Though authoritative chains of authority, It is narrated that Imam `Al ibn Muammad al-Hd (a) said the following form of ziyrah at the holy tomb of Imam `Al Amr al-Mu'minn (a) on the Ghadr day when he was summoned by the `Abbsid ruler, al-Mu`taim, to be present before him in Iraq:
With the intention of visiting the holy tomb of Imam `Al (a), you may stop at the gate of the dome of the holy shrine and seek permission of entrance. However, Shaykh al-Mufd says that you may wash yourself, put on the cleanest of your clothes, and say the following form of seeking permission, which, beginning with the following statement, has been cited in the previous section of this book:
allhumma inn waqaftu `al bbin |
O Allah, I am standing at one of the doors |
min abwbi buyti nabiyyika |
of Your Prophets Houses |
alawtuka `alayhi wa lih |
may Your blessings be upon him and his Household |
You may then enter there with your right foot and walk until you stop at the holy tomb, which you may face and make the kiblah direction to be between your shoulders

and worshipped Allah with full sincerity to Him in obedience |

alssalmu `alayka y sayyida almuslimna |
Peace be upon you, O chief of the Muslims, |
wa ya`sba almu'minna |
head of the believers, |
wa imma almuttaqna |
guide of the pious ones, |
wa q'ida alghurri almuajjalna |
and leader of the white-forehead ones. |
wa ramatu allhi wa baraktuh |
Allahs mercy and blessings be upon you. |
ash-hadu annaka akh rasli allhi |
I bear witness that you are indeed the brother of Allahs Messenger, |
wa waiyyuh wa writhu `ilmih |
the successor of him, the heir of his knowledge, |
wa amnuh `al shar`ih |
his trustee on his laws, |
wa khalfatuh f ummatih |
his representative in his nation, |
wa awwalu man mana billhi |
and the first to believe in Allah |
wa addaqa bim unzila `al nabiyyih |
and to accept as true all that which was revealed to Allahs Prophet. |
wa ashhadu annah qad ballagha `an allhi m anzalah fka |
I also bear witness that he (i.e. the Prophet) conveyed all that which Allah revealed to him concerning you; |
faada`a bi-amrih |
so, he expounded openly what he was commanded (to expound), |
wa awjaba `al ummatih fara `atika wa wilyatika |
declared to his nation the duty of obedience and loyalty to you, |
wa `aqada `alayhimu albay`ata laka |
ordered them to swear allegiance to you, |
wa ja`alaka awl bilmu'minna min anfusihim |
and declared you as enjoying more priority on the believers than that which they enjoy on themselves |
kam ja`alah allhu kadhlika |
in the same was as Allah has made him enjoy the same. |
thumma ashhada allha ta`l `alayhim |
He then asked Allah the All-exalted to be the witness on them (in this respect), |
faqla alastu qad ballaghtu |
saying, Have I conveyed? |
faql allhumma bal |
They answered, Yes, you have. We swear to it by Allah. |
faqla allhumma ishhad |
He thus said, O Allah, be the witness |
wa kaf bika shahdan wa kiman bayna al`ibdi |
and You are sufficient Witness and Judge between the servants (0f Yours). |
fala`ana allhu jida wilyatika ba`da al-iqrri |
Hence, curse of Allah be upon him who denied the allegiance to you after he had confessed of it |
wa nkitha `ahdika ba`da almthqi |
and upon him who breached his pledge to you after he had taken it. |
wa ashhadu annaka wafayta bi`ahdi allhi ta`l |
I also bear witness that you have indeed observed your pledge to Almighty Allah |
wa anna allha ta`l mfin laka bi`ahdih |
and that Almighty Allah, in return, shall observe His pledge to you. |
wa man awf bim `hada `alayhu allha fasayu'thi ajran `aman |
Therefore, whoever fulfills what he has covenanted with Allah, He will grant him a mighty reward. |
wa ashhadu annaka amru almu'minna alaqqu |
I also bear witness that you are truly the commander of the faithful, |
alladh naaqa biwilyatika alttanzlu |
the Divine Revelation did declare your commissioned leadership, |
wa akhadha laka al`ahda `al al'ummati bidhlika alrraslu |
and the Messenger made a covenant with the people (that they would be under your leadership). |
wa ashhadu annaka wa `ammaka wa akhka |
I also bear witness that you, along with your uncle and brother, |
alladhna tjartumu allha binufsikum |
traded with Allah in your souls; |
fa'anzala allhu fkum |
He therefore revealed about you this: |
inna allha ishtar min almu'minna anfusahum wa amwlahum |
Surely, Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, |
bi'anna lahumu aljannata |
that they shall have Paradise; |
yuqtilna f sabli allhi fayaqtulna wa yuqtalna |
they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain; |
a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Bible and the Qur'n; |
wa man awf bi`ahdih min allhi |
and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? |
fastabshir bibay`ikumu alladh bya`tum bih |
Rejoice therefore in the pledge which you have made; |
wa dhlika huwa alfawzu al`amu |
and that is the mighty achievement. |
altt'ibna al`bidna |
They who turn to Allah, who serve Him, |
almidna alss'ina |
who praise Him, who fast, |
alrrki`na alssjidna |
who bow down, who prostrate themselves, |
al-mirna bilma`rfi walnnhna `an almunkari |
who enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, |
walfina liuddi allhi wa bashshir almu'minna |
and who keep the limits of Allah; and give good news to the believers. |
ashhadu y amra almu'minna |
O Commander of the Faithful, I bear witness |
anna alshshkka fka m mana bilrrasli al-amni |
that whoever doubts about you has never believed in the Trusted Messenger, |
wa anna al`dila bika ghayraka `nidun `an alddni alqawmi |
and whoever leaves you to choose another (as his leader) has indeed diverted the true religion, |
alladh irtahu lan rabbu al`lamna |
that the Lord of the worlds has chosen for us, |
wa akmalah biwilyatika yawma alghadri |
and that He completed it on the Ghadr Day through (declaring) the Divinely commissioned leadership of you. |
wa ashhadu annaka alma`niyyu biqawli al`azzi alrrami |
And I bear witness that you are the one intended in the following saying of the Almighty, All-merciful Lord: |
wa anna hdh ir mustaqman fattabi`hu |
And this is My path, the right one; therefore, follow it, |
wa l tattabi` alssubula fatafarraqa bikum `an sablih |
and follow not other ways, for they will lead you away from His way. |
alla wallhi wa aalla man ittaba`a siwka |
I swear by Allah that whoever follows any one other than you has in fact strayed off the right way and misled others (i.e. those who imitate him), |
wa `anada `an alaqqi man `dka |
and that whoever incurs the hostility of you has undoubtedly rejected the right. |
allhumma sami`n li'amrika |
O Allah, we have listened to Your command |
wa aa`n wattaba`n iraka almustaqma |
obeyed, and followed Your straight path; |
fahdin rabban |
therefore, (please do) guide us, O our Lord! |
And do not cause our hearts to deviate after You have guided us to the obedience to You, |
waj`aln min alshshkirna li'an`umika |
and include us with those who always thank You for Your bounties. |
wa ashhadu annaka lam tazal lilhaw mukhlifan |
And I also bear witness that you have always been at variance with whimsical desires |
wa lilttuq mulifan |
as you have always been in line with piety, |
wa `al kami alghayi qdiran |
you have always been capable of suppressing your rage, |
wa `an alnnsi `fiyan ghfiran |
you have always forgiven and pardoned people, |
wa idh `uiya allhu skhian |
and when Allah is disobeyed, you have always been furious, |
wa idh u`a allhu riyan |
and when He is obeyed, you have always been pleased, |
wa bim `ahida ilayka `milan |
and you have always carried out what Allah has commissioned you to do, |
r`iyan lim istufita |
you have always observed what has been entrusted with you, |
fian lim istdi`ta |
you have always kept what has been confided to you, |
muballighan m ummilta |
you have always conveyed what you were ordered to convey, |
muntairan m wu`idta |
and you have always expected that which you were promised. |
wa ashhadu annaka m ittaqayta ri`an |
And I bear witness that as you sometimes conceded some things, you did not do that on account of humiliation, |
wa l amsakta `an aqqika jzi`an |
and as you sometimes did not demand with your right, you did not do that on account of fear, |
wa l ajamta `an mujhadati ghibka nkilan |
and as you sometimes stopped combating those who usurped your right, you did not do so on account of weakness, |
wa l aharta alrri bikhilfi m yur allha mudhinan |
and as you (on a certain occasion) showed contentment to things to which Allah is not pleased, you did not do so on account of flattery, |
wa l wahanta lim abaka f sabli allhi |
and you have never been weakened by what befell you for the sake of Allah, |
wa l a`ufta wa l istakanta `an alabi aqqika murqiban |
and you have never been feeble and you have never abased yourself as regards demanding with your rights on account of fear. |
ma`dha allhi an takna kadhlika |
I seek Allahs refuge against such claims; |
bal idh ulimta itasabta rabbaka |
rather, when you were wronged, you relied upon your Lord in these questions |
wa fawwata ilayhi amraka |
and entrusted your affair to Him, |
wa dhakkartahum fam iddakar |
and as you reminded them (of their allegiance to you), they did not regard it, |
wa wa`atahum fam itta`a |
and as you preached them, they did not accept from you, |
wa khawwftahum allha fam takhawwaf |
and as you instructed them to fear Allah, they did not mind. |
wa ashhadu annaka y amra almu'minna |
I also bear witness, O Commander of the Faithful, |
jhadta f allhi aqqa jihdih |
that you strove in the way of Allah in the most appropriate way |
att da`ka allhu il jiwrih |
until Allah summoned you to be in His vicinity, |
wa qabaaka ilayhi bikhtiyrih |
chose to grasp you, |
wa alzama a`d'aka alujjata biqatlihim iyyka |
and established the argument against your enemies who killed you, |
litakna alujjatu laka `alayhim |
so that you should have argument against them, |
although you enjoy conclusive arguments against all of His creatures. |
alssalmu `alayka y amra almu'minna |
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful. |
`abadta allha mukhlian |
You have worshipped Allah sincerely, |
wa jhadta f allhi biran |
striven in the way of Allah steadfastly, |
wa judta binafsika mutasiban |
sacrificed yourself, seeking Allahs judgment, |
wa `amilta bikitbih |
acted upon His Book, |
wattaba`ta sunnata nabiyyih |
followed His Prophets instructions, |
wa aqamta alalta |
performed the prayers, |
wa tayta alzzakta |
paid the zakt, |
wa amarta bilma`rfi |
enjoined what is right, |
wa nahayta `an almunkari m istaa`ta |
and forbidden what is wrong as much as you could, |
mubtaghiyan m `inda allhi |
seeking what is possessed by Allah |
rghiban fm wa`ada allhu |
and desiring for that which Allah has promised. |
l tafilu bilnnaw'ibi |
You have never cared for misfortunes, |
wa l tahinu `inda alshshad'idi |
never yielded to the hardships, |
wa l tajimu `an muribin |
and never stopped fighting against any warrior on account of fear. |
afika man nasaba ghayra dhlika ilayka |
Indeed, whoever claims anything opposite to this to you is actually fabricating |
waftar bilan `alayka |
and is forging lies to you, |
wa awl liman `anada `anka |
and whoever leaves your path is drawing himself near to destruction. |
laqad jhadta f allhi aqqa aljihdi |
You have certainly striven in the way of Allah as exactly as required, |
wa abarta `al al-adh abra itisbin |
stood harm for the sake of Allah, |
wa anta awwalu man mana billhi |
have been the foremost to believe in Allah, |
wa all lah wa jhada |
the first to offer prayer and to strive, |
wa abd afatah f dri alshshirki |
and the first to expose himself in the land of the polytheists, |
wal-aru mashnatun allatan |
while the lands were suffocated with deviation, |
walshshaynu yu`badu jahratan |
Satan was worshipped openly, |
wa anta alq'ilu l tazdun kathratu alnnsi awl `izzatan |
and (in the midst of this) you said, The big number of people that surround me shall never increase my might, |
wa l tafarruquhum `ann washatan |
nor shall their departing me make me feel lonely. |
wa law aslaman alnnsu jam`an lam akun mutaarri`an |
I thus shall never submit even if all peoples desert me. |
i`taamta billhi fa`azazta |
Because you resorted to Allah, you were the mightiest, |
wa tharta al'khirata `al al'l fazahidta |
and because you preferred the Next World to this worldly life, you have been ascetic. |
wa ayydaka allhu wa hadka |
Thus, Allah supported, guided, |
wa akhlaaka wajtabka |
chose, and selected you. |

