15th Sha'ban - Amaal & Dua'a |
||||||||||||||
The Holy Prophet (sa.) had said that during the night of 15th Shaba'an the Almighty takes decisions in the matters of sustenance, life and death and welfare of the people. Next to the Night of Qadr the night of 15th Shabaan is the most auspicious night (also known as night of Baraat). According to the Imams Muhammad bin Ali Al Baqir (as.) and Jaafar bin Muhammad As Sadiq (as.) Allah swt has promised to fulfill every legitimate desire put forward to Him tonight. During this night Allah (swt) bestows on HIS people from HIS bounty & forgives them out of HIS grace & generosity .Of the blessings of this night is that ,at the dawn of this night ,was born the Leader of the Time Imam Mahdi (atfs) in Samarra -Iraq in the yr 255 AH . Ahadith in the book Iqbalul Amal "Therefore, stay awake this night in prayer and worship and encourage your Ummah to also keep awake this night in order to get closer to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) through their actions since this is a noble night. This is a night in which not a single person supplicates to Allah except that his prayers are accepted. Nobody asks for a single thing on this night except that it will be given to him. No one asks Allah for forgiveness except that his sins are wiped out. No one turns in repentance to Allah except that He accepts their repentance. Whoever is deprived of the goodness of this night has definitely been deprived of something great." Almighty Allah has chosen this night for the Ahl ul-Bayt, in the same way as He has chosen the Qadr Night for our Prophet(peace be upon him and his Family.) The first thing that that Salik (the Wayfarer on the path towards Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He) must perform on this night is that he must remove the material pleasures and enjoyments of this world from in front of his eyes (and from his heart) and in order to make the most of this special night and ensure that all of his actions are performed properly, he must think to himself that tonight is his last night on this Earth (meaning that tomorrow he shall die) and thus, he will no longer have the opportunity to perform any more good deeds and that tomorrow the Day of Judgment will take place. |

t is advisable to stay awake during this full night in prayer as it has many rewards, hadith has confirmed that as for one who spends this whole night with acts of worship, his heart will not die when other hearts die. |
First: It is highly recommended to have Ghusl /bathe oneself at this night, for this act decreases the punishment on ones sins.
Second: It is highly recommended to imitate Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s) who used to spend this whole night with acts of worship, prayers, supplications, invocations and prayers for forgiveness. A hadith has confirmed that as for one who remains awake & spends this whole night with acts of worship, his heart will not die when other hearts die.
Third: It is highly recommended to visit the tomb of Imam al-Husayn (a.s). As a matter of fact, this is the most favorable act at this night. It also brings about forgiveness of ones sins. If you desire that 124,000 Prophets shake hands with you, you may visit the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (a.s) at this night. The least act of Ziyarah is to go up an elevated place, to look to the right and the left, and then to raise the head towards the heavens and say these following statements:
One who performs this Ziyarah is expected to have the reward of one Hajj and one `Umrah. Ziyarah of Imam al-Husayn on the Fifteenth of Sha`banThere are two forms of visiting the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (a.s) on the fifteenth of Sha`ban. The first form is the same as the one previously cited for the Ziyarah on the first of Rajab, and the second is as follows: In his book of al-Balad al-Ameen, Shaykh al-Kaf`amiy has reported Imam al-Sadiq (a.s) as saying say the following: MP3
Fourth: It is recommended to recite the following supplication, which stand for a form of Ziyarah for Imam al-Mahdi (a.s). this supplication has been mentioned by both Sayyid Ibn Tawus and Shaykh al Tusy: Mp3 alt eng
|
Fifth: Shaykh Ism`l ibn Fal al-Hshimiy has narrated that Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq (a.s) instructed him to recite the following supplication at the fifteenth night of Sha`ban:Mp3 Alt eng
Sixth: It is recommended to say this supplication, which the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to recite at this night:Mp3 Alt eng
Actually, this supplication is one of the perfect, comprehensive prayers that may be recited at all times. In the word of the book of `Awl al-Lal, the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to recite this supplication at all times.
Seventh: It is recommended to say the prayers that are preferably recited at midday everyday in Sha`ban. These prayers, previously mentioned, begins with the following statement:
|
Ninth: It is recommended to mention Almighty Allah by the following invocation one hundred times so that ones past acts of disobedience to Almighty Allah will be forgiven and ones worldly and religious needs will be settled:
سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ، |
subhna allhi, |
All glory be to Allah; |
walhamdu lillhi, |
all praise be to Allah; |
wa l ilha ill allhu, |
there is no god save Allah; |
wallhu akbaru, |
Allah is the Greatest; |
Tenth: Shaykh al-Tusy in Misbah al-Mutahajjid, has narrated a Hadith about the merits of the fifteenth night of Sha`bn entailing that Abu-Yahy asked Imam Ja`far al-sadiq (a.s) about the best of supplications at this night. The Imam (a.s) instructed him saying, After you finish the obligatory `Ish' Prayer, you may offer a two Rak`ah prayer in the first of which you should recite Surah of al-Ftihah and Surah of al-Kfirun and in the second you should recite Surah of al-Fatihah and Surah of al-Tawhd. When you accomplish the prayer, you may repeat (the phrase of) subhnallh thirty-three times, (the phrase of) alhamdulillh thirty-three times, and (the phrase of) allhu-akbar thirty-four times. You may then say the following supplication:Mp3 alt eng
O He to Whom the servants (of Him) resort in urgencies |
y man ilayhi maljau al`ibdi f almuhimmti |

