Verily, if anyone of you gives alms in Sha`ban, Almighty Allah will breed that alms in the very same way as you breed your small camels. Hence, this alms will be as huge as Mount Uhud on the Resurrection Day.” It is a rescue from Hell Fire
Seek Forgiveness
According to narrations, the best supplications and invocations that are recited in Sha`ban are the prayers of seeking forgiveness of Almighty Allah (i.e. istighfar). Hence, to seek Almighty Allah’s forgiveness seventy times a day in Sha`ban is equal to seeking His forgiveness seventy Thousand times a day in the other months
.Recite 70 times each day :

Recite Holy Quran as much as you can. When Abū Salt al-Harawī visited Imam Ali al-Ridā as in the last week of Sha‘bān, the Imam advised him saying: O Abū Salt . . . devote yourself to what is beneficial for you. Supplicate a lot and do istighfār. Read as much of the Glorious Quran as you can.

ilahi ka-anni binafsi waqifatun bayna yadayka

ilahi qad jurtu `ala nafsi fi alnnazari laha
My Lord, I have been unjust to my soul for I have not looked after it;
falaha alwaylu in lam taghfir laha
It will be doomed if You do not forgive me.
ilahi lam yazal birruka `alayya ayyama hayati
My Lord, You have never ceased Your favors from me all my lifetime;
fala taqta` birraka `anni fi mamati
So do not cease Your goodness towards me at the time of my death.
ilahi kayfa ayasu min husni nazarika li ba`da mamati
My Lord, how can I despair of Your benevolent attention towards me after my death
wa anta lam tuwallini illa aljamila fi hayati
while You have always been good to me throughout my lifetime?
ilahi tawalla min amri ma anta ahluhu
My Lord, (please) manage my affairs in the very way that befits You,
wa `ud `alayya bifadlika `ala mudhnibin qad ghamarahu jahluhu
and confer upon me—a sinful person who is covered by his ignorance—with Your favors.
ilahi qad satarta `alayya dhunuban fi alddunya
My Lord, You have concealed my sins in this world,
wa ana ahwaju ila satriha `alayya minka fi al-ukhra
but I am in greater need of their being concealed in the Next Life.
idh lam tuzhirha li-ahadin min `ibadika alssalihina
You have not revealed my sins even before any of Your righteous servants;
fala tafdahni yawma alqiyamati `ala ru'usi al-ashhadi
therefore, (please) do not humuliate me on the Resurrection Day before all the witnesses.
ilahi juduka basata amali
My Lord, it is Your magnanimity that expanded my hope,
wa `afwuka afdalu min `amali
and surely Your pardon is superior to my deeds.
ilahi fasurrani biliqa'ika yawma taqdi fihi bayna `ibadika
My Lord, therefore gladden my heart when I meet You on the day when You shall judge between Your servants.
ilahi i`tidhari ilayka i`tidharu man lam yastaghni `an qabuli `udhrihi
My Lord, I submit to You the apology of one who cannot dispense with the acceptance of his excuse;
faqbal `udhri ya akrama man i`tadhara ilayhi almusi'una
so, (please) accept my excuse, O most Magnanimous of all those before whom the guilty make an apology.
ilahi la tarudda hajati
My Lord, (please) do not reject my request,
wa la tukhayyib tama`i
do not dissapoint my hope for You,
and do not cut off from You my hope and expectations from You.
ilahi law aradta hawani lam tahdini
My Lord, had You wanted to humiliate me, You would not have guided me (to You).
wa law aradta fadihati lam tu`afini
Had You decided to humiliate me,You would not have excused me.
ilahi ma azunnuka tarudduni fi hajatin qad afnaytu `umri fi talabiha minka
My Lord, I do not expect You to reject my request that I spent my whole lifetime asking for it from You.
ilahi falaka alhamdu abadan abadan da'iman sarmadan
My Lord, all praise be to You, forever, forever, perpetually, everlastingly,
increasingly, and imperishably, as exactly as You like and please.
ilahi in akhadhtani bijurmi akhadhtuka bi`afwika
My Lord, if You punish me for my offense, I shall cling to Your pardon,
wa in akhadhtani bidhunubi akhadhtuka bimaghfiratika
if You cease me for my sins, I shall take hold of Your forgiveness,
wa in adkhaltani alnnara a`lamtu ahlaha anni uhibbuka
and if You put me to the fire, I shall declare to its inmates that I love You.
ilahi in kana saghura fi janbi ta`atika `amali
My Lord, should my deeds be insignificant with respect to obedience to You,
faqad kabura fi janbi raja'ika amali
Great indeed is my hope with respect to my expectations from You.
ilahi kayfa anqalibu min `indika bilkhaybati mahruman
My Lord, how can it be that I return from You with disappointment and deprivation
wa qad kana husnu zanni bijudika an taqlibani bilnnajati marhuman
for indeed my beautiful opinion about Your generosity was that You shall reverse my fate by savng me mercifully.
ilahi wa qad afnaytu `umri fi shirrati alssahwi `anka
My Lord, I have spent my entire lifetime in being negligent to You
wa ablaytu shababi fi sakrati alttaba`udi minka