Your deeds were never contradictory, |
wa l ikhtalafat aqwluka |
your words were never paradoxical, |
wa l taqallabat awluka |
your situations were never fickle, |
wa l idda`ayta wa l iftarayta `al allhi kadhiban |
you have never claimed falsely or forged lies against Allah, |
wa l sharihta il alumi |
you have never been greedy for the wreckage of this world, |
wa l dannasaka al'thmu |
you have never been defiled by sins, |
wa lam tazal `al bayyinatin min rabbika |
you have always had manifest proof from your Lord, |
wa yaqnin min amrika |
and you have always been certain of what you do, |
tahd il alaqqi wa il irin mustaqmin |
as you used to guide to the right and to a straight path. |
ashhadu shahdata aqqin |
I bear true witness |
wa uqsimu billhi qasama idqin |
and I truly swear by Allah |
anna muammadan wa lah alawtu allhi `alayhim sdtu alkhalqi |
that Muammad and his Householdmay Allahs blessings be upon themare the masters of all creatures |
wa annaka mawlya wa mawl almu'minna |
and you are indeed my master and the master of all believers, |
wa annaka `abdu allhi wa waliyyuh |
the servant and friend of Allah, |
wa akh alrrasli wa waiyyuh wa writhuh |
the brother, successor, and heir of the Messenger, |
wa annah alq'ilu laka |
who used to say to you, |
walladh ba`athan bilaqqi m mana b man kafara bika |
I swear this by Him Who sent me with the truth: whoever denies you has never believed in me, |
wa l aqarra billhi man jaadaka |
whoever rejects you has never confessed of Allahs existence, |
wa qad alla man adda `anka |

wa lam yahtadi il allhi wa l ilayya man l yahtad bika |
and whoever is not guided be you has never found the way to Allah or to me. |
wa huwa qawlu rabb `azza wa jalla |
Confirming this, my Lord the the Almighty and All-majestic says, |
wa inn laghaffrun liman tba wa mana wa `amila lian |
Most surely, I am most Forgiving to him who repents and believes and does good, |

O master, your favor cannot be concealed |
wa nruka l yufa'u |
and your light cannot be extinguished. |
wa anna man jaadaka alalmu al-ashq |
Verily, he who rejects you shall be the most misfortunate wrongdoer. |
mawlya anta alujjatu `al al`ibdi |
O master, you are the (Divine) claim against the servants, |

the guiding to uprightness, |
wal`uddatu lilma`di |
and our means on the Promised Day. |
mawlya laqad rafa`a allhu f al'l manzilataka |
O master, Allah has indeed elevated your standing in this world, |
wa a`l f al'khirati darajataka |
raised your rank in the Hereafter, |
wa baaraka m `amiya `al man khlafaka |
and led you to that which has not been seen by those who antagonized you, |

fala`ana allhu mustaill alurmati minka |
So, curse of Allah be upon those who violated your sanctity |
wa dh'id alaqqi `anka |
and those who prevented you from taking your right. |
wa ashhadu annahum al-akhsarna |
I do bear witness that these are the biggest losers |
alladhna talfau wujhahum alnnru |
whose faces shall be scorched by Hellfire |
wa hum fh klina |
and they therein shall be in severe affliction. |
wa ashhadu annaka m aqdamta wa l ajamta |
And I bear witness that whenever you did something or you avoided doing something, |
wa l naaqta wa l amsakta |
and whenever you said something or you kept silent; |
ill bi-amrin min allhi wa raslih |
all these were by the order of Allah and His Messenger. |
qulta walldh nafs biyadih |
You thus said, I swear this by Him Who grasps my soul: |

I would like to further inform you that your death and your lifestyle shall be with me and according to my instruction. |
fawallhi m kadhibtu wa l kudhdhibtu |
(Imam `Al continued,) I swear by Allah that I have not told untruth and none shall belie me, |

and I have never strayed off and none shall ever mislead me, |
wa l nastu m `ahida ilayya rabb |
and I have never forgotten my Lords instructions to me, |

and I do follow the true path of my Lord that He showed His Prophet |
wa bayyanah alnnabiyyu l |
and the Prophet showed me, |
and, most certainly, I am following the lucid path step by step. |
adaqta wallhi wa qulta alaqqa |
By Allah I swear, true are your words and you have said nothing but the truth. |
fala`ana allhu man swka biman nwka |
Curse of Allah be upon those who compare you to your enemies, |
wallhu jalla ismuh yaqlu |
while Allah, Whose Name be elevated, says, |

fala`ana allhu man `adala bika man faraa allhu `alayhi wilyataka |
So, the curse of Allah be upon those who compared you to those whom Allah has ordered to follow your leadership, |

hence, Almighty Allah says, |

And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
wa qla allhu ta`l |
Almighty Allah has also said, |

Do you make one who undertakes the giving of drink to the pilgrims and the guarding of the Sacred Mosque |

I bear witness that Allahs words of praise mean you exclusively |

and you are the most sincere in the obedience to Allah |

and you have never associated anyone in your worshipping your Lord. |
wa anna allha ta`l istajba linabiyyih |
And Almighty Allah has responded the prayer of His Prophet |

