In his book of Miqbs al-Mab, `Allmah al-Majlis says: Imam al-diq (`a) is reported through valid chains of authority to have said: There are three hours at night and three others at day at which Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, glorifies Himself. The three hours of days begin when the sun in the east side is in the same rising in the afternoon on the other (west) side; that is at early forenoon. The three hours of night begin at the last third of night up to dawn. Any servant glorifies Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, at these hours with full heart presence, Almighty Allah will settle his needs, and if he is unhappy (because of sinning), I expect that he will be made happy.
It is most suitable to say the following words of glorification at these hours:
anta allhu l ilha ill anta rabbu al`lamna |
You are Allah; there is no god save You, the Lord of the Worlds. |

Ibn Bbawayh reports Imam al-diq (`a) to have said: Any servant (of God) that repeats the following supplication seven times everyday, Hellfire will ask Almighty Allah to protect him against it:
as'alu allh aljannata |
I beseech Allah for Paradise |
wa a`dhu billhi min alnnri |
and I pray for Allahs protection against the Fire. |
Through another valid chain of authority, Imam al-diq (`a) is also reported to have said: Almighty Allah will certainly forgive any believer who commits forty grand sins every day and night but he then feels sorry for that and prays Almighty Allah to forgive him by saying the following imploration of forgiveness:
astaghfiru allh alladh l ilha ill huwa |
I implore for the forgiveness of Allah save Whom there is no god; |

the wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth, |
dh aljalli wal-ikrmi |
and the Lord of Majesty and Honoring; |
wa as'aluh an yatba `alayya |
and I beseech Him to accept my repentance. |
Through another valid chain of authority, Imam al-diq (`a) is also reported to have said: He who repeats the following doxology seven times everyday is considered to have thanked Almighty Allah as it should be for the past and the coming graces:
All praise be to Allah for all graces that have passed or will come to pass. |
Through another valid chain of authority, Imam al-diq (`a) is also reported to have said: He who repeats the following supplication twenty-five times every day, Almighty Allah will record for him rewards as many as the number of all believers that have passed and all believers that will exist up to the Resurrection Day, will erase sins of the same number that he committed, and will raise him ranks of the same number, too:
allhumma ighfir lilmu'minna walmu'minti walmuslimna walmuslimti |
O Allah, (please) forgive the believing men and women and the Muslim men and women. |
Through another valid chain of authority, Imam al-diq (`a) is also reported to have said: He who repeats the following litany ten times every day, Almighty Allah will fend off from him seventy kinds of tribulations the easiest of which is distress (or, according to another narration, he will never be afflicted by poverty):
l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi |
There is neither might nor power except with Allah. |
Al-Kulayn, al-abris, and other scholars have reported through many chains of authority, some of which are acceptable (asan) and others are valid, that Imam al-diq (`a) said that the Holy Prophet () used to repeat the following two statements seventy times each:
astaghfiru allhu |
I implore Allah for forgiveness. |
atbu il allhi |
I repent to Allah. |
In the books of Kashf al-Ghummah and al-Aml by Shaykh al-s, it is reported through a valid chain of authority that the Holy Prophet () said: He who repeats the following statement one hundred times every day, will be secured against poverty and loneliness in grave, will be granted richness, and the doors to Paradise will be opened before him:
l ilha ill allhu almaliku alaqqu almubnu |
There is no god save Allah; the King and the evident Truth. |
However, this statement has been mentioned in the book of al-Aml as follows:
l ilha ill allhu alaqqu almubnu |
There is no god save Allah; the evident Truth. |
According to the narration mentioned in the books of Thawb al-A`ml and al-Masin, this statement is repeated thirty times.