and with those whose prayers have been heard by You and thus You have responded to them; |
wa sami`ta du`ahu fa-ajabtahu |
and with those whose true repentance has been admitted by You and thus You have accepted it; |

and You have thus overlooked their past sins and enormous offenses. |

verily, I am seeking Your shelter against my sins, |
faqadi astajartu bika min dhunub |
and I am resorting to You so that You may conceal my defects. |
wa lajatu ilayka f satri `uyub |
O Allah: (please) bestow lavishly upon me with Your generosity and Favor; |
allhumma fajud `alayy bikaramika wa falika |

O my Master: a fugitive resorts to none save You, |

and I am asking for Your generosity, |

and I am taking shelter in Your pardon against Your punishment, |

and in Your forbearance against Your ire. |
wa bihilmika min ghaabika |
So, (please) bestow upon me generously with that which I have asked from You, |

and confer upon me with that which I have begged from You, |

You may prostrate yourself and repeat the following twenty times:
O my Lord! |
y rabb(i) |
And then repeat the following seven times:
O Allah! |
y allh(u) |
And then repeat the following seven times:
There is neither might nor power save with Allah. |
l hawla wal quwwata ill billh(i) |
And then repeat the following ten times:
Only that which Allah wants (will be). |

And then repeat the following ten times:
There is no power save with Allah. |
l quwwata ill billhi |
You may then pray to Almighty Allah for sending blessings upon the Holy Prophet and ask for settling your requests.
It is mentioned in Hadith 'By Allah I swear, even if you pray for needs as many as raindrops, Almighty Allah, out of His generosity and favors, will settle them all.

It is worth mentioning that this supplication is advisably said immediately after the accomplishment of the Shaf` Prayer at the last hours of night.
Twelfth: It is recommended to say the supplication narrated by Shaykh al-usiy and Sayyid Ibn wus after each two Rak`ahs of the Night Prayer (alt al-Layl), the Shaf` Prayer, and the Witr Prayer.
Thirteenth: It is recommended to do the prostrations and say the supplications that are reported from the Holy Prophet (a.s). One of these is that Shaykh al-usiy has narrated on the authority of ammd ibn `s on the authority of Abn ibn Taghlib that Imam Ja`far al-diq (a.s) recounted the following:
It was the fifteenth night of Sha`bn when the Holy Prophet (a.s) was with `'ishah, his wife. At midnight, the Holy Prophet (a.s) left the bed. When `'ishah woke up and could not find the Holy Prophet (a.s), she felt jealous and Thought that he joined one of his other wives. 'ishah searched for the Holy Prophet (a.s) in all the rooms of his other wives but she found him prostrating himself on the ground As she approached, she heard him saying:Mp3
Prostrating before You are my body and my shadow |