wa i`lnan liburhnika |
declaration of the evidence on your leadership, |
wa daan lil'abli |
refutation of the false claims, |
wa qa`an lilma`dhri |
and repudiation of all excuses. |
falamm ashfaqa min fitnati alfsiqna |
But when he (i.e. the Prophet) worried about the sedition that would be aroused by the transgressing group due to such declaration |
wattaq fka almunfiqna |
and he did not want you to be faced by the hypocrites, |
aw ilayhi rabbu al`lamna |
the Lord of the worlds revealed to him, saying, |
y ayyuh alrraslu balligh m unzila ilayka min rabbika |
O Messenger! Proclaim the message which has been sent to you from your Lord. |
wa in lam taf`al fam ballaghta rislatah |
If you did it not, you would not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. |
wallhu ya`imuka min alnnsi |
And Allah will defend you from men (who mean mischief). |
fawaa`a `al nafsih awzra almasri |
Accordingly, he (i.e. the Prophet) burdened himself with the loads of (long) walking |
wa nahaa f ram'i alhajri |
and stood up under the burning sun in the midst of the desert, |
fakhaaba wa asma`a |
where he delivered a speech, made everyone listen to him, |
wa nd fa'ablagha |
and called upon them with rhetorical language. |
thumma sa'alahum ajma`a |
He then asked them all, |
faqla hal ballaghtu |
Have I conveyed (the message)? |
faql allhumma bal |
Yes, you have. We swear it by Allah, they answered. |
faqla allhumma ishhad |
O Allah, be the witness! the Prophet said. |
thumma qla alastu awl bilmu'minna min anfusihim |
He then added, Do I not enjoy more priority to the selves of the believers than that which they enjoy on themselves? |
faql bal |
Yes, you do, answered they. |
fa'akhadha biyadika wa qla |
Hen then took you from the hand and said, |
man kuntu mawlhu fahdh `aliyyun mawlhu |
This `Al is now the master of every one who has betaken me as his master. |
allhumma wli man wlhu |
O Allah, (please do) support those who support `Al, |
wa `di man `dhu |
be the enemy of those who incur the hostility of `Al, |
wanur man naarah |
give victory to those who stand by `Al, |
wakhdhul man khadhalah |
and disappoint those who disappoint `Al. |
fam mana bim anzala allhu fka `al nabiyyih ill qallun |
Nevertheless, none believed in what Allah has revealed to His Prophet about you except a few. |
wa l zda aktharahum ghayra takhyyrin |
Similarly, this (Divinely commissioned) declaration did not increase others but obstinacy. |
wa laqad anzala allhu ta`l fka min qablu wa hum krihna |
In defiance of them, Almighty Allah had revealed in this connection: |
y ayyuh alladhna man |
O you who believe! |
man yartadda minkum `an dnih |
Whoever from among you turns back from his religion, |
then Allah will bring a people. He shall love them and they shall love Him. |
adhillatin `al almu'minna |
(They shall be) lowly before the believers, |
a`izzatin `al alkfirna |
mighty against the unbelievers. |
yujhidna f sabli allhi |
They shall strive hard in Allah's way |
wa l yakhfna lawmata l'imin |
and shall not fear the censure of any censurer. |
dhlika falu allhi yu'thi man yash'u |
This is Allah's favor; He gives it to whom He pleases. |
wallhu wsi`un `almun |
And Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing. |
innam waliyyukum allhu wa rasluh walladhna man |
Only Allah is your Guardian and His Messenger and those who believe: |
alladhna yuqmna alalta |
those who keep up prayers |
and give alms while they are in the state of the genuflection of prayer. |
wa man yatawalla allha wa raslah walladhna man |
And whoever takes Allah and His messenger and those who believe for a guardian, |
fa'inna izba allhi hum alghlibna |
then, surely, the party of Allah are they that shall be triumphant. |
rabban mann bim anzalta wattaba`n alrrasla |
Our Lord! We believe in what You have revealed and we follow the messenger; |
faktubn ma`a alshshhidna |
so, write us down with those who bear witness. |
Our Lord! Make not our hearts to deviate after You have guided us aright. |
wa hab lan min ladunka ramatan |
And grant us from Your mercy. |
innaka anta alwahhbu |
Surely, You are the most liberal Giver. |
allhumma inn na`lamu anna hdh huwa alaqqu min `indika |
O Allah, We do realize that this is the truth whose source is You. |
fl`an man `raah wastakbara |
So, curse those who object, act arrogantly (towards it), |
wa kadhdhaba bih wa kafara |
belie, and deny it. |
wa saya`lamu alladhna alam ayya munqalabin yanqalibna |
And they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. |
alssalmu `alayka y amra almu'minna |
Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful, |
wa sayyida alwaiyyna |
chief of the Prophets successors, |
wa awwala al`bidna |
foremost of the worshippers, |
wa azhada alzzhidna |
and most ascetic. |
wa ramatu allhi wa baraktuh |
May Allahs mercy and blessings be upon you. |
wa alawtuh wa taiyytuh |
So be His peace and compliments. |
anta mu`imu ala`mi `al ubbih misknan wa yatman wa asran |
It is you who served a poor man, an orphan, and a prisoner with food on account of your love for Him, |
liwajhi allhi l turdu minhum jaz'an wa l shukran |
(you did so) for the sake of Allah, while you did not ask for reward or thanks. |
wa fka anzala allhu ta`l |
Hence, Almighty Allah has revealed the following about you: |
wa yu'thirna `al anfusihim wa law kna bihim khaatun |
And they prefer them to themselves though poverty may afflict them. |
wa man yqa shua nafsih fa'ul'ika hum almuflina |
And whoever is preserved from the niggardliness of his soul, these it is that are the successful ones. |
wa anta alkimu lilghayi |
Verily, it is you who is the suppressor of rage |
wal`f `an alnnsi |
and it is you who is the pardoner of people, |
wallhu yuibbu almusinna |
and Allah loves the good-doers. |
wa anta albiru f alba's'i walarr'i wa na alba'si |
It is also you who is the steadfast in distress and affliction, as well as in times of conflicts. |
wa anta alqsimu bilssawiyyati |
And it is you who distributes things completely equally, |
wal`dilu f alrra`iyyati |
who is just among the subjects, |
wal`limu biuddi allhi min jam`i albariyyati |
and the one having full acquaintance with the laws of Allah among all people. |
wallhu ta`l akhbara `amm awlka min falih biqawlih |
Informing about the favors that He has conferred upon you, Allah the All-exalted says, |
afaman kna mu'minan kaman kna fsiqan |
Is he then who is a believer like him who is a transgressor? |
l yastawna |
They are not equal. |
amm alladhna man wa `amil alliti |