In his book of al-Da`awt, al-Qub al-Rwand reports Imam al-Ri (`a) to have quoted the Holy Prophet () as saying: He who wishes that his status in the Highest Group excels the status of the warriors for Allahs sake, must repeat the following words of glorification every day. If he has a request to be granted, it will be granted; if he has an enemy to overcome, his enemy will be suppressed; if he has a debt to be settled, his debt will be settled; if he passes by an agony, he will be relieved; and his words will penetrate the Seven Skies to be written down in the Reserved Tablet (al-law al-maf):
subna allh kam yanbagh lillhi |
All glory be to Allah as it should be for Allah. |
walamdu lillhi kam yanbagh lillhi |
All praise be to Allah as it should be for Allah. |
wa l ilha ill allhu kam yanbagh lillhi |
There is no god save Allah as it should be for Allah. |
wallhu akbaru kam yanbagh lillhi |
Allah is the Greatest as it should be for Allah. |
wa l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi |
There is neither might nor power except with Allah. |
wa all allhu `al Muhammadin alnnabiyyi wa `al ahli baytih |
May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, the Prophet, and upon his Household |
wa jam`i almursalna walnnabiyyna |
and all the Messengers and Prophets |
att yar allhu |
until Allah is pleased. |
Through a valid chain of authority, Imam al-Ri (`a) is reported to have related the following story:
A man found a sheet of paper with an inscription and brought it to the Holy Prophet () who, once he read it, called out at people to gather for a congregational prayer. As everybody came, the Holy Prophet () ascended the minbar (i.e. a pulpit in the mosque) and said: This is the scripture of Yusha`, the son of Nn (Prophet Joshua), the successor of Prophet Moses (`a). The inscription reads the following: In the Name of Allah; the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. Your Lord is certainly Kind and Merciful. The best of Allahs servants are the pious, pure, and affectionate; while the most wicked of Allahs servants are so identified that fingers can point at them. He who wishes to have his deeds measured by the fairest balance and to carry out his duties towards the graces that Almighty Allah has bestowed upon him, must say the following litany every day:
subna allh kam yanbagh lillhi |
All glory be to Allah as it should be for Allah. |
walamdu lillhi kam yanbagh lillhi |
All praise be to Allah as it should be for Allah. |
wa l ilha ill allhu kam yanbagh lillhi |
There is no god save Allah as it should be for Allah. |
wa l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi |
There is neither might nor power except with Allah. |
wa all allhu `al Muhammadin wa ahli baytih alnnabiyyi al-ummiyyi |
May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad, and his Household, the Meccan Prophet, |
wa `al jam`i almursalna walnnabiyyna |
and upon all the Messengers and Prophets |
att yar allhu |
until Allah is pleased. |
In the book of al-Balad al-Amn, the Holy Prophet () is quoted to have said: He who repeats the following statement ten times every day, will be released from his sins as if he is on the day when his mother gave birth to him, and Almighty Allah will fend off from him seventy categories of tribulation, including lunacy, mycobacterium, leprosy, and paralysis, and Almighty Allah will appoint seventy angels to pray Him to forgive that person:
bismillhi alrramn alrrami |
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. |
l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi al`aliyyi al`ami |
There is neither might nor power except with Allah, the All-high, the All-great. |
Imam al-diq (`a) is reported to have said: He who repeats the following litany one hundred times every day, will not be afflicted by poverty:
l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi |
There is neither might nor power except with Allah. |
Whoever repeats the following statements one hundred times every day, Almighty Allah will prohibit Hellfire to consume his body:
subna allhi |
All glory be to Allah, |
walamdu lillhi |
all praise be to Allah, |
wa l ilha ill allhu |
there is no god save Allah, |
wallhu akbaru |
and Allah is the Greatest. |
In the book of al-Balad al-Amn, the Holy Prophet () is reported to have said: He who says these words ten times every day, Almighty Allah will forgive four thousand of his grand sins, will save him from the death agonies, the grave pressure, and one hundred of the horrors on the Resurrection Day, will also save him from the evil of Ibls (i.e. Satan) and his troops, will help him settle his debts, and will relieve him from his distress, grief, and anguishes:
a`dadtu likulli hawlin l ilha ill allhu |
I am preparing There is no god save Allah to face any horror; |
wa likulli hammin wa ghammin m sh'a allhu |
and Only that which Allah wills shall come to pass to face any grief and angst; |
wa likulli ni`matin alamdu lillhi |
and All praise be to Allah to thank all graces; |
wa likulli rakh'in alshshukru lillhi |
and All thanks be to Allah to thank all items of luxury; |
wa likulli u`jbatin subna allh |
and All glory be to Allah to express any astonishing matter; |
wa likulli dhanbin astaghfiru allha |
and I implore for Allahs forgiveness to face any sin; |
and We are Allahs and to Him shall we return to face any misfortune; |
wa likulli qin asbiya allhu |
and Allah is sufficient to me to face any distress; |
wa likulli qa'in wa qadarin tawakkaltu `al allh |
and In Allah do I trust to face any unexpected matter; |
wa likulli `aduwwin i`taamtu billhi |
and In Allah do I take shelter to face any enemy; |
and There is neither might nor power except with Allah, the All-High, the All-great to face any act of obedience or disobedience. |
Al-Kulayn, Ibn Bbawayh, and al-Barq, may Allahs mercy be upon them, have reported through valid chains of authority that Imam al-diq (`a) said: He who repeats the following statement ten times every day, Almighty Allah will record for him forty-five thousand rewards, erase forty-five thousand of his sins, raise him forty-five thousand ranks towards Paradise, his saying will be shelter against Satan and despotic rulers, and no grand sin will surround him.