Please, forgive me my serious offences |

because none can forgive the serious sin except the All-great Lord. |
fainnhu l yaghfiru aldhdhanba al`ama ill alrrabbu al`amu |
The Holy Prophet (a.s) then raised his head and then prostrated himself again, saying:
I seek the protection of the light of Your Face that has lit the heavens and the earth |
a`udhu binuri wa jhika alladhy aat lahu alssamwtu wal-arauna |
and has removed all darkness |
wnkashafat lahu alulumtu |
and has made active all the affairs of the past and the coming generations |
wa alaha `alayhi amru al-awwalna wal-khirna |
against Your sudden chastisement |
min fuj-ati naqimatika |
and against withdrawing the good health that You have granted me |
wa min tahwli `fiyatika |
and against the vanishing of Your bounties. |
wa min zawal-i ni`matika |
O Allah: (please) grant me a heart that is pious and pure, |
allhumma arzuqny qalban taqiyyan naqiyyan |
and is released from polytheism, |
wa mina alshshirki baran |
and is neither atheist nor unhappy. |
l kfiran wa l shaqiyyan |
The Holy Prophet (a.s) then attached his face to the ground and said:
I am putting my face on the ground |
`affartu wajhy f altturbi |
and it is my duty to prostrate myself before You |
wa huqqa l an asjuda laka |
Holy Prophet (a.s) then said, Do you know what this night is? This is the night of the half of Sha`bn. At this night, shares of provisions are distributed, ages are decided, and the pilgrims are appointed. Verily, Almighty Allah, at this night, forgives as many of His creatures as the hairs of the goats of Kalb Tribe. Almighty Allah also orders angels to descend to the earth, to Makkah, at this night.
Fourteenth: It is recommended to offer the famous Ja`far al Tayyars Prayer (Salat Al Ja`far) as is narrated by Shaykh al-Tusiy from Imam al-Ri (a.s).
Fifteenth: It is recommended to offer the prayers that are dedicated to this night. As a matter of fact, these prayers are many. One of them is that which is reported by Abu-Yahy al-an`niy, as well as other thirty trustworthy individuals, from Imam Muhammad al-Bqir (a.s) and Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq (a.s) as follows:
At the night of the half of Sha`bn, you may offer a four Rak`ah prayer in each Rak`ah of which you may recite the Surah of al-Fatihah once and the Surah of al-Tawheed one hundred times. After accomplishment, you may say the following supplication: Mp3
O Allah: I am in need for You, |
allhumma inn ilayka faqrun |
and I am fearful of You and seeking Your shelter against Your chastisement. |
wa min `adhbika khifun mustajrun |
O Allah: (please) do not erase my name, |
allhumma l tubaddil ism |
and do not change my body, |
wa l tughayyir jism |
and do not increase my ordeals, |
wa l tajhad baly |
and do not make my enemies rejoice at my misfortune. |
wa l tushmit by a`dy |
I resort to Your pardon against Your punishment, |
a`udhu bi`afwika min `iqbika |
and I resort to Your mercy against Your chastisement, |
wa a`udhu birahmatika min `adhbika |
and I resort to Your pleasure against Your wrath, |
wa a`udhu birika min sakhaika |
and I resort to You from You |
wa a`udhu bika minka |
Enormous be the praise of You |
jalla thanuuka |
You are as exactly as You have praised Yourself, |
anta kam athnayta `al nafsika |
and above all that which is said about You. |
wa fawqa m yaqulu alqiluna |
It is worth mentioning that adths have decided a great reward for him who offers a one hundred Rak`ah prayer at this night; in each Rak`ah of which the Surah of al-Ftihah is recited once and the Surah of al-Tawhd is repeated ten times.
It has been previously mentioned, within the acts of the month of Rajab, that it is recommended to offer a prayer composing of six Rak`ahs in each of which the Surahs of al-Ftihah, Ysn, al-Mulk, and al-Tawhd are recitedfrom al-mubin.org
One must, as a final act on this night, take
account for his own soul and the actions he has performed during the year. A
person should sincerely and properly ponder and reflect upon his actions
during this year and ask repentance for his previous acts of transgression
since it is only those people whom Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has
protected from committing sin and error
who are free of this pollution. If a person sees that
he has little to no sins on his record then he should compare this to one of
the most insignificant blessings that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He)
has given him and weigh the two on the scales of justice that with his