As for those who believe and do good, |
falahum janntu alma'w nuzulan bim kn ya`malna |
the gardens of Paradise are their abiding-place; an entertainment for what they did. |
wa anta almakhu bi`ilmi alttanzli |
It is you to whom the knowledge of the Divine Revelation is given exclusively |
wa ukmi altta'wli |
as well as the laws of true interpretation (of the Holy Qur'n) |
wa nai alrrasli |
and the words of the Messenger. |
wa laka almawqifu almashhdatu |
You are known for your unforgettable situations, |
walmaqmtu almashhratu |
renowned positions, |
wal-ayymu almadhkratu |
and memorable events, |
yawma badrin wa yawma al-azbi |
in the Battle of Badr and the Battle of the Allies (al-Azb): |
idh zghat al-abru wa balaghat alqulbu alanjira |
When the eyes turned dull, and the hearts rose up to the throats, |
wa taunnna billhi alunna |
and you began to think diverse thoughts of Allah. |
hunlika ibtuliya almu'minna wa zulzil zilzlan shaddan |
There, the believers were tried and they were shaken with severe shaking. |
wa idh yaqlu almunfiqna walladhna f qulbihim maraun |
And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was a disease began to say: |
m wa`adan allhu wa rasluh ill ghurran |
Allah and His Messenger did not promise us (victory) but only to deceive. |
wa idh qlat 'ifatun minhum |
And when a party of them said, |
y ahla yathriba l muqma lakum farji` |
O people of Yathrib! There is no place to stand for you here; therefore, go back. |
wa yasta'dhinu farqun minhum alnnabiyya |
And a party of them asked permission of the prophet, |
yaqlna inna buytan `awratun |
saying: Surely, our houses are exposed. |
wa m hiya bi`awratin in yurdna ill firran |
And they were not exposed; they only desired to fly away. |
wa qla allhu ta`l |
Almighty Allah has also said: |
wa lamm ra' almu'minna al-azba ql |
And when the believers saw the allies, they said: |
hdh m wa`adan allhu wa rasluh |
This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us. |
wa adaqa allhu wa rasluh |
And Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. |
wa m zdahum ill mnan wa taslman |
And it only increased them in faith and submission. |
faqatalta `amrahum |
On that day, you (O `Al) killed their knight, `Amr (ibn `Abd-Wadd) |
wa hazamta jam`ahum |
and defeated their allies: |
wa radda allhu alladhna kafar bighayihim |
And Allah turned back the unbelievers in their rage. |
lam yanl khayran |
They did not obtain any advantage. |
wa kaf allhu almu'minna alqitla |
And Allah sufficed the believers in fighting. |
wa kna allhu qawiyyan `azzan |
And Allah is Strong, Mighty. |
wa yawma uudin idh yu`idna wa l yalwna `al aadin |
On the Battle of Uud: When they ran off precipitately and did not wait for any one |
walrraslu yad`hum f ukhrhum |
and the Messenger was calling them from their rear. |
wa anta tadhdu bihim almushrikna `an alnnabiyyi |
And you were engaged in preventing the polytheists from reaching the Prophet, |
dhta alyamni wa dhta alshshimli |
on both sidesthe right and the left, |
att raddahum allhu ta`l `ankum kh'ifna |
until Almighty Allah drove them back, full of fear. |
wa naara bika alkhdhilna |
Hence, He gave victory, by means of you, to the disappointing ones. |
wa yawma unaynin `al m naaqa bih alttanzlu |
On the Battle of unayn, as is accounted by the Divine Revelation: |
idh a`jabatkum kathratukum falam tughni `ankum shay'an |
When your great numbers made you vain, but they availed you nothing. |
wa qat `alaykum al-aru bim raubat |
And the earth became strait to you notwithstanding its spaciousness, |
thumma wallaytum mudbirna |
then you turned back retreating. |
thumma anzala allhu saknatah `al raslih wa `al almu'minna |
Then, Allah sent down His tranquility upon His Messenger and upon the believers. |
walmu'minna anta wa man yalka |
The believers were you and your party. |
wa `ammuka al`abbsu yund almunhazimna |
You uncle, al-`Abbs, was calling at the defeated party: |
y aba srati albaqarati |
O companions of Srah al-Baqarah! |
y ahla bay`ati alshshajarati |
O owners of the Allegiance of the Tree! |
att istajba lah qawmun qad kafaytahum alma'nata |
He still shouted until a group responded to him, and it was you who replaced them in fighting, |
wa takaffalta dnahum alma`nata |
and it was you who aided the Prophet instead of them. |
fa`d yisna min almathbati |
They therefore returned free from reward, |
rjna wa`da allhi ta`l bilttawbati |
and hoping for repentance, as was promised by Almighty Allah. |
wa dhlika qawlu allhi jalla dhikruh |
He, majestic be His mention, says, |
thumma yatbu allhu min ba`di dhlika `al man yash'u |
Then will Allah, after this, turn mercifully to whom He pleases. |
wa anta 'izun darajata alabri |
As for you, you were awarded the rank of steadfastness |
f'izun bi`ami al-ajri |
and prized the great reward. |
wa yawma khaybara idh ahara allhu khawara almunfiqna |
On the Battle of Khaybar, when Allah exposed the cowardice of the hypocrites |
wa qaa`a dbira alkfirna |
and cut off the roots of the atheists, |
walamdu lillhi rabbi al`lamna |
so, all praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds (for that): |
wa laqad kn `had allha min qablu l yuwallna al-adbra |
And, certainly, they had made a covenant with Allah before, that they would not turn their backs. |
wa kna `ahdu allhi mas'lan |
And Allah's covenant shall be inquired of. |
mawlya anta alujjatu alblighatu |
O master, you are the conclusive argument (of Allah), |
walmaajjatu alwiatu |
the clear course, |
walnni`matu alssbighatu |
the poured grace, |
walburhnu almunru |
and the radiant evidence. |
fahan'an laka bim tka allhu min falin |
So, congratulations, for the favors that Allah has given you. |
wa tabban lishni'ika dh aljahli |
perdition overtake your enemies, the ignorant! |
shahidta ma`a alnnabiyyi all allhu `alayhi wa lih |
You presented yourself with the Prophetpeace be upon him and his Household |
jam`a urbih wa maghzhi |
during all battles and expeditions that he led; |
tamilu alrryata ammah |
you always carried the pennon with him |
wa taribu bilssayfi quddmah |
and stroke (the enemies) with your sword before him. |
thumma liazmika almashhri |
Then, due to your prominent determination |
wa baratika f al-umri |
and your sagacity in all affairs, |
ammaraka f almawini |
he (i.e. the Prophet) appointed you as the commander on all occasions, |
wa lam yakun `alayka amrun |
and you were never under the commandment of another. |
wa kam min amrin addaka `an im'i `azmika fhi alttuq |
