To sit and recite the Holy Quran, or duaas, narrated by the Holy Ahlul Bayt, after the obligatory Salaat, is called Taa-qeeb , the literal meaning of which is delay. It is Sunnat I-Muwakkidah (strongly recommended) to recite Taa-qeebaat after every obligatory salaat.

Ziaraat after salaat | |
Short powerful duas |
a)Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) has said that after every mandatory prayer, there is no better invocation than the Tasbeeh e Fatima (a.s.). If there was any other, more effective, way of Praising Allah, the Prophet (a.s.) would most certainly have instructed his daughter about that. Imam Jafar e Sadiq has said that reciting the Tasbeeh e Fatima (a.s.) after every compulsory prayer is better than performing a thousand genuflections:-
|
Allaho Akbar (34 times) Alhamdu lillah (33 times) Subhan Allah (33 times) |
b) One should say once after reciting the Tasbeeh the following words La ilaha ilAllah
c)Imam Baqir (a.s.) says One who sits quietly after each mandatory prayer and recites 3 times the following , Allah will pardon all his sins:
|
I seek forgiveness from the Lord (testifying) There is no God other than Him The Living and the Everlasting Of Majesty and Splendour And I turn to Him In Repentence! Astaghfarallah allazi la ilaha illa huwal hayyal qayyumo zuljalal e wal ikraame wa aatube ilaihi
|
Imam Sadiq has said that if a person recites 30 times Subhan Allah: after each compulsory prayer, all his sins will be pardoned
CHAPTER ONE Mafatih GENERAL POST-PRAYER duas
The following prayers and recommended devotional acts have been quoted from Shaykh al-ss famous book of Mib al-Mutahajjid and other reference books.
After you say the Taslm statementthe closing part of the ritual prayersand accomplish your prayer, repeat the Takbr statement (i.e. allhu akbar; Allah is the Greatest) three times while raising your hands to the level of your ears and then say:
l ilha ill allhu |
There is no god save Allah; |
ilhan widan |
One and Only God; |
wa nanu lah muslimna |
and we are submissive to Him. |
l ilha ill allhu |
There is no god save Allah |
wa l na`budu ill iyyhu |
and we worship none save Him, |
mukhlina lah alddna |
making our devotion sincere as in His sight, |
wa law kariha almushrikna |
even though the polytheists may detest it. |
l ilha ill allhu |
There is no god save Allah; |
rabbun wa rabbu b'in al-awwalna |
(He is) Our Lord and the Lord of our fathers of old. |
l ilha ill allhu |
There is no god save Allah; |
wadah wadah wadah |
Alone, alone, alone. |
anjaza wa`dah |
He has truly fulfilled His promise, |
wa naara `abdah |
granted His servant victory, |
wa a`azza jundah |
made powerful His soldiers, |
wa hazama al-azba wadah |
and defeated the parties alone. |
falahu almulku wa lah alamdu |
So, sovereignty be His and praise be His. |
yuy wa yumtu |
He grants life and causes (others) to die, |
wa yumtu wa yuy |
and (then) causes to die and raises from the dead; |
wa huwa ayyun l yamtu |
while He is eternally ever-living and He never dies. |
biyadihi alkhayru |
All goodness is at His Hand, |
wa huwa `al kulli shay'in qadrun |
and He has power over all things. |
Then, say the following:
I seek forgiveness of Allah; there is no god save Him, |
astaghfiru allha alladh l ilha ill huwa |
the Ever-living and Self-Subsisting; and to Him do I turn in repentance. |
alayyu alqayymu wa atbu ilayhi |
Then, say the following:
allhumma ihdiny min `indika |
O Allah, (please do) guide me to the true guidance of Yours, |
wa afi `alayya min falika |
pour upon me from Your grace, |
wanshur `alayya min ramatika |
spread over me from Your mercy, |
wa anzil `alayya min baraktika |
and bring down upon me from Your blessings. |
subnaka l ilha ill anta |
Glory be to You; there is no god save You. |
ighfir l dhunb kullih jam`an |
(Please) forgive my sinsall of them entirely, |
fa'innah l yaghfiru aldhdhunba kullih jam`an ill anta |
because none can forgive all sins entirely save You. |
allhumma inn as'aluka min kulli khayrin aa bih `ilmuka |
O Allah, I beseech You to grant me part of all good things that are encompassed by Your knowledge |
wa a`dhu bika min kulli sharrin aa bih `ilmuka |
and I seek Your protection against all evils that are encompassed by Your knowledge. |
allhumma inn as'aluka `fiyataka f umr kullih |
O Allah, I beseech You to grant me wellbeing from You in all of my affairs |
wa a`dhu bika min khizyi aldduny wa `adhbi alkhirati |
and I seek Your protection against the disgrace of this world and the chastisement in the Next World. |
wa a`dhu biwajhika alkarmi |
I also seek protection of Your Noble Face, |
wa `izzatika allat l turmu |
Your invulnerable omnipotence, |
wa qudratika allat l yamtani`u minh shay'un |
and Your power that none can deter |
min sharri aldduny wal-khirati |
against the evils of this world and the Next World, |
wa min sharri alawj`i kullih |
the evils of all pains, |
wa min sharri kulli dbbatin anta khidhun biniyatih |
and the evil of all moving creatures that You grasp from forelocks. |
inna rabb `al irin mustaqmin |
Verily, my Lord is on a Straight Path. |
wa l awla wa l quwwata ill billhi al`aliyyi al`ami |
There is neither strength nor power save with Allah, the All-high and All-great. |
tawakkaltu `al alayyi alladh l yamtu |
I put my trust in the Ever-living (Lord) Who never dies. |
walamdu lillhi alladh lam yattakhidh waladan |
All praise be to Allah Who has not taken to Himself a son, |
wa lam yakun lah sharkun f almulki |
nor has He had any partner in sovereignty, |
wa lam yakun lah waliyyun mina aldhdhulli |
nor does He need any to protect Him from humiliation. |
wa kabbirhu takbran |
And magnify Him with all magnificence. |
Then, utter the Tasb al-Zahr' litany (which is discussed in the attached book of al-Bqiyt al-lit).
Before you move from your prayer-place, repeat the following litany ten times:
ash-hadu an l ilha ill allhu |
I bear witness that there is no god save Allah; |
wadah l sharka lah |
(He is) One and Only; and there is no partner with Him; |
ilhan widan |
a Single God; |
aadan fardan amadan |
One, Unique, and eternally Besought of all. |
lam yattakhidh ibatan wa l waladan |