According to another narration, he will be granted the reward of one who has recited the entire Qur'n twelve times and Almighty Allah will build a house in Paradise for him.
In the narration of Ibn Bbawayh, it is not mentioned that the statement must be repeated ten times:
ashhadu an l ilha ill allhu |
I bear witness that there is no god save Allah, |
wadah l sharka lah |
One and Only and having no associate with Him (in Godhead); |
ilhan widan |
He is the One God; |
aadan amadan |
the Unique, the Besought of all; |
lam yattakhidh ibatan wa l waladan |
He has taken to Himself neither a wife nor a son. |
In the book of Thawb al-A`ml, al-Masin, and al-Kf, Imam al-diq (`a) is reported to have quoted the Holy Prophet () as saying: He who repeats the following saying fifteen times every day, Almighty Allah will receive him with His Face and will not turn His Face away from him before he enters Paradise:
l ilha ill allhu aqqan aqqan |
There is no god save Allah, indeed, indeed. |
l ilha ill allhu mnan wa tadqan |
There is no god save Allah, having faith in and giving credence to Him. |
l ilha ill allhu `ubdiyyatan wa riqqan |
There is no god save Allah, worshipping and serving Him. |
In the book of al-Masin, the following is reported from the Holy Prophet ():
To glorify Almighty Allah one hundred times every day is better than offering one hundred camels as presents to the Holy House of Allah:
subna allhi |
All glory be to Allah. |
To praise Almighty Allah one hundred times every day is better than manumitting one hundred slaves:
alamdu lillhi |
All praise be to Allah. |
To profess Almighty Allah being the Greatest (i.e. too great to be described) one hundred times every day is better than offering hundred horses, along with their saddles and reins, in the way of Allah (i.e. in holy wars):
allhu akbaru |
Allah is the Greatest. |
To profess Almighty Allah being the one and only god one hundred times every day is better than the deeds of all peoples, except those who repeat it more than one hundred times:
l ilha ill allhu |
There is no god save Allah. |
Al-Qub al-Rwand has related the following story:
A worshipper from the children of Israel (i.e. Israelites) asked Allah the Almighty and Majestic, saying, O Lord! What is my status with You? If it is praiseworthy, then I will try to add up to my good deeds; but if it is blameworthy, I will repent to You before I die.
Replying to his question, Almighty Allah sent to him one of His angels to tell him that he has no good point with Allah.
O Lord! asked the man, Where are then all my deeds?
The Lord answered, Whenever you did a good deed, you told people about it so that they would consider you virtuous and mention you reputably. Therefore, no reward will be given for your deeds except the reward that you have accepted for yourself.
This fact disturbed and aggrieved the man extremely; therefore, Almighty Allah sent the same angel to convey the following message to him: Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, says to you that you must purchase yourself from Him with alms that you must give every day for each one of your veins.
The man asked, O Lord! Is there any creature able to do that?