On many occasions, your piety prevented you from doing what you had decided about a matter, |
wattaba`a ghayruka f mithlih alhaw |
while your rival followed his (personal) lust and committed that matter. |
faanna aljhilna annaka `ajazta `amm ilayhi antah |
Thus, the ignorant ones thought that you were incapable of doing that which had been done by your rival! |
alla wallhi alnnu lidhlika wa m ihtad |
I swear by Allah that any one who thought so had missed the right thing and had never found the true guidance. |
wa laqad awata m ashkala min dhlika liman tawahhama wamtar |
However, you clarified the misunderstanding in which those who fancied and doubted fell |
biqawlika all allhu `alayka |
by your sayingmay Allahs peace be upon you: |
qad yar aluwwalu alqullabu wajha allati |
One who has been through thick and thin of life finds the excuses |
wa dnah jizun min taqw allhi |
to be preventing him from orders and prohibitions of Allah, |
fayada`uh ra'ya al`ayni |
but he disregards them despite capability (to succumb to them and instead follows the commands of Allah), |
wa yantahizu furatah man l arjata lah f alddni |
while one who has no restraints of religion seizes the opportunity (and accepts the excuses for not following the commands of Allah). |
adaqta wallhi wa khasira almubilna |
You have said the very truth; I swear it by Allah, and the followers of vanity are indeed losers. |
wa idh mkaraka alnnkithni |
And when the two preachers (of their allegiance) tried to deceive you; |
faql nurdu al`umrata |
and said, We want to go on `umrah! |
You thus answered them, I swear by your lives; you do not want to go on `umrah; |
lkin turdni alghadrata |
rather, you want to betray me! |
fa'akhadhta albay`ata `alayhim |
Hence, you made covenant with them again |
wa jaddadta almthqa |
and you renewed their allegiance to you; |
fajadd f alnnifqi |
but they exerted all efforts to act hypocritically. |
And when you drew their attentions to this act, they neglected, redid it again, and did not follow your advice. |
wa kna `qibatu amrihim khusran |
Thus, their end result was loss. |
thumma talhum ahlu alshshmi |
After them, the people of Syria (mutinied)! |
fasirta ilayhim ba`da al-i`dhri |
So, you went to fight them after you had provided all excuses, |
wa hum l yadnna dna alaqqi |
while they did not follow the true religion |
wa l yatadabbarna alqur'na |
neither did they understand the Qur'n. |
hamajun ru``un llna |
They were rabble, rot, and deviants, |
wa billadh unzila `al muammadin fka kfirna |
and they were unbelievers in what was revealed to Muammad about your leadership, |
wa li'ahli alkhilfi `alayka nirna |
and they were supporters of those who antagonized you. |
wa qad amara allhu ta`l bittib`ika |
While, Almighty Allah ordered everyone to follow you |
wa nadaba almu'minna il narika |
and instructed the believers to support you. |
wa qla `azza wa jalla |
He, the Almighty and All-majestic, has said in this respect: |
y ayyuh alladhna man |
O you who believe! |
ittaq allha wa kn ma`a aldiqna |
Be careful of your duty to Allah, and be with the truthful. |
mawlya bika ahara alaqqu |
O master, through you did the right manifest itself, |
wa qad nabadhah alkhalqu |
but the people discarded it. |
wa awata alssunana ba`da alddursi walamsi |
And you made clear the (Prophetic) traditions after they had been eradicated and confused. |
falaka sbiqatu aljihdi `al tadqi alttanzli |
Hence, you enjoy the priority of struggling for the sake of confirming the Divine Revelation, |
wa laka falatu aljihdi `al taqqi altta'wli |
and you enjoy the virtue of struggling for the sake of confirming the true interpretation (of the Divine Revelation). |
wa `aduwwuka `aduwwu allhi jidun lirasli allhi |
Your enemy is in fact the enemy of Allah and the denier of Allahs Messenger. |
yad` bilan wa yakumu j'iran |
Your enemy thus calls for vanity, judges unfairly, |
wa yata'ammaru ghiban wa yad` izbah il alnnri |
usurps the position of rule, and drives his fans to Hellfire. |
wa `ammrun yujhidu wa yund bayna alaffayni |
While `Ammr (ibn Ysir) strove and called at the two parties (of the battle): |
alrrawa alrrawa il aljannati |
How eager I am to join Paradise! |
wa lamm istasq fasuqiya allabana kabbara wa qla |
When he then asked for a drink, he was served with a drink of milk; he thus shouted, glorifying Allah, and said: |
qla l raslu allhi all allhu `alayhi wa lih |
The Messenger of Allahpeace of Allah be upon him and his Householddid say to me: |
khiru sharbika min aldduny ayun min labanin |
The last drink that you will have in this world is a cup of milk, |
wa taqtuluka alfi'atu albghiyatu |
and the transgressing party will kill you. |
fa`taraah abul`diyati alfazriyyu faqatalah |
Thus, Abul-`diyah al-Fazr faced and killed him. |
fa`al abil`diyati la`natu allhi |
The curse of Allah |
and the curse of all His angels and Messengers be upon this Abul-`diyah, |
wa `al man salla sayfah `alayka |
upon any one who unsheathed a sword against you, |
wa salalta sayfaka `alayhi |
and upon any one against whom you unsheathed your sword |
y amra almu'minna |
O Commander of the Faithful |
min almushrikna walmunfiqna il yawmi alddni |
(Curse be upon) the polytheists and the hypocrites up to the Religion Day. |
wa `al man raiya bim s'aka |
Curse be also upon any one whom is pleased by whatever upsets you, |
wa lam yakrahhu wa aghmaa `aynah wa lam yunkir |
and curse be upon any one who is not passive for whatever upsets you and upon any one who bypasses and does not deny, |
aw a`na `alayka biyadin aw lisnin |
and upon any one who supports your rivals by deeds or words, |
aw qa`ada `an narika |
and upon any one who fails to support you, |
aw khadhala `an aljihdi ma`aka |
and upon any one who slackens to fight with you, |
aw ghamaa falaka |
and upon any one who despises your merits, |
wa jaada aqqaka |
and upon any one who denies your right, |
aw `adala bika man ja`alaka allhu awl bih min nafsih |
and upon any one who leaves you and joins one upon whom Almighty Allah has given you priority. |
wa alawtu allhi `alayka wa ramatu allhi wa baraktuh |
Allahs peace, mercy, and blessings, |
wa salmuh wa taiyytuh |
compliments, and greetings |
wa `al al-a'immati min lika alhirna |
be upon you and upon the Imams from your Immaculate Household. |
innah amdun majdun |
Verily, Allah is Praised and Glorious. |
wal-amru al-a`jabu |
What is more astounding |
walkhabu al-afa`u ba`da jadika aqqaka |
and more horrible than usurping your right |
ghabu aliddqati alhirati alzzahr'i sayyidati alnnis'i fadakan |