This prayer was taught by Archangel Gabriel to Prophet Ysuf (Joseph)peace be upon himwhen he was in prison.
Then, hold your beard with your right hand, raise your left hand towards the sky, and repeat the following prayer seven times:

and the end of it a prosperity. |
innaka anta `allmu alghuybi |
Verily, You are the Knower of all unseen things. |
According to al-afah al-`Alawiyyah (a collection of Imam `Als supplications), the following prayer is advisably said after the obligatory prayers:
y man l yashghaluh sam`un `an sam`in |
O He Who is not distracted by a sound from hearing another sound! |
wa y man l yughalliuh alss'ilna |
O He Who is not confused by the beseechers! |
wa y man l yubrimuh ilu almulina |
O He Who is not annoyed by the insistence of those who entreat Him persistently! |
adhiqn barda `afwika |
(Please do) Make me taste the nice flavor of Your pardon |
wa alwata ramatika wa maghfiratika |
and the sweetness of Your mercy and forgiveness. |
You may also say the following prayer:
ilh hdhih alt allaytuh |
O Allah, This is my prayer that I have just offered |
l lijatin minka ilayh |
on account of neither a need that You may have for it |
wa l raghbatin minka fh |
nor a desire that You may have for it; |
ill ta`man wa `atan |
rather, it is only glorification of You, obedience to You, |
wa ijbatan laka il m amartan bih |
and response to You to carry out what You have ordered me to do. |
ilh in kna fh khalalun aw naqun |
O my God: If there is a defect or a deficiency in my prayer, |
min ruk`ih aw sujdih |
whether in the genuflection or the prostration; |

rather, confer upon me with Your acceptance (of it) and forgiveness (of me). |
After accomplishment of the ritual prayers, you may also say the following prayer, which the Holy Prophet () taught to Imam `Al Amr al-Mu'minn (`a) for developing memory:
subna man l ya`tad `al ahli mamlakatih |
Glory be to Him Who does not treat the people of His realm with transgression! |
subna man l ya'khudhu ahla al-ari bi-alwni al`adhbi |
Glory be to Him Who does not inflict on the inhabitants of the earth various sorts of torture! |
subna alrra'fi alrrami |
Glory be to the Affectionate, the Merciful! |

O Allah, (please) fill my heart with illumination, discernment, |

(faculty of) understanding, and knowledge. |
innaka `al kulli shay'in qadrun |
Verily, You have power over all things. |
Al-Kaf`am, in his book of al-Mib, cites that it is advisable to repeat the following prayer three times after obligatory prayers:
u`dhu nafs wa dn |
I seek for myself, my religion, |

my family members, my possessions, |

my descendants, my brethren-in-faith, |

all sustenance that my Lord has provided to me as sustenance, the results of my deeds, |
wa man ya`nn amruh |
and whomever I may concern about, |

(I seek for all these) the protection of Allah, the Single, |
al-aadi alamadi |
the One, and the eternally Besought of all |