My Lord, I did not wake up from my delusions
wa rukuni ila sabili sakhatika
and did not desist from pursuing the path of Your displeasure.
ilahi wa ana `abduka wabnu `abdika qa'imun bayna yadayka
My Lord, nevertheless, I am—Your servant and the son of Your servant, now standing before You
mutawassilun bikaramika ilayka
and begging You in the name of Your generosity.
ilahi ana `abdun atanassalu ilayka mimma kuntu uwajihuka bihi
My Lord, I am a servant, disavowing before You
min qillati istihya'i min nazarika
of my past attitude of lack of shame in Your sight
seek Your pardon as it is the attribute of Your magnanimty to pardon;
ilahi lam yakun li hawlun fa-antaqila bihi `an ma`siyatika
My Lord, I had no strength to desist from Your disobedience
illa fi waqtin ayqaztani limahabbatika
except when You awakened me for Your love

Hence, I desired, that I become exactly as You want me to be.

I have thus thanked You, for You admitting me into Your generosity

wa litathiri qalbi min awsakhi alghaflati `anka
and You have purified my heart from the filth of being inattentive to You.
ilahi unzur ilayya nazara man nadaytahu fa-ajabaka
My Lord, (please) look upon me in the same way as You have looked at one whom You called and he has responded to You
wasta`maltahu bima`unatika fa-ata`aka

O the Near one who is not far away from those who love Him ardently
O He Who is too magnanimous to deprive one who hopes for His reward!
ilahi hab li qalban yudnihi minka shawquhu
My Lord, (please) grant me a heart whose longing for You will draw one close to You,
wa lisanan yurfa`u ilayka sidquhu
a tongue whose truthfulness ascends towards You,
wa nazaran yuqarribuhu minka haqquhu
and a sight whose trueness brings it close to You.
ilahi inna man ta`arrafa bika ghayru majhulin
My Lord, certainly he who recognizes You shall never be anonymous,
wa man ladha bika ghayru makhdhulin
he who seeks Your shelter shall never be disappointed,
wa man aqbalta `alayhi ghayru mamlulin
and he to whom You turn to does not fall victim to servility(dejection).
ilahi inna man intahaja bika lamustanirun
My Lord, certainly he who abides by Your Path shall be enlightened,
wa inna man i`tasama bika lamustajirun
and he who resorts in You finds refuge.

Indeed certainly I have taken shelter in You, My Lord! So, (please) do not let down my opinion in Your mercy
wa la tahjubni `an ra'fatika
and do not exclude me from Your compassion.

My Lord, place me, among those who show servitude to You,

Imam al-Rida (a.s) (Uyun Al Akhbar Ar Ridha v 2) is reported as saying,
“If one observes fasting on the last three days of Sha`ban and attach it to the obligatory fasting of Ramadan, Almighty Allah will decide his as observing fasting in two consecutive months.”
Abu’l-Salt al-Harawiy has narrated that when he visited Imam al-Rida (a.s) on the last Friday of Sha`ban, the Imam said to him, “Abu’l-Salt: The majority of Sha`ban has passed. This is the last Friday in it. You should thus settle what you have missed in this month by working hard in the rest of it. You may supplicate, seek forgiveness of Almighty Allah, recite the Holy Qur'an, and repent before Almighty Allah from your sins so that you receive the month of Ramadan with pure sincerity to Almighty Allah.
You must fulfill all the trusts that you are liable to settle; and do not bear malice against any of your brethren-in-faith; and you must give up any sin that you commit.
Fear Almighty Allah and trust in Him in secret and openly, for ‘If any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion. 65/3’
In the rest days of Sha`ban, repeat the following supplication very much for Almighty Allah saves many people from Hellfire on account of the sanctity of this month:
allahumma in lam takun ghafarta lana fima mada min sha`bana
O Allah: If You have not forgiven us in the past days of Sha`ban,
faghfir lana fima baqiya minhu
(please do) forgive us in the rest of it.
Shaban Thursday - How to end Shaban month Several narrations were reported which stated that the deeds performed in each month are taken up towards God on its last Thursday. Thus, it is best for you to try to purify your inner thoughts which are the basis for the approval or lack of approval of your deeds on the last Thursday of Sha'ban since the value of man‟s deeds is based on his intention.
And also try to compensate for the deeds which you have not done and complete them as much as you can and offer them to the Threshold of the Almighty God like one who is afraid of his deeds being rejected.
If we get more happy when we are granted our worldly requests or when we engage in natural worldly lusts of this world compared to what is near the Almighty God, or we get more pleased when our temporary needs are fulfilled compared to when we serve and obey the Almighty God then this is an indication of the deficiency of our deeds. This is a clear sign of an illness and it is improbable for our deeds to be free of problems.
Also pay attention to the fact that you offer your deeds for gaining the reward of the Merciful God to the ones ( Ahlulbayt(as) ) upon whom the deeds of all is offered in the last Thursday of Sha‟ban.
Thus, on the last Thursday of Sha'ban you should offer your deeds to those to whom deeds are offered in order to get rewards from the Merciful God. You should offer your deeds to them like a guest, a worshipper, a servant who is fleeing from himself and his own temptations, one who seeks refuge in the shadow of his Master‟s justice and grabs unto His Majesty and Benevolence.
You should also offer your deeds with caution in each part of this month in addition to offering them on the last Thursday of this month

Ramadhan Month