is the usurpation of Fadak from the veracious, pure, and luminous Lady, the doyenne of the women of the world! |
wa raddu shahdatika wa shahdati alssayyidayni sullatika |
As well as the rejection of your testimony and the testimonies of the two mastersyour descendants, |
wa `itrati almuaf all allhu `alaykum |
and the Household of the Chosen Prophet, may Allahs peace be upon you all. |
wa qad a`l allhu ta`l `al al-ummati darajatakum |
Whereas Almighty Allah has elevated you in rank over the nation, |
wa rafa`a manzilatakum |
raised your positions, |
wa abna falakum wa sharafakum `al al`lamna |
and demonstrated your preference and honorable favorability over all the created beings. |
fa'adhhaba `ankum alrrijsa wa ahharakum tathran |
He thus removed away filth from you and purified you with the most thorough purification. |
qla allhu `azza wa jalla |
Allah the Almighty and All-majestic says: |
inna al-insna khuliqa hal`an |
Indeed, man is created of a hasty temperament. |
idh massah alshsharru jaz`an |
Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him |
wa idh massah alkhayru man`an |
and niggardly when good befalls him, |
ill almuallna |
except those who pray. |
fastathn allhu ta`l nabiyyah almuaf |
Hence, Almighty Allah has excluded His Chosen Prophet |
wa anta y sayyida al-awiy'i min jam`i alkhalqi |
you, the chief of the Prophets successors, from among all His beings. |
fam a`maha man alamaka `an alaqqi |
How deviant from the right he who has wronged you is! |
thumma afraka sahma dhaw alqurb makran |
They then deceptively decided the share of Near of Kin to be for you, |
wa adhu `an ahlih jawran |
after they wrongly deprived its meritorious people of it. |
When the matter (of rule) was returned to you, you continued carrying out what they had decided, |
raghbatan `anhum bim `inda allhi laka |
because you desired for what is stored by Allah for you. |
fa'ashbahat minatuka bihim miana al-anbiy'i `alayhimu alssalmu |
Your ordeals are thus similar to the ordeals encountered by the Prophets, peace be upon them, |
`inda alwadati wa `adami al-anri |
who also faced loneliness and absence of supporters. |
wa ashbahta f albayti `al alfirshi aldhdhaba `alayhi alssalmu |
As you replaced the Prophet by spending that night on his bed instead of him, this situation was similar to the situation of the self-sacrificing Prophet, peace be upon him. |
idh ajabta kam ajba |
Because you responded (to the Prophets order) in the same way as he (i.e. Prophet Ism`l) responded (to his fathers request), |
wa aa`ta kam a`a ism`lu biran mutasiban |
and you obeyed the Prophet in the same way as (Prophet) Ism`l obeyed with steadfastness and reliance upon Allah. |
idh qla lah y bunayya inn ar f almanmi ann adhbauka |
Hence, when his father said to him, O my son! Surely, I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice you; |
fanur mdh tar |
consider then what you see. |
qla y abati if`al m tu'maru |
He said, O my father! Do what you are commanded; |
satajidun in sh'a allhu min albirna |
if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones. |
wa kadhlika anta lamm abtaka alnnabiyyu all allhu `alayhi wa lih |
The same situation with you, when the Prophetpeace be upon him and his Householdchose you to replace him, |
wa amaraka an taja`a f marqadih |
and ordered you to sleep in his bed instead of him |
wqiyan lah binafsika |
so that you should protect him by sacrificing yourself for him, |
asra`ta il ijbatih mu`an |
you quickly responded to his request with obedience, |
wa linafsika `al alqatli muwainan |
by exposing yourself to killing fearlessly. |
fashakara allhu ta`l `ataka |
So, Allah the All-exalted appreciated this obedience to him |
wa abna `an jamli fi`lika biqawlih jalla dhikruh |
and He, majestic be His mention, declared your excellent deed by saying: |
wa min alnnsi man yashr nafsah ibtigh'a marti allhi |
And among men is he who sells himself to seek the pleasure of Allah. |
thumma minatuka yawma iffna |
Then, your ordeal on the Battle of iffn, |
wa qad rufi`at almaifu latan wa makran |
when books of the Qur'n were raised (on spearheads) out of trickery and deception, |
fa'a`raa alshshakku |
causing doubt to be aroused, |
wa `uzifa alaqqu |
the truth to be neglected, |
wattubi`a alannu |
and conjecture to be followed, |
ashbahat minata hrna idh ammarah ms `al qawmih fatafarraq `anhu |
this ordeal was similar to the ordeal of (Prophet) Aaron when (Prophet) Moses appointed him as the leader of his people, but they left him alone, |
wa hrnu yund bihim wa yaqlu |
while (Prophet) Aaron was calling at them, saying: |
y qawmi innam futintum bih wa inna rabbakum alrramnu |
O my people! You are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah. |
fattabi`n wa a` amr |
Therefore, follow me and obey my order. |
ql lan nabraa `alayhi `kifna att yarji`a ilayn ms |
They said, We will by no means cease to keep to its worship until Moses returns to us. |
wa kadhlika anta lamm rufi`at almaifu qulta |
Similarly, when the books of the Qur'n were raised (on spearheads), you said: |
y qawmi innam futintum bih wa khudi`tum |
O my people, you are only tried by this and you have been surely cheated. |
fa`aawka wa khlaf `alayka |
Nevertheless, they disobeyed you and did the opposite. |
wastad`aw naba alakamayni |
And when they demanded with nominating two arbitrators (one from each party), |
fa'abayta `alayhim wa tabarra'ta il allhi min fi`lihim wa fawwatah ilayhim |
you rejected and declared your disavowal of this act before Allah, and then asked them to do whatever they wanted. |
falamm asfara alaqqu |
Thus, when the truth manifested itself |
wa safiha almunkaru |
the wrong was proven as futile, |
wa`taraf bilzzalali waljawri `an alqadi |
and they confessed of their flaw and deviation from the right thing, |
ikhtalaf min ba`dih |
they also mutinied after that |
wa alzamka `al safahi alttakmi alladh abaytah wa aabbhu |
and obliged you to commit to the nonsensical result of the arbitration that you had rejected and they had accepted, |
wa aartah wa ab dhanbahumu alladh iqtarafhu |
and you had forbidden it, and they then confessed of the sin that they had committed. |
wa anta `al nahji baratin wa hudan |
While you were following the course of sagacity and true guidance, |
wa hum `al sunani allatin wa `aman |
they were following the courses of deviation and blindness. |
fam zl `al alnnifqi muirrna |
Nonetheless, they insisted on hypocrisy |
wa f alghayyi mutaraddidna |
and involved themselves in seduction |