trivial acts of good, has he been able to repay Allah (Glorified and Exalted
is He) back for all the goodness He has
provided?
If he realizes that he has sins and transgressions on
his record, then he must resort to Tawassul to the Masumin (blessings be
upon all of them) to make up for his shortcomings. He should address the
infallible ones by saying,
O you who Allah has placed between Himself and His servants! O you who are the protectors of His revelation. I ask you by the position that you have that you look towards me, a sinful servant, with your eyes of mercy the one who has been lax in his worship, who possesses nothing and is nothing.
Have mercy upon me and request Allah to accept me and to be pleased with me on this night and to permit me to be benefit from your prayers and supplications and to permit me to take advantage of your intercession and to be classified as your Shia.
In addition, ask Allah to grant me with the reward of goodness and guidance from you. Pray that He makes me of strong will and that I am successful in performing good deeds for my religion, my life here and my next life.
In closing, please accept this from myself and ask Allah that to grant me the ability to know Him, be close to Him and permit me to earn His pleasure and that He join me both in this world and the next with all of you and that I am classified as one of your followers and close friends and companions. All of this is only in His hands.
May the blessings of Allah be upon all of you and whatever Allah wills will only happen and there is no power or strength save with Him.
Alternate English translation fourth dua
O my Allah for the sake of this night we are now in, for the sake of he who was born tonight, Thy decisive argument,Thy promise, that Thou joined with it as a favour to keep alive its superiority, so Thou fulfilled Thy words truly and justly; no one can change Thy Words nor obscure Thy signs.
Thy Light, soft, pleasant and caressing, Thy splendor, had come in view bright and brilliant, for the Bright sigh, (so far) invisible and hidden in the obscurity of the darkness, the covering had been taken off, his arrival in this world was the basis of all kindness, the Angels stood witness.
Almighty Allah will help him and support him when the promise (the event of the beginning of his reign) come true, the Angels will be among his troops, (he will be) a fatal blow from Allah that will never miss the aim a light from Him that will never grow dim, a gentle matured disposition that will never jeopardize the truth. The motive and reason of the course of events, the honour and estimation of time, the UlilAmr (in charge of Allahs affairs). Accompany that which comes down in the Grand Night the controllers of the Day of Judgment and resurrection, interpreters of the Revelations, and those who make known what to do and what not to do.
O Allah send blessing on their seal and representative, un seeable to their people, make his days, his return, his time, reach maturity, (let us be with him), as his helpers, let us be his attacking comrades to hunt up and eliminate the beasts (in human shapes), register our names as his supporters and sincere friends, bring us to life again in his reign, gentle and loving, happy and satisfied in his company, and steadfast in his cause, free from sins, O the Most Merciful! (All) praise is for Allah, the Lords of the worlds! His blessings be on our Chief, Muhammad, the Last Prophet and Messenger, and on his dependable Ahlul Bayt, his truthrevealing children, and condemn all the oppressors and keep back from evil they unleash at us, O the Best Ruler!
O Allah, You are, The Ever-living, the self-subsiding, The most High, the Mighty The Creator, the Provider, The Giver of life and death, The Initiator, the Originator For You is Glory and Excellence, Praise and Grace, Generosity and Honor. For You is the Order, and Magnificence and gratitude. You are Alone, there is no partner for You. O One, O Absolute one. O he who has not given birth nor was He born, and there is none equal to Him. Bless Muhammad and his family, and forgive me, have mercy on me, and suffice for what is important to me. Fulfill my debts, and increase my sustenance. For Surely, on this night, every affair is decreed, and You provide sustenance to whomever You please from your creation. So provide me, for You are the bets of the providers. And You have said, and You are the best of those who say and utter, "And ask Allah from His Bounty" So I ask You from Your Bounty, and You only I seek, and on the son of Your Prophet I lean, in You I have hope, then have mercy on me, O Most Merciful of the Merciful.
