You may then offer the Ghufaylah Prayer in the period between the Sunset (maghrib) and the Evening (`ish') Prayers. This prayer consists of two units in the first of which you should recite, after Srah al-Ftiah, the following verses (Srah al-Anbiy' 21:87-88):
wa dh alnnni idh dhahaba mughiban |
And (mention) Dhu'n-Nn (Jonah), when he went off in anger |
faanna an lan naqdira `alayhi |
and deemed that We would not suppress his sustenance. |
fand f alulumti |
But he cried out in the darkness, |
an l ilha ill anta subnaka |
There is no god save You. Be You Glorified! |
inn kuntu min allimna |
Lo! I have been a wrongdoer. |
fastajabn lah wa najjaynhu min alghammi |
Then we heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish. |
wa kadhlika nunj almu'minna |
Thus do we save the believers. |
In the second unit, you should recite, after Srah al-Ftiah, the following verse (6:59):
wa `indahu maftiu alghaybi |
And with Him are the keys of the Invisible. |
l ya`lamuh ill huwa |
None but He knows them. |
wa ya`lamu m f albarri walbari |
And He knows what is in the land and the sea. |
Not a leaf falls but He knows it, |
wa l abbatin f ulumti al-ari |
not a grain amid the darkness of the earth, |
wa l rabin wa l ybisin |
naught of wet or dry |
ill f kitbin mubnin |
but (it is noted) in a clear record. |
After that, you should raise your both hands for Qunt, saying:
allhumma inn as'aluka bimaftii alghaybi |
O Allah, I beseech You in the name of the Keys of the Invisible (world) |
allat l ya`lamuh ill anta |
that none knows save You; |
an tualliya `al muammadin wa lih |
(please) send blessings to Muammad and his Household and... |
You may then mention your needs.
Then, say the following:
allhumma anta waliyyu ni`mat |
O Allah, You are the source of the graces that I have, |
walqdiru `al alibat |
You have the power to respond to my request, |
ta`lamu jat |
and You know my needs; |
fa-as'aluka biaqqi muammadin wa lih |
I therefore beseech You in the name of Muammad and his Household, |
`alayhi wa `alayhimu alssalmu |
peace be upon him and them, |
lamm qaaytah l |
to grant me my needs. |
You may then pray to Him for your personal needs, for it has been narrated that any one who offers this prayer and supplicates to Almighty Allah will have his requests granted.
