Amaal - Recommended Acts

Ghusl - Prescribed Bath
Perform Ghusl (prescribed bath) preferably near sunset time (wudhu also required) and arrange for Sadqa/Charity tonight.

Give Sadaqa - Charity - Alms tonight

Salaat (Namaaz)
Offer two Rakats Salat, in every Rakat recite Sura-al-Hamd, and Sura Ikhlaas seven times.
After Completion of salaat - repeat 70 Times:

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إلَيْهِ.

astaghfiru allaha wa atubu ilayhi

I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent before Him.

Seek forgiveness
Allama Majlisi has stated that the best prayer during these nights is to seek forgiveness and seek ones wishes for this world and the hereafter and recite as much salwaat as possible. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) was asked what should be sought from Allah (swt) on Laylatul Qadr and he replied, "Health".
Recite 100 times

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّهَ رَبِّي وَأَتُوبُ إلَيْهِ.

astaghfiru allaha rabby wa atubu ilayhi<

I seek the forgiveness of Allah, my Lord, and I repent before Him

other duas for seeking forgiveness
Munajat e Taebeen,
Dua Tauba,
Dua Kumayl

Al-Kaf`amiy has narrated that Imam Zayn al-Abideen (a.s) used to recite this very frequently at the Qadr nights while sitting, standing, in rukuu', and prostrating:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي امْسَيْتُ لَكَ عَبْداً دَاخِراً

allahumma inni amsaytu laka `abdan dakhiran

I have passed the evening as a very humble servant of Yours

لاَ امْلِكُ لِنَفْسِي نَفْعاً وَلاَ ضَرّاً

la amliku linafsi naf`an wa la darran

I have no control over the gains and losses for my self

وَلاَ اصْرِفُ عَنْهَا سُوءً

wa la asrifu `anha su'an

and I cannot drive back any evil from myself.

اشْهَدُ بِذٰلِكَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي

ashhadu bidhalika `ala nafsi

I testify to this against myself.

وَاعْتَرِفُ لَكَ بِضَعْفِ قُوَّتِي وَقِلَّةِ حِيلَتِي

wa a`tarifu laka bida`fi quwwati wa qillati hilati

To You do I confess of my powerlessness and my feebleness.

فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

So, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

وَانْجِزْ لِي مَا وَعَدْتَنِي

wa anjiz li ma wa`adtani

and fulfill what You have promised me,

وَجَمِيعَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

wa jami`a almu'minina walmu'minati

as well as all the believing men and women;

مِنَ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ فِي هٰذِهِ ٱللَّيْلَةِ

min almaghfirati fi hadhihi allaylati

that is Your forgiveness at this night,

وَاتْمِمْ عَلَيَّ مَا آتَيْتَنِي

wa atmim `alayya ma ataytani

and accomplish that which You have conferred upon me,

فَإِنِّي عَبْدُكَ ٱلْمِسكِينُ ٱلْمُسْتَكِينُ

fa'inni `abduka almiskinu almustakinu

for I am Your slave—the poor, the humble,

ٱلضَّعِيفُ ٱلْفَقِيرُ ٱلْمَهِينُ

aldda`ifu alfaqiru almahinu

the weak, the needy, and the humiliated.

اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تَجْعَلْنِي نَاسِياً لِذِكْرِكَ فِيمَا اوْلَيْتَنِي

allahumma la taj`alni nasiyan lidhikrika fima awlaytani

O Allah, (please) do not make me negligent of Your mention as regards that which You have bestowed upon me,

وَلاَ غَافِلاً لإِحْسَانِكَ فِيمَا اعْطَيْتَنِي

wa la ghafilan li'ihsanika fima a`taytani

do not make me inadvertent to Your favors to me as regards that which You have given me,

وَلاَ آيِساً مِنْ إِجَابَتِكَ وَإِنْ اَبْطَاتْ عَنِّي

wa la ayisan min ijabatika wa in abta'at `anni

do not make me despair of Your responding to me, even if such response is postponed,