Who begets not, nor is He begotten; |
wa lam yakun lah kufwan aadun |
and the like of Whom there is none. |

And [I seek the protection of] the Lord of the dawn |

from the evil of what He has created, |

the evil of the utterly dark night when it comes, |
wa min sharri alnnaffthti f al`uqadi |
the evil of those who blow on knots, |

and the evil of the envious when he envies. |

And [I seek the protection of] the Lord of men, |

the God of men, |
min sharri alwaswsi alkhannsi |
from the evil of the whisperings of the slinking (Satan), |

who whispers into the hearts of men |
mina aljinnati walnnsi |
from among the jinn and the men. |
It is narrated in an inscription handwritten by Shaykh al-Shahd that the Holy Prophet () said: Whoever desires that Almighty Allah will not show him his evildoings (that he did in this world) on the Resurrection Day and will not open the record of his evildoings, should say the following prayer after each obligatory prayer:
allhumma inna maghfirataka arj min `amal |
O Allah, Truly, I hope for Your forgiveness more than I trust my deed. |
wa inna ramataka awsa`u min dhanb |
Your mercy is verily more expansive than my sin. |
allhumma in kna dhanb `indaka `aman |
O Allah, If my sin is grave in Your view, |
fa`afwuka a`amu min dhanb |
then Your pardon is greater than my sin. |
allhumma in lam akun ahlan an ablugha ramataka |
O Allah, If I do not deserve to attain Your mercy, |
faramatuka ahlun an tablughan wa tasa`an |
then Your mercy is so liberal that it can reach and include me, |
li-annah wasi`at kulla shay'in |
because it has included all things; |
biramatika y arama alrrimna |
[Let it be] by Your mercy; O most Merciful of all those who show mercy. |
Ibn Bbawayh (i.e. Shaykh al-adq) holds that one should say the following litany immediately after uttering Tasb al-Zahr':

THE INVOCATIONS OF THE MORNINGS AND EVENINGS
Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s) has said, when a person recites the following ten times before the sunrise and before the sunset every day, all his sins committed on that day will be pardoned:
|
Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) has said, One who recites the Salawat on Mohammed and his progeny ten times at dawn and repeats the following words
Subhan Allah ( 35 times) La ilaha il Allah (35 times) Alhamdu lillah (35 times) |
|
And repeats the same at dusk, then he will be counted as those who are busy supplicating to Allah throughout the day. And one who says allaho Akbar a hundred times at dawn and at dusk, he will get Reward equal to releasing a hundred slaves.
It is narrated that the Prophet of Allah (a.s.) used to recite three hundred and sixty times every dawn and dusk the following Alhamdu lillahi rabbilaalimeen kateeran ala kulle haalin
He (a.s.) said that there are 360 veins in the human body. Of them 180 are mobile and the other 180 are static. If, even one mobile vein becomes static, or any of the static veins becomes mobile, then the person doesnt get the sleep and remains restless the whole night. He should therefore regularly recite the invocation mentioned above.
Hazrat Ameer al Momineen has said that anyone who recited three times the following words every morning and evening, then Allah will certainly enter him into the Heaven:
Razaito billahi rabban wa bilislame deenan wa Muhammadin sal allaho alaihi wa aalehi nabian wa bil qurane balaghan wa be aliyin imaman wa bil ausiayo min wuldehe aayimatan |
|
Imam Jafar e Sadiq (a.s.) has said that one who recites the following words 25 times every day, then Allah will write one virtue in the names of all the momins from Adam (a.s.) till the Day of Reckoning and to that individual he will Reward equal to that of all the momins:
Allahumma aghfiru lilmomineena wal mominaate wal muslimeena wal muslimaate |
|
Recite ten times the Quranic Surah (i.e. Chapter) known as al-Ikhlas:
Recite ten timesAll Praise and Glory be to Allah, the Supreme And there is no power or power-acquiring Except through God, the High, and the Mighty.
Recite once:In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate God, guide me through Your Grace; Supplement my meager means with abundance of your generosity. Spread your Mercy All over me. Send down over me your Blessing!
Recite ten times:Glory and Praise be to Allah For there is no God except Allah And Allah is Supreme.
Recite ten times:I bear witness that there is no God except Allah. He is alone having no equals or partners. Alone everlasting Who does not need to take a son or a spouse
Recite once:In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. I give, hereby, myself And all that God has give me In the custody of Allah, The one, The Everlasting, Who begets not. Nor has He been begotten. Nor there is one equal to Him! And I, hereby, take refuge with myself And that God has given me With the Lord of Day break From the evil of what He has created And from the evil of darkness when it gathers. And from the evil of those women who blow on knots And from the evil of envious when he envies. And I take refuge with myself and all that God has given me With the Lord of men, The King of men, the Sustainer of men From the evil or the slinking whisperer Who whispers in the breasts of men Of Jin and Men.
Recite once:There is no power or strength save in God The most High, the Most Supreme. I rely on the Living Who will not Taste, the Taste of death I laud and glorify the One Who has not take a spouse Or a son! Nor there was a partner to share sovereignty nor a friend To supplement a possible need. So glorify Him In the greatest way possible.
Recite three times:I seek forgiveness from the Lord (testifying) There is no God other than Him The Living and the Everlasting Of Majesty and Splendour And I turn to Him In Repentence!
Then recite:O Lord I ask you In the name of Muhammad and his line of Progeny To have Mercy on Muhammad and his posterity. And (through them) grant me (also) The light in my eyes, the true understanding of my faith The (Divine) Certainty in my heart The sincerity in my actions and peace in my mind And spaciousness in the means of my living And gratitude unto You As long as you decide to keep me alive.
Then recite:There is no God except Allah, the One, without any partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom and to Him is due all Praise. He gives life and death. In His hand is the good, and He has power over all things.
I seek refuge in Allah, the Hearing, the Knowing, from the evil suggestions of Shaitans and seek refuge in Allah from their presence. Surely Allah -- He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Then recite:O Allah! Who transforms hearts and eyes, may my heart steadfast to Thy religion. And make not my heart to deviate after Thou hast guided me a right and grant me Thy mercy. Surely Thou art All bestower, and by Thy mercy save me from the fire. Oh Allah! Extend the span of my life and increase my subsistence and unfold Thy Knowledge. If there is any misfortune for me in the guarded tablets make it fortunate for me, for surely thou effaces what Thou pleases and inscribes (what Thou pleases) and art heart of guarded tablet.