Alternate sixth dua
O Allah, grant us a part of Your fear, that acts as a barrier between us and Your disobedience, Your obedience, that helps us achieve Your pleasure, the certainty that makes the miseries of the world seem insignificant. O Allah, make us enjoy, our hearing, our sight, our strength as long as You Keep us alive. Make us take rise against those who oppress us, and help us against those who show animosity to us. Place not our miseries in our religion, and let not this world be our biggest concern, nor the extent of our knowledge. And do not appoint over us one who has no mercy on us, by your mercy, O Most Merciful of the Merciful
Alternate tenth dua
O He to whom the bondmen turn to in the event of urgent important matters; and unto whom run for help the people when the misfortune strikes!
O He who knows the hidden as well as the evident! O He who is not unaware of the bias of the suspicious mind, and the clever activity of the fanciful deviating intellect!
O Lord of the cosmos and the creatures dwelling therein! O He who exercises full authority over the domain of the heavens and the earths! Thou art Allah, There is no God save Thou, I stride apace unto Thee with
There is no god save Thou (on my lips), therefore O "There is no god save Thou, treat me tonight like the one whom Thou paid attention, took pity and heard his prayer, and, aware of his trembling, tolerated and overlooked his past misdeeds and may mistakes to give answer to his cry of help, I surrender myself to Thee along with my transgressions and make a request to please keep my defects undisclosed.
O my Allah put me again in good condition (because) Thou art Generous and kind, take off the loads of my errors (because) Thou art loving and oft-forgiving, cover me with Thy mercy tonight (because) Thou shows generosity in abundance, let me be tonight among Thy friends whom Thou elected to obey Thee, when Thou selected to worship Thee, and kept them sincerely attached and committed to Thee.
O my Allah let me be like the one who finds happiness in his efforts and makes full use of the good fortune made available to him, let me be like the one who kept from evil, therefore, lived a life free of cares; exercised self-control, therefore won easily. Spare and free me for the cravings I have accumulated, prevent me from the wasteful conduct that transgress Thy bounds, discipline me in Thy obedience which will direct me to Thy neighborhood, very near to Thee.
My Lord and master with Thee the hunted refugee take refuge, the beseecher humbly makes a request to Thee, the repentant guilty, apologetic, relies on Thy liberal kindness, Thou trained and educated Thy servants thoroughly to be kind and liberal, Thou art the most kind of all those who show kindness;
Thou developed Thy servants to be forgiving and compassionate, Thou art Of-Forgiving Merciful. O my Allah do not keep from me that which I expect to get from Thy generosity, do not send me away from Thy boundless reservoir of bounties, do not exclude me from the share Thou distribute freely tonight to the people who obey Thee, and take me in under Thy sanctuary to protect me from the evil of the wild creatures. Lord! If I am not among the deserving, Thou art Liberal, indulgent, and Oft-Forgiving , so give me to my hearts content in accordance with Thy (Omni) potence, not what I deserve; l because my expectations are very high, my hopes live in hope of sure fulfillment, I cling to and hang on Thy liberal generosity, verily Thou art the most Merciful of all who show mercy, and the most generous of all who vie in generosity .
O my Allah designate me clearly to obtain freely my share from Thy bounties. I seek refuge with Thy forgiveness to avoid the penalty Thou may decide, be lenient to me in the matter of sins that have wrapped up and held in check my refinement, and thus brought me into distress, (so that) I take steps to be good for the sake of Thy pleasure, live in ease and peace on account of Thy uninterrupted endowments, and prosper on account of Thy countless bounties.
As I enjoy Thy protection and lay myself at the mercy of Thy generosity, take refuge with Thy forgiveness to avoid the penalty Thou may decide and with Thy indulgence to avoid Thy anger, give me that which I asked for, and made a request to Thee most humbly, I beseech Thee; For Thee nothing is beyond Thy power.