فِي سَرَّاءَ اوْ ضَرَّاءَ

fi sarra'a aw darra'a

whether I be in prosperity, adversity,

اوْ شِدَّةٍ اوْ رَخَاءٍ

aw shiddatin aw rakha'in

hardship, comfort,

اوْ عَافِيَةٍ اوْ بَلاءٍ

aw `afiyatin aw bala'in

wellbeing, ordeal,

اوْ بُؤْسٍ اوْ نَعْمَاءَ

aw bu'sin aw na`ma'a

misery, or bliss.

إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَاءِ

innaka sami`u alddu`a'i

Verily, You are the Hearer of prayers.

One should open the Holy Qur'an and hold it in front of his face. Then recite:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِكِتَابِكَ الْمُنْزَلِ وَ مَا فِيهِ

Alaahumma inni asaloka be kitaabekal munzale Wa maa feeh,

O Allah I beseech Thee in the name of Thy revealed Book and that which is in it,

وَ فِيهِ اسْمُكَ الْأَكْبَرُ وَ أَسْمَاؤُكَ الْحُسْنَى وَ مَا يُخَافُ وَ يُرْجَى أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ عُتَقَائِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

wa feehismokal akbaro wa asmaakal husnaa, wa maa yokhaafo Wa yurjaa an taj-alani min otaqaaeka minan-Naar

and Thy Great Name and Thy (Other) beautiful names are in it, and in it there is that which warns and gives hope to include me among those who have been set free from the Hellfire.

After that one should pray to God for any needs of his.

Take the Holy Qur'an and hold it on your head and recite:

اللّهُمّ بِحَقّ هذَا القُرْآنِ

Allaahumma be haqqe haazal Qur'an

O Allah: for the sake of this (Holy) Qur'an,

وَبِحَقّ مَنْ أَرْسَلْتَهُ بِهِ

we be haqqe man arsaltahoo beh

and for the sake of that person through whom You sent it,

وَبِحَقّ كُلّ مُؤْمِنٍ مَدَحْتَهُ فِيهِ

Wa be haqqe kulle momenin madahtahoo feeh

and for the sake of those believers who have been praised therein,

وَبِحَقّكَ عَلَيْهِمْ

we be haqqeka alaihim

and in the name of Your obligation to them,

فَال أَحَدَ أَعْرَفُ بِحَقّكَ مِنْكَ.

fa-laa ahada a'arafo be haqqeka mink

no one is aware of Your obligation more than You

Recite the below 10 times each

بِكَ يَا اللّهُ،

bika yaallahu

For Your sake, O Allah,

بِمُحَمّدٍ،

bi-muhammadin

for the sake of Muhammad,

بِعَلِيّ،

bi-`aliyyin

for the sake of `Ali,

بِفَاطِمَةَ،

bi-fatimata

for the sake of Fatimah,

بِالحَسَنِ،

bilhasani

for the sake of Hasan,

بِالحُسَيْنِ،

bilhusayni

for the sake of Husayn,

بِعَلِيّ بْنِ الحُسَيْنِ،

bi-`aliyyi bni alhusayni

for the sake of `Ali ibn Husayn,

بِمُحَمّدِ بْنِ عَلِيّ،

bi-muhammadi bni `aliyyin

for the sake of Muhammad ibn `Ali,

بِجَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمّدٍ،

bi-ja`fari bni muhammadin

for the sake of Ja`far ibn Muhammad,

بِمُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ،

bi-musa bni ja`farin

for the sake of Musa ibn Jafar,

بِعَلِيّ بْنِ مُوسَى،

bi-`aliyyi bni musa

for the sake of `Ali ibn Musa,

بِمُحَمّدِ بْنِ عَلِيّ،

bi-muhammadi bni `aliyyin

for the sake of Muhammad ibn `Ali,

بِعَلِيّ بْنِ مُحَمّدٍ،

bi-`aliyyi bni muhammadin

for the sake of `Ali ibn Muhammad,

بِالحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيّ،

bilhasani bni `aliyyin

for the sake of Hasan ibn `Ali,

بِالحُجّةِ،

bilhujjati

for the sake of al-Hujjah.