The Almighty instructed, You may repeat the following statement three hundred and sixty times, the number of your veins, every day:
subna allhi |
All glory be to Allah, |
walamdu lillhi |
all praise be to Allah, |
wa l ilha ill allhu |
there is no god save Allah, |
wallhu akbaru |
Allah is the Greatest, |
wa l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi |
and there is neither might nor power except with Allah. |
The man said, O Lord! Please, give me more.
The Almighty said, If you add to the number, I will add to you.
Al-Kulayn has reported through a valid chain of authority that Imam al-diq (`a) said: The Holy Prophet () used to repeat the following doxology three hundred and sixty times, the number of the veins, each day:
alamdu lillhi rabbi al`lamna kathran `al kulli lin |
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, very much for all conditions. |
Another tradition reported from Imam al-diq (`a) holds: He who says the following imploration for Almighty Allahs forgiveness four hundred times each day for two successive months, will be granted much knowledge or much fortune:
astaghfiru allh alladh l ilha ill huwa |
I implore for the forgiveness of Allah save Whom there is no god, |
alayyu alqayymu |
the Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting, |
alrramna alrrama |
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful, |
bad`u alssamwti wal-ari |
and the wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth, |
min jam`i ulm wa jurm |
for all of my wrongdoings, offenses, |
wa isrf `al nafs |
and transgressions against myself; |
wa atbu ilayhi |
and I repent to Him. |
Al-s and other scholars have stated that it is a highly recommended tradition to say the following prayer every day:
allhumma inn as'aluka binri wajhika |
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of the light of Your face, |
almushriqi alayyi |
the shining, the ever-living, |
albq alkarmi |
the perpetual, and the noble; |
wa as'aluka binri wajhika alquddsi |
and I beseech You in the name of the light of Your Face, |
alladh ashraqat bih alssamwtu |
by which the heavens have shone, |
wankashafat bih alulumtu |
the darkness has been brought to light, |
wa alua `alayhi amru al-awwalna wal-khirna |
and the affairs of the past and the last generations have been set aright, |
an tualliya `al Muhammadin wa lih |
to send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household |
wa an tulia l sha'n kullah |
and set aright all of my affairs. |
Al-Kaf`am has reported Imam al-Bqir (`a) as saying: He who says the following supplication every day, Almighty Allah will suffice him from the troubles of his two abodes (i.e. the worldly life and the Next Life):
bismillhi |
In the Name of Allah. |
asbiya allhu |
Sufficient to me is Allah. |
tawakkaltu `al allhi |
In Allah I put my trust. |
allhumma inn as'aluka khayra umr kullih |
O Allah, I beseech You for the best of all of my affairs |
wa a`dhu bika min khizyi aldduny wa `adhbi al-khirati |
and I pray for Your protection against disgrace in this world and chastisement in the Hereafter. |
It is also reported that whoever repeats the following litany seven times every day, Almighty Allah will suffice him from the troubles of his two abodes:
asbiya allhu |
Sufficient to me is Allah. |
rabbiya allhu |
My Lord is Allah. |
l ilha ill huwa |
There is no god but Him. |
`alayhi tawakkaltu |
on Him do I rely |
wa huwa rabbu al`arshi al`ami |
and He is the Lord of the Great Throne. |
It has been also reported that whoever says the following words of glorification every day for a whole year, will not die before he sees (in dream) his place in Paradise:
subna aldd'imi alq'imi |
All glory be to the Eternal and Self-Existent. |
subna alq'imi aldd'imi |
All glory be to the Self-Existent and Eternal. |
subna alwidi al-aadi |
All glory be to the One and Single. |
subna alfardi alamadi |
All glory be to the Unique and eternally besought of All. |
subna alayyi alqayymi |
All glory be to the Ever-living and Self-subsisting. |
subna allhi wa biamdih |
All glory be to Allah and in praise of Him. |
subna alayyi alladh l yamtu |
All glory be to the Ever-living Who never dies. |
subna almaliki alquddsi |
All glory be to the King and All-holy. |
subna rabbi almal'ikati walrri |
All glory be to the Lord of the angels and the Spirit. |
subna al`aliyyi al-a`l |
All glory be to the All-high and Most High. |
subnah wa ta`l |
All glory be to Him and Exalted be He. |