There Is No God Save Allah, The One True God. And, Unto Him We Have Surrendered. There Is No God Save Allah . We Do Not Worship But Him (Alone), Making The Religion Pure, For Him (Only), However Much Idolaters Maybe Averse. There Is No God Save Allah ; Our Lord , And Lord Of Our Fathers Of Old. There Is No God Save Allah, And No Other, Allah, And No Other, Allah, And No Other, (Who) Fulfilled His Promise, Helped His Servant, Loved Dearly And Backed Up His Troop, And Put Host Of Clans To Flight, Therefore To Him Belongs The Kingdom (Sovereignty), Unto Him (Alone) Belongs The Praise. Allah is the Greatest, as often as and each time when something calls Allah Great and sublime, and just as loves Allah that which says Allahu Akbar as He (alone) is fit for and is worthy of, since it is for the sake of His kind disposition, and glory of His Majesty. Glory be to Allah, (All) praise is for Allah (alone) there is God save Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, for all the bounties bestowed upon me, and on every one of the created beings that He created, by whom ( the above noted four declarations ) used to be, are, or shall be made to the Last Day of Judgment. O My Allah send blessings on Muhammad and on the Children of Muhammad. I request Thee (to give me) the good that I ask for, and the good which I have not referred to. I take refuge with Thee, from the evil that is hanging over my head, and the evil which has not yet come upon me. |

[ Imam Ali
Al-Murtaza (A.S.) had advised his followers to recite the following duaas
after every obligatory Namaaz] |

My Allah, the Salaat (Namaaz) I have just prayed, was not to put forth any demand before Thee, nor was there any self-seeking desire to reach Thee through it. It was nothing but praise, obedience and surrender unto Thee, in order to carry out that which Thou has commanded. My Allah, If there was a break of continuity (disturbance of mind) or shortcoming, while making the intention, or standing, while bowing down, or prostrating in adoration, do not catch hold of me, (but) have the kindness of bestowing a favour on me, by affording me through Thy mercy absolution and acceptance, O the Most Merciful. |
(iii) The following duaa was taught by the Holy Prophet (S.A.) to Imam Ali (A.S.), to be recited after every obligatory Salaat, for developing a flawless memory: |
|
Glory be to Him who does not treat the citizens of His Kingdom unjustly and harshly, Glory be to Him who does not let torment and pain come suddenly upon mankind, Glory be to the Compassionate, the Merciful. O Allah fill my heart and mind with true enlightenment, discerning intelligence, quick understanding and knowledge, Verily Thou art able to do all things. |
(12) In Misbah of Kafaamee it is written that the following duaa may be recited after every obligatory Salaat : |

(in the name of) the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the sneaking whisperer, who whispers in the hearts of people, (be he) from among the jinn and mankind |

It is reported that the Holy Prophet (S.A.) had said that if one wants to keep hidden (forgiven) his faults and mistakes, committed in this world, on the Day of
Judgment, he should recite the following duaa
after every obligatory prayer: |
