The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings upon him and his family) is reported as having mentioned a great reward for those who offer a special prayer on Sundays in Dhu’l-Qa`dah
•their repentance would be accepted, their sins forgiven,
•their rivals made pleased with them on the Resurrection Day,
•caused to die on true faith, given the true religion, granted expansion and light in the grave,
•the parents made pleased with them, their parents and offspring had their sins forgiven,
•provided with expansive sustenance,
•and granted lenience of the Angel of Death and easiness of their souls leaving their bodies.
The method of this prayer is as follows:
Take a Ghusl on Sunday followed by Wudhu. Offer a four unit prayer. In each unit,
Surah al-Fatihah is recited once
Surah al-Tawhid repeated three times
Surah al-Falaq once
Surah al-Naas once
Following completion of the prayer repeat the statement of imploring for forgiveness (Istighfar) seventy times:
astaghfiru allaha wa atubu ilayhi
I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent before Him.
Then say the following:
There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-great.
ya `azizu ya ghaffaru
O Almighty! O All-forgiving!
ighfir li dhunubi wa dhunuba jami`i almu'minina walmu'minati
(Please) forgive my sins and the sins of all believing men and women,
fa'innahu la yaghfiru aldhdhunuba illa anta
for none can forgive sins save You.