One should then pray to Almighty Allah to fulfill one’s desires.

Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (as) (on Laylatul Qadr)
Recite the Ziarat of Imam Hussain (A.S.)
According to Hadith, during Lailat-e-Qadr an angel proclaims from the Arsh (throne) on the Seventh sky that Allah has forgiven who have visited the grave of Imam Hussain (as). While performing Ziyarah of Imam Hussain (as), remind yourself that on this night, the souls of 124,000 Prophets (peace be upon them all) visit Imam, who is aware of our inner spiritual reality and is hurt and repulsed by our record of repeated evil deeds, indifference to God’s commandments; thus, we should avoid disgracing ourselves in that great audience of Imam. Also, associate the themes in the ZIYARAH of: - Firm bond of love and obedience of God (SALAT). -Economic betterment of community (ZAKAT). -Overall mobilization of forces towards virtue (AMR BIL MA`RUF). -Overall cleansing of evil from society. -All-out war in all spheres of life to promote truth (JIHAD). -Tremendous endurance of all ensuing difficulties (SABR). -Complete distancing (LA`NAH) from all forms of injustice (DHULM) with destiny- shaping opportunity of this night and resolve to become on active player in improving the future in preparation for the REAPPEARANCE OF AL-MAHDI..

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ امِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ ٱلصِّدِّيقَةِ ٱلطَّاهِرَةِ

alssalamu `alayka yabna alssiddiqati alttahirati

Peace be upon you, O son of the veracious, immaculate lady

فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

Fatimah the Doyenne of the women of the world.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا ابَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya ya aba `abdillahi

Peace be upon you, O my master Abu-`Abdullah.

وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

So be upon you Allah’s mercy and blessings.

اشْهَدُ انَّكَ قَدْ اقَمْتَ ٱلصَّلاَةَ

ashhadu annaka qad aqamta alssalata

I bear witness that you performed the prayers,

وَآتَيْتَ ٱلزَّكَاةَ

wa atayta alzzakata

defrayed the poor-rate,

وَامَرْتَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ

wa amarta bilma`rufi

enjoined the right,

وَنَهَيْتَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنْكَرِ

wa nahayta `an almunkari

forbade the wrong,

وَتَلَوْتَ ٱلْكِتَابَ حَقَّ تِلاَوَتِهِ

wa talawta alkitaba haqqa tilawatihi

recited the Book (i.e. the Holy Qur'an) as exactly as it should be recited,

وَجَاهَدْتَ فِي ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ

wa jahadta fi allahi haqqa jihadihi

strove for the sake of Allah as exactly as striving must be,

وَصَبَرْتَ عَلَىٰ ٱلاذَىٰ فِي جَنْبِهِ مُحْتَسِباً حَتَّىٰ اتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ

wa sabarta `ala al-adha fi janbihi muhtasiban hatta ataka alyaqinu

and faced all troubles steadfastly for His sake, seeking his reward, until death came upon you.

اشْهَدُ انَّ ٱلَّذِينَ خَالَفُوكَ وَحَارَبُوكَ

wa ashhadu anna alladhina khalafuka wa harabuka

I also bear witness that those who dissented you, those who fought against you,

وَٱلَّذِينَ خَذَلُوكَ وَٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوكَ

wa anna alladhina khadhaluka walladhina qataluka

those who let you down, and those who slew you

مَلْعُونُونَ عَلَىٰ لِسَانِ ٱلنَّبِيِّ ٱلامِّيِّ

mal`ununa `ala lisani alnnabiyyi al-ummiyyi

(all those) were accursed directly by the Meccan Prophet.

وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ

wa qad khaba man iftara

And he who forges lies indeed fails to attain his desire.

لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ لَكُمْ مِنَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ

la`ana allahu alzzalimina lakum min al-awwalina wal-akhirina

May Allah curse those who wronged you from amongst the past and the present generations.

وَضَاعَفَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلالِيمَ

wa da`afa `alayhim al`adhaba al-alima

May Allah also double for them the painful torment.

اتَيْتُكَ يَا مَوْلايَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

ataytuka ya mawlaya yabna rasuli allahi

O my master and son of Allah’s Messenger, I have come to you

زَائِراً عَارِفاً بِحَقِّكَ

za'iran `arifan bihaqqika

visiting you, acknowledging the standing that you enjoy,

مُوَالِياً لاِوْلِيَائِكَ

muwaliyan li'awliya'ika

declaring my loyalty to those who are loyal to you,

مُعَادِياً لاِعْدَائِكَ

mu`adiyan li'a`da'ika

renouncing your enemies,

مُسْتَبْصِراً بِٱلْهُدَىٰ ٱلَّذِي انْتَ عَلَيْهِ

mustabsiran bilhuda alladhi anta `alayhi

seeking to follow the true guidance that you are following,

عَارِفاً بِضَلاَلَةِ مَنْ خَالَفَكَ

`arifan bidalalati man khalafaka

and recognizing the deviation of those who oppose you;

فَٱشْفَعْ لِي عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ

fashfa` li `inda rabbika

so, (please) intercede for me before your Lord.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجّةَ ٱللَّهِ فِي ارْضِهِ وَسَمَائِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata allahi fi ardihi wa sama'ihi

Peace be upon you, O Argument of Allah in His lands and heavens.

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رُوحِكَ ٱلطَّيِّبِ وَجَسَدِكَ ٱلطَّاهِرِ

salla allahu `ala ruhika alttayyibi wa jasadika alttahiri

May Allah bless your immaculate spirit and your pure body.

وَعَلَيْكَ ٱلسَّلاَمُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa `alayka alssalamu ya mawlaya wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you, O my master.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ وَٱبْنَ مَوْلاَيَ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya wabna mawlaya

Peace be upon you, O my master and son of my master.

وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

So be upon you Allah’s mercy and blessings.

لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ ظَلَمَكَ

la`ana allahu man zalamaka

May Allah curse those who wronged you.

وَلَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ قَتَلَكَ

wa la`ana allahu man qatalaka

May Allah curse those who slew you.

وَضَاعَفَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلالِيمَ

wa da`afa `alayhim al`adhaba al-alima

May Allah double the painful chastisement for them.

You may then pray Almighty Allah for your personal needs.

Ziyarat of All Martyrs (Tamam Shohada e Karbala)

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ ايُّهَا ٱلصِّدِّيقُونَ

alssalamu `alaykum ayyuha alssiddiquna

Peace be upon you, O veracious ones.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ ايُّهَا ٱلشُّهَدَاءُ ٱلصَّابِرُونَ

alssalamu `alaykum ayyuha alshshuhada'u alssabiruna

Peace be upon you, O steadfast martyrs.

اشْهَدُ انَّكُمْ جَاهَدْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

ashhadu annakum jahadtum fi sabili allahi

I bear witness that you strove in the way of Allah,

وَصَبَرْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ٱلاذَىٰ فِي جَنْبِ ٱللَّهِ

wa sabartum `ala al-adha fi janbi allahi

acted patiently against harm for the sake of Allah,

وَنَصَحْتُمْ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ حَتَّىٰ اتَاكُمُ ٱلْيَقِينُ

wa nasahtum lillahi wa lirasulihi hatta atakum alyaqinu

and did sincerely for the sake of Allah and His Messenger until death came upon you.

اشْهَدُ انّكُمْ احْيَاءٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْزَقُونَ

ashhadu annakum ahya'un `inda rabbikum turzaquna

I bear witness that you are alive and are being provided sustenance from your Lord.

فَجَزَاكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلإِسْلاَمِ وَاهْلِهِ افْضَلَ جَزَاءِ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

fajazakum allahu `an al-islami wa ahlihi afdala jaza'i almuhsinina

May Allah reward you with the best reward of the good-doers on behalf of Islam and its people

وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ فِي مَحَلِّ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

wa jama`a baynana wa baynakum fi mahalli alnna`imi

and may He join us to you in the abode of bliss.

Ziyarat of H. Abbas ibn Ameerul Momineen (as)

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ امِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلْعَبْدُ ٱلصَّالِحُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha al`abdu alssalihu

Peace be upon you, O righteous servant (of Allah)

ٱلْمُطِيعُ لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ

almuti`u lillahi wa lirasulihi

and obedient to Allah and to His Messenger.

اشْهَدُ انَّكَ قَدْ جَاهَدْتَ وَنَصَحْتَ

ashhadu annaka qad jahadta wa nasahta

I bear witness that you strove (in the way of Allah), acted sincerely,

وَصَبَرْتَ حَتَّىٰ اتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ

wa sabarta hatta ataka alyaqinu

and tolerated (harm) until death came upon you.

لَعَنَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ لَكُمْ مِنَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ

la`ana allahu alzzalimina lakum min al-awwalina wal-akhirina

May Allah curse those who wronged you from the past and the present generations

وَالْحَقَهُمْ بِدَرْكِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

wa alhaqahum bidarki aljahimi

and may He send them to the lowest layer of the blazing Hell.

Pray for Others

Keep awake the entire night ,Many Merits narrated for this

Remember Imam Mahdi (atfs)continiously as he is Allah(swt)'s hujjat( proof) on earth whom angels descend & Recite
Allhumma Kunle continiously

اللّهُمّ كُنْ لِوَلِيّكَ الحُجّةِ ابْنِ الحَسَنِ

Allahumma Kum le-waliyyekal Hujjatibnil Hassan

O Allah, be, for Your representative, the Hujjat (proof), son of AlHassan,

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آبَائِهِ

Salwaatoka A'layhe wa a'laa Aaabaa-Ehi

Your blessings be on him and his forefathers,

فِي هذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَفي كُلّ سَاعَةٍ

fee haazehis saa-a'te wa fee kulle saa-a'tin

in this hour and in every hour,

وَلِيّاً وَحَافِظاً

waliyyawn wa haafezawn

a guardian, a protector,

وَقَائِداً وَنَاصِراً

wa qaa-edawn wa naaserawn

a leader, a helper,

وَدَلِيلاً وَعَيْناً

wa daleelawn wa a'ynan

a proof, and an eye.

حَتَّى تُسْكِنَهُ أَرْضَكَ طَوْعاً

hattaa tuskenahu arzaka taw

until You make him live on the earth, in obedience (to you)

وَتُمَتّعَهُ فِيهَا طَوِيلاً.

wa tomatte-a'hu feehaa taweelaa.

and Cause him to live in it for a long time

Recite

اللهم إني أَسْأَلُكَ العَفْوَ والعَافِيَةَ والمُعَافَاةَ في الدُنْيا والآخِرَة

Allhumma Inni Asaloka Al Afwa wal Afiyata , walmuafata fid-dunya wal akhira

O Allah I ask of you Wellbeing & forgiveness in this world & the hereafter

Recite Dua Afiyat

Recite Sura Qadr repeatedly

Recite Dua of Last 10 Nights

How to Farewell the Night of Power (Lailatul-Qadr)
at the end of the night, one should resort (tawassul) to the Impeccable ones (the M'asumin [a]) - to whom that night belongs - should submit his deeds and worships to those exalted ones, with a heart broken, with grief and shedding tears, should request them to make those deeds as righteous, and should intercede with Allah (the Glorious, the Exalted), for their acceptance, and thus making them as fruitful.