att adhqahum allhu wabla amrihim |
until Allah made them taste the evil result of their conduct. |
Fa'amta bisayfika man `nadaka fashaqiya wa haw |
He thus deadened, through your sword, those who mutinied against you, causing them eternal misery and perdition, |
wa ay biujjatika man sa`ada fahudiya |
and He gave life, through your acting as His argument, to those whom He decided as happy; therefore, they were guided (to the true choice). |
alawtu allhi `alayka ghdiyatan wa r'iatan |
Allahs blessings be upon you, coming and going, |
wa `kifatan wa dhhibatan |
and still and moving. |
fam yuu almdiu wafaka |
Certainly, no one praising you can ever cover your actual characteristics |
wa l yubiu al`inu falaka |
and no one criticizing you can ever belittle your merits. |
anta asanu alkhalqi `ibdatan |
You are verily the best worshipper of all created beings, |
wa akhlauhum zahdatan |
the most sincere in asceticism, |
wa adhabbuhum `an alddni |
and the most enthusiastic defender of the religion. |
aqamta udda allhi bijuhdika |
You executed the laws of Allah with exceptional efforts |
wa falalta `askira almriqna bisayfika |
and damaged the armies of the apostates with your sword. |
tukhmidu lahaba alurbi bibannika |
You can extinguish the flames of battles with your finger, |
wa tahtiku sutra alshshubahi bibaynika |
tear out the curtains of seditions with your eloquent language, |
wa takshifu labsa albili `an ari alaqqi |
and distinguish the confusing wrong from the plain right. |
l ta'khudhuka f allhi lawmatu l'imin |
You are never influenced by any censure as long as you work for the sake of Allah. |
wa f madi allhi ta`l laka ghinan |
The praising of Allah the All-exalted to you suffices |
`an madi almdina wa taqri alwifna |
from the praising of any other one and from the approval of the depicters. |
qla allhu ta`l |
Almighty Allah says: |
min almu'minna rijlun adaq m `had allha `alayhi |
Of the believers are men who are true to the covenant which they made with Allah. |
faminhum man qa nabah wa minhum man yantairu wa m baddl tabdlan |
So, of them is he who accomplished his vow, of them is he who yet waits, and they have not changed in the least. |
wa lamm ra'ayta an qatalta alnnkithna walqsina walmriqna |
After you felt that you had killed the preachers, the wrongdoers, and the apostates, |
wa adaqaka raslu allhi all allhu `alayhi wa lih wa`dah |
the predictions of Allahs Messengerpeace be upon him and his Householdcame true, |
fa'awfayta bi`ahdih qulta |
and you had fulfilled your promise to him, you then said: |
am na an tukhaba hdhih min hdhih |
Has time not come yet so that this (beard) shall be dyed with the blood of this (head)? |
am mat yub`athu ashqh |
When will the most unfortunate of them be sent (to slay me)? |
wthiqan bi'annaka `al bayyinatin min rabbika |
You were always confident that you were proceeding on clear proof from your Lord, |
wa baratin min amrika |
you were acting with sure knowledge of what you do, |
qdimun `al allhi |
you were on your way to Allah, |
mustabshirun bibay`ika alladh bya`tah bih |
and you were rejoicing in the bargain that you had made with Him; |
wa dhlika huwa alfawzu al`amu |
and that is the supreme triumph. |
allhumma il`an qatalata anbiy'ika wa awiy'i anbiy'ika |
O Allah, curse the murderers of your Prophets and the murderers of Your Prophets successors |
bijam`i la`antika |
with the variant curses (that You have prepared for them), |
wa alihim arra nrika |
and make those slayers to taste the heat of Your fire. |
wal`an man ghaaba waliyyaka aqqah |
And also curse those who usurped the right of Your friend, |
wa ankara `ahdah |
those who denied their allegiance to him, |
wa jaadah ba`da alyaqni wal-iqrri bilwilyati lah |
and those who rejected him after they had witnessed and declared their loyalty to him |
yawma akmalta lah alddna |
on the day when you completed your religion through him. |
allhumma il`an qatalata amri almu'minna |
O Allah, curse those who slew the Commander of the Faithful, |
wa man alamah wa ashy`ahum wa anrahum |
curse those who wronged him, and curse their adherents and supporters. |
allhumma il`an lim alusayni wa qtilhi |
O Allah, curse those who wronged and slew al-usayn, |
walmutbi`na `aduwwah wa nirhi |
and curse those who adhered to his enemies and those who supported them, |
walrrna biqatlih wa khdhilhi la`nan wablan |
and curse those who were pleased by the murder of killing al-usayn and those who disappointed him, with violent cursing. |
allhumma il`an awwala limin alama la muammadin |
O Allah, curse the first one to invent the wronging against the Household of Muammad |
wa mni`him uqqahum |
and curse those who deprived them of their rights. |
O Allah, pour violent curses upon the first one who wronged and usurped the rights of the Household of Muammad, |
wa kulla mustannin bim sanna il yawmi alqiymati |
and curse all those who followed those wrongdoers up to the Resurrection Day. |
allhumma alli `al muammadin khtami alnnabiyyna |
O Allah, send blessings upon Muammad, the seal of the Prophets, |
wa `al `aliyyin sayyidi alwaiyyna wa lih alhirna |
and upon `Al, the chief of the Prophets successors, and upon his immaculate Household, |
waj`aln bihim mutamassikna |
(please do) make us adhere to them firmly, |
wa biwilyatihim min alf'izna al-minna |
and include us with those who shall be winners and secured because they abode by their leadership; |
alladhna l khawfun `alayhim wa l hum yazanna |
those upon whom there shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. |
In my book of Hadiyyat al-Z'ir, I have mentioned the chain of authority of this form of ziyrah and I have also said that this form can be said at all times, from nearness or from remote places. In other words, this form of ziyrah is in fact not dedicated to a certain occasion or place. This is therefore a good opportunity for the worshippers who long for visiting the tomb of Imam `Al, the head of the Imams (a), to say this form of ziyrah.
There is another form of ziyrah mentioned in Iqbl al-A`ml by Sayyid Ibn ws who says that Imam al-diq (a) is reported to have said:
If you are present at the holy tomb of Imam `Al (a) on the Ghadr Day, you may come near the tomb and say the followin prayer. If you are in a remote place, you may point to him after the prayer and say the prayer involved:
allhumma alli `al waliyyika |
O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon Your friend, |
wa akh nabiyyika |
the brother of Your Prophet, |

wa mawi`i sirrih |

his successor, his choice, his dignitary, |

the master of Muslims, |

the commander of the faithful, |
wa q'idi alghurri almuajjalna |
and the leader of the white-forehead group; |
afala m allayta `al aadin min khalqika |
(please, bless him) with the best blessings that You have ever bestowed upon any of Your creatures |
wa afiy'ika wa awiy'i anbiy'ika |
and upon Your select ones and Your Prophets successors. |
allhumma inn ashhadu |
O Allah, I bear witness |
annah qad ballagha `an nabiyyika all allhu `alayhi wa lih m ummila |
that he conveyed all that which has been entrusted with him on behalf of Your Prophet, peace be upon him and his Household, |
wa ra` m istufia |
conformed to that which has been kept with him, |

held that which has been commended to him, |
wa allala allaka |
observed that which You have deemed lawful, |
wa arrama armaka |
forbade that which You have deemed unlawful, |
wa aqma akmaka |
carried out Your laws, |

walqsina walmriqna `an amrika |
those who acted wrongly, and those who apostatized Your affair. |
biran mutasiban |
In all these, he was steadfast, seeking Your pleasure, |
muqbilan ghayra mudbirin |
advancing, and never neglectful. |
l ta'khudhuh f allhi lawmatu l'imin |
No censure has ever precluded him from what he would do for Your sake |
att balagha f dhlika alrri |
until he attained Your satisfaction, |
wa sallama ilayka alqa'a |
relegated all matters to You, |
wa `abadaka mukhlian |
worshipped You sincerely, |
wa naaa laka mujtahidan |
and acted sincerely and painstakingly for Your sake |
att athu alyaqnu |
until death came upon him. |
faqabatah ilayka shahdan sa`dan |
So, You grasped his soul to You while he was happy martyr, |
waliyyan taqiyyan raiyyan |
saint, pious, pleased, |
zakiyyan hdiyan mahdiyyan |
pure, guide, and well-guided. |
allhumma alli `al muammadin wa `alayhi |
O Allah, (please do) bless Muammad and bless him |
afala m allayta `al aadin min anbiy'ika wa afiy'ika |
with the best blessings You have ever bestowed upon any of Your Prophets and select ones, |
y rabba al`lamna |
O Lord of the worlds. |
In his book of Mib al-Z'ir, Sayyid Ibn ws has mentioned another form of ziyrah that is dedicated to this day (Ghadr Day). However, it is not certain that this form is dedicated to this day. This form of ziyrah is in fact composed of two forms that `Allmah al-Majlis has mentioned them in his book of al-Tufah as the second and the third forms of ziyrah dedicated to the Ghadr Day.
